After Effects

For the past few days, Adobe After Effects on my PC won’t start at all. This happened after the latest update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, and even tested with an older version, but nothing helped. It just shows this message: Do you know what could be causing this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

EDITED textAfter update to 25.4 I have real trouble with rendering simple composition in my project. What was done in seconds, with new version takes tens of minutes.. In the composition are layers with different blend modes, all revealed by animated mask. Cache cleared, restart AE, restart of computer, updates.. all done..The slowdown is really extreme. One frame lasts about minute or more. There are few layers with color burn mode, which takes ages to render ATM..I can post the project.AE25.4 @ Windows 10, 16 core AMD and nVidia 12GB, 128GB RAM. GPU acceleration enabled..

I'm tracking a portion of my scene (I duplicated my footage and cut out just the part I want to track), but after I succesfully track the camera and create the 3d camera, the null I create is not behaving as expected. For some reason, it's taking the null properties of an track I did earlier in the scene. Why is this happening? I'm pick whipping a bunch of tracking markers like normal, but it just disregards that track and creates a null that sticks to the footage but 20 seconds prior. I'm very confused.

After Effects 25.4.0 no reconoce una de las tipografias utilizadas. He tenido que convertir la tipografia en forma para que al exportar no me la sustituyera por otra.  Lo he probado todo, incluso de desinstalar la tipo y volverla a instalar, actualizar a la última versión de AE.... El mensaje que me sale inicialmente es el de la captura que adjunto. Alguien sabe como solucionarlo? Gracias de antemano. 

I use After Effects latest version,don't startup app from 16th September.I think latest version is wrong. 

I have encountered a bug in Adobe version 25.4 related to EXR files.When applying effects to EXR files (particularly the Extractor effect) the output becomes glitched. The image appears fragmented and unsmooth, which significantly impacts both the preview and the final render.This issue makes it difficult to work with EXR footage reliably.

Hi, When I preview my comp (usually by pressing the space bar) I can't see the red line that tracks the position on the timeline.I know this has been a regular issue, but I've not seen any suggested fixes that solve the problem.I'm using a blank file, I have a seperate drive for disk cache (which is empty), I've reset my preview options, I've ticked Show overlays and controls...Computer: Mac Mini M1AE version: 25.4.0 (build 86)Through pressing everything I have managed to be able to view the red indicator IF i zoom in or out of the timeline once it is running!This doesn't seen like I should need to do this.Attached two images, one just previewing timeline (no red line), one previewing timeline while zooming in/outAny ideas?Cheers Rob 

This is by far the most unreliable version of After Effects I have used in 15 years.  Today I've had about 20 crashes, caused by all sorts of minor actions - precomping a layer, clearing the cache, changing the cache location back to my cache disk after restting preferences.  It's just ridiculous at this point.  Can't you just go back to bringing a new version out every few years and spending the time in between fixing the ever increasing amount of bugs? 

Roto brush (all versions, v1, v2 and v3) keep crashing after a few strokes in AE 24.0.1. Was working before, well sort of, on some shots it worked without crashing, then it crashed several times (with crash dialog box), not sure it was Roto brush specific, it also crashed on simple tasks like exchanging a layer with other footage (no fx on layer, the most basic scenario) and then after a crash or 10 it started working again, no crashes while doing exactly the same things (roto brush, exchanging layer footage) on the same layers in the same comp. Now it started crashing again using Roto brush on a clean footage layer (no pre-comps, no other fx in the chain), except now it's a spinning beachball hang, no crash dialog box. Doesn't matter which version of Roto Brush I use, they all crash, so again, not sure if it's actually roto brush or just After Effects that wants to crash for a couple of hours, only to at some point seemingly randomly just start working again. I have a mask that is a simple polygon on the top half of the screen.  Towards the end of the clip, an odd shaped object comes into view and crosses the mask line.  I want to keep this object out of the mask. Idealy I would create a new mask of the object with the rotobush and subtract it from the polygon mask, but from what I understand, rotoscoped objects can't be turned into masks. Is there a way to do that?  Maybe with the Track Matte?  I'm unfamilar with the Track matte at this time. Thanks

I've been dealing with this issue off and on for a while now. It's just become ridiculous.I'm aligning the object to center, lef,t right whatever. The thing just keeps incremental moving sideways on the x-axis. Why on earth is it doing this? there's no expressions, parenting, nothing. Just a plain image on the timeline and align is malfunctioning.NOTE: there are keyframes involved. I'm guilty of using those. 

Hello, I have a problem using my Plugin Extension called "CRT Emulator" from EZCO as well as "ROLLBACK8".I used this Plugin 1 year ago and it worked fine. THE PROBLEM: When I open the Extension there are different styles i can choose from but as soon as I choose one and try to apply a "style" the second "customization" window does not open. As well as the effect is not beeing fully applied. Ive tried everything I found on the internet to fix this issue.  I updated the Plugin. After effects. I also tried older versions of any of these.  I tried the Debug setting in the ZXP installer. I activated Scripting in AE pref. Can anyone help me out... 😞

I have made several AE comps, and saved them.When I now will open them I get a message telling that the files are missing. Why??

I have a collection of images all precomped individually (so I can replace the images in the future) and I want them to rotate around a central null in 3D space while keeping the images facing forwards. I have tried using 'value - parent.transform.orientation' on the images(child) which works but only when I use orientation on the y axis. As soon as I try and rotate it around x or z the image also follows this and faces away from the screen/world.  Any ideas? 

Hello, I use AEJuice pack manager.And I noticed that there is an option that was added when I installed the manager on my computer.You can see it in the photo! So, I was wonder how can I acheive the same thing as a developer.Thank you!  

If you resize the composition using the "Crop Comp to Region of Interest" feature in version 17.5.1, there will be a difference in the display between 2D and 3D layers with the same X and Y numbers.It didn't happen in versions prior to 17.1.4.The following reproduction procedure1, Creating a composition2, Create a new layer3, Resize the composition using "Crop Comp to Region of Interest"4, Check the 3D layer.Other than "Crop Comp to Region of Interest", the same phenomenon occurs when resizing with "Composition Settings / Advanced / Anchor" selected other than the center.Also, if you open a project file saved in version 17.5 or later in version 17.1.4 or earlier, the displayed position will change.The workaround I've found is to place the camera layer to restore the display.Thank you.

Hello, I think I found a scripting bug with ScriptUI dropdown lists in After Effects 25.4 and 25.5. When an item is selected from a dropdown list and triggers an onChange function, the code executes, but the dropdown list resets, as if nothing was selected. In After Effects 25.3.2 and before, this works as expected. Here’s how I tested it:To make sure it wasn't complex code causing the issue, I created a simple script with a ScriptUI palette that has two dropdown lists. The left dropdown does nothing when selected. The right dropdown executes an onChange function and shows an alert.When selecting an item from the left dropdown, the new selection holds. When selecting an item from the right dropdown, the alert appears correctly. Clicking “Ok” closes the alert, but it reappears immediately, and the selection in the right dropdown is cleared.I tested the same script in After Effects versions 24.6.8, 25.3.2 and 25.4. It works in 24.6.8 and 25.3.2, but fails in 25.4. It'

Running AE 2017 on Windows 10, on a computer with 32GB of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem.For some reason one of my projects has stopped updating/appearing in my composition panel. It's every single comp in the project, and none are terribly heavy. Fortunately an older version works, but that means any work done since then is gone. Any reason AE would corrupt a project? (The same project has the same results on a Macbook with 8G of RAM.) The playhead is where it's supposed to be, the magnification is good, you can actually see layer outlines in wireframe mode. I've tried purging the cache. It just no longer talks to the composition panel. Any ideas?

Hello, I was trying to open an old file of an animation I did and when I did nothing was playing there weren't even thumbnails of the individual scenes and it seemed like there was no way to play it. Is there any way to fix this? I don't have this work saved anywhere I'm kind of desperate and devastated and I am not tech savvy. 

I'm using a translator to write this because my English isn't good, so I apologize in advance.The issue is that I've been struggling with this for two weeks now. My After Effects crashes when I press Alt+Tab. The crash happens like this: my mouse freezes, the screen goes black, and then the video card driver resets.I've already tried updating my drivers. I installed the studio driver, tried other ones, older ones, stable versions—nothing helped.I thought my graphics card might be faulty, so I borrowed a different one from a friend. The exact same thing happened.I've even tried reinstalling Windows three times, but the crashes come back after 2-3 days. I've also tried different versions of After Effects and swapped out my plugins. Still, after 2-3 days, the crashes start again.Honestly, I'm not sure if anyone here can help me, but I thought it was worth a shot.I've been using AE for 2-3 years before this without any problems.Thank you for time

I've been trawling through the internet to get to the bottom of this but cannot find it anywhere, sorry if I just wasn't looking hard enough and there's and easy answer.Premiere has some great keyboard functionality now but AE not so much. I have found I can change my shortcuts in the text file but I just can't find something that resembles something similar to Premiere's selecting at playhead feature.Specifically I want to be able to have my playhead over an exact keyframe so I can select it to be able to manipulate it without having to click it with my mouse. That way I can keep my hands on the keyboard without constantly having to go back and forth. The work I'm currently doing means i'll often have to make position changes (simples ones) but many of them and I'm looking to make it as less repetitive as possible and having to go back to the mouse less if I mess up a keyframe. I can add new ones with shortcuts etc but cannot reselect without the mouse. Any ideas?

So I've been having this issue for a year or so now. I'll be working in Ae and after a period of time (usually a few minutes) the composition window won't update with the changes. It'll be stuck on the frame. Preview rendering doesn't help. I can see the green line rendering but the viewport doesn't update. The only solve is to restart Ae. It's getting a little old now, and happens on my work and home workstations. They're both Windows, both running the latest and greatest Ae, and both quite different spec: one has a 3080 Ti, the other a 1060. Anyone know what on earth is going on?

HiI get this error every time the playhead reaches a specific comp that has Expressions, PSD layers, TEXT layers and Shape Layers.Since there are many thing inside, i'm having problems identifying the issue.I cannot enter the comp, because every time i get inside (or when the playhead reaches it from any level) After Effects crashes.I never saw that before and did not find anyone with that issue.EDIT:So i finally got inside the comp where there was a shape layer with one Round Rectangle that had this script inside it's "size" property:x = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[0];y = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[1];txt = thisComp.layer("TYPE TEXT HERE").text.sourceText;Y = yif(txt.length > 35){ Y = y+40 }if(txt.length > 60) { Y= y+50 } [x,Y]Basically what the script did, was to make the box bigger in height every time the Text Layer(which is a box text) had a line break.Erasing this Expression made the problem go away.Any clues?ThanksFe

Hi everybody!I hope you can help me on something. Im using Camera 3D Tracker on a clip, I have analyse it and in the category ''show track point'' I selected 2d source because those point fit more with the mouvement of the clip. The probleme is that, compared to 3D solved, I can't right click on those point to create a null from them. The only option they give me when I right click on them is to delete them. I wanna know how to use the track point in 2d source mode!Thanks in advance ☺Marie-Christine Laniel

Hello, I have a problem with Sztos font in After Effects. Font is not showing in character panel. I've checked in Illustrator and Photoshop and there is working, also in Figma. I made update of After Effects and still font is not showing. Do you know why? Thanks
