After Effects

I am trying to create an animation with a stylised offset stroke on top of the main colour. I have attached an image for example. I want the outline to have the same animation as the original shape. So i have  duplicated and precomped the original layers to retain the animation (as the layers have parents and unable to be part of the same layer). When applying a stroke to this, nothing appears in the main comp as inside the precomp has no Fills as this part will need to be transparent to show the BG and the original coloured layer slightly offset.How do I go about applying a stroke to a precomped group of layers that have no Fill.Hope this makes sense. Hey Community,I'm a beginner in After Effects and eed your help for an Project.Finally I would like create an animated line that show the track in a Map like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ile4NRMLDQ) [start at 1:00:00]. I know how I create the map and 3d Camera withe google Earth studio and let a line follw an kml path. My current problem is that I want to animate a line (a helix rotates around a center core stroke). I'm shure that this is possible in After Effects (please correct me when I'm wrong) but I don't know how.I need a3d path that rotats around a line. As effect I want to use the Saber plugin I hope you can help me. ThanksBjörn  

I know there's already some post about ACES workflow but I can't seem to find a post that fits my scenario. This is a 2 part question: 1. I'm working on a project and recieved some footage (.exr) in ACEScg color space. I'd like to take a frame into photoshop and use some generative fill to create a clean plate, but Photoshop doesn't seem to like 32 bpc. Is there a workaround for this without changing the color space/ bits? 2. I need help with color management in general. The client is asking to review the clips in a ACES sRGB - Texture color space. I'm not sure how to do this with the OCIO plugin. I'm pretty sure I will have no problem for the final delivery of keeping ACEScg color space, but not sure about the review. Hopefully that makes sense!

I'm having trouble with my project in After Effects. The preview of my video, "MS dag video," is completely black when I open the project. I can hear the audio when I play it, but there's no visual. I'm pretty new to After Effects, so I’m not sure if this is a common beginner mistake or something more complex. Here’s what I’ve tried so far, but nothing has worked:Updated WindowsUpdated my graphics driversUpdated After Effects SpecsAfter effects V25.01Windows 11  Does anyone have any other ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be a settings issue or something with my project file?  

I've just put a fresh install of Sonoma on my 2013 Mac Pro 6,1 which previously had Monterey installed and creative cloud will no longer let me install After Effects version 23.x - it says that After Effects is not compatible with my computer.After Effects version 23.x worked perfectly on this mac prior to me doing the clean install (although I understand later versions 24.x + are no longer compatible with this hardware).Is there a way of installing the 2023 version or is it a compatability issue between After Effects, Sonoma and the mac 6,1?

Hello, I recently upgraded my AfterEffects from a really old version, and some of the code that I had previously used in a lot of templates and projects is now no longer working. After some troubleshooting, I found that I can make it work if I switch my project to use Legacy ExtendScript instead of JavaScript. Is there a way to print out variable values into the VS Code's variable section or print it to the console? The variable section is always empty and the watch section is always returning 'not available' massage for variables when running a script.

Good day everyone! Since the update to AfterEffects v23.4.0 every time I try to use Videocopilot's Optical Flares or every time I open a existing project, that uses Optical Flares, After Effects crashes. When re-starting AE it recommends to disable Optical Flares.  I talked to some colleagues, to see if it's a problem of my setup, but all of them face the same problem! (We're all working on Windows, if that matters) Is Optical Flares still supported? Is there a way to work with Optical Flares in the recent AE Version? We really use that plugin a lot and it always worked well for us. And we need to work with existing projects using Optical Flares, so we really need to find a solution for the future, other than installing and working with older AE versions... Can you provide any tips /help for that? Wondering, that there's not more people, reporting that same issue? I think this is a known problem at your side, right?

Ciao a tutti,nell'ultima settimana mi si è presentato un problema sia con After Effect che con Premiere. Entrambi i programmi funzionano perfettamente, ma il pannello dedito alla riproduzione video non mi da segni di vita. Di conseguenza mi è impossibile riprodurre il risultato del video o dell'animazione creata, sebbene la visualizzazione dei livelli sia attiva. Ho provato a vedere se poteva essere un problema di scheda grafica, ma risulta intatta e lavora bene con gli altri programmi. Sia After Effect che Premiere in passato li ho già usati e sto riscontrando problemi solo in questi ultimi giorni. Anche disinstallando i programmi (tramite Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool) e reintallandoli, sia versioni vecchie che nuove, il problema mi si ripresenta. 

I'm just trying out After Effects to see if I can generate an animated title for a Youtube video. I created a simple project with some photos that appear in a staggered fashion. Then I chose: File->Export-> Add to Render Queue. I have not set any preferences so I have whatever is the default. Also, I just downloaded AE from Adobe today so it is up-to-date. I see my project in the Render Queue (Window->Render Queue). But it hasn't started rendering and it's been there for a few hours. I've tried unqueuing it, requeuing it, restarting AE. AE is not using any CPU and and just sits idly doing nothing. I read online that sometimes you have to "restart the rendering queue" but I can't find any instructions for that.  I'm on Windows 11. Do you need to know anything else? I've attached a screenshot of the Render Queue. On the theory that my settings for the rendering where too big of an ask, I reduced them to Quality=Draft and Resolution=Half but that hasn't h

Hi, I have this (and multiple other) weird errors in all of my projects since i installed a new CPU and RAM.  It happends while exporting and also while working in the project.  I already:- Updated the latest studio driver.- Did a clean install of the drivers.- Did a manual install of the driver.- Did a fresh project with no third party plugins.- Exported without multi frame.- Tried a new windows.  

Just need to do some housekeeping, and the list of previously rendered files is growing..There should be a simple checkbox next to each rendered file, and hit 'delete', but alas.. Any ideas/tricks on how to remove these files?

Hi, it's been a few days that I am trying to learn how to work with Rubber hose script and I faced a crippling problem.  so, everytime I create a Hose, the controller ancher points appear far from the shape and this is causing many lags in terms of movement and nothing is working correctly. when I am trying to create arm or leg for a character it doesn't work smoothly and sometime doesn't work at all. Here I attached a picture of my comp so you can see how far the controller ancher points are and how can I fix the position of the ancher points.  Any help on this problem would be appreciated.

Greetings, I was able to do copy cmd+C a complex Illustrator path that had cutouts and paste it into After Effects onto an adjustment layer and the AI path was converted to various mask layer in AE which is exactly what I wanted. But I could not figure how to do this same thing by importing the actual AI file. I was able right-click 'Convert Shapes from Vector Layer', but all I get is a shape layer with a Contents drop-down that has a bunch of Groups that have Path and Fills, as shown in the screenshot below. Is there a way to convert these shape groups/paths to mask paths? The copy and paste from AI into AE is super fast, but I'm just curious about how do this from importing an AI, like I was attempting.  Any help is much appreciated!!

I've been working with a project in After Effects, this project contains files from Illustrator, today I booted the file to continue working and a series of error messages appeared one after the other, consisting of 1.After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! Pessoal, esse erro me aborreceu por uns dias e atrapalhou meu trabalho. Então, vou deixar aqui como eu resolvi, porque pode ajudar alguém. Do nada quando iniciei o after apareceu esse erro: Tive muita dificuldade em encontrar a solução, porque a maioria dos tutoriais eram pra windows e eu uso MAC. O grande problema é que o caminho apontando pelo after nessa imagem você não encontra no mac. Porque no mac tem duas bibliotecas: Biblioteca do Usuário e Biblioteca do Sistema. Você precisa ir para a Biblioteca do Sistema.A bilbioteca do sistema você acessa na Unidade Macinrosh HD (não é aquele que você clica no finder>ir prara>biblioteca). Fiquei um tempão tentando achar a pasta aqui e não era. Então, acessando essa biblioteca do sistema, você clica em Application Support. As pastas que eu deletei eram duas com o nome de Plug in e dentro tinha arquivos do camera raw.Esse maletido camera raw era o problema. Por que? Não sei rs rs rsMas resolvi assim.Espero

Plagued by the low memory warning. I'm only viewing at quarter resolution. Purging doesn't really help a great deal as I'm having to purge every time I want to preview only after a few alterations to the timeline at a time. Will not preview at times, as there's nothing to even purge.  This has been happening during latter versions of 24. My mac is Apple M3 Pro, 36 GB, running 14.6.1.My activity monitor is showing AE is running well above GB memory capacity around 63GB. Maybe this is the problem, and need more memory, but would appreciate some advice. Please.

Hello! I'm having a hard time finding a reliable list of 3D camera data files natively supported by After Effects. It can't read .abc, and importing .ma crashes the program. In your opinion, what is the best way to bring 3D cameras into After Effects?Most of my data is in .ma files, but I can't use Live Link plugin because I don’t have a Maya license. Any ideas? I tried the Blender script, but it doesn’t work well.

A point is the 06s or B point is the 06s? i am always confused where is the end of the track bar in AE. (don't know what should i call it,,, time bar? track bar?)   should i drag that thing to the very end? (B point)? what the difference between A and B?thank you.

I bought the plugin from the official Video Copilot site. Now when I put Twitch in the After Effects plugin file it won't show up in After Effects. It keep saying that the Plugin is missing. I tried it multiple times but its always the same. I hope someone can help with this problem( I use the MacBook Pro 2020 M1 )
