THE ISSUE:For a while now I've been seaching for an easy way to add subtitles to my After Effects files. I know there are a few different ways to use free and/or paid extendscripts but the ones I've found all ended up with having hard-coded keyframes. When you've made some manual changes to your subs in AE and there were some last-minute changes to your subs you either had to manually do the corrections, or re-run the script with the new sub and re-do all you manual (formatting) changes.Wouldn't it be ideal if you could just import/link the SRT file into your library like you would with other kinds of footage?THE ANSWER:you can!Since the CC2018 version of AE you can import JSON files to create data driven animations. Well, isn't a JSON file basically just text? So this got me thinking; "what if I tried importing a SRT file instead of JSON?". Hello! I made a video in After Effects and have been trying to export it as a GIF in Media Encoder. The colors look good in After Effects, but as soon as it's rendered it loses a lot of vibrancy. I've played around with color profiles and different exporting settings, but nothing seems to work. I have also tried exporting as an mp4 and then converting to a GIF, but that removes the color again. How can I fix this? Is there an issue with my color settings? I've attached a picture of the before and after.

Hi, I am curious.  In my animation I have 40 plus different shapes which need to be animated using path property. All need to be looped also.  I wonder do I have to keep pasting 'loop path keyframe expression' to them all individually?? what if it was 100! Or there is any way I can use a slider where I can write the expression and link path property to that instead of copy pasting so many times!  am I imagining too much! is it far fetched? Thank you.  

I have my mask on but it wont show any shape paths for any object i put in after effects but if i reset the settings it will work, since im working on a current project i cant get the paths back onAs u can see the. mask is on but no matter what i do it wont show the path of any selected object

Hello People, I tracked this footage inside After effects by creating a 3D solid layer to work on it inside cinema 4D. The aim is to remove the name from the original footage and replace it inside cinema 4D. Everything worked but, it came with this low white saturated material around the 3D solid I tracked. can anybody help me out?

Hello,I'm reaching out because AE is continuously crashing, especially while using Trapcode Particular. I'm using the latest version of Trapcode (2024.2.0) and the latest version of AE (24.5).When I create a new project, this issue occurs again as soon as I start using Trapcode and making the particles complex. I have found that the plugin works better (and it seems that it doesn't crash) when "Rendering" is set to GPU (in the plugin options, not the AE project). However, my particles don't always look perfectly composed when the render is set like that.I'm already in conversation with Maxon to fix this, but I wanted to ask this community too, just in case you can help me as well. I've tried everything I found in these forums: updating GPU drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling AE and every plugin, continuously clearing the cache... But it crashes again and again, almost every time with the message shown in the attached screenshot. I can't work, and it's been frustrating.  Y

For the past year I've been having the same issue with After Effects & Media Encoder. Dynamic link server rarely connects, making Me redundant and having to export in Ae which takes 5x as long.  We've tried a variety of versions of the software and it's inconsistently working correctly. Probably exporting through Me less than 10% of the time.  The files have been dragged in from finder, Ae, and through the Ae - file - export channels and none make a difference. Mac & CC software all up to date. Currently on Sanoma 14.5 (23F79) and have tried all the suggested troubleshooting methods to no avial.  Is this being worked on to be solved, or will it always be an issue causing simple exports to take over 7 hours through Ae?! I can see it's been mentioned through these posts for years now.

I searched the web but did not finding the solution. I make a text box & want to dynamically hold texts within it. It uses a fixed font size of 50 but if there are more texts then font size will be reduced to fit all texts within the textbox. Any solution will be highly appreciated

HeyMaybe this issue is very simple but I made a scene in element 3D only and created a camera. everything is working perfekt but i would love to add more elements in my scene like fire or smake. becouse the scene isnt tracked with 3D tracker my elements just floating and when i try to creat a null same thing happend to the null object.  Thank you for any help you can offer.

hi, i run ae2024 on a windows 10, intel i5 256gb storage + 8gb ram laptop (lenovo L13 yoga gen 2, almost three years old), and usually it launches fine, but today it's launching with two control bars (see image attached) and whevever i click something it starts to not respond. i've tried launching in safe mode, i've launched with no other apps open (i usually keep discord open to talk to my friends), and it's just not responding. i have my media cache on a 2tb (D:) drive, set to 100gb, and my allocated ram is 6gb for ae and 1.5gb for other apps. does anybody have the slightest clue why it's not launching?

Hi everyone,I’ve been experiencing a frustrating issue with After Effects (version 24.6.1) on my Windows 10 PC,. The problem occurs when working with video files in a composition. The entire program becomes noticeably laggy and slow, especially when pausing, playing, or right-clicking on a video in the timeline. This lag also extends to the menus, such as Composition or Layer, where there’s a significant delay in response (sometimes even freezing for 1 minute). After spending hours trying to figure out what’s causing this, I discovered that the issue seems to be related to the video file itself. If I have a different media type selected, like images or another composition, the lag disappears. So, I concluded that having this particular video file selected triggers the performance issues. The problematic video was edited in After Effects and Premiere, then processed with Media Encoder. I just finished my project and 9 files are randomly missing. I replaced the files and it says "After efffects error: Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again." It also says that the file I replace the missing file with is damaged or unsupported and it can't be imported. Please help. 

I've started a new thread here for the issue in 2024 but if you look back this issue arose in 2020, 2021, 2022. It is probably the most catastrophic bug you can run into and I'm stunned that something this significant can still happen. After hours of work today I could not get my file to save no matter what I tried. I tried save, save as, save incremental. Nothing. I tried exporting to old formats, no good. I tried collecting files, nothing. I tried saving to different folders, tried saving to different names, saving to desktop, nothing. Tried checking auto-save -- nope, just the original file.  I tried exporting to XML, nothing.  I cleared cache, tried to trash preferences, still couldn't save.   I would have tried a workaround some folks suggested of sending the comp to media encoder and then finding the temp project in the media encoder folder, except I couldn't get anything to export to media encoder either. Hi,I am currently working on an After Effects project, which I was hired to do by a movie streaming website called https://letmewatchthiss.com/. During the editing process, I encountered a rather unusual problem that I haven't been able to solve.The issue arises when I try to use the motion tracking feature. After applying the tracking data to an object, it works for a few frames, but then suddenly the object either disappears or drifts away from the target area. I have tried precomposing the layers and adjusting the keyframes, but the problem persists.Has anyone else faced this issue or has an idea of what could be causing it? I'd appreciate any tips or solutions that could help me resolve this. I'm using After Effects 2024, fully updated on a Windows 11 system with sufficient GPU and RAM.Thanks in advance for your assistance!

So I tried to open cinema 4d from after effects but this problem occurred.how do I solve this?Is there anyone who can help me. I searched for a solution to this and couldn't find one.this happened after the after effect update 

Hey, I used the content aware fill tool to remove an object from my After Effects composition. I set a mask over the object and generated a fill layer. The object was covered pretty good, but I had some problems with video quality in the mask. As you can see in the screenshot, the mask's resolution is lower than the video's resolution and the mask is blurred. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Hello Folks!  I am running into some very frustrating color shifts in my exports from AFX- and have no idea what could be causing them. The imported image looks perfect in the AFX viewport but when it comes to exporting it the colors become way darker and way more contrasted in general.  The original image was exported as an 8 bit channel png. The buffer type is HDR (float 32-bit) and the color space is sRGB. There is an image below: When I bring the image into AFX it looks exactly as it should in the AFX viewport - see below:  however the problem comes in when I try to export the image from AFX. I get this completely different image which is way darker and more contrasted and looks nothing like my original. I have included images below of all my afx settings upon export- hopefully someone with more color space experience will spot something that I am missing. All and any help is greatly appreciated!!
