After Effects

Hi everyone,I've been using After Effects for years, and this is the first time I've encountered a glitch like this. Typically, to create a nice shadow quickly, I stack multiple Drop Shadow effects and vary their opacity, distance, and softness. However, it seems that now, when I add a new Drop Shadow effect, it duplicates the previous one, causing the second one to have 2 shadows instead of 1. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any ideas on how to resolve it?Thanks in advance for your help! 

(AE 2021) trying to content aware fill a subject out of this footage but all it does id generate a fill layer that completely empty, practically useless. Ive watch many tutorials and I follow their instructions exactly yet i get the same error. I've also tried an older version of AE and it still doesn't work. I've only seen one other person online with this issue and that question is unanswered. I'd appreciate if I could get some help. Heres some before and after images, as you can see the fill layer is there but its a png for some reason and it does absolutely nothing 

Hello,  I'm trying to export an animated GIF from AE but I'm getting this strange orange pixel effect shown below in the top left of the still. It seems whenever I use a feathered mask or an opacicty drop, this happens.   I also tried to export a mov file from AE to import into Photoshop to create the GIF from there, but PS said there was not enough memory.Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks, 

I have a text animation I have done that uses the Character Offset.  Currently it randomizes the text using all of the letters in the alphabet. I have Character Range set to Perserve Case and Digits.  What I want is it to use the same letters I have in my source text so I don't get random letters.  Lets say it says "WELCOME HOME"  It would randomize the text using only the letters that exist in this text, not other letters like V or Z.  I am a bit rough on my scripting as I have not done this in years with After Effects and every thing I have tried, including other examples I found, doesn't seem to work.  Can anyone give me insight as to an expression that can do this?  Thanks a lot!

okay so, i have an AI file with about 400-500 red dots, the dots are already in the shape of a heart, however i need them to start off as just random dots and then they slowly starting forming into the heart, but not a solid heart, it still has to look like dots made a heart.instead of doing this by hand, what can i do? see attached for the storyboard.instead of doing this by hand, what can i do?

Need import c4d null animation to Ae as bezier, for example with 2 bezier keys at start and in the end instead of a bunch of baked keyframes 

I’ve been having an issue with After Effects where my project files keep crashing whenever I try to open them, but this only happens if I have the Boris Continuum plugin installed. I’m currently using Boris Continuum 2024.5 with After Effects 2019. As soon as I try to load a project that uses the plugin, After Effects crashes instantly.I’ve already tried reinstalling both After Effects and Boris Continuum, but no luck so far. Has anyone else experienced something similar or have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

 I'm working on an animation. However, the keyframes stop moving in the main comp at exactly 2 minutes, while in the pre-comp they continue to play. The main comp and all pre comps are over 2 minutes long. How is this possible? How can i solve this? 

Hello everyone,I have a question to a problem I am facing:I created an animation and I need to render it to the exact format size 42240 x 96 px.It's for a sports stadium.However AE doesn't allow any composition above 30000 x 30000 px.  Do you know of any way to achieve this format size, maybe in combination with Media Encoder, etc?

After effects is eating away at my application memory. For some reason when ever I try using the content aware fill effect, it will analyse up to 37% every single time then show up with "Your system has run out of application memory" as seen in the attached photo. Before pressing generate, I had 120gb storage free on my mac and by the time it hits 37% and forces me to quit it has eaten up 45gb of starage and says that after effects is using over 100gb even though it is a very simple 10 second composition with nothing else done to it apart from this effect which won't work. Im running a fairly new M3 chip with 18gb of ram. If anyone could suggest any potential fixes asap that would be greatly appreciated,Cheers.

I am operating off a Macbook Pro M2 Max 96GB, 2TB that is ridiculously slow in After Effects. The RAM will be totally maxed out after a few minutes when performing even the simplest of tasks with just a few layers. This has been an incredibly frustrating thing to deal with and I am in need of some real answers from Adobe. I make a living from these programs and there should be no reason that with this powerful of a machine AE cant handle simple functions. I am primarily a 2D and do not use any arrays of plugins, or 3D features.  I have been working in After Effects for nearly 10 years now on machines that were well under these current specs and I have never once had trouble like this. This is a real issue and it seems that I'm not the only one either. Attached are screenshots showing the AE RAM usage.  Any support will be very much appreciated.  

Hiya,New to after effects. I think I have achieved this before potentially through creating a custom keyboard shortcut but have forgotten how. Ultimately I would like to create/know a shortcut that moves the Current time Indicator to where my cursor is positioned on the timeline.

When attempting to open a file dialog (Import footage, Apply Animation Preset, select Render output are the crashes I have encountered so far), I get the crash dialog and (at least in 2024) the chance to save a file.  The save dialog also crashes, however, and in 2024 I no longer have the option of sending a crash report. Have uninstalled 2022 and 2023, have deleted my User prefs folder from Documents/Adobe/version/User Presets, and am absolutely dead in the water. Any ideas how I can get back to work?

When i launch after effects (on adobe and normally) it says it has crashed and i say safe mode and other stuff but when it starts to load it closes it self in like 2 seconds and i tried every option holded shift opened as admin and nothing worked this happened after i reinstalled it.

my PC: Hi, I've installed After Effects versions 24.1.1 and 24.6.1, but sometimes when I preview the project, hit play, or just work in the program, it closes with no reason. At first, I thought maybe I'm importing a heavy file like 4k and 8k, but it's not the case. Sometimes the program closes even when I'm just previewing a simple 1080p file with no other effects added.i also changes my cashes to a different SSD and cleared the cash every 1 hour. butstill have the same issue.   My PC: intel core i 9 14900kGPU:  Nvidia Geforce rtx 3080tiRam: crosaire DDR5 64Gb 6000SSd: Samsung  SSD 990 pro 1Tb Please help, I have several projects that need to be completed within a few days, and I'm struggling with searching on Google.

Hi,I'm interested in the Filmstrip export function which I think was dropped from After Effects after CS4 and I think from Premiere after CS3.I realise that it's possible to draw on top of video frame by frame in the Photoshop CC2018 Timeline - and that's great, it's a very useful feature.However I was trying to create a distressed effect across a video where precision as part of the process was not the priority - a little like in this music videoStupid Girl by Garbagehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GhPUAVgHZcWorking frame by frame in the Photoshop CC2018 Timeline would have been too time consuming to achieve something like this.But I found that dealing with all the frames as a single large image was more practical.I'm still relatively new to After Effects so if there's any better way of doing what I describe below, please let me know as I'd be interested to hear about it.This link (which I think belongs to Adobe) has the older versions of After Effects / Premiere / Photoshop that sti

Hi, Just ran through probably 4th session with the AI to try to solve this issue, but "we" just can not solve it. I have a shape layer path that defines a frontline on a battle map. It is defined by even hundreds of individual vertices and some keyframes that then shows frontline changes through time. There are days where the frontline on the battle map does not change, even though in reality it does. So I have the vertices and keyframes defined on those static days without any changes, with the same value. What my goal is, is to use an expression (or a script?) to have it "ignore" the keyframes where there are no vertice movements, and get it to basically skip showing static vertices (with same values) on neighboring keyframes, and link vertices only with the next vertice that has a change in its value. So to have a continual and smooth animation.Assuming I explained this well, is this something that AE can achieve via expressions/scripts, or does something like that ha

I don't know if the title makes sense, but I installed some scripts on After Effects, and some of them are bigger than my screen resolution and I can't access some options.I just need to find a way to scroll down and see the rest of the panel to use the scripts properly.My screen resolution is 1366x768.  Thanks!!

1. I have a simple text layer.  2. I have a rectangle shape layer. 3. I alpha matte inverted the shape to the text so that the text is black on the white rectangle. 4. I have this red texture that I want to alpha matte to just the rectangle, while still keeping the text black. 5.  But when I do that, the rectangle is covered by the texture but the text is hidden. I just want my black text to show on this new alpha matted rectangle with the red texture. I need to use alpha mattes to acheive this effect as I'm trying to do something else with this premise. Why doesn't it work, a tutorial I'm following shows these exact steps to get this result. What am I doing wrong??? This is the result I want to acheive.
