Hey dev team, I see a silent update to OCIO has snuck it's way into the latest builds. It now supports and provides the built-in ACES 2.0 configs which is very welcome. With that I do want to point out again that I feel the implementation leaves many things to be desired. The LUT based 1.2 config is still present. The issue is that not only is this very legacy already and even ACES 1.x users should not use this config anymore, it's the default when you switch to OCIO color management because it's in the first spot of the list. The OCIO Configuration dropdown menu also does not remember last choice when swtiching between OCIO and Adobe managed so you switch to the thing that shouldn't exist in the software anymore every time. Also consider making ACES 2.0 Studio the default. Lastly this LUT based config also takes up 530MB of additional installation storage. Please I ask you again to remove this from the build. Users that need it for whatever reason can always source it themselves. The p
We're excited to introduce Smooth Zoom in After Effects (Beta) version 25.2.0.113, a major improvement to zooming in After Effects that allows for precise, fluid magnification in the Composition, Layer, and Footage panels. What’s New? Since the earliest versions of After Effects, zooming was limited to fixed magnification levels (33.33%, 50%, 100%, 200%, etc). That’s no longer the case! With Smooth Zoom, you can now adjust magnification to any valid value with decimal-point precision using a new hot text control in the viewer. All zooming tools in After Effects have been upgraded to incorporate this new capability: Precise hot text Magnification control directly in the viewer. Scroll wheel zooming with smoother, more precise adjustments. Redesigned Zoom Tool behavior for a more intuitive experience. Additional EnhancementsYou can find new settings under Preferences -> Previews -> Magnification : Type: Choose between Smooth and Legacy. Behavior: Follow Cur
Hola buenas, necesitaría una versión de After del 2020, por que mi placa de video no lee la actual y necesitaría un link de descarga con esta versión de after ya que averiguando mi placa si resiste dicha versión. Muchas gracias!
hi everyone i really need help with object matte tool. ive done everything possible and nothing is working. im on mac m4 pro. as you can see im in the layer comp, resolution is on full, frame rate is the same, ive tried literally everything. the view: mask doesnt come up as object matte either. i click and my ae just freezes and crashes. im on the newest version of after effects btw.
After Effects AI Assistant cannot access the After Effects project tools.I saved the project, fully quit and reopened After Effects Beta, reopened the project, waited for it to load, and started an entirely new Assistant chat. The prompt I used:“Inspect the active composition and all nested compositions. Do not modify anything. Give me a complete hierarchy of the active layers, source footage, nested comps, effects, expressions, blending modes, and animated properties.”The Assistant reported that no After Effects inspect, compose, edit, animate, render, or project-management tools were found in the session. It only reported document-reading and image/video-generation capabilities.Exact error:[RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND]: Could not load "describe" from skill "ae-inspect".Unless I am just going crazy, but shouldn't the Assistant be able to read the active composition and return its composition/layer hierarchy without modifying the project? The Assistant never accessed the project and could not loa
I’m using After Effects (Beta) 27.0.0 (Build 37) on macOS.When I open Window > Assistant, the Assistant panel opens, but it remains on the star icon and the prompt bar never appears. Waiting several minutes does not change anything.I have tried the following:Restarted After Effects (Beta) Closed and reopened the Assistant panel Tested in a new empty project Started After Effects in Safe Mode and tested againThe issue is the same in all cases.Creative Cloud is signed in with my Creative Cloud Pro account. Adobe Firefly works normally in Chrome, including the Firefly AI Assistant (Beta). Is there anything else I should try, or is this a known issue with the current After Effects Beta?System information copied from After Effects is included below.System info:Application: After Effects (Beta) v27.0.0.37OS: macOS v26.6.2, RAM: 24.00 GB, CPUs (logical): 15
Steps to reproduce:Add a layer style > Outer Glow to a layerSet it to “Gradient”Edit the gradient, moving the colour and opacity stops independently (I want white at location 0%, then cyan at location ~25% and opacity 100% at 35% and 0% at position 100%), so it set it thus and click OK.Click Edit Gradient again, and see how AE has added random opacity stops hither and thither:Can AE not have a colour stop without an opacity stop? I think something this might have been suggested many years ago, but nothing came of it:I occasionally add something such as a ‘corner bug’, a safe zone, etc. on a comp that I want to just sit there for the entire duration of the comp. If I extend the duration of the comp, it’d be nice if I could set this layer to be an ‘infinite layer’ (infinite in time). That way, if my comp was 10secs long, and I then added this layer, I could then set it to be ‘infinite’, so if I then extend the comp to 20secs, the layer will automagically extend until the end of the comp.I propose this would be an option that would sit under ‘Guide Layer’ in the right-click menu. An icon, next to the Guide Layer icon, could then appear to show that it’s an Infinite Layer. Maybe a stopwatch icon? Or an infinity symbol?
We’re excited to introduce a small but mighty workflow boost: Crop Comp to Selected Layer(s) Bounds. Starting with After Effects Beta version 26.0 build x40, AE will resize your composition to the visible bounds of the selected layers: either shrinking the comp to tightly frame smaller content, or expanding it to include layers that extend beyond current comp edges. Many of you have asked for a quicker, native way to make pre-comps and assets fit their true content size—without manual resizing or third‑party scripts. This helps you: Pre‑comp faster with comps that match the content you actually need. Keep projects tidy by removing empty margins. Avoid effect cutoffs when elements (like glows/blur) spill beyond the frame. How to Use:Select one or more 2D layers, then choose "Crop Comp to Selected Layer(s) Bounds" from: The Composition menu Right-click on the selected layers in the Timeline Right-click on the selected layers in the Composition panel Note: This feature is designed for
The object matte tool is not working in the latest version of After Effects Beta (on Mac OS 15.7.4 (24G517) with a late 2017 iMac Pro. I tried everything, but the option doesn’t show up. I double clicked the footage so I’m in the right footage window but even the icons do not appear. Is my system or OS too old maybe?

*UPDATE: Posted in the bug report section of After Effects (Beta), but I can’t delete my question here.I’m not really asking a question -- I went to report a bug and Adobe led me here. There’s a bug whenever using the refine edge tool in conjunction with the object matte tool. When masking multiple people, I am having the issue of after several frames, the entire subject will fade out completely. It seems that the AI is having trouble identifying new edges when the subject moves. Two screenshots are included below. The black is the refine edge tool trying to follow her hair (not doing a great job), the second picture shows it bugging out just masking both of the other kids. The kids faces are covered for safety reasons. The other problem is, when I unfreeze the object matte tool and try to fix it with one of the other tools, it recognizes that I’m selecting them, but then reverts back to bluring them out. I end up having to cut the section out and redo the object matte as a whole new m
I was watching a YouTube video of CoSA After Effects 1.1, and noticed this long-forgotten gem in the prefs:...which reminded me of a feature request I made ages ago (but has long disappeared in the transition to this new-ish discussion forum), and that is to be able to set the default keyframe interpolation mode. I often have to tediously go through many keyframes, setting them to ‘easy ease’ (F9). I know that it’s possible to set the spatial interpolation mode to linear (or not) in the prefs, but it’d be nice to bring back the long-lost option to set the default temporal interpolation, don’t you think?
Multi-frame Rendering is here for After Effects beta users. Right now, you will have access to Multi-Frame Rendering for export only. Keep your eye on this forum, as we will be rolling out new features until we launch. Internally, we have been testing a representative sample of projects with a suite of hardware configurations, and we are excited to finally put this feature in your hands and get your feedback. Test your unique projects on your own hardware so we can ensure that our performance updates benefit all of our customers and meet speed and quality metrics before we launch. Beta testing of Multi-Frame Rendering will last a little longer than some of our other features because we currently do not support Multi-Frame Rendering in Preview, Motion Graphics templates, Dynamic Link, Adobe Media Encoder and AERender Command Line Interface. Check out the blog and FAQ post to learn the following: What is Multi-Frame Rendering? What factors influence performance? Whi
Using text in the beta version has become impossible for. It types out right to left instead of left to right. Resetting the preferences seems to work at first, but then it goes back to writing backwards.

This works in 2026 but not in the beta. In After Effects Beta, FootageItem.replace(File) fails for GLB/3D Model footage with the warning: “Cannot replace a 3D model with this file.” The same GLB can be imported by script with app.project.importFile(), and the same GLB can be replaced manually using Replace Footage > File. The issue appears specific to scripted FootageItem.replace(File) for 3D Model footage. I am wondering if it is a bug or you are no longer supporting it. You can run this test script to see what I am talking about. (function testReplaceOnlineGLB() {var item = app.project.activeItem;if (!item || !(item instanceof FootageItem)) {alert("Select one online GLB FootageItem in the Project panel first.");return;}var f = File.openDialog("C

In After Effects Beta 25.1 Build 36, we are pleased to announce Quick Set Anchor, a more efficient way to change the anchor point on your 2D layers to any of 9-commonly-used-points — all the corners and centers of your layer’s edges. And it's available both from the Properties Panel and anywhere else by keyboard shortcut! Quick Set Anchor can be launched by selecting a layer (or layers!) and clicking the new Anchor Point icon next to the Anchor Point property in the Properties Panel, creating a temporary pop-over Quick Set Anchor Dialog that allows you to click your preferred anchor point location, automatically close the dialog, and be on your way! Besides the Anchor Point button in the Properties Panel, you can also bring up the Quick Set Anchor Dialog by using the keyboard shortcut Shift + Tab to create the temporary pop-over right below your mouse, ready for you to click your anchor point of choice without taking your eyes away from your comp content. Press the shortcut. Cl
Hello everyone, With After Effects (Beta) build 24.3.0.20 and later, there are now several new scripting attributes available for Box Text layers. These new attributes—listed below—control how and where your text is arranged and aligned inside of its box, and are not currently available in the UI.We need your feedback on how these new options might be put to use in your projects and where you would expect them to be found in the interface of After Effects. For those of you familiar with Illustrator, most of these new attributes are equivalent to the Offset and Align options found in the Area Type Options dialog. The new attributes for Box Text are: Vertical Alignment — The existing default value is always Top, but in Beta, you can now use TextDocument.boxVerticalAlignment to set the alignment to Center, Bottom, or Justify. Justify will equally space out the lines in the vertical space of the text box. First Baseline — This controls the distance between the top of the text box and the b
I have a project which crashes AE every time I use the rotobrush, without exception. Steps to reproduce:Open the project I’ve previously created a rotobrush shot on (using v.4.0 of the Object Matte effect).Open the comp, double-click the layer.Click Freeze to unfreeze...or don’t - it makes no difference whether it’s frozen or not.Using either the Quick Selection Tool or Selection Brush Tool, draw a stroke - anywhere, it does not matter. Interestingly, the Object Matte tool does not crash AE, but it does not create the effect I want - it selects too much, so I need to use one of the brush tools. Result:AE crashes, with message:After Effects (Beta) error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Roto Brush & Refine Edge”. Expected:No crash. For some reason, it only seems to work well on the very first frame. smooth edge and well defined nooks and crannies. I advance one frame and it becomes all blocky and loses all of the edges it just had, without anything moving in the frame.
I’ve just updated AE Beta to 26.3.0x16, and noticed that the highlighting of moused-over items in the main menus is so pale that it’s almost non-existent. Here, I’ve moused-over “Preview”, not that you can really tell: Here’s a nice, clear menu in Photoshop: What’s going on with AE’s menus? Interestingly, Illustrator suffers from the same rubbish pale-menu problem too:
26.3.0 (Build 10)Instant crash when dropping any item onto the “Make a new folder” icon at the bottom of the Project window.
