Audition

I have a very simple need but I haven't found a simple fix. Say I want to move a piece of audio from one part of a track to another. How can I do this? I can't find how to do a cut and paste in the sense we do it with text. What happens is I can copy a piece of audio then insert it elsewhere but it lays on top of or overlays what was there. It doesn't bump everything else forward. I edit my audio a lot. I also want to easily move it around. I assume this is what Audition is designed to do. So I'll have a track made up of many clips. I can do what I require but my way seems incorrect and a kludge. There must be a correct, quick, better way.What I do is split a clip where I want to insert new audio then I select everything forward from there. Then I manually move/drag all those clips forward about as far as I think my new clip will require. Then I paste in the new clip. Then I adjust the whole chunk of forward-selected clips as needed to butt up correctly against the last part of the new

Hello,i am a starter in Adobe Audition. i am doing a podcast and i have two tracks in the multitrack view. if i delete certain parts of the recording, i always want to delete it in both tracks. I tried grouping the two recordings which works fine. But i e.g. split the tracks and want to crossfade the two parts, i need to degroup the whole slices and regroup the once i want to move. is there a  better way to do this?Thanks!

I did read some of the forum and I think I know the answer here.  I want to post what I'm doing anyway, in case anybody is doing something similar and has a better idea.I record separate audio clips (electronic instruments) clocked to a midi master as I record them, but recorded separately, in multitrack mode. They are loosely live performed, not following an overall scheme of measures / changes, but they are same tempo.  I want to then arrange these in Multitrack.  I put some preliminary markers at obvious points in the individual files, but as I arrange I get a better idea which point in time is measure 1 and where changes would go.  Maybe I pick percussion to start with and move other track parts around, and start to count measures out to see where changes are/should be, relative to points in time.  I count over 16 or 32 beats add a marker, again and again.THEN.. at around measure 64, in one of the tracks I need to do a fancy edit.  So I say edit source

I'm receiving this error code when attempting to export a multitrack session to OMF. I've successfully exported other files to OMF but then this error code popped up. I've been on the phone with Adobe and still have no answer as to how to solve.My latest theory is that I moved the cache folder to manage storage. Could this be the problem?

For some reason suddenly, if I try an apply anything from Auditions effects and processes - EQ, Compression, etc etc, Audition crashes immediately.Any third party plug-ins seem to be fine!Nothing has changed on the MAC. I am running the latest OS and have been for a while.I'm using Audition CC ver 6, bought as a stand alone. And yes I'm very happy with it (until now!) and not really wanting to enter into the creative cloud bit for this app just yet.Any help, appreciated.Title was edited by: Mod

As you can see, I've got a pretty significant DC situation in this mixdown:I've figured out that this is being introduced by Audition's native Convolution Reverb effect being applied to one of the tracks. (The rack mix goes from 0 to 100 and back down to 0 again, hence the gradual drift down then back again.) Is there some live process I can apply that'll correct the DC offset in just that one track, so I can take care of it before it gets mixed into the whole thing?

I've used Premiere for years but only recently started learning Audition. In the tutorial it shows that video changes (but not audio) made in Premiere will automatically update via dynamic link to the reference video in Audition. In the Lynda.com tutorial the instructor demonstrates this, however, this is not working for me. I did see in older forum posts that others have had this issue, but that was from 2015. Dynamic Link between Premiere and Audition not truly dynamic?Is this still an issue?  What can I do to get this to work?BTW: I have made sure both Audition and Premiere are updated to the most current versions.

Hi! I'm trying to export a range marker I created in multitrack, but the options to export are greyed out.Adobe docs say I have to be in waveform... why can't I do this also in multitrack editor? Any work arounds/solutions? I'd rather not willy-nilly just use the time selection tool for exports.Thanks

This might be impossible, but I thought I'd ask. I frequently have to edit the audio (or video with audio) of my husband speaking bilingually (45 minute Bible messages going back and forth between English and Japanese). He's a native English speaker, so that part is fine, but when he is speaking Japanese, he has a habit of mispronouncing some words that should have a long O sound (e.g. "cope") with /ɑː/ instead (e.g. "cop"; "ah" as in "father") or half-way between the two vowel sounds. Sometimes I can find another place where he said the same syllable correctly and splice it in, but the pitch is almost never the same so it sounds a bit disjointed, and sometimes I can't find a decent replacement at all and have to just live with it. The current message I'm working on has three such mistakes within less than a minute!So I'm wondering if there is something I can tweak in the frequency spectrum or something, so that the ah sound more resembles oh. Reviewing a few tutorials I have not found the answer to what I am sure is an easy solution to my problem.I laid down a music track in waveform. Saved it. I then inserted that track into a Multitrack session. I previewed it, It played. I edited it. When I went to play the track. Nothing. I can't get the edited track to play. I've explored around but to no avail. I am certain it is a simple oversight but I am new and trying to learn my way around. Hello all!I'm an audio book Producer for ACX, but I have yet to figure out how to make my job easier. The audio file's Total RMS must be between -23 and -18 dB, which raises the True Peak significantly. I was wondering if there was any way of targeting all of the "wave crests" (my sound wave vocabulary is limited, sorry) that exceed -3 dB and making them all lower to about -4 dB all at once? Currently, I'm going to every single crest and lowering the dB by hand. So basically, is there any way to lower all crests above -3 dB at once?Thanks in advance!

How can I completely silence the sections between vocal phrases? I find myself doing this manually, which as you can imagine, takes forever. And I did try the noise gate(s) in the Dynamics Processing section. But that was much too complicated, and it seemed to affect all audio (I saw even the vocal parts come down in volume when I applied one of the presets).All I would like to do is select any area of the recording that is less than, say, -30 or -40 dB, and completely silence it, leaving the actual vocals alone.This sounds like a traditional gate. But I'm having trouble finding anything that simple in AA just now. I must be missing something.Thanks!Ken

I am trying to move a Pink noise I generated into a multi-track session. However, after transferal, it normalizes the noise, and results in sounding different from how it sounds in waveform editor. Is there a way to retain the DC offset from the waveform editor into a multi-track session?

Hi,I'm using Audition CC 2017. I'm currently working on a project that requires narration. I wanted to apply markers on a single track and later select all the markers at once to perform operations on it like Amplitude, Filter and EQ or Fade envelopes. But not on the rest of the track.How do I select all the markers on the track at once without selecting the rest?Please help.

Hello - I'm really hoping someone can help me with this...I use Audition for several hours every day. About a week ago I finally installed Audition 12 after using Audition 11 for a long time, and everything migrated over perfectly. But then earlier today I shut my computer down (after saving everything and closing Audition as normal) and then when I just turned it on again and opened Audition, suddenly all my custom effects racks are empty. I tried opening Audition 11 and I got the same result. To be clear: All of my individual custom named effects are still there, and all my plugins are still there, and all of the effects racks that come built-in as Favorites still populate properly - but when I open any of my custom effects racks, they're just empty. None of the individual effects are there.I'm running Audition on a Windows 10 desktop that I've been using for a couple of years - I've had other problems with Audition before, but never this. I am using Audition Cs5.5, Creative labs sound blaster and window 10(64)I want to copy recordings from a hand held Dictaphone to my PC using Audition.  I have at the moment a very short audio cable connecting the output of the sound blaster to the input. The idea is that I can play an MP3 music song and get it to be picked up by Audition. I have gone to Edit -> preferences -> Audio hardware and picked (Microphone (SB Audigy). It seems to try and work but the levels are rubbish. I think you guys could tweak this for me.TIAPaul

I am getting the following error on my Dell Desktop.I have premiere cc also  installed on my laptop and not getting this error.the versions are the same on both systemsCan anyone help?I tried installing and reinstalling several times and no luck.

I just installed a 3rd-party VST effect bundle - Accusonus ERA. I am using these tools quite a lot, but in order to access them, I have to go through multiple layers of directories in the Effect menu. For example, I open the Effect dropdown. Then I hover over "VST," they I hover over "Restoration," then I hover over "Accusonus," then I hover over the actual effect I want to open it. That's pretty darned involved and takes up precious time.Is there a way I can set up a shortcut to go straight into the Accusonus folder and see all those tools? Or maybe to actually just open the ERA Noise Remover, for example. I don't want to APPLY the effect via a shortcut (as each file will often need different treatment). So "Recording" a FAvorite wound't work. But I'd love to be able to just directly open either the main Accusonus folder to see the tools, and then click on one, or to have a different shortcut for each of the 6 ERA tools. Is this do-able?Thanks!Ken

I've looked around in the forum, and I haven't seen a post with this same error code. I'm just learning Audition- so please bear with me if this question is goofy!I'm trying to open a .wav file that has a split track in it, because I want to pull the audio from just one of the tracks. But I can't get the file to open. I keep getting the following:Error: This file is not supported by libsndfile.  Code: 65.  Error in WAV/W64/RF64 file. Malformed 'fmt ' chunk. Is there something that I can do to fix this, or is this sort of file just not editable in Audition? 

Apologies if this has already been asked for many other times, doesn't hurt to make some noise about it.I would love it if Adobe introduced gap closing much like you can do on Premier Pro, where you double click in the gaps, and hit delete and it budges the rushes, or in this case, the waveforms right up to each other. Feel like this could save loads of time!Zooming in and out, and selecting in some cases hours of chopped audio can become a little stressful that a mistake can get made down the line when going back and editing amends. (Still scarred from the bug where it was moving things out of time and not in sync when snap was on)

Hello all,I am using Premier Pro to edit a movie..Whenever I edit an audio track in Audition the playback in Premier pro isn't correct.the track starts off with very little treble (sounds muffled)  then corrects itself, almost like a fade...What am I doing wrong?

haven't used audition in a while.  what is up with the yellow volume line?  I am trying to add keyframes and I can barely see the line on the selected clip.

Why are all the Multitrack mp3 individual track files exported the same length?  Is there a way to export them without the silence at the end? I want the exported files to be the actual length of track.  For example, I have three tracks.  One is 30 seconds long, the second one is 20 seconds, and the third is 10 seconds. I don't want them all to be 30 seconds with silence.
