After Effects

hi, recently my after effects (2024&2025) has been really slow (genuinely takes 10 minutes to load a single effect+freezes) even though i have good specs. i have no idea how to fix this. i cleared all my caches and nothing happens. it has never been this slow before.

In previous versions (24.6.4) expression calls to "thisComp.activeCamera" when there is no Camera layer present in the composition returns "Default" (falls back to the Default 3D camera). In 25.1 it produces an error "No active camera at time 00:00:00:00". Wrapping these calls in a try/catch moving forward. Stats: Windows 11 23H2, 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz

I am trying to have after effects 2020 use my GPU to render my comp. So far my online research has lead to the conclusion that very little effects use gpu and I understand that. But I am using trapcode form and rowbyte plexus plugins that I know to be using GPU (or atleast thats what they advertise).I have installed cuda drivers 10.2, in AE project settings I have selected selected mercury CUDA. I am using cinema 4d as 3d engine, in trapcode form plugins I have selected rendering acceleration as GPU. Despite all these steps I am still not able to see any GPU activity (2-5% max usage). Is there anything I am missing here?Also in my settings -> preview -> gpu information, I only see openGL. I should see cuda there too which is missing. Please help.

Hi, I don't understand why but After Effects crashes when I try to start the program on my Mac Mini M1 OS Sequoia. I used to use it without any problem before but now it won't even start. There is no error message; it simply won't start. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Hey, I've been trying to create a graphic animation template in after effects for premerie for hours, but I keep getting the same errors. When I click on "Export graphic animation template" in the Essentail Graphics window in After Effects, I first confirm saving and then I always get the same error

I have always had the continuously rasterize button available to me but now any new comp's/project files do not have the button. I like to bring in Illustrator layers and this is forcing me to import old project comps to get access to the button. Am I missing something?

since the new update on after effects 2025 I've realised that the transparant animation i used before has a black background.Before that it was transparant.is there a way i can fix this? Please share

If my After Effects project is set to 8-bit but I choose 16-bit in the render settings, will that result in an actual increase in color depth, or does it simply render the existing 8-bit data in a 16-bit format? Will it still utilize the original 16-bit data from the footage and effects during rendering?

Hello, I just installed Rubber hose 2. but It does not show the stroke. instead, it shows a dotted line.I have changed the project setting expression from java to legacy. still, nothing works! Please help.  

I have a long expression but, isolating and trouble shooting one part of it for example's sake: z = time; throw z;Values are inconsistent, and innaccurate. For example, in a 2 second, 23.976 fps comp:Frame 24 (1 second) throws z as 2.002 seconds. Frame 12 (0.5 seconds)... also 2.002 seconds. Deleting the code, then re pasting it exactly the same as before:Frame 24 (1 second) throws z as 0.95 seconds. Frame 12 (0.5 seconds)... back to 2.002 seconds.Back to Frame 24 (1 second), we're back to 2.002 again.  Seems like after a few clicks, the time variable is gets "caught" by the comp duration.Any ideas?   

There are fonts, where the numbers are "old style figures" (screenshot).In InDesign and Illustrator it's no problem to change them to normal "Lining Figures" via OpenType configurations. I couldn't find that in After Effects. Is there any way to change that in AE?

Every time I open my new project after following these instructions, this message pops up on the screen again.  

I have completed an edit in Premiere which has a mixture of Rec709 and 2100 HLG footage, the sequence is set to 709. When I replace an Rec2100 clip with After Effects Composition, AE appears to interpret the footage completely differently from PR. I tried setting interpreting the footage to 709 and replacing clip this way but same problem. I started brand new projects and imported and set everything manually and the same problem still occurs.  I've checked that all colour management settings match, interpreted footage to make sure they're the same colour space... I've tried everything I can possibly think of to get the AE comp to look the same colour as it does on the PR timeline... but I just can't get them to match.  Any ideas?

Warp stabilizer has seemed to stop working despite normal trouble shooting methods. no crashes, just never proceeds form the "Analyzing step 1" stage

Hallo,I have installed last version of Maxon Cinema4D 2025, I got latest version of After Effects 2024 and even beta 2025 on my machine. When I try to load or create c4d file, afx says there is no cinema4D 2024. Is there a way to change path somewhere or do I have to wait for adobe plugin update cineware 2025 ? Is it even planed ?Thank you.JLukas

My project is set at 24fps, in Preferences > Import > Sequence Footage I have set 24fps for every footage I import.When importing a PSD file as a Composition, this comp is set at 29.97fps. Same thing for every PSD group. I import many PSD every day, so it is annoying to remember every time that I have to manually change framerate.Is there a way to set the default framerate of an imported PSD file?thanks,Lo

 I didn't use about a month. Meantime, updated to After Effect program 23.6. I want to use AE, but Program give me crash and a message prompt:"We detected a crash in your last session. Crashes can potentially be caused by faulty plugins or corrupt preferences. We recommend starting a Safe Mode session in order to diagnose the problem. Parenting Option gone on AE 2025!Was fine on all previous versions including 2025 but when the new one auto installed it was no longer available.

Since I updated my computer, my sapphire, and effects and presets tabs have not worked and instantly crashed after-effects.

Hello, I am having trouble exporting a transparent video from AE. I have made the background transparent on my video as well as the fill (only a short animation of the stroke), Everything shows up correct on the AE preview with the right transperincies the problem is the export. When I add it to the render queue I make sure to change the settings to:QuickTime, RGB + Alpha, Apple ProRes 4444and it still comes out with a black background... I've tried compressing the file after and selecting preserving but still black.  Please help! Thank you

I would like to animate a number going from 10^1 to 10^10, by having the exponent count from 1 to 10.I have a slider going from 1 to 10 and then set the source text with an expression.But then I can't set this exponent to be in superscript.How do I do this?

Hi, I have a question. so recently I ended a project. It was 4000 x 4000. but later I needed it into 1980x1020. so I copied (Copy paste) the original AE file in the same folder and Created a new project with 1920 x 1080 dimension. and imported the copied AE file into the new project and from there I am redoing some animation  to fit 1920 x 1080 screen. After a while suddenly a thought came into mind and it drives me crazy. Will this copied AE file hamper the original one (4000 x 4000). Yes or No, Please help me. Yes or No
