 I cann ot figure out what the problem is, I uninstall and reinstall after effects and adobe media encoder and its still giving this error

Hi everyone. Can someone help me? Beginner here. I'm having trouble adding equal space on my dots rotating in circle path. I have a total of 16 dotsI have a code each dots "thisComp.layer("Dot1").transform.position.valueAtTime(time-((index-3)/5));" Dot1 is the leader that has the positions and the other dots follow along with itThank you in advance!

Hi there, I'm writing an expression that connects an objects scale to it's Trace Path progress value, so that as the object travels down a path, it scales up. But I don't want the scale to be linear, I want it to ease up in value as it completes the path. I wrote this expression for the scale property of the travelling object:a = effect("Trace Path")("Progress"); x = easeOut(a, 0, 100, 0.3, 100); [x[0],x[0]] But I keep getting the error: "Undefined value used in expression (could be an out of range array subscript?)" The error confuses me as I thought I had defined all variables needed for the expression. Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

Hi all,i have to modify a setup, which allows the user to highlight one or multiple words by adding “**” before and after. The original setup works by adding “=” ( For example: This is a =Highlight=). On a separate Text Layer, everything outside those two “=” characters is then faded out by an expression selector and a specific font is chosen to generate a colored box behind the marked text (in this example only behing the word “Highlight”). This setup works pretty good so far, but i can not find a way to mark the words to be highlighted with "**" (two characters) instead of one ("="). Anyone any idea how to modify the following code to make this work? I have already tried to add && txt[i+1] == "*" to the if-statement, but that doesn`t seem to work as expected. It kind worked / find`s the right In-Point / Start of the highlighted word, but messes up the letters / doesn`t find the correct Out-Point of the marked word.Many thanks in advance! const txt = thisComp.layer(“Maste

Hi, I'm working in AE 24.5.0 Build 52 on a macbook pro 2019 (latest software updates).  I have some markers popping up on the map when I've zoomed in on Florida and I parented them to the map there. However, when the map zooms out, the markers seem to stay the same size and position and don't adjust at all. Am I doing something wrong? I tried changing things so they were parented to a null layer but it didn't seem to work any better. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, Layers with 3D effects, whether it be built-in or third-party effects, stop reacting to any changes to camera movement I apply after adding the 3D effect.I'm having this issue with both the built-in CC Environment effect as well as the entire Trapcode Suite, Element 3D and FreeForm Pro. Freshly adding any of these effects to a layer makes it react & transform accordingly, but any camera values changed retrospectively just won't apply. I have tried purging the Media & Disk Cache & turning on/off GPU acceleration, all to no avail. I'm quite frustrated with this. Appreciate any help!

Hi, does anyone knows how to fix this problem it's not letting me to do my projects properly and it's so annoying and I can't even save file I had to force stop it from task manager to even close my AE program.

Hi there everyone .. Does someone know how  can if fix this issue it that the 3d models i created  in blender and then save it as .glb file ,and importing it to aftereffects  only shows controlsand  not the object.Ihave  tried ver 24.1  and  now 24.5 the same  problem  presists .The  advanced 3d renderer is not working for  me .here  is  the screenshot attached. 

dynamic links to premier pro work but after effects keeps shutting down gives these following errors , mind u ive uninstalled every program tried to disable rotobrush even turned off my plugins nothing seems to get this on track and running smoothly , it startd doing this after i was working on a rotobrushclip and applied an echo  soon after that i started to get the error im in the middle of a commission i really need help /my compter is a alienware 34 gb windows 11 i7  

I'm new to the design world, and I recently saw a video made with After Effects where a wall and ground seamlessly joined together with a pattern of green lines, which appeared to be in PNG format. It looked like the wall and ground had the exact same pattern. I'm interested in finding and purchasing similar patterns that can be used for both walls and grounds, as shown in the attached image.Does this type of pattern have a specific name? I know there are seamless patterns, but do they have the same name when it comes to 3D designs? My questions are:What do we call such patterns?Where can I purchase them? Thank you in advance! 

Hi Is it possible to 3D extrude a video using a depthmap using the new inbuilt 3D engine, or any of the alternatives?  I’m trying to emulate what Davinici Resolve does natively with kind of 3D displacement extrusion as can be (sort of) seen in pic above. This is generated with a 2D video image and a greyscale depthmap. I know you can achieve similar with displacement maps but it's not quite the same. Thanks. Andrew 

I can't for the life of me figure out how to create this path that objects will be traveling along. It's a complete walk in the park in Illustrator, but a nightmare in Aftereffects.I created a cirlce on a shape layer. The shape is Bezier Path. I cannot de-select 'closed' so that I can delete a vertex and draw my line connected to another. Why.

I'm having the hardest time finding anything about angle measurement callouts.  I would like to use something that can automate the numerical angle mesaurement to precisely measure the angle between two points. If you know an exsting template or know how to make one please let me know! I'm trying to add callouts to a video in a MOGRT for premiere pro.

For a whole year now I've been complaining to Adobe about a problem, that there is slowness in render mode when I'm editing a video or just for example trying to roto a car I'm editing, I duplicated the layer and it started to freeze when I play the video, it's impossible to edit like that.. Does anyone have the same problem and managed to solve it on macbook m1 64ram 2021 with 1T space?

Yes, I am a rookie at this program. But I have managed to make some good videos in the past with no issue before whatsoever. I know other people have had this problem too, because I've looked through the forums, even recent ones, but there's has not been an answer yet. So, why am I not hearing any audio at all when I preview the video. I've let it load enough, all my setting are good for the audio, tried pressing (.) on the keyboard, and I have never made any major changes to my settings. Is this because of the new update? Last time I worked with AE was months ago, and it was perfectly fine.I've seen some forums talk about RAM preview, but apparently that's not a thing any more. Is it? I sure don't have the RAM preview button. Any suggestion would be helpful, thanks!

It is a long known problem, but not solved yet.Often the preview is not working, until i change the Audio-Hardware to another device.Then the preview behaves as expected. After some time this happens again and i have to change the audi-hardware device again to another one than already selected.

In this tutorial, I show how to build a reusable phaser effect, based on those in Star Trek: The Next Generation. I've been rewatching TNG recently and it reminded me of the excellent behind-the-scenes video from FXGuide  where they looked in the remastering process for the series. At one point, they discuss how they used Flame to reproduce the look of the phasers. These effects were originally achieved in 1987 using Quantel Paintbox and so now, I thought it's past time to demonstrate how you can use After Effects to get the same look.   The challenge with After Effects in making a multi-layered effect is how to make it reusable, but thanks Essential Graphics, this problem disappears. So in this video, I start with creating a null packed with all the options by using Expression Controls (found in the Effects menu). Then I apply the Beam effect to create the beam, but I add Turbulent Noise to create a sense of plasma. Next I use some expressions to create some 3D controls bef

Hey all,So I'm essentially a complete beginner with AE. I downloaded a pre-constructed project from a site, in order to have an intro bumper for a client of mine. Whenever I try to render it, it fails at 1:10, and gives me the error "Adobe After Affects Error 17 ::45 Unable to Invert Matrix". I don't know what's happening, or if I am doing anything wrong. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.I downloaded this with the expectation that the file would render with my text/graphics without any further effort, and am completely lost about how to fix it. Most of my searches return links from 6+ years ago.Thanks in advance.

I can't see any video devices in my preferences, (I'm trying to create a VR headset viewport) Hardware: What I've done so far:Reinstalled After EffectsInstalled Latest Nvidea Cuda SoftwareInstalled Cinema 4D (just incase) I've searched everywhere online, I have seen other people with the same issue, but not yet any solutions.  Any help would be so appreciated. No idea what to do  

I've been trying to fix this problem for a while now and I've looked all over the internet and to try and fix it. I still haven't found anything. I will break it down now and give specifics. I have some rgx. files and MBLooks. files that I am trying to import to my project. I'm aware that when having any version 14 and up they use rgx. files and when you apply MBLooks. files they convert to rgx. naturally. When you import your own preset it goes into the natural file location and usually you will see it at the bottom left of the looks page when applying a custom preset. None of my custom presets show up at the bottom so I am unable to apply them to my project. This would me just easier if these were ffx. files that way I can just use them as user presets. I don't seen a way to convert rgx. to ffx. files. I went from version 13, to 14, to 16 and I had the same problem for all of them.
