After Effects

Hi,I need some guidance. How can I have a blurry end in stroke after applying Trim path animation? I have been trying for hours, studying motion blur, trying masking, feathering masks, Echo effect and what not 😠...  but am rowing like a rudderless boat.. am going nowhere. I want a blurry stroke end when the trim path animation stops.. but every time my trim path animation gives me a hard edge and no aesthetic view.. What can I do?? 😥 Please guide me..  

There does not seem to be a way to import any of the Procreate export options into AE. The most likely option (because it has an option for transparent background)  is called Animated PNG, a format I have not seen before. I'm using a new Macbook pro and the Animated PNG does play from the finder by pressing the space bar but not by opening it in Preview even though all the frames (layers) are there.  When I import it into anything and I have tried AE, Premier, Quicktime and VLC player but all you get is the first frame appearing in the timeline. The only way I have found is to export all the layers as a sequenced image file, but I must flatten all the layers and it's a very laborious process. Of course, I have written to Procreate to ask if they can in the future develop other export options, but I also wanted to see if this Animated PNG is one that can be opened as a moving image file at some point?

I'm in an animation class where the teacher showed us a way to create a .PSD file with multiple layers and import it into After-Effects as a sequence so it plays the layers like frames for an animation, but I'm not able to re-create it from home. I have a .PSD with layers named from 001 - 030 that I attempt to import into my After-Effects composition. I checkmarked the Import as Sequence, the Create Composition, and the Force Alphabetical Order boxes and set AE to import the .psd as "Composition - Retain Layer Sizes". I've tried about as many variations of this as I can, but when I import this I end up with a new composition that somehow uses all of the other files on my desktop (where the .psd is located) instead of the frames of the .psd. What am I doing wrong and how can I make this work? Thanks in advance.

I developed a plugin whose functionality requires reading and judging precise RGB values, and ultimately calculating and exporting HEX color data.Therefore, I want all internal computations to be performed strictly in an 8-bit environment.However, when an After Effects project is set to 16-bit or 32-bit color, AE automatically converts the pixel depth for plugins that only support 8-bit input.This conversion introduces unwanted color noise (as shown in the GIF below), which is not the behavior I want.In addition, my plugin contains many functions and processing steps, and I don’t want to duplicate the same logic two more times just to support 16-bit and 32-bit modes.So, my question is:Is there a way to make the plugin compatible with 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit projects while still using a single shared set of functions?For example, could I convert the 16-bit or 32-bit input down to 8-bit inside the plugin itself?Letting After Effects handle the bit-depth conversion automatically causes

Been using AE 2024 and eventually earlier versions of 2025 for a long running project. We've been using EXR renders from Unreal Engine and using eXtractor and cryptomattes. It's all been fine until the latest After Effects updates where using EXRs became basically unusable. It takes forever for AE to show any EXR frames, trying to preview anything is a nightmare, and trying to render an EXR sequence takes incredibly long. Ae has been great up until these last few updates and is now basically completely useless with EXRsI have 2 desktop PCs, both run Win11. (yes, Windows and GPU drivers etc are all up to date.)One has an AMD 5800x CPU + RTX3080 tiThe other Intel i7 9700k CPU + RTX3080For both desktops, the projects and files are one one nvMe SSD and all AE caching is to another nvMe SSDAfter Effects now absolutely sucks on both systemsAny advice to get After Effects back to a usable state with EXRs would be appreciated

Hi everyone,I’m running into a Dynamic Link issue between Premiere Pro and After Effects. In Premiere, I select a single clip in the timeline and choose “Replace with After Effects Composition.” After Effects opens, asks me to save a new .aep, creates a new composition—but the composition is empty. The selected Premiere clip does not appear inside the comp. Back in Premiere, the timeline item links to that AE comp, but since it’s empty, there’s no media.I’ve tried to make sure I’m selecting a normal video clip (not an adjustment layer or an empty track). In some cases it might be nested or multicam. I verified the clip has real duration, tested in a fresh project where it sometimes works, cleared media caches in both apps, killed the Adobe Dynamic Link Manager process and rebooted, saved the .aep to a simple local path, disabled hardware acceleration temporarily, turned proxies off, removed effects from the clip, and confirmed that both Premiere Pro and After Effects are on the same ma

I need help fixing this ASAP...I cannot open the software. Every time I reboot it, it crashes on the crash repair options screen. I've uninstalled and re-installed, deleted all preferences, I don't know what else to do. Hi, I'm having a problem with CC Particle World that I'm unsure how to solve. I am trying to do a "laser printing effects". I have a shape layer with a path. I attached the null object to this path to follow the trim path end. Then I attach CC Particle World producer positions to follow the null. It looks fine, but when I add the camera and start rotating the producer position is off. Is it possible to ensure that the producer is always positioned on the surface of the shape layer, regardless of the camera's position and rotation?I would appreciate help with that. I attached the project file.

Hi, I've basically been given two different illustrations where the strokes are curved differently, and trying to find a way to animate between the two. I can accomplish that by keyframing the path of the first stroke, then copying the path of the second stroke, and pasting it further down the timeline. However, when it's transitioning, there are some sharp corners that form, that don't really fit the fluidity of what I'm going for. I'm guessing this is in part because the first path has more points than the ending path. Is there any way to remedy this besides going in manually and adjusting the anchor points? Some sort of smoothing method?Thank you. 

Issue - When I animate the "amount" property for turbulent displace, when the effect is applied to a layer, the layer snaps to a transformed (literally position and scale) state exactly when the interpolation finishes. Steps to reproduce -  Apply Turbulent displace to a layer in a comp that is readied to be exported as a MOGRT from essential graphics. Animate the "amount". This happened for any values I tried, but lately I've been trying from 50 to 0 over about 1 second. Easing didn't seem to change anything. Export the comp as a MOGRT Place the MOGRT in a timeline in Premeire Pro v25. The CTI won't reproduce the error, but when you scrub, play in the timeline, render the clip, or export media, the glitch will occur. Expected result - A nice, wavy effect.Actual result - The layer will fly off into an unpredictable transform change. It will sometimes shift over, and sometimes disappear (I assume just out of view).Adobe Aft

When using the Roto Brush effect, 'Reset' should initialize the effect to the state it was when applied to a layer for the first time. But unfortunately it does not. Reproduce:Choose the Rotobrush tool, start painting on footage. Hit reset. See how the paint strokes still remain.

This is a very simple and straightforward composition with simple effects like levels and only keyframes of scale and position. It was doing okay the previous day and then one time I purged all memory & disk cache then this happened. I'm only having problem with this project. Whenever I interact with any part of After Effects—such as opening the Window menu, stopping the preview, starting the preview, selecting a composition, clicking a layer, or even deselecting one—the application briefly freezes, and my Mac cursor changes to the spinning loading (wait) indicator before responding. This delay occurs consistently with nearly every click or action, making the interface feel unresponsive and sluggish.Additionally, I have a third-party plug-in, FX Console, and whenever I use my assigned shortcut keys to open its search bar, After Effects freezes momentarily, shows the loading cursor, and then nothing appears—the FX Console panel fails to open altogether.

I imported an illustrator file into Aftereffects and then noticed I needed to make some adjustments (these adjustments were mainly putting shapes into new groups so that I could manupulate them in Aftereffects better.)I have live update enabled in Aftereffects , so after I finished my adjustments I clicked save on the Illustrator file. When I went back to Aftereffects, I saw that the shapes I placed into the new groups were gone completely, and only the old groups remained. I tried looking in the composition and the file layers in imported files column, but no luck. Reload footage seems to be disabled.  Is there any way to fix this? I know a quick fix would be to re-import the scene, but I want to know for the future in case I'm deep into a project and have to do this without reseting the transforms and layering done within Aftereffects.

I stopped using after effects for about a month, tried opening it and had this problem, not really sure what could be causing this problem, ive uninstalled after effects and creative cloud as a whole but that did nothing. Ive tried starting in administrator, deleting my preference folder, allowing all adobe software through my firewall. I cant really think of anything else to try so if anyone has any ideas please let me know, if you need more information let me know.Thanks   Title edited by Mod.

Hello, I have a question and I hope somebody can help. I'm trying to open an After Effects file of an animation I've made in 2023. When I open it, the loading bar gets stuck at 97% and also the program doesn't respond so I have to force quit it.I already tried to empty the cache, download an older version and open the file in it, restarted my macbook, but nothing seems to work.Is there anything else I can try? Hope there is a solution for it.
