I have a requirement to build a software simulation based quiz, where the user is penalised for clicking in the wrong place. The only method i've been able to come up with is to have multiple identical steps in the quiz which only allow 1 attempt before moving on: Slide 1 Question 1 "Click on the X" - 5 points, jump to slide 4Slide 2 Question 2 "Click on the X" - 3 points, jump to slide 4Slide 3 Question 3 "Click on the X" - 1 point, next slideSlide 4 Next Question... This works functionally but leaves me with the following issues:Question Count is wrong, a user will assume they've just completed 1 question successfully, in reality they have missed 2 other questionsMaximum score is wrong, a user who gets it right first time will have still missed out on 4 points Can anyone advise on an approach for this? Is there a way to manipulate the system variables for total questions and maximum score?
I have been usiug Captivate (Cp) for many years and never had this issue until Captivate 2019. While recording screens for a software simulation, Cp does not capture the screen and the drop-down menu correctly. When I capture a sequence that includes showing a drop-down menu, the prview show the text caption where to click, but the drop-down menu does not show until the last second of the slide. It goes by so fast it is unusable. When I edit the actual slide, the drop-down menu "drops down" at the last second of the slide and I can't edit or change the timing. I think Cp used to capture this as two seperate slides, one showing the mouse on the way to the drop-down menu and another slide with the menu "dropped down." I also tried manually capturing extra screen shots, but that is not working well either. I searched but could not find help articles or YouTubes about this. I can't be the only one having this issue, am I?
We have an extensive Captivate application running under Ilias LMS.There are two user groups:Group 1:This group can access the TOC, but cannot navigate over the TOC. The TOC only provides information about the content. Nothing more. The members of this group must work through the application linearly.Group 2:This group can call the TOC and navigate over the TOC. Via the TOC the members of this group can move completely freely in the application.Question:Can this different usage be controlled via Scorm so that we only need to install the Captivate application once on the Ilias system? Thanks for your answers.Thomas
Hi,In captivate, how can I make a multi column of checkboxes selection like the picture below? Thanks!
I successfully created a number of files using Captivate using a trial licence. I have since arranged ongoing (paid) access to Captivate 2019, but am unable to run the files that were created under the trial. Grateful for any suggestions that might prevent me from having to re-create the files.
I have been using Paul Wilson's Youtube video on creating a button that allows learners to retake not only the quiz but the entire course and the quiz as well: advanced action:Execute JavaScript which reads: cp.resetQuizData()Jump to Slide 1 It works great! But, now I have a course that has branching with buttons that change states once clicked, and some are disbled after being clicked as well. When the learner uses the "Retake Entire Course and Quiz" button that I created, it functions as it should, but does not reset those clicked states back to "Normal" - the grayed out buttons are grayed out and/or the ones that were set to be disabled in the advanced action are also disbled not allowing the learner to progress through the entire course again. So my question is: is there another quick and easy way to reset all the states of the buttons back to Normal or does this have to be done by adding more lines into the advance action for that retake button, with "Execute JavaS
I have faked tabs for users to click on to open different files. Each tab has an invisible button that has a rollover state with the full file path on the tab and an advanced action that opens that tab. Unfortunately, when I click some (but not all) of the tab buttons, the rollover state lingers and doesn't disappear until I hover over that tab. The tabs all have almost identical actions (the only real differences is that the current file group is opened and it goes through and makes sure that the other files are closed. It also hides/disables the "active tab" so that the user can't click on it and makes sure all the other tabs are shown/enabled). The first image is one where I had clicked the first tab and the rollover state from the previously opened tab (the final tab in the line) is present. The second image is of what happens when I hover over the other tabs (note the overlapping text because the last tab's text won't disappear until I hover over that button)
Is it possible to correctly simulate a click-and-drag highlight interaction on a Captivate simulation? I'm working in Excel and want students to highlight two columns by clicking and dragging the mouse. I could just place a click box over both column headers that would work when they released the mouse, but when they're in the process of highlighting the columns, the students won't experience the actual interaction (where the columns highlight as you drag across). For two columns, this isn't a huge deal, but there will be more interactions later on in the development of this course that will require more highlights than just two columns and I'd like to be able to simulate the actual interaction as closely as possible. Thanks in advance for any help you guys/gals can provide!
Hello! I'm looking for a way to generate a visual that uses data pulled from a variable. Specifically, I'd like to display a user's quiz result percentage in the form of a radial gauge of some sort. Any suggestions? I haven't found a widget for this in the product, nor another post about it, but I might be searching wrong. Thank you!
I've used Adobe tools for years and most of them are very good - but I think they should come clean on Captivate and admit that it's a neglected and/or failed product. I've used it on and off for about 12 years but hardly at all in the past 3; and having come back to it recently at a client's behest, I'm astonished at how bad it is. I'm no mug as a developer - I spend a lot of time using game engines, and I spend probably 50% of my dev time in Captivate working around the endless list of glitches, blind alleys and bizare interface issues. As far as I can tell the only thing it has going for it over Storyline is that it's about a third of the cost. It used to be more of a grown up version of SL but SL (whilst still having its own problems) has overtaken it significantly in the past few years. I'm interested in what Adobe's plans are for this product in the near future. Kind regards
I created a compliance course with an 8-question quiz in Captivate 2019. When I upload the course on CSOD LMS, the Course shows In-progress under two scenarios. 1) Course completed successfully with 80% pass percentage, but CSOD Transcript shows course is still in progress2) Course was not completed successfully, in the sense that user could not score 80%, decided to click the Review Quiz button, after which the Retake button disappeared, and clicking the Continue button didn't take the user to the last slide, which was the Thank You slide, and CSOD Transcript again shows course is still in progress. Here are some Quiz Settings screenshots for review from my Captivate 2019 file:For the Standards fields in the below screenshot, I selected SCORM 2004, and selected 3rd Edition through the Configure button.Below are the Advanced settings. In the below screenshot, would checking the first and third boxes from the top as well, make a difference? In the below screenshot, is selecting "Pass
HiHas anyone had issues installing Captivate onto a Macbook Pro?I have a new contract which involves being given a Macbook Pro. Not very experienced with these over a PC and running into a few issues which I hope someone could help with?I have downloaded the latest version for Mac as I know older versions had issues. The install process seems to go ok but when I come to open Captivate I have a warning saying that I have missing files. These are theme files and the warning to to copy these files from /applications/Adobe Captivate 2019/Gallery/Layouts/11_8/en_Us to /Users/fredsmith/Documents/My Adobe Captivate Projects/Layouts/11_8/en_us When I come to look for this file My Adobe Captivate Projects file has been installed on my Icloud drive! I copy the files over as requested and then all seems to work for a while. The two files are: when I look I find them in my Icloud drive! I have to manually download these and copy them into the install folder. This I have to do every time I open
Hi Team, I am developing a accessiblity compilant course. Screen reader NVDA is not reading the 'Slide Accessibility' text. I am not sure to understand why it is not reading the text. I followed the below steps mentioned in the adobe site Please help me on this request. Tahnks.
Hi Team, I have created a set of quiz with 'Submit All' option. The below Captivate dynamic window is appearing after the last quiz attempted. My question is how to enable the accessbility for the captivate dynamic window so that learner can use TAB and SPACE keys to select the 'Continue' or 'Retake Quiz' buttons in the dynamic window. Thanks to share your reply.
Hi, Please suggest why I am not able to add 'Accessbility' text for the 'Next' button in Quiz. I would like to add the accessibility text for the 'Next' button so please guide me, thanks!
Hi Team,I am developing a HTML 5 output accessbility course using Adobe Captivate 2019. For the screen reader, I use 'Narrator' app. How can I let the user to understand thier quiz score when they use only tab key? In short, how can I make accessbilie for the system / user varaibles?. Please help. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks.
Hi, I have created added the customozied progress bar for interactive video slides. I have added the accessbility text for all the buttons in the progress bar (image attached below). When I press tab key, selection rectangle is moving based on the tab order assigned. Using the space bar, I muted the audio of the interactive slide. My question is when I would like to trun on audio that time selection rectangle is not going back to 'mute' button, I don't know why. If I turn off mute button using selection rectangale, it should be possible to turn on using selection rectangle, right? But, when the selection rectangle is in the same place that time it is possible for me to turn on audio. However, after turning off mute button and brought selection rectangle to some other button, I am not able to bring that selection rectangle again to the mute button to turn on audio. Please guide me.
When I check in preview for smaller devices, the right side of the caption that is highlighted in red is getting cut off. The same thing happens even when I set the margins to zero. I don't know if this is a bug or a quirk.
Do I still need soundflower to record a video using Captivate to get the system sound? If so, where is a safe site to download? Best, Steve
Hi All,I'm experiencing some frustratingly slow performance while authoring content. For example, moving a box, quiz question, image, etc. takes upwards of 15-20 seconds. CPU usage spikes to 80-90% on one of the four cores, and Captivate stops responding until moving the item is completed. This even occurs where there are no other applications open. The computer I'm using exceeds the system requirements: Core i5-5200U8GB of RAMAny advice?
Hello,I have a screen in my project with three buttons. In the advanced actions, I've "Changing the state" of the selected button to "Selected" and the other two buttons as "Normal". When the first button on the screen is selected, it does not go back to Normal state even though it's in the advanced action for the other two buttons. Any ideas?
Does anyone have a simple and automatic method of including assets/data/js files into a Captivate project, so that they are included in Preview and Publishing (as zipped file) outputs of the project? I don't want to keep trying to find the temporary preview folders or keep modifying the published zip file to add the files, it just seems to be a "hacky" step, and should be capable from within the tool itself (preferences / options / properties etc.).
For years I've been manually inserting the JavaScript code with my Google Universal Analytics (UA-) ID into the HEAD section of the index.html files that Captivate generates. I made a keyboard macro to type it, but it's still kind of a pain. A completely automated deploy step would make it easier and less error-prone to push out updates. Now that Google is replacing the UA- numbers with G- numbers, I figure it's a good idea to find out whether there's a better way to do this. All I really want to do is track traffic to my various e-learning modules in Google Analytics the way I can do with my conventional web pages.
I installed Adobe Captivate in German, but I can't export projects in English. Captivate ignores the project's language settings and exports all texts (in assets\js\CPM.js) in German. Enterprise support suggessted to reinstall Captivate in English, but I have to export projects sometimes in English sometimes in German. Is there really no proper option inteded by Adobe!?
I have questions/issues. The first one is I uploaded a slide to captivate with an iPad and then I uploaded a YouTube video to that slide in captivate. I changed the action to the slide to pause on enter and exit but a few seconds in to the video the whole background disappears and you see the video playing on a white background. What can I do to keep the background so it looks like the video is plying on the iPad?
