I opened a 2018 project to create a new version of an animation but annoyingly the Red Giant FX are not rendering the same so this file is now useless. Is this an After Effects or Red Giant issue ? Either way you guys need to get this resolved because re-versioning is essential and if it can't be relied on then we will have to change the post system we use. Thanks

I will report this as a bug although I won't argue if it's moved to idea or discussion. When setting up output module templates, the user can manually choose a colorspace for that template.  This is very useful. For example, I don't just have one preset for Prores4444. I have a template for rec709, another for Arri LogC, and another for PreserveRGB and so on.This is a great workflow feature, but the problem is that the color settings in the template will only apply to the color engine they were made with.If I create an output module template for rec709 with the Adobe ICC color engine selected, then choosing that template when the OCIO engine is enabled results in the output color defaulting back to the project working space.The same happens in reverse - if I create an output module template with the color set to ACES-rec709, then choosing that template when the ICC engine is enabled also changes the output color back to the project working space.So really, the output module t

Hi, I'm having an issue wherein my rotobrush turns into a paint brush the second I lay down a stroke. I have tried resetting my preferences and the bug just starts over again when I start a new project/or reopen my old one. I've included a screen recording of the issue. Unable to finish projects while this is happening - Please let me know what I am doing wrong here. 

 Issue - Playback on the cached preview on the timeline is not working. The playhead just jumps straight to the end of the cached preview and will not play the cached section.Adobe After Effects version number - V23.1 onwardsOperating system - Windows 10 ProSteps to reproduce - Create a clip with footage in it. Attempt to play it back.Expected result - The playhead should play from the start of the cached part of the timeline.Actual result -  The playhead jumps to the end of the cached part of the timeline.I systematically uninstalled all versions of AE on my system. Then starting with version 22.0 , install them one at time to work out where it started happening. It works fine on every version up until 23.1 when it starts happening.

I can't move easly layers in 3D space. Performance decrease drastically when duplicating layers, now the Toggle masks etc doesn't disable layer controls (gizmo for ex), layers block while i'm moving them and in the video i'm holding Shift to move layers faster, but it doesn't work. Look in the video how the performance decrease when turning on the 3D gizmo. It's big, it's difficult to move, if you have small layers is impossible to see where they are because are covered by the gizmo. Dear Adobe, we have to work with this program. Software: After Effects 22.6.0 (we have to stay back a year for our clients)Computer: Mac Studio '22, Apple M1 Ultra, 128gb Memory When I am exporting this out of after effects. My composition looks great on all different dimension compositions. During render, my preview looks correct, but after export I am left with this. 16:9 and 1:1 crops look great. but then my 2:3 and 9:16 vertical comps squeeze up to the top of the frame and are left with this green at the bottom. First few times I rendered these same comps this did not happen, then once it started it never worked again. Work around was to export on a PC. Any reports of what this bug could be? This is Pro Res colored footage within the composition exporting to Pro Res. Thanks for your help.Chris

I'm rendering a screen inside a phone. A pretty common thing. I'm using a screen recording from an iphone to place in the phone model in AE (using Element 3D).  None of this is weird, everything is working fine – except for this one comp. There is one frame where the screen recording disappears from the phone. There is media there. I've tried using different frames, moving things around, but for whatever reason at this one moment in my timeline, it thinks the media has disappeared.  I know this isn't explained well, so I provided a video. I cannot find a logical reason for this. I thought maybe it was because frame rates on iphone videos are not constant (and maybe this extends to screen recordings), so I kept selecting different frame, but to no avail.  I'm on macOS 12.6.3, AE v23.2.1 (the latest, as of this post). 

As you can see in the image, I have a problem that only exists in after effects. I am using macOS version 12.6. This is a problem that has existed since dark mode came. I did a lot of research on the adobe forum and couldn't find a solution. Then I contacted apple support and reported the situation to them. Apple confirmed that this is a problem and stated that they will establish a corporate communication with Adobe to resolve it. My expectation is that adobe cooperates on this issue. As I am usually a night worker, this bug is an annoying and negative problem for me.

Hi,I've just come off a lengthy chat and screenshare with Adobe Support (transcript attached).My issue is unresolved - they told me to wait for the next patch, and recommended I post the issue here.I have a Mac Studio M1 32GB running Ventura 13.2.1Media cache is on an external SSD.Adobe agent confirmed my system is fine and AE should work normally.Since getting the new mac and latest AE (23.2.1 - Build 3) I have had numerous preview and rendering lag & crash problems. The latest issue is when I use the rotobrush - refinement brush.I'm trying to refine the selection around a model's hair. When I do this using the refinment brush, and select "BEST", AE tells me it cannot process this and I have to revert to standard. The quality of the hair in Standard is terrible.Periodically, AE tells me to revery from rotobrush 2 to classic.I tried running AE 2022 to try and achieve the refinement, and it crashed.There are many people having issues with AE and the new M1 mac. Version - 23.2.0 OS - Windows 11 PC   No matter what I do to try and save favorites for quicker access to my files in the Media Browser, they won't save to the Workspace when I open it back up after finishing up a project. I will save Videos, then save changes to Workspace, close the app, open up, and it isn't there. Super frustrating.

Hello. When render starts it load my CPU about 30-50%. As soon as the Memory (RAM and memory of GPU) fills up, performance drops sharply. CPU load is 5-10%. Multiframe rendering stops working, render is on only one core, AE shows 2 fps, but truth is 0.2 fps. At this point, a lot of "Issuing Purge Request" and "Purge not freeing anything" messages appear in the AE console (AE has console!). This behavior is the same in all my projects.I am sure that the AE can render fast and use all the processor cores, but some problem prevents it from doing so.My PC: AMD Ryzen 5900x, GTX 1060 6Gb, 32Gb RAM, NVME SSDIn my projects I use Illustrator files and DUIK Plugin for character animation.I contacted the Adobe's support service for help, they worked remotely on my computer for 2 hours, but could not fix the problem.

Hey everyone, Hope all is well. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this.I'm having a very particular problem. Ive been importing objects in and out of AE and into Preimere. Suddenly after reopening the premiere project (that was closed for 15 minutes) that has one of my objects in it, it now comes with a green line all around almost like a stroke of some sort. I thought it was some sort of corruption so I re-rendered out but now it happens everytime! No matter the object in the preview theres no green line, then when rendered or brought into another application there it is. Now it even happens to the exported video with no other application. This wasnt happening less than a couple hours ago.  The only thing I've been changing is Video Coden from Apple prores 422 to Animation or Apple ProRes 4444.  Attached are some screenshots of what I'm talking about even looks like. Would appreciate the help!   

I have an h.265 video that has random exposure flickering when imported and played.  it does not matter how it is interpreted or whether it is placed in a timeline or not.  Very small amounts of exposure change, but when crunched and viewed on a scope become quite apparent.  I was able to temporarily work around it by getting a 4444 video from Resolve. using AE 23.2.1windows 10

I'm on a brand new Mac Pro M1 and AE 2023 is killing me with the CONSTANT "Low memory" warnings. I see an earlier post saying that an update was supposed to fix it but it has not. It also said that anyone still getting this "low memory" warning should start a separate post for troubleshooting - so here's mine.  This is destroying my work life as I battle this AE bug as I try and meet my deadlines. Can someone please help?  I'm using AE 23.2.1  Model Name: Mac mini  Model Identifier: Mac14,12  Model Number: Z170000G8LL/A  Chip: Apple M2 Pro  Total Number of Cores: 10 (6 performance and 4 efficiency)  Memory: 32 GB  System Firmware Version: 8419.80.7  OS Loader Version: 8419.80.7  

Hello Team,I am creating a 16480 x 90 px LED stadium video for 30 seconds, 30 frames/sec and trying to save as an mp4. When rendering with Media Encoder 2023, the H.264 mp4 exports as 16384 x 84 px by using "Match Source". I cannot see any other options to get the exact 16480 x 90 px size. BUT when I pre-render and create an ".mov" file, it comes up exactly as 16480 x 90, but the file is 1.02 GB versus a 38 MB mp4.Would you guys have a solution and have thoughts on why the .mp4 export decreases to 16384 x 84 px. I'm thinking about creating a 16576 x 96 px working file just to see if it'll size down to 16480 x 90. Please let me know when you have a moment. Thank you. - Jason

I was writing an expression using the 3D Point Control effect and noticed that certain input values get approximated, including a long string of decimals.  This becomes problematic when trying to use the effect in expressions that perform operations on the value (i.e. the modulus of the 3D Point Control value).  This only seems to be certain values of 3D Point Control effect and also the Point Control effect.   

Something I've just noticed about AE2023. Used to be, if you were editing an AI file whose layers were open in AE, AE wouldn't lock it and would just update whatever layers it was using. (The exception was if Premiere was also open and the AE comp was in Premiere's timeline.)I just noticed that even without Premiere open, an AI file I'm working on says it can't save the illustration while its layers are open in AE2023, but the second I close AE, it saves just fine.AE2021 and AE2022 didn't do this, and I don't think I've seen this from AE2023 until recently. Is this something anybody else has seen?

Greetings,I find myself with a rather difficult situation to workthrough and could use whatever advice anyone is willing to give.  After Effects will open and when I import an image and drop it into a new composition the comp becomes frozen. I can close the window and open it back up but the lines around the image are still there. When I close the program and attempt to re-open nothing happens. If I attempt to uninstal the program after this happens Adobe alerts me that After Effects must be closed before uninstalling. If I open task manager to verify that it is not open After Effects is not listed amongst the running applications. Here are my specs. This is a brand new build.  Windows 11 ProIntel i7 13000KF (Includes Intel UHD) 64 GB DDR42 TB Samsung M.2. SSDAMD Radeon WX3200 4GB After Effects 23.2.1 

When I start the program it just crashes and won't start, any actions suggested to solve the problem don't help. Nvidia video card.

Hey, I have this issue since the new version of After effects.In this case I use multipass exr files. And when I extract them and want to look at them the program doesn't update the viewer. I can scroll through the timeline and my camera/nulls are moving but the viewer doesn't update and keeps the same image on display.This is unworkable.The only fix is to restart after effects but in many cases when turning a layer on or off the same thing happens and the viewer freezes again...Let me know if this is a problem happens to more people so that this can be adresses. I think it is absurd for the amounts of times this app did not work correctly. It should be possible to stop the moneyflow to adobe at these times. This costs me money and problems.

I have embedded (using Adobe Dynamic Link) a premiere sequence in AE. After adding animations, I had to go back to premiere to edit the sequence a bit. When I go back to AE, visually, I can see the edit that I made reflecting in AE, but there is no audio. I've tried just about everything to get it back...but the only thing that seems to work is I have to close the AE project, and open it back up again. Then the audio plays fine. It seems like the video is updating in AE when I make a change to the embedded sequence in Premiere, but the audio does not sync...in fact it drops out completely until I close and then reopen the AE project. Then it is totally fine. Am I missing something obvious, or is this a bug?

I have this Comp, where on render time, Ae is saying "1 footage file required... is missing".But Ae does not tell which footage file. It would be really appreciated if it could give us a hint of the missing file. (Or a hyperlink to the project entry, of a search button to replace it directly)
