We are excited to announce H264 & HEVC Hardware Decoding on Qualcomm GPUs for Windows on ARM native support. This new functionality enables hardware decoding of H264 (4:2:0 8bit) and HEVC (4:2:0 8bit and 10bit) codecs in MP4 and MOV containers, ensuring smoother playback and editing workflows.    We also now provide support for ProRes in Premiere Pro on Windows ARM in public beta! This also allows smooth implementation of features where ProRes is the default setting:  1. A new sequence can be created using the New Sequence dialog.  2. When using Render and Replace, QuickTime format can be selected. 3. When creating proxies, the ProRes QuickTime Proxy can be selected.   Thank you for being a part of our beta community and for your continued support! 

UPDATE: January 29, 2021 Since the innitial post back in October of last year we have made a ton of progress and some of the details originally posted here are no longer acurate.  I have updated the post to be more accurate to the state of things today.     Here are some important changes to be aware of The Premiere Pro beta is now version 15 (starting January 26, 2021) The captions workflow in on by default - no need to enable it The beta menu has been removed (because you don't need it anymore - the advanced beta features are always on) Applications for speech to text early access has closed and those who have been accepted should have recieved an email.  The email you used to apply needs to match the email (Adobe ID) you use to log into creative cloud. If you did not recieve an email stating that you have been accepted, or if you are logged into creative cloud using a different email you will contininue to see the message stating that speech to text is

We're excited to introduce 16-bit PNG support in the latest Premiere Pro beta release (v25.6 build 64 or later), unlocking higher-fidelity workflows for HDR and professional color grading.   Why it matters: HDR-ready workflows now support 16Bit PNG source media. Avoid banding artifacts and preserve more color detail in post.   How to see this new feature in action: Update to the latest Premiere Pro beta: v25.6 build 64 or newer. Create a new project. Import a 16-bit PNG file and add it to a sequence. Open Lumetri Scopes — you'll notice a denser, more detailed pattern, showing the improved bit depth handling.    Let us know what you think!  

Premiere Pro Beta has support for Open Timeline IO interchage format (OTIO). Our current implementation includes the basic information for interchange with other products that support the OTIO standard:   names cutlist with clips at correct place in sequence source in/out durations starting timecode and timecode formats fps multiple tracks track names linear speed sequence markers (start time, duration, name, color)   Premiere Pro's OTIO support includes Premiere round-tripping information as well:   clip markers (start time, duration, comments, name, color). Seqence frame size Sequence sample rate   When importing OTIO files created outside of Premiere Pro, some sequence settings may not transfer automatically and will require manual adjustment.   To export a sequence to OTIO, go to File menu/Export/OpenTimelineIO. Premiere Pro, version 23.6 and later, offers support for automatic detection and interpretation of some camera log video color space formats.   To enable this feature, you have to make sure you have “Auto Detect Log Video Color Space” turned on. In Premiere Pro v23.6, you can access this control via File > Project Settings > Color and then checking this box:     In Premiere Pro v24 and later, you can either use that method to enable the feature, or you can access it in the new Lumetri Settings panel under the Project Settings section:     It can sometimes get a little confusing because some cameras offer log video space in multiple formats (mp4, mxf, mov), while Premiere Pro's auto log detection and interpretation may only work with one of them.   In the cases where you recorded your video in log space, but the auto detection feature isn’t supported, or isn’t working, you can still use the new automated color management system. The latest beta versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder now include support for ARRI’s ARRIRAW HDE support.    ARRIRAW HDE (High Density Encoding) is the compressed version of ARRIRAW. Files encoded with HDE are approximately 60% of the original file size. This release changes how thumbnails are displayed, reducing flicker. Because of this, multiple ways in which you interact with the timeline are faster and more stable.   Zooming in and out of the timeline (especially using the zoom scroll bars) Performing trim, slip, slide, ripple, and other edit operations   Remember that you can also toggle between different thumbnail display modes: head only, head + tail, or continuous, using the timeline display settings menu (the hamburger icon just to the right of the sequence name in the timeline panel). In v25.2, users could still temporarily enable software rendering by holding the Shift key while launching Premiere Pro and selecting “Use Software Rendering Only (one-time only).” In the latest beta versions of Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, this fallback has now been fully removed – software rendering is no longer available. Software rendering can significantly reduce performance and limit rendering to 8-bit, which may cause image quality issues. Our goal is to ensure that Premiere Pro and Media Encoder always render correctly using the GPU. We expect Media Encoder to run on all Windows computers that are using Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors. Some features of Media Encoder on Windows Intel systems will not be available when using Premiere Pro on Windows ARM, either in beta or in the final release. In the current, shipping version of Premiere Pro, starting playback, then accelerating that playback results in the CTI (the Current Time Indicator, also known as the playhead), skipping ahead, briefly pausing, then starting again. This skipping is often accompanied by an audio pop.  It's particularly noticable when you're scrubbing quickly around the timeline using the JKL keys.    Here's what it currently looks like. I hit L to start playback, hit L again at the first timeline marker to accelerate playback, and again at the second marker.      I'm very glad to announce that we've fixed this problem in Premiere Pro Beta, v25.6 build 7 and later. Following on from our announcement last year, we are removing tape and capture workflows from Premiere Pro, starting with the public Beta version 23.3 (build 14).   What is being removed: Edit to Tape panel  Capture panel  Support for third-party capture plug-ins  Capture project settings  Preferences > Capture  Preferences > Device Control  Menu commands related to the above functionality  Keyboard shortcuts related to the above functionality    What is not being removed: Support for third-party Mercury Transmit plug-ins Exporting to XDCAM drives mounted as a file system    We expect most editors won’t notice a change using this new version of Premiere Pro (Beta). We can now display and change the label color of sequences right in the sequence panel.     Steps to access the feature Update to the latest beta (v25.2 build 81 or later) Go to Timeline Display Settings (wrench in Timeline panel) Enable the following option: Show Sequence Label Color (it is off by default). This option will add a Label color swatch to the left of the Timeline > Sequence panel, similar to After Effects.   You can also assign a keyboard shortcut.  The Timeline > Sequence panel’s contextual menu (e.g., right-click) also has a Label dropdown menu at the bottom. This will change the label color for just that sequence and update the same sequence in the Project panel (and vice versa). We’ve just introduced Dynamic Audio Waveforms to the Public Beta as of Monday, November 25th (build number 25.2.0 x029...this may appear for you later in the day if you are using a Mac this is now available for both Windows and Mac versions). Audio waveforms will reflect adjustments to volume on clips, a long-requested feature.   More specifically, you’ll see live feedback on waveforms when you use the following:  Rubber band and keyframes on clips (clip and channel volume, amplify);  Essential Sound Panel (Volume, Mute, Auto-Ducking);  Effects Control Panel volume parameter adjustments (Clip and channel volume, amplify);  Properties Panel (Volume and Mute controls); Audio Gain.  A Dynamic Audio Waveforms option is now available in the View Menu, can be toggled on and off, and is enabled by default. You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to toggle it on and off. This toggle will also apply to Waveform Scaling for Audio Gain adjustments
