After Effects

Hi,In the designer window (when using Particular or Form) the PRESETS that used to be on the left side aro gone - nothing there, just a black space. Wrote to Maxon for help, but they take the time, and I need those presets back. Anyone had the same problem and knows a solution?  I am on macOS sequoia, the machine is a mac studio M3 Ultra.AE is 2024 and RG is 2025.4.1.

Hi guys, I need help, thanks for you kind help! I try to use Chinese Symbol in plugin parameter, plugin name, plugin category on mac os, I use XCode to build my plugin, but I meet two problem:1. When I add effect on layer, it show up error: can not convert Unicode Characters2. The effect name is correct in plugin menu, but the category name show strange symbol.

I've been scratching my head for quite sometime now understanding how mask modes work. The end results seem so abritary to me. From what I noticed when a mask is set to "add" and there's just a single mask, inside the mask the original alpha values (0 to 1) of the layer gets multiplied by the opacity of the mask (0 to 1) and outside the mask the original alpha values of the layer gets multiplied by 0. So if I have a mask with opacity 70%, with "Add" selected, inside the mask a pixel whose original alpha from the layer was 0.9 (say), its final alpha would be 0.9*0.7.  This is consistent with what I see happening in the software. Even though I really don't understand what kind of "adding" is into play here.For "subtract" the results are even more bizarre. It behaves just like inverted mask. I just can't understand how the alpha values are influenced.When there are multiple overlapping masks, the end result is something completely different. Are there any specific rules tha

For years the community has been asking for the EXR workflow to speed up and for years this community is still frustrated in Adobe's response to this. Yes, there have been some nice tweaks to how AE interperates the files, helping us shuffle the multichannels a little easier. But the speed in which files are played on the timeline is just rediculously slow, even when working with HD frames.With more and more users leaning into 3D in their daily work, and wanting to have as much conrol over the final output of their imagery, the After Effects team needs to put a higher priority on this request. You would think that compositing exrs would move up on the list of requests since there has been such a big shift to integrate 3D into the Adobe ecosystem. If this needs to be formally asked for again, then I am asking that this push to the top of requests.Also, we all know that there are other compositors out there like DaVinci Resolve 18( which you can get for FREE) that handle exrs much faster

how to remove the Sapphire 2024 plugin from your Mac and address the issue preventing After Effectsi unistalled the plugin its still showing error 

I recently followed a video tutorial on face rigging for characters, it uses a script called Joysticks 'n Sliders. I have downloaded this file but when trying to load it in After Effects it says tat the file type is not supported.Does anybody know where i can find a version for mac? and also how to install and make it work in After Effects?It would be most appreciated if anybody can help me!

Hello,this morning i noticed one of the biggest AE bugs I ever had and still have no solution other than recreating days of work with a deadline right around the corner 😄The Problem: I Try to open a Project that I worked on last week, but I only get the Message "Error attempting to duplicate a text object. Skipping the Text Layer ( 76 § 53 )" multiple times.In the first Case it stopped loading the rest of the project as well and opened empty.Then I tried the last Auto Safe File, where I still got the Message, but it loaded more of the Project, with Essential Grafics complaining that it can´t find some layers (of course). In this Version was not only some text missing but also some Graphic elements (pictures) and Shape Layers.I could understand that maybe my workflow of just duplicating Layers of shapes or text to have a new one is unsafe?!, but i never had a problem with that in the past with even bigger Projects.The crazy part is, that I found some older Versions of the Projec

Hey!  I'm making a behind-the-scenes process video and i want to screen record how my camera looks moving around my composition. Is there a way to make the camera show when I play? this view that I showed in the screenshots disappear when I press play.  Thanks!

I placed my pictures and made them into 3d layers to create a parallax effect, but when i moved any of the layers back or forward, it doesnt change in size or doesnt look like its going far or near the camera. Please help me how do i fix this

AE used to allow you to expand the "current render" option in the render queue, and it would let you watch a real-time log for what is being rendered (every frame, every layer). It was the only way I found to properly troubleshoot expensive effects and needlessly long render times. I found it so incredibly useful for optimisation...but now in 2022 it seems to have gone (maybe replaced with the handy, but way less useful 'render time' pane?). Did anyone else use this? Is there an alternative? Is it hiding away from me?

Hi, so I need to animate a scribble style snake for a music video for my highschool final exam. My teacher advised us to draw 8 similar straight snakes in a psd-file (a layer for each one).  I did that. Where do I go from there, if I want the snake to kind of meander around the frame? My teacher talked about some kind of skeleton animation, but I cannot recall it perfectly or figure out how to do it? Thanks a lot in advance!Elli

Hi everyone,I’ve attached two images for reference:Image 01: Created in Illustrator – features a soft, vibrant gradient look on a gear shape.Image 02: Created in After Effects using 3D extrusion and lighting via the Cinema 4D renderer.My goal is to design and animate a 3D cogwheel in After Effects that looks visually similar to Image 01. However, I’m struggling to recreate the smooth and colorful gradient style from Illustrator within the 3D environment of After Effects.Is there a way to achieve that kind of stylized gradient shading on a 3D object directly in After Effects? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance!

Hey there, Just a message, as I couldn't find anywhere to give feedback to Adobe or Sarah herself... But I was just going through the After Effects tutorials to learn the software, and most of Sarah's ones don't supply the supporting files correctly to follow the video. There's always a file or layer missing.  Hopefully she can see this and fix it for others coming here to learn? Thanks

Hello, I've completed a project with a 32-bit color depth; it featured a glow effect and looked perfect on my screen. However, upon exporting, regardless of my efforts, the colors and glow appeared washed out. OpenEXR was the only format that preserved the image correctly. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to convert OpenEXR to a video format while maintaining the same dynamic range; it always looks like an 8-bit image, washed out, no matter the video format used. I believe Adobe should address this issue; color problems during export are a frequent frustration after significant time investment in achieving a perfect look. If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello.Lately i've had an issue with my after effect. Immediately after lauching the software, i get a message error saying "After effects error : File couldn't be opened for writting : "C:...\Adobe after Effects 22.2 Prefs-Indeprender.txt". (3;;0)" I did try to change in "paramaters/Security" the accessibility for ritting of the folders (and others that ere concenred by the same problem", but everyting seems in check. I've tried erasing the folders, but as soon as I do smth on AE, they reapear, still faulty.I tired desinstalling/reinstalling the software from adobe creative cloud app, even in differents versions, erasing the preferences, but the probleme still persists.This is problematic since it seems to prevent the functionning of a render plugin/script (gifGun) I absolutly need to work.I can not recall any modification of parameters change I might have done to provoc that type of problem.This seems to concern every .txt folders on the media cache. Nor erasing or displacin

I do night photography and will often move lights through the images, creating light trails during long exposures.  I recently set up a video camera right above my still camera to capture a video, the intent being to use Echo and show on video how a light trail is built.So I set up Echo and put it on Maximum for blending, the issue is that there are gaps in the echo effect.  I've shortened the time I feel like I have adjusted nearly everything but am still frustrated at the gaps I continue to see.  Is there some obvious thing I am doing wrong here or another effect I should be using instead?
