After Effects

Heya. I'm not that good at After Effects, so go easy on me.I have a video of me talking, and it has hundreds of jump-cuts. I do lots of visual effects like smoke and cinders, on different layers. I would like the smoke and cinders to match the jump-cuts of my master video so that it looks seamlessly part of the environment.I have a CSV file of all the jump-cuts (which frame it occurs at and how long the jump-cut is for), and I figured I could somehow use this data to create time-remapping for the particle layers.To be clear, the particle layers such as the smoke are all short videos, perhaps 10 seconds long, and it seamlessly loops, so I've been using loopout() to just make it repeat over and over for the duration of the master video.I would like this to be as efficient as possible, because this composition is a template for all future videos I make.Here is the layout of the CSV file containing all the jump-cuts from my master video (I extracted the data from Premiere):"Clip Number,Cut

I downloaded a video (MOV format )from adobe stock that says it has an alpha channel with a transparent background. I can't figure out how to use this when importing it into after effects in order to have the background show as transparent instead of black. Any font, any layer set-up the text layers input or editing is lagging for about 1-2 seconds after keystrokes. Pasting more than 10 words sometimes crashes the app. Started somewhere in 2021, still an issue.  Win11, v25.1.0 

So, I'm sure we're ALL aware of the fact after effects cannot run on sonoma (aside from 23.6 and 24.0) PLEASE, please pleaseeee tell me adobe is working on fixing this... I use AE2020 and I really don't want to switch 23.6 & 24.0, especially since we cannot use rosetta on 24.0 😕😕 I'm literally losing my mind here. I edit for a hobby, and the fact I can't edit right now all because of an ios update is just frustrating.  So please, anyone who works at adobe, please try to fix after effects & any other software to be better compatible for sonoma. it sucks not having to edit.

Im having this problem when i import any image (png, ai, psd, anything). AE is interpreting the image as offline.But when i close and open the after effects, the image is there.Anyone having this same problem and found a solution?thks !After Effects Error: Illegal XML character "”in string....    

Hello,In the last few months, since the 2025 update, I’ve noticed that the program lags significantly. I’m not referring to the preview, but to the operation of the program itself. For example, when I create a shape, it struggles to follow the mouse movements. Or, when I type an expression, it takes about a second for each letter to appear, and so on. I’ve tried all the settings, but nothing worked. I even reinstalled the 2024 version for testing, and it works perfectly fine.Could you let me know if this bug can be resolved?

Hi, Is there any plug-in or script just for zeroing out AE properties after I am happy with their position/rotation.I don't wanna do it manually every time with null. Or using Duik one. Any expert here knows any plug-in just for zeroing out AE properties. Thank you.

I am always having issues with this, and I don't know the solution. Everytime I use the 'Trim Time In' feature, the clip is cut at the in point based on my time indicator.But when I use the 'Trim Time Out' shortcut, the footage still extends a frame too far beyond the time indicator. How to I get around this. I am often duplicating layers and needing the beginning cut off one, and the end cut off the other so they match up exactly.

Hi, I am making a scene using 3d camera tracker, did everything and then i add some environmental light to make scene good and but when i tried to caste shadows it's only casting shadow to only one 3d object (the one who is closed to camera), and even on that one object, shadow is not casting properly. Can anyone help me

What I'm trying to accomplish is to have a specific number in an expression change based off a number in the composition name. I have a character rig composition which needs to be used in several seperate compositions (Scenes). I have attached the rig controls to expression controls in a seperate Scene. However, in order to animate the character in each seperate Scene, I need to dedicate a character rig composition for each scene. For Example, Character Rig_Scene 1 is used in Scene 1, Character Rig_Scene 2 is used in Scene 2, etc. Each time I duplicate my Character Rig_Scene #, I'd like the number to automatically change in the comp("Scene #") part of the expression. So comp("Scene 4") will pull the number from "Character Rig_Scene 4" composition. Can this be accomplished? If so, what's a good approach? Thanks for your help. Please see photo for more context. 

Hey guys, I'm having a really big issue with After Effects...  I'm trying to create a talking head with the audio waves matching the voices of the people in the podcast (1 hour), however, the shape disappears after minute 5 (and I need it to stay there for 60 minutes). You can see the images below. The first 5 minutes, it stays without any problem and after 5 minutes, it just disappears. I don't know if this is a bug or not... I've tried everything I possibly can to fix it, I watched every tutorial I can and tried everything. Tenho uma máquina dedicada a edição de vídeo, que deveria rodar sem muito problemas o Premiere e o After Effects, porém recentemente meu After tem acusado várias vezes memória insuficiente para o programa, o que não faz muito sentido pois a alguns dias usava ele tranquilamente. I created a composition in AE of a lower-third that has blending modes. I tried importing it into Premiere, but the blending mode didn't transfer. I also tried bringing my Premiere Pro video into After Effects and then laying my lower-third composition on top, but that didn't work either. Is there a way to get blending modes to either transfer from AE to PP or work between multiple compositions in AE?

After I installed the after effect 2025 in my laptpot it`s can`t preview any composations or any layers GPU : rtx4050ram :16 cpu : i7 13th gen

I've tried everything I've found on every forum. Even had a two hour screen sharing with  Adobe Tech Support. Below is the error I get in 17.1.1 when loading After Effects. And this is what first showed in 17.1 that made me try and update but then everything got worse.  It just started happening, the only thing that has been changed recently is that I installed the WebM export plugin.  Anyone has any ideas? I've tried moving the Cycore folder, renaming the Media Core, Updating the OpenCL.dll.  Nothing seems to be working anymore. All other plugins are working fine except those ones.

Running through powershell, it works fineBut running through an apache web server, it crashes with the error "The Common Extensibility Platform (CEP) suite couldn't be loaded.".     $command = '"C:\\Program Files\\nodejs\\node.exe" C:\\Users\\blabla\\script_that_calls_AE.js'; exec($command)    Why is that? Thanks

Hi There Im learning how to create mogrt and learning expressions and i was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice on the below? i have a rectangle main body with a smaller rectangle inside, i need to give the ability for the smaller rectangle to move from one side to the other when the user wants it to and then back to its original position when they want it to.   im very very new to expressions and would love to know if there is a way to do this? i have seen ways of doing similar with texts but was wondering if there is a way to do it with shape layers, pre-comps etc thank you Kind regards Hugo Campos 

when i open why after effect my screen showed black but when i change why screen front to active camera my solid layer showed up but its  not showed up in front camera but when i do my layer or convert it in 3d layer showed up ?? why this is happening  

How can I slo-mo a single object in AE while the rest of the video is playing at normal speed? Ex. a clip of someone shooting a basketball, the basketball is in slo mo while the player is running at normal speed (and the rest of the video)Thanks!

Software: Cinema 4D R18 e After Effects cc 2017.1With Cinema 4D I made the car.With After Effects I want to apply a realistic light to the front light.In Cinema 4D, the machine is animated in a null object.Then I created a null object (for the light in After Effects) that I put as a child to the null object of the animation and it follows perfectly the animated path.The problem arises when I use a camera.If I do not use any camera, when I open the .c4d project in After Effects, the null object follows perfectly the center of the front light.If instead I use a camera, the null object is not at the center of the lighthouse and does not follow the animation perfectly, why?How can I fix it? I absolutely need to use the camera. Thank you.

Everything works as it should, until I decided to render something. While rendering in After Effects, a window or something is opened somewhere and it makes all scripts useless, they do not respond to user input at all, and that's fine to me. It works the same for all scripts that I tested.The real problem is with event listeners. Scripts that use them will generate a background error if any listener is activated.
