After Effects

Hi, Is there a way to replace an image sequence in duplicate comp without changing it in the original comp? I have a comp with a image seqeunce setup which is used in a certain structure/setup. I would like make a duplicate to maintain this structure/setup but replace the image sequence for another sequence. When I replace the sequence now in the duplicate comp, it also replaces in the org comp.  

Greetings! I am very happy to see the 3D aspect of AE! I have been thinking about subscribing to the full version of Cinema4d. But I have a question about AE. Will or does AE 3D have the ability to render photo realistic animations. As a animation hobbyist I love doing "spacesci-fi scenes" with ships, space background, planets etc... OF course Cinema4D handles that many optional renderers. But Does AE render out with similiar level of realism? Similiar to RedShift or even the built in Physical Render in Cinema4D ?  Thanks for your help on this ! "Live Long and Render Fast" 

Hello, yesterday I just updated the After Effects because the new  "Create Nulls from Paths"  tool would help me to do what I was doing. And helped!So I worked for 6 hours, saving versions, with the autosave on, and everything was doing ok. Than in a moment a saved the project and closed the software to do another thing. When I tried to open the project again, it started to open, i could see the project window filling with my footages, but when it finished After Effects crashed. And it happened with all the versions and autosaves since I used the new "Create Nulls from Paths" tool.I tried to import a project to another, tried to open in another computer and nothing, i just lost my projects and my work. The only projects that still opening is before the after effects update, in other words before I used the create nulls from path.I thought that was a  incompatibility with the "Omino Snake" plugin that i'm using in the project. So yesterday i did a test: i opened the cc201

When I apply fill color to text using the animator, the color doesn't change. Please tell me how to use it.

Hi there!I have a problem where After Effects keep switching to Mercury Software Only by itself without me switching it. Yes, I'm always using Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA). No idea why it does this and it's quite annoying.I tried searching around for solutions but I can't seem to find one or maybe it's just me who's encountering this.Any ways to turn this off? I mean the auto switching. I don't want this option or want this to happen all the time as it slows down my workflow.Thanks in advance!PS: Please see attached for more info or let me know if there are any other information that I should provide to get this fixed.

Ich bekomme ein Vieleck, ZickZack und irgendwas, das mit Uhu nichts gemein hat. Egal, welche Mal- oder Pinseleinstellung ich vornehme. Ich habe schon überall nach einer Lösung gesucht, aber dieses Problem wird im WWW nirgends besprochen. Was kann ich tun?

I'm encountering an issue when trying to use the Content-Aware Fill feature in After Effects.Each time I attempt to generate the fill layer, I get an error (please see attached screenshots).

I added a CSV file in After Effects. The data only has 8 columns and 10 rows. The data is mainly used to create line charts (4 line charts in total). I created null objects through "Create Nulls From Paths" and used expressions to link them to the data in the CSV file for creating the line charts. Around 30 null objects were created to control these 4 line charts. However, I noticed that as the number of null objects increased, the frame rate during preview significantly decreased. Is there any way to optimize it for smoother video playback? Or does the logic of calling CSV files in After Effects mean that calling multiple layers will lead to an excessive amount of data?

I'm trying to add the simple saber glow effect to some text on transparent background. I wanna animate the first letter with a red glow that outlines it. I have been able to do it a million times before but now when i "autotrace" it literally just autotraces a circle. Any help? Could it be because I'm using autotrace on a precomped layer?

I cannot figure out the way to disable the Properties Panel.  I don't want to use it, ever.  I've tried closing the panel and saving as a new Workspace, but everytime I do something like double click a text layer it automatically pops up again LOL.

Never had this issue on my Windows 7 desktop, this is only on my brand new laptop running Windows 10... which should be a lot quicker and run AE better. Anyone else experience this? I press space bar, wait about five seconds and then the preview plays even if it is already loaded.Tried google and found nothing. This is on the latest version of AE but I'm using it for the first time on this computer. Specs: https://i.imgur.com/XpZmZfx.png It makes no sense to me because everything else is fast except this. Additional info: I'm using Mercury Software Only in settings if it matters. 500gb memory and disk cache are empty, purging affects nothing. Display drivers up to date. Working from local drives. Video footage is just small 1080p mp4 files recorded with OBS, so loading them is no problem once the video plays.

Hi, I have very basic AE skills and can't figure this one out. I only want every "C" to be yellow and don't want to manually change it every time I change the words. Tried an expression that looks for every space " " and then changes the color of the character right next to that, which would be the C's: var userText = text.sourceText;if (userText.length > 0) {var modifiedText = userText.replace(/ (\w)/g, " <span style='color:#FCD527'>$1</span>");modifiedText;} else {""} I'm getting "Error, couldn't turn result into numeric value"  Thank you for any ideas you may have.  

I know tons of stuff is created daily with AE that is far more complicated than what I am doing. I have a new Mac, tons of hardrive space etc... Randomly it just does not play previews for long periods of time. Sometimes it just never sends the file to Media Encoder. How do you all deal with this? Is there some special sauce I do not know about? I am a seasoned design professional and I have tried everything imaginable. 

Can i use Adobe After Effects on my iPad Pro

AE 2025.2.2 (build 2)When does an AE effect generate either Transparent-to-White or Black-to-White bump maps? I followed a YouTube tutorial using CC Ripple Pulse. The video host activated "Render Bump Map" and his gradient went from Black (-100) to White (+100). On my PC, the gradient goes from Transparent (-100) to White (+100). I'm feeding the generated bump map into CC Glass, which uses a Black to White gradient. I fixed my issue by placing a Solid Composite effect below the CC Ripple Pulse effect and set the color to Black (00 00 00). Now the comp generates the full black-to-white gradient which is being used by the adjustment layer comp that has the CC Glass effect.My assumption is that the entire project is using a media render that does not use Black in its Alpha channel, or it doesn't have an Alpha channel at all. I'd like to know where that setting resides.

I have a problem with loading a file in After Effects. I tried all the methods, considered all the possible problems, but in vain. The file becomes pixelated. Moreover, in Adobe Illustrator it is 100% vector and clear, after downloading it remains the same, but when loading in After Effects the image becomes pixelated. I redid the illustration in Adobe Illustrator a bunch of times, reinstalled both programs, made a new picture - all the same result.

Hello! I'm not sure if I clicked a wrong button, but my puppet pins for just one layer is greyed out and the pins don't move, I assume because thye're greyed out? Puppet pins that I have in other layers do move, but those aren't greyed out, I'm not sure how to get my pins back to normal?This is what I mean by greyed out, normally they're just in white, but it's like these are blocked. Any advice? Thank you.

Hello, my After Effects keep crashing and giving same error over and over.I only have Creative Cloud and Google Chrome working in the background. Also, I have no plugins in the project 3 Pre-comps and the Main Comp.I already uninstalled and installed AE and still having the same error.Can anyone help, please?
