After Effects

I have a PNG sequence with transparency that I want to import to After Effects. But when I do so, it loses the transparency. If I import just one of the PNGs, it still has transparency. Why is this happening?

Why, when I replace my clips with After Effects, it shows up like two clips or one clip and a mirror of this clip, and why is it always cutting the first 2 seconds from any clip?   Title edited by Mod.

I wanted to start a new discussion because this is not the green/magenta flicker but a problem with the luminance level.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgraded the M1 Mac Studio to Ventura and tested the latest AE update. Prores 4444 and XQ still flicker in After Effects V23.6.Prores does not flicker in AE V23.2.1, so it's something in the software. Here are the settings:Hardware acceleration is disabled both in import and export.Using Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal).Project color depth 32 bits.Color Space: None and Display Color Space: NoneClip color space: Preserve RGB(No Color management setting makes any difference.) Add an imported Prores 4444 clip on the timeline.Lower gamma to make high values more visible.Press RAM preview.The frame you started from, and the first few frames on the timeline have dropped luminance level.The rendered video clip has flicker.Note: When I set the sampling quality to low, Prores does not flicker. Hello everyone! I saw this on the social and tried to immitate it, I used text on mask path but when I try to animate the text moves away from the pathand If i mask it to hide it it chops on the edges and it looks like I put a mask to hide it. Any ideas?  

after effects keeps freezing and crashing on mac and this warning shows every time. I tried deleting the program and re-installizing, deleting cache files and deleting all the plugins and re-installizing it too.

Hi I am going stir crazy.  I have a 8 second video I am trying to render, the original video is 576KB I have rendered it with NO EFFECTS and it comes out at 4.1MB, why is this???All I want to do is reduce the saturation and a little colour correction then export but I do not want the file to be so enormous can someone help? I clicked H.264 in the drop down This video is for web and devs need it in mp4  Any help very very appreciated

I often need to bring in cameras, nulls etc from C4D into AE to work on scenes. In AE 2022 and older, Cineware worked perfectly. I could bring in a C4D file, extract the 3D data within a second or two, and move on.In AE 2023, Cineware now sits there and thinks about my files, often for 5-15 minutes. If I bring the same C4D file into AE 2022 and it processes it in literally 1 second. I even strip down my scene to just the objects I need (eg: an animated camera and a null or two), and the same thing still happens. There's barely anything in the scene for AE to think about.The delay happens when I create a comp from the C4D file. Any fixes for this, other than just using AE 2022? Thanks.

Hi all I'm trying to write an expression for a property in one of the project's compositions. comp("MaskPrep").layer("Pre_Source_Crop").("Effects")("Colorize Lightness")("Slider");  The expression references a property in another composition in the project. I get an error.  Error: layer named "Pre_Source_Crop" is missing or does not exist... ???!???  Adobe After Effect version 23.3.0

I have a problem with After Effects, which is that when I use the Create Reference feature in Generiv Fill, it gives me the first frame without showing any modifications and it does not appear no matter how much I save the Photoshop file.

I'm trying to download/install Creative Cloud and other programs from Adobe, but it's not working. Creative cloud installer goes up to 100%, disappears and I can not find in anywhere. Ae, Ai and others when i download installer and double click on it nothing happens. Please help me I need them to work ASAP

I just noticed this yesterday. I tried many things yesterday after googling solutions but nothing worked. I just updated my nvidia driver and updated both AE 2023 and 2024 and I'm still getting poor playback in 2024. I also reset my AE preferences. Anyone else having this issue? (see attached video) I'm on the latest Windows 11 Intel i9 13900Kand a 4090 gpu. 

i'm trying rotate the third line around that fourth circle. i thought it was as easy as just using repeater and making some rotation keyframes. at first i was able to make the lines repeat around the circle, but it was rotating like an oval and not a circle. now it's rotating around a different point. the goal is to have the line repeat around the fourth circle, rotate for a second or so, and then close to the one line again. 

Hello,I am importing an Illustrator file to After Effects 2023 selecting Composition - Retain Layer Sizes however when I import the file all of my layers appear blank. I've ensured everything is in a top level layer like this tutorial says https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvTh49rXRRs and ensured "Create PDF Compatible File" is selected when saving my Illustrator file. I've double checked there is only a single artboard and my Illustrator file is set to RGB, is 72 dpi, and Caps Lock is off so I'm not sure what's causing my file to import like this.Thanks,Joseph

I have a PNG file in my project that looks fine when editing but is exporting blurry no matter what I do. It is scaled down to 30% from its original size and is not a 3D layer. I'm not seeing much on this forum or Google so any help is much appreciated! Screenshots attached to demonstrate.

When i work with a template, i have to import a lot of photos and the photos have different size. For each Photo Holder composition, i need to scale the photo to make it fit to comp, that keeps happening over and over on every photo, this make me fell sick.I tried several scripts on aescripts.com, but all of them do same "Scale Composition" script, what was built in AE. So, anyone knows there is any script that can select multiple compositions and then choose "scale layers"?

Hello everyone ! I'm working on a stop-motion animation with a blue screen behind.I worked on the original export which is 4096x2731 avi file to remove the blue screen.Now that I have to do more editing and 2D vfx, I would like to make proxies.I am wondering, what codec/format shall I use to keep the alpha, work on windows and get lighter file.I am also wondering if I shall do the proxies on the original files instead (not the compositions) but I'm afraid to lose some of my work If I do so. And wondering what codec/format shall I use in this case.Does anyone would have some informations to guide me ?Thx in advance Joseph

Hey,I've a Composition 1920x1080, Desktop view, which include about 8 different pre-comps and 5 layers of images. Now - I need to copy all these layers to another Composition, which has the size of 1080x1920, for mobile view. But I've copied all layers in the Proect window screen - to make them independent, but when i draw them from the project side window, into the new comp, the structure of all layers within the timeline is gone. If I copy all layers from the first comp, from the layers meny, i'll get the structure (in the timeline) exacly as the first comp, but by this they are not independent - so I cant change the content here without messing around the first comp. How do you guys do - copying the timelime structure to another comp, and at the same time have the possibility to adjuste them without ruin the design of the first composition.One images show the correct AND carefully adjusted structure in timeline , and the other images shows what is happening when

Before anyone says it I already looked up every other thread on this and none of them helped me/applied to my case. I was following a speedlines tutorial for a certain design but at the end I need to use the blending mode "Add" to rmove the black portions of the speedlines. Problem is Add does nothing. Most of the blending modes used to remove black do nothing except for Lighten (barely, I'll get on that later). The next problem is that I have 2 different speed lines comps layered above each other for a panning animation but despite them both being set on Lighten, the comp above covers the one below. In fact, no matter what blending mode I set them to it's still the same result.   The weird thing about it is if I put a solid color layer (doesn't matter what color, I used black in this case) behind both layers, the Lighten blending mode works as intended and I can see both speed lines layers. Despite doing this, only the Lighten blending mode works in this scena

A client gave me some transitions and templates to use for a project - i already had added the original library but there was a new template added, the one in the left hand image that is highlighted. I'm having an issue installing the new motion graphics template, My attempts at clicking and dragging into essential graphics and or the project panel don't yield any results - I've copied it to local library and try searching for it from essential graphics panel but that doesnt yield any results

hello. I was wondering if there is a way to  downscale 4k or 8k video sources in After Effects or Premier Pro editing. When creating a 4K video, I can reduce the lag by using a proxy. However, if i want to output FHD video instead of 4K video, and the video source is 4K video, it will take longer and have lag to edit and render, even if i reduce the composition size to FHD. If i reduce the scale of my footage to make it fit the screen, it will only reduce the visible scale, but the lag will remain when i edit the footage.Is there a way to downscale source footage to FHD without having to encode it separately and then edit it in real time? I really need it.

Hi guys, I am trying to implement some simple copy-paste function to copy effects from one layer to another using executeCommnad in AE, however it doesn't paste keyframes and adds expressions to all properties 'baking' only one value if the keyframe was applied to a property, what can be the reason and the best way to achieve what I am trying to do?
