After Effects

In any lesson, I can see that when I click on the Track Matte tab, there are 4 options: Alpha Inverted Matte, Luma Matte, Alpha Matte, Luma Inverted Matte.  When I open this tab, I only have the option to select the layers I've already created, and I can't find an explanation of how to toggle this. (I'm using the latest version of After Effects) I just can't continue my studies because of this little problem( 

Hey. First time on Adobe Fourms so hopefully it's not in the wrong place. I've got a MacBook Air 2015 model which I've recently learnt won't run (more so render) anything on after effects. Is there a possibility of running AE (or creative cloud itself) on something like a remote device or off of an external cloud based server i.e. running off shadow, or AWS server, so I can get the specs I need without splashing cash on a £1k PC? Hope you understand the question, thanks for all taking time to read! J 

Hello, I am cloning part of a frame onto the next frame and tracking it to the end.  Just when I alt click on the position and pickwhip it to the tracking the clone jumps out of its original position and looks terrible.  What am I doing wrong to get this?  Why doesnt it stay in place?

Hello,I started running into a serious problem which totally hindered the post production of our feature film. Every time I try to track via Mocha AE, it force closes After Effects with no warning or crash report. It just shuts down.This happens each time I click on cancel when the "Suppressor Warning" menu pops up or if I do full resolution, this time AE shuts down as soon as I save Mocha tracking and exit. So basically exiting Mocha force closes AE without giving me any chance to save the project.My system is Windwows 10 Pro. Ryzen 7 3700x 64 GB Ram.

Hi! Whenever I want to add a third-party preset file (it contains Twixtor) my After Effects just closes with no message just nothing.. This only started happening when I resetted my pc a few weeks ago and I've got no idea how to fix this nor do I remember how I made the preset.. does anyone know how to fix this or not?

The following error message occurs; "after effects warning: roto brush strokes cannot be added until the current frame has finished rendering" It immediately and continually pops up when I try to use the brush. It is making the tool unuseable right now. Any ideas what might be causing this? I've only just updated it.  I've cleared disk cache etc.   

Quite often when I have a folder full of multiple image sequences that I want to import, if I check on the "Multiple Sequences" button, it will import them in chunks or as individual images. Then I have to cancel and undo. Or sometimes it won't even let me select all of my images, so I can't even check that button.So then I'm forced to import each sequence individually, which takes exponentially longer. Is there a fix for this? I'm on Win 10 on a Threadripper 3960X, but this has happened to me many, many times over the years on different machines.Alternatively, could you include a preference to show image sequences as a single file when importing? Then for example I'd see 5 files instead of 500. Thanks.

Hi! I'm here to ask if anyone has gone through this issue other than me, this issue just arose today,  prior to that i've never had this problem.  Some of the shortcuts I regulalrly use whilst editing my videos on aftereffects are not working in the right way,  for example; the keyboard shortcut to trim a layer to the timestamp marker is Alt+[ for windows, but instead of that happening, it's instead just doing the [ command only and moving my clip forward to meet the timestamp. Another one is that when I use the shortcut to apply an adjustment layer which is Ctrl+Shift+Y, it instead is doing the command Ctrl+Y and opening up a solid layer. I have tried going into the keyboard shortcuts to see if maybe there is an issue there and I have to manually change the command but that doesn't seem to be the issue. So if anyone has any tips please do let me know! Thank You.

hello people, i'm making an edit of me standing in front of the camera (in open air) Then I look to my left, and want to show the viewer what I'm looking at. So i turn the camera to the left and a big asteroïd is hanging in the sky. This asteroid is of course a still image.  i want the asteroid coming in with the swipe (and therefore the background)  very smoothly and stay at it's place when the camera movement stops. Tried it uncountable times with position keyframes but it just doesn't work. There's probably a solution here but didn't find it yet. Anyone can give me (a link to) the right answer? 

I started using the 2023 version of After Effects not too long time ago.Before that, I keep using the 2019 version.The reason is that the left item is missing from the switch view item, so I can't use the upper version anymore.When I usually work in 3D, I used to choose 4view - left.I have no choice but to use the 2023 version, but I don't have a left view item, so it's very inconvenient to work on it.Can't you give this back???Please give it back.This is stressing me out.

Hi,I have a shape layer, render changed to “cinema 4d”, extrude the layer in 3d space.I can add solid colors to “front, back, side” etc. How can I either add a texture to the front (glass or something), change the material of the whole layer (like in cinema 4 itself) if that is an option in AFX (?) or at least change the opacity of the front only (not the other sides), so it would become some kind of “glass/transparent” box (but still looks 3d)? I probably could split up into 2 layers (one just top flat surface, one 3d for behind with inverted mask of 1st) but is there another way? To keep it as simple as possible (because a lot of individual shapes).Thanks!

After updating the latest version Media Encoder v24 crashes all the time. and I uninstalled the latest version to the previous version, but still, the crash happened. what to do next.

I can't import PSD file. It's freezing and I have to force quit AE 24.1.0. In After  Effects 24 beta version this import is woking fine.

Does anyone know how to make blossom flowers like in the video attached? Thanks

Looking for ANY testimonials or suggestions for best video card for AE. I am looking to get a new laptop and wanna spec it out so the graphics card, processor(s), memory, RAM, SSD & whatever other specs are needed.  If more info is needed, I am a daily-casual user and want to expand my AE skills and not be limited by a slow PC/Video card. 

Hello, I have a problem with my after effect, every time I tried to work on it, it only works for the first 2 minutes and then the preview freezes, everything else works, I've tried several hints from the internet but nothing works, could anyone give me some advice please? 

Hello everyone!I'm stuck whit what I think is a newbie problem and I would appreciate any input on how to solve it.The thing is that I have a keyframed animated linear wipe on several rectangles that are mirrored so they act as a "curtain" and reveal the video underneath when they open from the center. I have keyframed the In & Out animations. The problem is that I can't find a way to add a wiggle effect on the linear wipe that works only in the span of time when the curtains are open.All info I can find is related to keyframe the wiggle effect with the slider control. Is there a way to add a wiggle to an already keyframed linear wipe?Thanks!

After Effects was working and very smooth for me. I have 32 gigs of ram. One day out of no where is started being EXTREMELY slow. 500 ms now, 0 ms then. This doesn't make ANY sense.

So I put a time icon in my song so it can have a little more visual appearance. Just one issue...It's a few seconds ahead of how long the song actually is. I’ve created a Pseudo Effect that has multiple slider controls, amongst other things. I need the slider controls to have default expressions already applied to the Slider whenever the Effect is applied.I am able to apply default values, but is there a way to apply expressions in the same way? Can someone tell me why my After Effect Preview stops workong every time when I put some heavy/hard effects on my timeline? I have my laptop system here shown too. I think that I have a good MSI Laptop that should render out my effects easily. 😕😕 Please help Me.

So I've been racking my brain trying to solve this problem for awhile first by checking other community posts, but it seems to have been to no avail. I am trying to use the 3D camera to apply some basic floating text effects without the hassle of keyframing (that's a big part of what it's for, right?). But for some reason, every time I try to apply it, it gives me this at around frame 10-16 of analyzing, usually frame 16.Some info for my setup and program settings:- Binned M3 Max 14 inch MacBook Pro w/ 36gb of RAM running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1- 4000x3000 25fps GoPro Hero Black 11 Footage (mp4)- Comp Settings match pixel size and FPS of the footage- After Effects Version 24.3 So far I have tried the following, naturally to no effect: - Restarting my Mac and trying again- Starting After Effects in Safe Mode- Changing the 3D Renderer to Advanced 3D- Copying ALL of the files from my working drive and directly onto the computer's hard drive and opening the project file that way.- Re

I can not get my layer to show in the layer panel of my composition in after effects, therefore I can not use the clone stamp tool. Anyone know why the layer does not show up? The layer is visible, and is active.

Cada vez que intento exportar el video a través de la cola de procesamiento, al verlo en archivos me dice que "no se encuentra el archivo" o si lo intento reproducir me dice que no se puede reproducir el video por algo del almacenamiento interno.Agradezco de antemano la ayuda 🙏.
