After Effects

Hi there,  I imported an OBJ file into Ae Beta, and I don't see an option for it to cast shadows. Does anyone know how to enable this? I'm using a spot light. Thanks,Matt

it's really strange actually, like i have absolutely no idea how to fix this and it seems like nobody else has had this problem. I airdropped a video from my phone to my laptop (Macbook Pro - Yes I have enough RAM its definitely not the problem here) as i have done for the past few years, when i imported it into the timeline, the video was normal yet the audio was slow. My audio hardware is accurate. My entire cache has been cleaned. Even when i tested with older videos with audios already previously saved on my laptop they were completely fine as well along with mp3 files. Its not playback, its not cache, its not RAM i have NO idea what it is. Help would be very appreciated!! 

Please ignore the slider control on the left-hand side.But um as you can see, I've tried to track three independent shots with the 3D Camera Tracker effect, yet the tracking points are always at the same place holding still. And the effect always shows that the analysis was finished instead of failed. The 3D Camera Tracker is on its default value, and the videos are just mp4 footage. I tried to precomp them before using the 3D Camera Tracker effect yet its still not working. Anyone knows how to solve it?Or there is an alternative way to do it? BIG BIG THANKS!    

When I use the pen tool to create a stroke, every time I click it creates a new empty shape layer, instead of a stroke and a path. It works in other comps within the same project, and even worked in the exact same comp minutes before but then started doing this. Have I disabled something? I've checked all settings and they seem fine. I've cleared cache, re-started AE, rebooted my machine. I have a feeling it's a setting and I'm being an idiot. Can I convert a Mask path into a shape path in AECS4? I am running into a problem with resizing my layers - I am animating a signature, and part of it was done as a shape, part of it as a mask that 'reveals' a signature (someone else created the original) when I try to enlarge the whole thing, only the shape portion enlarges without artifacting (vector) the mask portion gets blocky and ugly if enlarged.

Every time I start up the new version of After Effects, I get a pop-up that I have to click away before the program finishes loading. Not only is this a useless bother, but it's also a snarky remark. Adobe, we love you, but please don't put useless obstacles in our way, especially annoying ones.

As of yesterday, I suddenly cannot render from After Effects, or send to AME from the render queue. AE allows me to send things to the render queue, but once there, the "Render" and "Queue in AME" buttons are greyed out. Strange because I can do File>Export>Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue, and it sends it fine. I tried resetting the AE preferences, and verified this is not a project specific problem. Any ideas? Using AE 24.0.3 (Build 2)Mac OS Ventura 13.6.1

Hey guys, I've been trying to remove this black/blue background from a project with no success. There is no sepparate folder for "BG" in  the project pannel. How can I get through this? 

Im looking for a way to collapse all 40 something layers Ive got open with a quick and simple keyboard shortcut and I can't find it anywhere. Ive googled and searched this forum without any success, all the shortcuts are outdated for the new AE versions

I used shatter effect on the text, and the test disappeared, although I chose Rendered view. When I create new clean composition, and use the shatter effect on a text layer, text is visible. Whan can be wrong? In this composition there aro no layers that may cover the view of the text layer, I checked.

Is there a way to expand my borders after precomposing?

HiI'm trying to animate a ball that rolls between many different scenes through different routes - climbing a mountain, then rolling down and jumping at the end, bouncing on objects, etc.. This video has a few scenes with such a ball, for example.Also attaching part of the storyboard: What would be the best way to do it realisticly?Using Newton's plugin isn't going to work here due to the length of these scenes and the fact the ball should move from scene to scene, and if there is some way to do it with Newton - I don't how to achieve such a behaviour there. Thank you!

I'm trying to make an animatic template and I would like the text that is in the dropdown menu to be placed over the text that is on the screen. Additionally, I would like that if I change the text in the dropdown menu that the text on the screen is updated. Hi, I'm opening a very intense .fla project (large complex drawings and animation, but no fx) in after effects (this triggers After Effects to export every layer of the original .fla as a .swf - into a specified folder and import these into 1 composition).I've done this for years with simpler projects and it always works fine.However, with my current project whenever I import a .fla into after effects - it opens as a composition, I see all my layers - but random frames across the timeline on random layers are missing, just blank gaps where there should be drawings, but only on some layers. For example the background will remain but the main character will flicker in and out of existence.When I export the .fla file as a single flat SWF it is fine, but obviously I cant edit the individual layers like this.Has anyone experienced this?The only solution I can think of is to export every broken layer as a PNG sequence, which isn't idealSpecs: MBP sonoma, Animate 24.0.0 , After Effects 24.1.0

Hi there! I am getting the message After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {no current context} The error arises after I attempt to render my piece. It renders with all sorts of glitches, and when done rendering, those glitches become present in the project. The glitches affect different effects from various companies: uni.gradient, and element 3d most prominently, plus causing layers to disappear when i change their hierarchy, just very glitchy overall. When I import my problem file into a clean file, the problems go away. That is until I attempt to render again, then the render has those bugs, and the project has those bugs as well. I tried reinstalling Element 3d, but it didn't help. Again, the problems don't crop up until I run a render. (I tried rendering to Prores 422 Lite and Frames). I am now getting this error message on another project with similar effects, though I don't see the visual glitches, just the error message. I'm running

When  we submit it as an ai file after editing it as an after-effect template, can we know if I use the template? I also wonder if we can know all the editing records after saving.

Hi everybody,  I have this expression for a source text layer, but the result didn't appear as the font style that I had set for it. The result is showing [object Object] instead. Hi all,  Wondering if there's a way to delay footage in the Media Replacement comp when creating Morgts?  Currenlty I have a intro slide which has the videos name and date, then as that pushes right, the content (normally a testimonial) slides in from the left and the person starts talking etc.  What i'm struggling with is that when using the temp footage feature I can swap the content for different speakers etc but as i don't want the Mogrt to be +5mins long to contain the full interview, I have to manually go into the temp footage comp when in Premiere to adjust the content so it sync's with the main content as that starts at 4secs.In the image: 1. is the intro slide  2. is the temp footage(1/2 is the mogrt) 3. is where i would have the longer  / main footage and the rest of the video content would go and 2 need to be sync'd to 3 as it comes in Thanks    

I am very new in After Effects. I am using After Effects 2020. In Adobe Illustrator we can align objects very nicely; we can distribute them in whatever manner we want.So In my current Project, I had to draw several shapes under one shape layer (they are under contents). So I need to align them horizontally, and then want to align it (together, maybe after making them a group) centrally with another shape. But when I check the Align property, it only has ‘Composition’ as option. Nothing else!How can I do it like I do in illustrator? Is there any way?Thank you.

Hi,I'm not sure if this is something that you just can't do in AE or I am missing it.In illustrator if you want to align an object to another one, you select them both and click again on the object you want to align the other one to.In AE, I can't seem to do this. If you click selection in the align panel and click centre align for example it finds a point midway between the two. Is there a way to align one layer to the centre of another layer exactly (using the align panel rather than rulers etc.)?It seems such an obvious thing to need to do I assume I am missing something.ThanksFrank

I didnt find out how to do it in after effectI know that if you click CTRL on the layer in photoshop you get a Selection of the object and after that you click on theObject that you want to center and then click align in the align panelBut in after effect i dont know how to do itCan you Help me? 

Why, oh why, is there not a way to easily Align to Key Object in After Effects like there is in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign? Or am I missing something? I know of workarounds, but why isn't it as simple as it is in other Adobe apps?

Is there a way to make dashes stick to corners in After Effects like in Illustrator?^ Like this?
