When users change the value of a slider parameter declared by a plugin with thePF_ParamFlag_SUPERVISE flag, AE fails to notify the plugin via PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM. Steps to reproduce:- Take an existing plug-in based on the AE SDK, and make one of its slider parameters observable by setting its PF_ParamFlag_SUPERVISE flag.- Set a breakpoint / print something to the console / beep when handling the PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM command.- Apply the plugin inside any recent version of AE.- Change the slider’s value and notice that PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM is never invoked. Expected:Plug-ins should receive a PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM command whenever the value assigned to a slider parameter is changed. Notes:Sliders can trigger a large number of changes very quickly, and it would be perfectly fine if AE were to coalesce multiple changes into one. BUT it is vital that AE issue at least one PF_Cmd_USER_CHANGED_PARAM command, when the user is done

Hi All, This is the first time for me with After Effects I was wondering on how to do holographic effects step by step from an image. I have seen quite a number of YouTube videos for the same and some of them are not clear. Is there a clear set of instructions that I can follow ? Or do I need to learn the whole After Effects course before I do this ?

Hi, I get this message everytime I try to open After Effects:“Adobe After Effects 2025” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.The newest version. Tried everthyng, unstall it and re download it I get this message. Anybody know the fix for this?

I'm posting this as a bug, but please change it to a Discussion if this is intended behaviour.   I've noticed that when animating the opacity of a layer, the apparent level of opacity is rendered differently against an actual background colour compared to against a transparent background with the comp's BG set to that same colour.   I'm not sure that's explained clearly, but I think the attached video demonstrates this better.   I could imagine that there are proper technical reasons for this difference, but without this knowledge, it feels unexpected that these render differently.

I'm trying to use aerender.exe and am having major issues with my GPU - it seems the latest version of AE (25.5) ignores the GPU settings in the project file.  (BTW thanks for letting us select something that has no effect, Adobe...) The upshot is that my renders crash because the GPU gets immediately overloaded when I have a few threads rendering.  Historically, I've had to disable GPU rendering for this reason.  It seems that is no longer an option because, as far as I can tell, the setting is ignored. But, supposedly, there is a way out: GPUsniffer.exe.  It seems AE runs this on startup and if it doesn't find the app then it disables GPU rendering, so you just rename GPUsniffer.exe to something else and that does the trick.  I confirmed this works in the main AE app - rename the exe and AE disables GPU rendering.  Hooray.  (Hey Adobe - how about you just make the setting actually have an effect?) However... it seems this does not app

I'm trying to get multiple aerender.exe instances working like it did a few versions ago when you could disable GPU rendering.  The problem seems to be that now I can't disable GPU rendering and each instance is using a ton of GPU memory, so I can only run a couple threads at a time, maybe three if I'm lucky.  I used to regularly run ~10 with no issues back when I could disable GPU rendering. So... since I can't disable GPU rendering, is there any way to limit GPU RAM usage so I can again run a bunch of threads?

Hi Gang, First time posting, and have very amateur-level skills, so hoping it's not an obvious one! I've been using the Advanced Lightning effect and getting some great results but have stumped myself on how to get it to follow a path.  For example, I want the lightning to run along some wires, and the only thing I can imagine is creating a mask above and below the wires, and editing the alpha obstacle so it squeezes through the crevice. It feels like I must be missing a much easier solution, and would love to know if anyone had a better idea! Cheers,Brad

I applied a Lumetri color effect to a clip in my comp and it caused the image to stretch (as if I had distorted the horizontal size of the image). I toggled the effect on and off and the stretching disappears when toggled off. I removed the effect and reapplied, nothing. Restarted After Effects, nothing. Tried another clip from the shoot, no problems. I've had this, and other small bugs, appear randomly when using the Lumetri Color effect. Is there something that I'm missing or is this a known bug with After Effects CC 2017?

I've reviewed numerous solutions and none of them work. I need to execute a script in After Effects by launching through python.  I've found the generic solution:"C:/Program Files/Adobe.../AfterFx.exe" -r "Path/to/my/script/myScript.js";If I paste this into the windows command prompt, the first part opens/runs afterfx just fine, but it doesn't run the script.  If I run the script from within AFX (File:Scripts:Run Script File) it executes correctly. Every variation I've found of this generic solution doesn't work either.Ultimately I need to run this from python:this_aep = 'X:/path/targetAfterfxFile.aep'os.system(this_aep )cmd = '"C:/Program Files/Adobe.../AfterFx.exe" -r "Path/to/my/script/myScript.js";'os.system(cmd)Please help.  I'm not a java person or a windows programmer. How can i get AFX to run the damn script automatically?  It needs to run on a loaded aep file, so running it on startup won't work and I don't want to to run every time AFX opens.

Hi there, I'm trying to do something kind of complex, and I'm hoping to find a way to do this natively in AfterEffects, or maybe to get some sort of plugin if that's available. The basic idea is that I animated a book with bendy pages.  I'm using the Cinema 4D renderer (it seems that my current computer can't use Advanced 3D, either because of system requirements or just because I haven't updated AE quite new enough yet). I achieved the page bending by just having a simple curved path, and then I extruded it.  After making the page, I made a text layer with a mask that matched the path of the page, and then (with some doing) got the text to lay down across the page using Per-Character 3D and some relatively simple expressions.  From what I've seen online, all of this seems to be pretty run-of-the-mill. But what I'd REALLY like would be to make it so that these pages could have images on them—for me to be able to create a vector graphic in Illustr

When user selecting 3D object and pressing F button, 3d view centering to selected object. But this feature work only when you're using tools for camera movement (Orbit, Pan, Dolly).Since 2026 its possible to use Alt+Mouse to move camera view, even when using  any other tools like Selection tool, Pan, Rotation, Text etc. But in this case F-cenetring doesn't work.

After Effects has been giving me the "Please connect to the internet as soon as possible so the license can be activated (101)" error. I’m currently getting it only with After Effects and I’ve followed all the steps outlined by Adobe to fix license server issues. I've checked other Adobe apps I've been using frequently lately which are Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and InDesignat the moment and all work fine. I’ve logged out of and back into the Creative Suite app as well as logged off and back on adobe.com. Nothing seems to make this go away and I’m concerned that in 3 days I won’t have access to After Effects until the issue is resolved.

Hi,I am trying to implement a sort of "loupe" tool as part of an AE plugin. It's actually a tool that helps position a 2d point/pin in the comp. So far, when I move a 2d point i am able to draw the portion of the comp around that point in the ECW (via an ARB param). The only issue, I must release the mouse button to see an update of my ARB viewr in the ECW. Is there a way to continuously update the ECW drawing (or at least that ARB param) while draging a 2d point ? thx.

Hey everyone, I really need help with this issue. I made a character in Illustrator 2025 (pure vector paths using Pen and Brush tools). I saved it as PDF-compatible AI file and imported it into After Effects 2023 as "Composition – Retain Layer Sizes". I’ve turned ON the ☀️ (Continuously Rasterize) switch, set Resolution to Full, and even tried converting to Shape Layer — but it still pixelates when I zoom or scale. I’ve also tried:- Saving AI as 2020 legacy version- Using Mercury Software Only renderer- Disabling Intel GPU (using AMD Radeon R5 340 only)- Renderer settings, project color, etc. Even a simple circle test from AI pixelates inside AE.  My specs:- AE 2023- AI 2025- GPU: AMD Radeon R5 340 + Intel HD 530- Windows 10 Does anyone know how to fix this vector pixelation problem? Is  it a known bug with AE 2023 and AI 2025? (Attaching screenshots below)

Hi all 🙂   I have a .fla file I want to import into my project in After Effects. Thing is, and old version of that .fla file was succesfully imported in an older version of AE. I had to change the Animate file, and when I try to import this new file, a message error says "adobe animate is required to import a .fla file" which makes no sense at all since of course Animate is part of CC Desktop... I'm suspicious it has to do with the last AE update, but I reckon I might be doing something wrong. Any idea why this could be happening?   Thanks!   ps. I tried to replace / reload footage with no success, export the animate file as a video, etc. Not proper solution, I'd need the fla file in the ae in order to make everything work properly   [NOTE: The title of this post has been edited by a moderator]

Help! About 3 weeks ago, this problem has cropped up and rendered AE unuseable to me on my laptop: When I open a project (or start a new one), everything works fine for a few minutes until suddenly the composion panel just freezes.  After Effects continues to run, I can even close the panel and reopen it and it reopens in its frozen state. Hi all, I recorded a video from my screen using "in game overlay" from Geforce Experience. The video is fine, it's the way I want, the sound is good too. I need to work on this video on AE but when I import the video, it just doesn't have sound! I checked everything, preview is with sound on, everything has sound on there but I can't hear a thing. It even shows the waveforms on thumbnail when you select the file on project tab. Yet the waveform doesn't exist owhen you add to the composition.
