Captivate

Went out on a limb recommending Captivate (latest rev) and Captivate Prime as a eLearning solution. Absolutely stunned to find that a 6-year old program has "disappearing" slide navigation, and the recommendation is to render the file as a SWF format--on a Captivate Prime server. Other issues with font retention, substitution, lots of twerks and bugs to iron out, a 12-step checklist of things you have to tweak before you post to Prime. Really stunned that this product is in the Adobe product line, or that it is cared for as badly. We are trying to get help on these matters, but a 3-month job has now run into 6 months and my management is wondering why we did not go with Articulate or even a simpler LMS.  I don't know what to tell them. Our training provider seems to only want to sell us more training, and the individual bugs are as surprising to them as it is to us. But, in stellar software industry fashion, I am supposed to believe that the next version of the code is going

Greetings, I have been tasked by our project manager to find out if Adobe Captivate is able to work with Git for version control (The company has been using Captivate for a while as well as Git for a seperate portion of the work done). On searching the community, the most recent information on this topic I could find was from 2018 advising that Captivate is not very version-control friendly, especially with Git, which would view .cptx files as binary (referenced post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/captivate-discussions/captivate-2017-and-version-control-git-etc/td-p/9619514). It additionally states that access to the necessary media for the captivate project would potentially be lost due to no longer having access to the exact paths needed unless the project was accessed from the development computer. Is this still the case? Have there been updates that have allowed for version control? Is a different program able to establish version control with Captivate more effecti

I have tried a responsive project and blank project with adding effects to objects. When I preview it from the timeline it works, but once I preview it in the browser it does not work. I even tried to publish it to see if it worked outside of Captivate, but nothing has happened. Can someone help, or point me to a tutorial that solves this?

Hi all, I have all of my slides set up with advanced actions that only allow the user to continue to the next slide when all buttons are clicked and listened to. I also have programming to allow for users to rapid-fire click through buttons on slide revisit without being "locked" in to listening to a certain button. The client wants a play/pause button, but the inbuilt playbar allows the project to continue and overrides my programming. Is there any way I can make a play/pause button that does not interfere with my advanced actions?Thanks!

Hi All,I would like to have the Rewind button on the Playbar to jump to the second slide not the first when the user clicks it. Is that possible? It's for a full screen software simulation and parking a button on it would look strange.  I'm using Captivate 2019 with the latest updates.  Thanks,

Im relatively new to Captivate, all the comments I've found are old so there's no real help for my current problem.I have already insterted a new slide, added animation as well but when previewing or publishing my project some of the text on some slides are not shown. How this can happen?

Hello, I'm having issues with loging in to captivate since Adobe has updated their Admin Console services.Normally I would sign into captivate via the creative cloud app. After this update I have been asked to log back into my account, but this does not seem to sign me back into Captivate. Whenever I launch Captivate I am prompted to input my activation key? Is there anything I can do? many thanks.

Hello! I am currently evaluating the purchase of Adobe Captivate and have been watching some webinars on how to use it. I'm hoping you can answer a question that will help me understand the whether or not I'm barking up the wrong tree. I author online help system (like this one) that are most typically used as an ad-hoc reference for users and not necessarily reading "cover-to-cover" in one sitting. Some of those help articles are re-enforced with a short "how to" type of video. They are currently done screencast style using Camtasia Studio (or similar tool) and average about 4 minutes in duration. At the outside, one or two of them run at almost 9 minutes playback time.  [Here is an example help article that includes a short, 2 minute video you can watch.] I hear great things about Captivate and I recognize that it can add some interactive elements that Camtasia isn't sutied for. The timeline shows the animation is suppose to start at the beginning of the slide but it doesn't appear unless you click in the area where the animation is suppose to be.  This is in Captivate 2019 and I believe the animation was built in Adobe Animate.

I'm running background music (Cap 9) and need it to stop on a slide that has an embedded video.  I have used the "Stop Background Audio" button, which works fine on my iPhone, Mac, and PC.  When I run the course on my iPad, the background music doesn't stop.  Anyone else ever see this? Thankskeith

I am working on a module that has state view slides. On the slides I want the learner to be able to hear an audio file once they click on the button. Is this possible to do this in a state view? Here is a screen shot of my module. Thank you for any assistance.Diane

Hi AllI am having trouble with a conditional action, and no matter what I try - I cannot get it to work. Background: I create custom knowledge checks (multiple choice), so I can have more control over how they look. I do this using variables and advanced actions. This works fine with single answers, and does the following: On entering the slide, a variable for the question attempt (they only get 2 attempts) is set to 0.When a learner selects an answer, it assigns a variable for that answer with 1.When clicking submit, the advanced action checks the attempt number (variable), and the answer selected (variable). I have 4 decision groups that go like this:First attempt = correct. Show correct info and next buttonFirst attempt = incorrect. Show 'Try Again' info and close button. The close button changes the attempt variable from 0 to 1.Second attempt = correct. Show correct info and next button.Second attempt = incorrect. As soon as i move an animation in the timeline it is no longer displayed in the html5 browser view. Can someone please help me. I have already removed all the pauses and set all the slides so that they are displayed until the end. 

I have read some articles, probably missed a few- stating that using for example Onedrive for some of Captivate folders may corrupt projects.Which folders/type of media and project files etc should/could I: 1) put in C:/Folder with no syncing to Onedrive? 2) put on any Onedrive folder which is locally saved and also synced by onedrive to cloud3) put on Network folder/ Sharepoint etc -  files and folders which may not be locally on my computer Regards Jan

Hi!!I think its imposible, but, it would be possible to combine an interactive project with a 360 slide?If there is no way to combine the two types of slides in the same project, could I create two projects and link them so that during an interactive project, when I reach a certain slide, it takes me to another project with a 360 image?Thanks

HiI have a menu in master template that are grouped and added to the first slide. The group are set to "show for rest of project".When I check the box for hint it wont show up.If I try to add it to another button in the same master template, also set to show for rest of project. It works.Is it te group that is the problem?

Hi,i'm preparing a test for the user where he have to do some actions ( usually its button clicks and text entry boxes). If he won't do it in right way there is a window with information what he should do and a button "Continue".  For this button "Continue" there is execute advanced action:1. Go to the next slide2. Increment "Wrongs" by 1.*"Wrongs" - variable set to 0 at the beggining. And there is a problem. I would like to have at the last slide something like this:"Sorry u haven't pass the test. / Great u passed the test. You have scored: 30% (3 points)."How can i count and add something like this? - "You have scored: 30% (3 points)."Please help 🙂

Hello, I need to have 3 banks of Test questions. If the user fails on first try, the 2nd bank of questions are presented. If the user fails again, the 3rd bank of questions are presented. If the user fails on the 3rd try, a message is displayed.  How do I implement this in Captivate?Thanks

I have two queries regarding a quiz.BACKGROUND: There are nine questions which the user needs to answer correctly to pass. If they answer any incorrectly they will need to retake the quiz.  1) Firstly how can I set the first 8 slides to just have buttons 'next' and 'back' and the 'submit all' button to be on the final question slide only? At the moment all slides have the three buttons. I cannot delete it from the individual slides and if I attempt to delete it from the master slide I assume it will delete from all 9 slides. See screen grab below.2) Secondly when all questions are answered the user receives the screen below. • When all are answered correctly I would like there to be no options other than a screen showing 'Congratulations, 100% correct' (or somthing similar). Then the quiz closes down or an exit button perhaps.• If there are any incorrect answers I would like there to be just a 'retake quiz' button, not a continue. How can I achieve this?  I hav

When attempting to preview or publish my Captivate project, I recieve only the loading circle on a new window. The project in question was working fine this morning. After some minor changes it doesn't seem to be able to load. It's a 30 slide project, so I thought perhaps it would just take time to load but that isn't the case either. Any assistance, suggestions, advice, etc. would be much appreciated.
