Bug Reports

As the title says the mask from Premiere Pro is missaligned when using "Replace with AE composition" Also do i need to do the keying for the green screen every time i go into AE?

1. I am trying to create a generative fill on a video clip, (I've created 3 reference images for said clip.)2. When clicking 'Generate Fill Layer' my computer will load to then give me a window saying: "After Effects Warning: Unkown Exception." and an all black alpha layer titled 'Fill [followed by the frames]'. Due to what I've read online for possible solutions: I have removed any fonts from my computer that show a warning according to font book. The error still continues. I couldn't find an solution to this problem online, so I hope this error can be fixed with your help. Thank you.

Hola buenas tardes! Saludos, gracias

Hi there,I am experiencing a continuous lagging issue while using the Roto Brush on my 8GB Ram M1 MacBook Pro. Whenever I try to apply it on a clip, it stutters and fails to preview the footage making me unable to proceed. I have searched for this issue and tried every possible troubleshooting such as: 1. Reducing the RAM reserved for other applications and giving After Effects all the installed Rams.2. Clearing the cache and the desk3. Trying other versions of Roto Brush from version 1 to 34. Closing any app working in the background and leaving AF only active.5. Using proxy footage and working with it.6. Updating the AF to its latest version.7. Tried to divide a 2-minute clip into fewer portions and try on everyone individually but I keep facing the same issue and can't use the tool as well. And other workarounds as well but I keep facing the same issue, please provide me with a solution as I need to use this tool ASAP. Thank you.

I have a new Project. I import a 20 min 360VR video sequence, and drag it into the interface to create a new composition.  After a few seconds, After Effects starts caching the frames into RAM (A green line above the composition timeline.) I can see the RAM usage go up and up very quickly. And will simply keep filling up RAM memory with the cached frames until After Effects errors out.  I can turn this off in each individual composition by going to Composition>Preview and unticking "Cache frames when idle" First. After Effects should not be filling the memory with cached frames. A bit of memory sure. But NOT the whole thing. Especially since I have a nice speedy SSD that I've pointed the cache folders at. Second. There is no option to turn off the Cache Frames when Idle for new compositions. ESPECIALLY given this huge problem that should be an option. I have been trying to find if there is any way of limiting the RAM cache. Either when preview

Hi there, I opened a few months old project which used the Wave Warp effect and noticed it had completely broken, it didn't look like the final render. After some detective work, it seems Adobe increased by x8 the resolution of the effect from version 24.5 to 24.6, but that seems to also have altered the way the "phase" value works. So for example if you had something looping with Phase going from 20° to 70° for the wave to loop, it will not loop accordingly now as the parameters have changed. The solution I found was multiplying all phase values by 8 and that brought things back to normal. But it's a pain and I think the most reasonable would be for Adobe to update the Phase parameter on their end so old projects with Wave Warp still work. Hope it gets solved soon. Thanks

Hi all,Here are three undocumented bugs of sole Cinema4D Composition Renderer (C4DCR) the Support, after a long talks and month wait, finally suggested to post to Community as they don't have an answer. The examples use solids and native AFX plugins, confirmed by a Support agent-expert on their computers.1) c4d_transformation_err.aep - the C4DCR doesn't apply transformations to the nested 3D comps. Here: when such comp is scaled on Y-axis, the rendered result is incorrect.2) c4d_transparency_err.aep - the C4DCR renders artefacts when certain number of layers with transparency overlap. Here: 40 identical solids with mask produce that black box, and it is impossible to increase the number of rays, as the renderer's options are locked to single Quality slider, which can be set to max value 99.3) c4d_zdepth_err.aep - the C4DCR clamps the Z-depth values at some 32000 limit, which makes larger scenes incompatible to such effects as DepthMatte or DepthOfField. Here: there are two perpendicular

Hello, I’m currently working with some plug-ins that are only compatible with After Effects 2022. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to get them to work with After Effects 2023 due to compatibility issues.Would anyone be able to help me with a setup file for version 2022?

Hi all, I am experiencing an issue where the preview rendering is very slow, taking sometimes 30 seconds or more to render after scrubbing and I am trying to figure out why. I have Googled and tried a number of common tips and tricks such as changing the resolution to a quarter, but that doesn't seem to help. Attached are my base computer specs as well as screenshots of my "Previews" "Video Preview" and "Media and Disk Cache" settings in Adobe After Effects 2024. Any and all help/ideas are much appreciated - happy to provide more info if it would be useful as well! Thanks in advance to all the kind souls out there!

Worked fine in 2024. Now exporting a corrupt file.  Tested it by opening a previous project I did in 2024 (again, worked fine in 2024). Opened that project in 2025. Doesn't work.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? I tried uninstalling v25.01 and going back to v24.6.3 and it's crashing upon startup as well. I can't even submit a bug report in-app, just a plain white screen pops up and nothing on the menu bar is clickable.

HelloI'm currently on AE 24, I wish to update to 25 but its the reason to the issue including 24 now...So this issue just started to happen, came out of no where. For the past few weeks, while I'm editing a video AE would randomly shut down with no warnings. This never happened to me before too, my computer was handeling it well it was never crashing, even during a simple rendering it crashes. what annoys me the most is that it just randomly started to happen, it was working really well, rendering it well too. With this issue I have to do so many complex things just top manage to render the video with CC. today all I did was put a clip and then a text, both had NO effects, they were still simple and it just shuts down randomy after 2 minutes.I really need a solution quick as this this is my work, Thank you.I'm currently on a macbook pro 2019 on the latest OS version.

While working with the puppet tool (advanced or legacy), suddenly my comp will no longer render. There are no error messages or any other feedback. The preview just suddenly stops when the layer with the puppet animation should start, and the entire comp fails to render when exported. I've seen a thread  from 4 years ago about this exact problem, but I can't find any solution that works in the new version of After Effects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  (My system is up-to-date, my memory & cache is purged, I have enough memory, and the animation itself is pretty simple)

Problem 1:Dynamic Link keeps getting disconnected after saving linked AE files.Problem 2:Cannot select a point on masks also cannot select multiple points on masks.I had to draw a point, delete that point, and only then i could select a point as a work around..... but still wasnt able to select multiple points..Problem 3:All preferences and keyboard shortcuts didnt copy over to ae 25

Hello! We're experiencing a new issue across multiple computers & users. The viewport will not render, it only displays black. Depending on Resolution/DownSample and zoom factor, sometimes the viewport will render with completely random colors or a digital glitch pattern. This bug is affecting multiple project files and/or comps randomly. It does not matter the source/comp resolution or source image format. After Effects 25.0.1AMD Ryzen 9GPUs are variable RTXWindows 10 & 11What we've tried:Uninstalling/reinstalling AE (discarding preferences)Rolling back to previous AE versionsUpdating GPU driversDisabling hardware accelerationPurging cacheCaps lock is OFFDifferent file formats and source resolution/sizesRemoving pluginsWe don't know what else to attempt and this is a critical disruption. What info do you need? What can we try now? Thank you!

I've updated to the latest version of AE (25.0.1) on my Macbook Pro M2 Pro 16GB. I am now getting multiple errors when launching:- .mov / prores files that were recognised previously show up as missing footage and can't be re-linked or re-imported. - Getting this message: "After Effects warning: Unknown exception" on launch.- I am unable to export from After Effects- When launching Media Coder I get the message: "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an unexpected error and cannot continue". So can't even use Media Encoder.  These are major issues as this now makes the software unusable.  I was running Sonoma and thought upgrading to Sequoia might do the fix but the same issues.I've tried clearing the cache and uninstalling/reinstalling. Please fix asap!!

I switched to v25 in the desperate hope that it would solve the unusably slow interface in 24.  It's not faster, AND it caused some major problems.  What is going ON at Adobe?  With some comps, after working on them for hours, suddenly the second frame won't render.  Seems to be mostly when I have an adjustment layer at the top, but it's also random.  I have updated my graphics drivers, tried 8bpc + 32bpc, tried software rendering, tried purging.  NOTHING works (other than starting a new comp and copying everything over. I'm so sick of this.  I love hours a day to this damn company, and I'M paying THEM.  Stop adding all this AI garbage and fix the software that we depend on.  I'm on Windows 10.  Can't upload any specific details of the project because of NDA.

I can't center anchor point in AE 2024 or latest Ae 2025 using external plugins. Even when I check this ONIt simply creates somewhere in middle of the comp. I made video I am not joking. 😄  https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/bzr65v61nevmxs13hq8oh/Z-znam-2024-11-07-133151.mp4?rlkey=plhd9z08dl0gc2xdr6ge21b9d&dl=0 Cheers.

Hi, When I open After Effects v25 in Windows 11, nothing happens. The program appears in my task manager, but the splash screen never appears.  When I set the compatibility mode to Windows 8, it launches fine. I have updated my drivers and reset my preferences. I don't have any plugins installed. It still gives me an option to migrate preferences from v20 even after I reset them.  Why is this happening? Why does it run on Windows 8 but not 11?

In After Effects 2025 and Beta, under certain circumstances, when adding an effect to a layer from an external composition using ExtendScript, the effect is duplicated, and the effects panel is activated even though the layer’s composition is not active. code used in the video:function comp(name) { for (var i = 1; i <= app.project.numItems; i++) { if (app.project.item(i) instanceof CompItem && app.project.item(i).name == name) { return app.project.item(i); } } return null; } function addShape(){ var shapeLayer = comp("Comp 2").layers.addShape(); shapeLayer.name = "Shape Layer"; var shapeGroup = shapeLayer.property("ADBE Root Vectors Group").addProperty("ADBE Vector Group"); } function addEffect(){ //comp("Comp 2").openInViewer(); comp("Comp 2").layer(1).Effects.addProperty("ADBE Point Control").name = "Position"; } addShape(); //addEffect(); BONUS:It may not be a bug, but it can be confusing.

Can you do anything right for once please?

1. AE 24.6.2 ;2. Win 11 Pro 64x 23H2, Intel i7 11thGen, GF RTX 3070 ;3. I have a 3D comp with two types of animation in it - for the layer transforms and for the effects. Here, I attach a AEP file made of solids alone. In every "Side_*" comp, there is expression-animated Fill effect so that every frame is distinct (tried key-anim, all the same). And, Sides are joined in 'Block' comp, where all those are parented to a key-animated rotating null. Now, I nest several 3D copies of this comp with collapsed transformations on top of eachother. 4. I expect to have a 3D scene where each instance is autonomous. Meanwhile, the result is that the very top layer influences the underlying copies, e.g. changing its time value (animated timeRemap, expression, or simply shifting the layer over time), makes all the underlying copies within the 3D container use the time from the top one - this true for the Effects animation, meanwhile, the transform animation is unaffected. See yourself by shift

My program crashed and when I reopened it, most of the layers were gone from the timeline and the ones left behind had renumbered themselves (1-14 - there used to be around 30 layers). When I scrub over the timeline, or play a preview, all the missing layers are still playing as though they are there. I just can't access or edit them. The missing layers weren't the top or bottom few, they seem to be deleted randomlyI don't have any plugins installed.  I've googled this problem but none of the solutions seem to apply to my problem.  Any help or advice would be AMAZING (please!)

Hi all, I have just downloaded After Effects as my school provides it.    I have been experiencing a constant issue of the app closing down after a minute or even 30 seconds and closing my project. My screen shows this white image and then shuts AE down straight after. I have a  MacBook10,1 23.8 MB of storage left & No hard drive,  It's really annoying lol so somebody please help a girl out, I just wanna do my school work & edit cool tiktoks.                Thanks!   Title edited by Mod.

I'm working on this project which need 3D lines rotating on itself. I can work on them without any problem. However, whenever I try to export them as a PNG sequence (with alpha) so I can use them without taking that much resources, AE gets into a memory leak problem which ends up in a Force quit. The COMP is using the AE renderer, not the classic or the Cinema 4D ones, as I need the lines to have volume/geometry The weird part as you can see from the screen shot too is. that although the system is saying AE is using 149GB of RAM,  AE is saying it's only 10% of the actual capacity (64GB). If the comp (1920x1080) is rendered in chunks of 100 frames per render, it goes through. Anything longer of a render (the actual comp is 2550 frames) goes into the memory leak problem.I'm running the Adobe suite in an Apple studio M2 Ultra 64GB RAM, with Sonoma 14.6.1. One external SSD 1030mb/s  for Cache, and another two (same specs) for reading/writing. They are connected via USB-
