After Effects

Unsure if this is a bug, or intended behaviour, but when copying an essential property and pasting onto other layers that share the same essential property, that value doesn't get pasted. Similarly, when copying an expression only from an essential property, it's also not pasted when other layers that share that property are selected. The workaround for this is to select that property on each layer (rather than selecting the layer itself) before pasting. This is quite inconvenient, and doesn't follow the convention for other property types.

Why does the hand part open in a new composition after running the rubber hose script? The shoulder and wrist parts are shown in the composition I am working with, but the hand part is shown in a new composition.#rubber_hose

Estava renderizando um projeto feito no after effects no media encoder, e tive um problema grave. Após exportar, o arquivo final fica com 1kb de tamanho, e se apresenta como corrompido, impossibilitando obviamente sua reprodução. Sempre utilizei os dois aplicativos citados para fazer os materiais e nunca tive problemas, porém, há três dias o media encoder apresenta esse erro. Tenho demandas para entregar para os meus clientes e estou em desespero. Detalhe importante: comecei a ter problemas após a atualização dos programas para a versão 2023, não sei se essa atualização pode ter alguma relação. Desde já, agradeço.

Ohne Erfolg.Deshalb meine Frage an Euch, ob ihr mir helfen könnt?Ich habe ein After Effects Problem, bei einem einfachen Filmprojekt, bei dem ich mehrere Hundert Ebenen nutze, mit Speicherlastigem Bildmaterial. Ich nutze After Effects 2023 in der Version 23.6.0 (Build 62) auf einem M1 Mac Book Air von 2020 mit Apples Sonoma 14.0. Die Sache ist die, dass, nachdem ich mein Projekt gespeichert hatte und erneut öffne, der Fehler Überlauf Verhältnisnenner werden konvertiert. (17 § 19) erscheint. Wenn ich dann an meiner Unterkomposition "film" arbeiten möchte, werden mir die untersten Ebenen quasi "entfernt" bzw. "vorenthalten" oder "abgeschnitten" (Siehe Screenshot)Das seltsame dabei ist, dass ich den Inhalt davon im Vorschaufenster noch sehen kann, auch wenn ich den Film exportiere, sieht man alles, was ich in diesen unteren Ebenen angelegt hatte. Hi so I'm a beginner (low key) in video editing and I'm making a video in after effects. I've done stuff on AE and Premiere before and never had any issue rendering with media encoder. But for some reason the video I made won't render. I use h.264 and the settings of my composition but when i try to export it, I get a mp4 file of 0:00 seconds that is just the first frame of mu whole composition ? I literally tried everything I've found on the internet : purge, changed my settings, ect. i really can't find the source of my problems and it's starting to annoy me A LOT. So please can someone help me ? I'm putting screenshots of everything so that you can tell me if my beginner a$$ just made a very dumb mistake in my settings lol.Thank you to anyone who can help me with that. 

Hi there,I've bought a new Latop (Ryzen 5800H, onboard graphics, and Geforce GTX 1650) and tried running the Puget Benchmark Test with Adobe AE 18.2.1 (I read before, that the test doesn't work with 18.4 at all).Right at the beginning I get error messages, but the test succeeds ("Couldn't rename projekt").Mid test during the Cloud Lightning Project, I get this error message (picture), when I click ok, nothing happens, the test doesn't stop, nor does is cancel itself, or something like that.What could be the problem? p.s.: On my older (intel i7, GTX 1050ti) system, I had no such issue, except, that the Benchmark ran for hours (and not for the 15-30 min) and had to be stopped by me.  

Hi, I would like to setup a rendering server, ideally with several After-Effects versions in the same major. It is currently possible to install from Creative Cloud Desktop 1 version per major (I currently have 24.1, 23.6.2, 22.1.1, 18.4.1). In the major 23, there are the versions 23.0, 23.1, 23.2, 23.2.1, 23.3, 23.4, 23.5, 23.6 and 23.6.2 .From the Creative Cloud Desktop, I get a message than installing a second version of the 23 major will uninstall the previous installed version, so I can't have 23.0 and 23.6.2 installed at the same time. Is there a way to install several versions in the same major version ? I would like to install 23.0, 23.1, 23.2 and 23.6.2 for example on the same computer/server. Secondly, since we cannot download the previous versions of After-Effects (prior to the previous major), is it possible to download the current installers officially from adobe (for 23.0, 23.1, 23.2 etc..) so that we could still install them later if we store the

when trying to install a plugin for adobe after effects.. the files i install. like Deep glow or Twitch has just turned to crap and isn't the correct file type or what it opens with.. im genuinly confused and dont know what to do.. i had accidentaly pressed something i believe, other than that i dont know  they arent meant to be like that but this  that logo for the plugins are meant to show up or something. but it just isnt doing it. 

So I recently rebuilt my work computer ( I do video editing ) and I have not been able to get after effects to stop crashing a few minutes into each project. Also when it crashes its almost as if it clears the save from the "recent projects" home page that pops up.  System:CPU: I9-13900KGraphics Card: Asus Strix 1060 6GBRam: Corsair Vengence 64GBSamsung 1TB NVME as my main drive. Tried just about every setting in the multitude of troubleshooting guides. Nothing has worked, the only thing I can look for now is for someone to analyze the crash dmp file. Please if anyone else is having this issue and got it resolved let me know of a way I can try something new.  This could be a hardware problem but it doesnt point to that as my computer isn't crashing with any other application. And yes I have re-installed multiple times and that did not work either. 

Hello, I am trying to use the option of "contextual alternates" in AE.I have the option here for Photoshop But can't find a similar button to this in AE, tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it's not natively in AE, but maybe there are plugins or some trick to get that option working? Atm, my only solution is to create the text in Photoshop and copy-paste it into AE, but that is deff not an optimal solution long term. Any suggestions?

I've just swithced to a M3 iMac and am getting the "low memory" issue for my preview renders.  It is happening on comps that are not demanding at all. Maybe a layer of video with one or two animated text layers.  Nothing special and something my previous iMac had no problem with.  Purging memory and cache will fix it temporarily but only enough to preview the current timeline. Then if you make changes or swicth to a new comp the propblem reoccurs.  Eventually it just devolves to only previewing 6-8 frames. Oddly enough you can hand scrub through the timeline and fill it in all green but when you hit play it erases those frames and only  renders a few seconds. I have tried restarting both AE 24.2.1 and my computer. I have a 6-layer PSD that I imported into AE. Though it comes to my seq. as a composition, I precomposed it for the shatter 3d effect. I did my tweaks and it behaved as expected. Then I got the notion to make a part of the logo move from off-screen to on-screen inside the comp using the shatter effect. I can NOT see the movement in the full comp. I can see the move in the PSD comp, where I have the 2 keyframes. Is it that you can not mover elements inside of the comp if the shatter has been applied?

I'm making a short film for a friend of mine, and I want to record a clip (on a tripod) which I later want to insert in a another clip (camera hand held), inside a phone which a person is holding. Does this make sense?  I know I have had this problem a few years ago, and luckily the clips was done hand held, so it was rather easy. I'm trying to find this post without luck, and I can't find any tutorials on Youtube. I guess there is, but I can't seem to find any.  I need to watch tutorials to see if I can pull it off, if not I have to film something else. Can anyone help me find a tutorial?

I'm new to the whole After Effects community and I am currently using it for a project.I followed a tutorial by Mt. Mograph on youtube and I downloaded the script "Ease and Wizz".I have it as a panel and all, but every time I attempt to apply my desired expression, a popup box says that there is a script alert and it can't find the file for the expression.Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I have tried to remove the script and download it again, but nothing has worked for me.

Hi, When After-Effects (2023, 2024, and at least since 2020) is running, using the command line with "AfterFx.com -r scriptPath" will directly return in the command line (not desired behaviour) and I would like to know if it is possible to make it blocking.If I use -m to create a new instance, the command is waiting until the end of the script (desired behaviour). To test that behaviour, I use the following script:```$.writeln("starting script");$.sleep(10 * 1000);$.writeln("end of script");``` I had a previous post here Best regards

Hi! I'm creating a project and faced a problem I don't know how to solve or whether it's possible to solve at all.Let it say for simplicity I have a rectangle scaling up in the beginning and down in the end of the comp and Fractal Noise on background with animated evolution through the whole comp length. So I have both In-Out and continuous types of animation together.I want to be able to change comp duration by creating protected regions - intro and outro, where my scale keyframes of rectangle are. The problem is when I change Comp duration with Intro and Outro markers it works fine for rectangle but it changes fractal noise in time making it faster or slower.  Is there any way to lock continuous animation from time remap making it just to trim according to Intro and Outro markers while still having ability to change the whole comp duration with markers? Or maybe there is some other option to be able to control comp duration with both In-Out an continuous

Motion Paths won't display. I'm using the latest updates for AE CS5 and nVidia. Motion Paths have never been visible in AE CS5 all the way back to nVidia driver version 178.x, in fact. What to do?

After Effects 24.2.1 não responde no windows 10, já fiz o downgrade para outras versões, mas continua não respondendo. após essa atualização, as versões anteriores não respondem também, sempre abre a tela de "Start in Safe Mode, Reset Preferences, Manage Plungins, Continue", mas mesmo clicando em todas as opções, o mesmo continua não respondendo.

When I press the format options button to change my rendering settings, the settings window that appears is unnecessarily large. It is five times the size of the Output module window and half of it extends to the left of the screen. Every time I close After Effects and reopen it, I have to reduce the size of this window again.Does anyone know how to permanently fix the size of the Format options window to a smaller size? Thanks. 

Hello,Not sure if this is just me or what, but I find this tool very obstinate. Once it thinks it has found the masking edges, it is very hard to adjust using brush strokes. I am finding that I am spending about 5 minutes a frame trying to clean up the mask because instead of it looking at where I put the stroke, it will make great changes or no changes at all. Often I find that by drawing a closed shape it will somrtimes catch on. Unless all you need it for it face detection, which is what all the videos seems to be about, it is not much better than masking mnaually frame by frame. I really think there should be a way to manually adjust the mask like a regular mask can be. This brushing method feels like a constant battle with the software to get what you want. it's fine to get the initial mask shape, but fine detailing it is not working with this brush method. There can be obvious contrasting edges and it will not figure it out. Anyone else get better results?

I guess this is really it then? Creative Cloud app only shows 24 and 23 apps for download, no 2022 listed anywhere. When I click on link provided under those versions, I just get some blog post from Adobe about registering a serial number for ancient Adobe products which isn't what 2022 is. Currently we're not even using 24 since it's such a low quality buggy mess, so really 2023 and 2022 and well within the realm of products customers need, yet I can't seem to find an install for 2022. This is why I unironically never uninstall any apps if I can't help it on my machine, I know Adobe devs and execs live in their own fantasy world separate of working professionals most of the time but I can't emphasize how many times AE 2019 for example has saved my as-s on projects that bugged out in even 2022, 2023, etc. It's is highly irresponsible of Adobe just nix access to these legacy apps like it's no big deal. Is it Adobe creative directors being scared of app clutter or som
