Hello friends! How to make an object glow like this in after effects?

So, I left my laptop for a while to write down in my notebook. When I see my after effect project again, the composition preview suddenly changed. There is this annoying white box, which turns out to be my background. It looks like all my layers turn into black and white. I'm a beginner in after effects and I might have accidentally click something and I don't know what to do. By the way, all my unedited composition turns like this.

Hi!I have this "issue" since some time and I don't know if it's my mistake or a software thing. I made a quick video to demonstrate you, that I can not select individual mask points, to move them around. It's not always like that, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I already googled almost everything and tried so many shortcuts. Can anybody help me out here?Video of the issue:

Im creating a slideshow in which the images fold out using a combination of masks. (Shown Below)I have managed to create the effect with no problem however i am struggling to create the rounded corner effect. Is there any way i can do this with the mask? Thanks!

I've got a rather large project, literally thousands of layers and multiple projects that have been imported into one large single master project.Within that project I have an instance of trapcode's particular and star glow somewhere that I am no longer using and would like to locate and remove completely from the project. Is there a way to locate via a search option the effect or plugin I am looking for so I can locate the layer within the comp and turn it off? I don't think there is a way natively in AE ? I have heard of scripts or plugins that can do this. thank you

Hi, I'm trying face replacement. I have the problem of the anchor point and the position of the face in the video and the face in the image. When I replace the face pins everything gets twisted, a disaster. Where am I wrong? Thank you

Hi,  I followed the tutorial from ECAbrams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG7m3j1X9hQ&t=207sIn which the size of a rectangle refers to the size of a textbox.  This is the expression I got from the video: L=thisComp.layer("subtitle") X = L.sourceRectAtTime().width; Y = L.sourceRectAtTime().height; P=thisComp.layer("controller").effect("padding")("Slider"); [X,Y]+[P+40,P]I want to use the expression so I don't always need to resize the rectangle behind the text. My plan is that I only need to keyframe the source text.  My problem is that the source text changes on the new keyframe correctly but the rectangle already changes to the new size of the textbox after 40% of the time passed after the keyframe before. So it's not synchronous and I have no clue why.  The only fix I randomly discovered is to put the textbox and the text layer in a subcomp. But this makes no sense in my opinion and I would like to have those 2

When working with ARRI ALEXA MINI ProRes4444XQ footagelumetrics glitching, jumping on individual frames up and down. Very slightly, on all colors.Rendering ProRes4444XQ. On each render in different places glitch. Some glitch remaining in the same places. 1. M1 Max export resulting lots of glitches2. Intel based mac less glitches3. On the same render setting form M1 max and Intel mac different color results.4. On After Effects version 23.x.x Perfect renders without any glitches or errors. This problem was always with the new updates of After effects. Now it's taking too long.Impossible to work. Always need to to make final renders on older version. Problem on this machines:After Effects version 24.3.0 macOS 14.4.1macbook Pro M1 maxand also:After Effects version 24.0.1macOS 14.0Intel macPro 2019  

Hi, I'm following this tutorial by ECAbrams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG7m3j1X9hQ&t=207s. I think I'm doing everything the same but I get this error in the screenshot. I wanna make a rectangle which refers to the size of the textbox.  I didn't finish writing the expression because the error is in the first line.

This is a tutorial I'm following for making music visualizer.  There is a moment I must edit a script but don't know how to find this on my side.Thanks if someone can tell me. 

Hello,I have a rectangle. And I have animated the "Size" property under "Rectangle Path 1", very basic. You can see it in the pictures. I also have enabled motion blur which works all fine but just as long as the layer is a 2D layer. As soon as I click the 3D icon on the layer the motion blur is gone. I do nothing except changing the layer from 2D to 3D.  I tested the same with the "Scale" property under "Transform". There I get the motion blur both with the layer being 2D as well as 3D.    But because I want to add rounded corners to the rectangle I have to animate it with the "Size" property to not distort the round corners.How to solve this? Edit: I want to make the animated 3D shape layer an adjustment layer in the end. That means I can't use CC Force Motion Blur because that would affect not the shape layer but everything beneath it.  AE version: 24.2.1OS: Windows 11

Despite trying with ChatGPT's assistance, I couldn't get the correct answer, so I'm posting my question here.I have two text layers named "Ch_Name" and "C&C" in After Effects.The text layer "C&C" is positioned next to the text in the "Ch_Name" layer.I want the position of the "C&C" text layer to automatically adjust and maintain the same spacing relative to the "Ch_Name" text layer when the content of "Ch_Name" text layer changes in length.Could you please advise how to write an expression to achieve this?

Warp Stabilizer often stops/freezes part way through its opening analysis phase. Deleting and reapplying WS doesn't help. Quitting and restarting AE will usually fix it. This on an M2, 96GB ram, Sonoma 14.0

Having a hell of a time today. Trying to open AE files from 2021 in AE 2023, and I get all kinds of corruption errors first off. Then if I merely try to save, as soon as I hit the up or left arrow in order to edit the file name, the entire Save As dialog just disappears. It's maddening. What is wrong with AE 2023? This is the first time I've used it and I'm NOT impressed. Can anyone tell me how I can simply open a 3 yr old file? It's not that long ago...!

(86::1)Attempted solutions:1. When opening Adobe After Effects 2023, and trying to import the .mov file, it displays an error (86::1)2. I also tried changing the extension to .avi and importing and it displays the error (86::1)3. Another alternative was to copy the C4DImporter.aex plugin from Cinema 4D R20 to after plugins (\Adobe After Effects 2023\Support Files\Plug-ins), but it didn't work.I can't import .mov files

As above, I'm working on:Sonoma Version 14.3.1 3,2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon WRadeon Pro Vega 56 8 GB32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 I tried adding normal text in Beta version and it works perfectly fine - the regular AE though - as soon as I add text, it's a 30s time to wait for the cursor to move. Any tips?

So it took me a bit to figure out, but after creating a comp at 60fps and working in it all day, keyframing, animating and the norm, I noticed my renders were playing back faster than what I was seeing in my previews. I double checked my comp settings, rendered out of AE instead of ME, triple checked my renders settings, tried playing back in a different player than Quicktime. I even brought my render in to my original comp and overlayed it with a mask to make sure playback was normal, surprised it was. I watched my preview renders again and again, and yes they had the green render bar. I started watching the playhead and realized it seemed to be playing in real time, but the time code disply was 2x slower than real time. So I went in to my Preview panel and low and behold, it was set to 30FPS. Making all sense why my timeline seemed slower than my render. I never changed my preview settings, ever!! Hello everyone,since today I've been having an issue where the text cursor jumps back to the beginning of the text after every letter I type. So, when I type continuously, it writes from right to left. What could be the problem here? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects. Thanks for the help.

Hello, I downloaded some Prism Lens Effects Templates to play around with.My main goal is to get a Prism Effects without the source image still visible in the center. I only want the reflections, blurry, dreamy parts and overlays etc.I attach a screenshot.  In the example, the woman in the middle is the source image (Layer 17 Preview).  Everything else is refering to that layer (adjusment-Layer). Deactivating the source image layer would of course make everything disappear. Is there a way to do it anyway? (Muting a layer but get the results of the adjusment layer...).Any idea how I can create this (or simular) Prism-Effects, without the sharp original image in the center?I roughly photoshoped it to explain what I mean. Doesn't have to be that template, but since I am already having it ... Thank you,rené

Somewhere between v. 20 and 22 aerender has stopped reporting progress on renders, ignoring the -v "ERRORS_AND_PROGRESS" flag.I've tried to debug the commmandLineRenderer.jsx file and can confirm that it seems to understand the argument and sets cur_item.logType = LogType.ERRORS_AND_PER_FRAME_INFO; correctly.However both logging to console or file omits the usual pr. frame lines.This is a critical feature for us in terms of reporting render progress to users.I've tested using aerender version 22.3x107 on macOS 10.15.7 and 12.3.1.

Hi There, So, I'm trying to understand why I cannot set Logging option for any given RenderQueueItem in my script. For example, I have the following (pseudocode):var myRQItem = app.project.renderQueue.items.add(myComp); myRQItem.logType = LogType.ERRORS_AND_PER_FRAME_INFO; Then, when I double check the .logType property for the RenderQueueItem, I do see that it has the value of the "ERRORS_AND_PER_FRAME_INFO" constant.  However, when I execute the render the logs actually do not show up.  Does anybody know why? I found this older post at Creative Cow where another developer ran into the issue, but it never got solved.  https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/227/31610 How can I setup logging for renders via ExtendScript scirpting? Thanks,Arie 

Hi everybody, I'm working with the latest available AE with a Dual Xeon v3 based workstation, so AVX2 compatible,  64 Gb of RAM, Asus branded nVidia 2080Ti 11Gb GPU. I have a relatively simple 24 fps project with a single fixed 24 fps video and many, many, many levels of text overlaying as Titles. After a while, adding more and more levels of text, I get this infamous warning After Effects error: overflow convreting ratio denominators:I can ignore the warning, but the latest levels in the composition's list become not visible anymore and if I need to modify one of them I cannot access it, just like it has disappeared in the list, even if they are still effectively present and I can render correctly the final file. Many of the layers in the project disappear even though scrolling the slider in timeline shows them in preview. If I try to delete the only video file in the project it crashes, if I try to copy all the layers and move them to another new project it gives me th
