After Effects

Hi, I found that some guide layers can still be seen in the preview in After effects. For example, as you can see, the second-to-last layer is a guide layer (the blue bg). When I press the space bar to preview the video, I can still see it. I believe that they won't be seen in the rendered video. Usually, if I set it as a guide layer, it can't be seen when I preview it. I wonder if there is an setting so that the guide layers can be seen in the preview?

Hello,I am having a query about JSON file and how to use them in after effects. So I have created a quiz template. And I have like 50 questions. For which I have like 50 renders from my production team. So I have an excel spread sheet that has 50 questions with multiple options as answers, i.e. A,B,C,D. Out of them one will be correct. Now I have created an animated template that I'll add after each video, with questions pertaining to that relevant video and there will one correct answer that will be revealed after some time. I'm gonna put them in my LMS online. So is there a possibility to make it modular using JSON. Since I have to render each of those videos by adding the quiz template and then animating the answer reveal. So here's my query. I wanna make a JSON which will have the questions, and it will have 4 options and another 5th column which will have random numbers from 1 to 4, which will say which of the 4 options is the correct answer.  Can I somehow link the 5th

Usually, increasing fontSize from a left-edged Anchor Point pushes characters to the right of the layer's Anchor Point. With my set up, I'm seeing the opposite behavior. This makes it impossible to have controlled layouts - very bad thing. 

Hello everyone.  First of all, i'm a beginner in After Effects,so i really hope someone can help me. I'mhaving some trouble with the paint brush tool. My idea is to make an animation project.  I started with watching a tutorial, i firstly had to mask and the paint out some parts of the character. The problem is that the layers where i painted on for some reason last for a few frames. Let me explain better: The first seconds the layers are as if i never applicated any paint on them,and at some point  the paint comes back. In short,it applicates just for some frames. I don't know if i was clear enough,but i hope that someone managed to understand the problem,if anyone can help, it would be lifesaving. Thanks for reading.

Hi community. Today my post is about comminity members who use a TV monitor instead of PC monitor.  Im considering getting a TV monitor because they seem more afordable, and I need large screen to mount to my wall.  Is there any problems using AE with TV monitor? (I dont game at all), I just do simple graphics, use PS, AI, and AE for most of my projects.  Thank you. 

SYSTEM: M2 ultra mac on OS 15.1.1APP Version: After Effects 25.1 ISSUE: Any dialogue box - opening comp settings or even saving - causes AE to lock up. Boxes will not disappear unless you force quit. Also comp consisting of shape layers and native plug-ins opens but no picture visible. TRIED:  resetting preferences, starting in safe mode, uninstalling plugins.  FIX: downgrade to 25.01.

I'm sorry the title is confusing. I'm not sure how to describe this more succintly, but an example will tell you what I'm after:  I have a shape layer, a rectangle with rounded corners. I want it anchored from the top edge and I want to maintain the same radius of the rounded corners no matter what size changes I make to the rectangle. The size property seems to ignore both the layer anchor point and the (smaller) shape anchor point. Changes to the size property are anchored in the center of the shape. All I can get to work is an expression. It works great, but there must be an easier way that I'm missing! Adobe needs to address some basic issues in its software. A particularly frustrating one is that when you create a shape from an Illustrator layer with transparency, After Effects completely ignores the transparency. This seems like a simple fix, especially considering both programs are from Adobe. As paying subscribers, we expect essential improvements like this instead of having to rely on paid plugins to fix something that should work natively.

I didn't have any issue until one day while my AE project is set to full, this error pops up: I've already tried all the fixes. I emptied the disk cache, cleaned the database and cache, increased my maximum disk cache size (it was originally 100GB, I set it to 200GB), in the Memory settings I increased the allocation from 56GB to 58GB of RAM to be available for AE (I have 64GB of RAM total, so the max AE allows me to set it to is 58GB), and in the Project Settings I'm using Mecury GPU Acceleration (CUDA). Why am I still getting this error when 3GB is not the max amount of memory I allocated to it?

Hi, been having an issue where most of my panels do not render properly every time on startup. Essential panels like the timeline, tools, composition, and project do not have this issue, but most others do, as well as third party scriptUI panels.It happens to different panels each time, and the only way I am able to get them back is by resetting to default layout and undocking and redocking all of them. This still doesn't work all the time. I have had this problem for a while on After Effects 2024 (currently 24.6.4)I decided to upgrade to the latest version (25.1), and it did fix my issue. I copied over my scripts and plugins and it still works as normal. However I want to use the new cache features in the Beta 25.2, and using that version now has the same issue again. I am having the issue from first startup with no added plugins or scripts, and using the default layout.I have reinstalled multiple times and cleared both:C:\Users\dom\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects (Beta)

I have been trying to use warp stabilizer but it is getting stuck in its initalization stage. and later give message that it failed to connect to dynamic link. please help me solve this issue. cause its not working on any clips. 

Hello, I have some questions about extending a 20-second video clip to 60 seconds while maintaining its original speed.Using "time remapping" and dragging the last keyframe makes the video slower, and "time stretch" has the same effect. I also tried a loopout expression, but it just causes the video to restart at the last keyframe.I’d like to know if there’s a way to extend the video to fit a 60-second composition without changing the playback speed. In the screenshot attached, you will see my current timeline setup. The initial lenght of the video is 20 seconds. If you need more information, please let me know. Thanks!

Problem:I'm unable to resize the switches column. To be more accurate, I'm able to resize it, but the minimum width lets a lot of space on the right side.The problem occures only with this one. The other columns don't have any empty space (marked red in the image)  What I tried:Hovering over the intersection between two timeline columns at the top of the timeline, the mouse cursor changes to a double-ended arrow, I drag to the left until the column width doesn't change any further.Resetting the preferences and uninstalling (with deletion of the preferences)/reinstalling of After Effects. Expected result:Being able to reduce the size of the column to the first switch on the right side, so that there is not this much free space. I don't want to get rid of the switches entirely, just of the free space next to them. 

I have animation about 2 minutes long. It consists of 10 photo frames where each frame shows a simple animation. The camera moves from frame to frame and when the camera focuses on a frame, the animation is played for that frame. Is it possible to start playback of a pre-comp at a certain time in the main comp?

I am attempting to wiggle position of layer but in a staggered motion, not smooth, so each new wiggle generated position would appear, hold, then reappear in new wiggle position at a rate of every .5s...

Hey everyone! Recently worked on this AE project, I've tried to render it at least 4 times, all to no avail, besides taking forever to render, I keep getting hit with this message. Tried opening it with VLC  (and it just shows a black screen), changing the project settings, clearing cache, rendering with or without media encoder, and it just doesn't show me the video, either black screen through VLC, or hit with this message. The only thing I can think of is the project is pretty heavy and it has a Saber plugin but that's about it.   Any help would be appreciated!

HeyI have an issue latly where whem i for example zoom out and change keyframe the whole video is coruppted and went into a black screen as you see can someone help me out 

Hey guys. For some time now, when I download scenepacks from youtube, using chrome youtube downloaders, when I import my scenepack in mp4 into after effects, I just can't see it, it looks like an mp3 file, even though I can play it and see it outside of after effects. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried using yt-dlp but it's the same, will you give me an idea how to fix it, or any other youtube downloader that will work? Sometimes certain characters won't work in After Effects, and are changed into Myriad Pro. In the example, the letter capital "L" won't work, but will work perfectly well in Photoshop and Illustrator. In other fonts other letters won't work. Sometimes a letter will work in one AE project but not in another. After Effects 24.1.0 (build 78)Windows 10

Hi, I'm having trouble figuring out an 'easy' work around for a problem I'm having. I need a stroke outline to animate before a 'M' letter fills in. This stroke outline needs to be offset, so the 'M' shape/letter doesn't look bigger when complete (stroke animation and M letter fill in will happen simultaneously). Easy enough.When offset paths is on top of trim paths in order, this offset is fine and looks correct. However, this means I cannot change the first vertex point for trim paths to start and end from.When I put trim paths above offset paths to fix this first vertex point problem, the offset paths breaks and produces double lines that are no longer where i need them to be, 'inside' M letter shape.Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there more steps I need to take, to be able to control stroke offset and where trim paths starts from. I need to do this for a bunch of layers for a logo design so was hoping there was a fix for my issue going forward. Thanks, G

for some reason it wont cover the entire shape just the rectangular size in the middle, anybody have any ideas on how to fix it?

im trying to do an effect where i made 3 masks of a car and have them shatter but some reason on the first frame they just instantly become a bunch of epices with 0 animation.  i googled it and watched like 10 videos about it idk what im doing wrong. please help

when i try and use 3d tracking the points show up but no targets or anything show up and i cannot select tracking points. i have show layer controls on and im on active camera and have detailed analysis on, ive tried in many different projects with different footage and watched a bunch of videos and looked at other posts about it and have tried everything. please help
