Captivate

I'm in the process of converting my Captivate projects to HTML5 and am experiencing a number of issues.  A primary issue I'm having is with text entry boxes.  In running my conversions through preview or through my LMS stage, I'm finding that I must press TAB (or ENTER), whichever is required -- multiple times (in some cases, up to 12 times!!) before my text box entry action takes affect by either moving to the next field or to the next slide.  I cannot seem to find where a similar problem has been brought up.  I create software elearnings and TAB, ENTER, SHIFT keys are how users navigate through the screens.  That makes this a big problem for me.  By the way, I've already made sure my text boxes are at the top of my timeline.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Can anyone tell me what I must do to modify this action for HTML5? 

I have been asked to add a video clip to the review of quiz questions at the completion of the quiz.  The goal is for the user to see a video showing the correct answer.  I am not clear on how I do that since it the quiz slide is not editable (at least I have not found a way) if the answer is wrong.  Do I need to create different states of the slide or is there a more direct method.  Thanks for any assistance.  

Hi all. Been using captivate 10 for about a month now and I have recently begun importing PPT files that were converted to 1920 x 1080.While editing the project I see the project screen like this (black box placed to not give away company)When I publish the project, preview the slide, or presentation I this happens.I am not sure what I did wrong. I did not have this issue on the 1280 x 720 presentations.

Hi,I need to record a software simulation using a mobile phone as a source.I know Captivate 9 could do that, but I can't seem to locate the feature anymore on the latest release of Captivate (CC2019 11.5.0.476 on Mac OS 10.14 Mojave and Windows 10)I would prefer to use Captivate than a screencast solution that creates mp4's. Any tips and best practice would be appreciated

I am looking for a way to "shift" multiple closed captions keyframes in the Edit Video Timing Closed Captions view. I need to "shift" multiple CC keyframes exactly 3 min and 9.2 seconds toward the end of the event video in order to insert the additional CC edits that are required  The overhead on this is pretty big if having to redo the closed captions a second time. (Shifting each by hand is actually more time consuming than a comnplete recreation from my experience) Hoping this will not involve an enhancement request to Adobe however if so then perhaps others can join me in this.

My team is getting a critical error that crashes Captivate instantly whenever trying to add a note to a slide for closed captioning for Section 508 compliance. Our IT department has pushed the latest update to our machines but the error persists. This obviously is a work-stoppage issue for us. My first thought is to get Captivate completely removed from my machine and have the new version reinstalled cleanly with the hopes that may resolve the issue. However, I know many programs don't clean out all the crumbs and cobwebs via the typical Uninstall feature in Windows. Are there any additional steps that can be taken to ensure the machine is completely free of Captivate detritus before doing a clean install of the new version?

HelloI have a problem with the video player. I insert a video clip and I adjusted it accordingly to the size i want. In Captivate 2019, it looks like this: It fits perfect in the screen from the tablet. Maybe its a little bit sqeezed, but its ok für me. When I look at the normal preview in Shockwave, it fits. It looks like the next screenshot. Its similar to the view before in captivate. Its ok so.I need to export in HTML5, so i use the preview in HTML5, and it looks like this:In HTML5 the video is more squeezed at the sides and i get black borders. This is not the view as in captivate. What can I do to make the video fit better in HTML5? Is there a setting for this? I tried diffrent skins for the player, but it doesent change the size. Thank you!

Hi Everyone,Here is my set up....I have a slide with column of several buttons (using shapes) on the left and a blank rectangle on the right. When a user clicks a button, information appears in the blank rectangle. When a user clicks a different button, different information appears in the blank rectangle. I'm doing this using states (in order to save myslf from creating a different slide for each information block). So, when user clicks on button 1, state 1 of the blank rectangle displays. When a user clicks on button 2, state 2 of the blank rectangle displays. So far so good. Here's the dilemma...For some of these states/information blocks, I want to add a button or link or something that a user could click that would then display a lightbox with even more information.So, user clicks button 1. State 1 of the blank rectangle displays text. In that text would be a link. The user would click on that link, display a lightbox, and then be able to close it. Is this even possible?

I'm working on a non-responsive project in Captivate 2019. I'd like the learner to be unable to advance until the slide timeline is done. I've done this with hiding and showing a Next button that I've added to the stage, but for this project I want to do it with the playbar Forward button.Is there a way I can hide the playbar, or even just the playbar Forward button, when a slide timeline begins, and then show the playbar or button when the timeline completes? I've looked at slide actions, at Advanced Actions, and I've searched online, but I haven't found a solution yet.

Since we upgraded to Captivate 2017 from Captivate 7, I have noticed my master slides have a trait now which was not present is version 7. Most of our lessons require the addition of 3 clickboxes. In version 7 I would add them in a specic order to the slide and the last one was always on the top of the slide timeline. Now the first one I add is on the top and the next two are added underneath the first one on the timeline. I am dealing with it but can not find what to change to have the clickboxes stack on top of each other in the timeline as I add them in this version of Captivate.

I was so happy to get started again with  360 slide until I uploaded an image that seems to have embeded itself as a background. I can import other 360 but cant see or add hotspots however when I do try I can see them in the timeline but not in the image. I have tried properties and libary but cant find the image anywhere. Every new 360 comes up with the same image as if its a template. You can see top left no image if I add new slide same background appears.

I'm using Cap 11.5 (version 11.5.1.499) on a windows PC. I have gone to my skin editor, Closed Captions, Selected Project, Clicked the overrride all slides checkbox and set my preferences to my font, size, location, etc.  However, in published project, the font size is CHANGING on different slides. WTH?  HELP!!!!!!! Is this a known bug? Is there any workaround? Thanks,  Lori

I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with this project.  For most of the slides, the next and previous buttons work fine, but then towards the end, they won't work on a specific slide.  This slide uses forced navigation. There is another slide in the same project that uses forced navigation as well and that one works fine.   If I remove this slide from the project, then the following slide after this breaks down as well.  and the buttons won't work on that slide either.     

Having issues when trying to Preview or Publish a project using Adobe Captivate 2019 on Windows 10 PC.  Issue initially occured when tried to Publish a project as a Video that was created from a PowerPoint Slide Deck.  Reviewed Slides to ensure no automation was there, and still had issue; however co-worker that still has Win 7 was able to use the same set of slides & Publish to a Video w/o any issues.  As a test, I have even tried opening a Blanket Project, and even with No Data put in the project if I try to Preview from Slide or Publish I get the same error.  Adobe Captivate 2019 is already set-up to run Compatibility Mode for Win 8, and get the same issue.  Please advise whether there is anyway this can be resolved, so that I can successfully use this product.

Hi, New Captivate user here looking for some tips.  If I go to Themes> Theme properties > Edit. My color swatches are listed as color 1,2,3 etc. Is there a preference I can set so they say Title, Sub-title, Text 1, Text 2? Any info is appreciated. 

Hi all I am new to Captivate and have created a number of FMR projects via the software simulation tool.  The issues i am having is that my initail recordings were done on a larger screen, so i resized the projects from 1920 to 1366. After doing this i found that my highlight boxes were now moving in my demo ( from bottom to top and this was not a feature i added) and in some cases they were not aligned to the correct fields i wanted to hightlight. The solution that makes sense to be is to crop the slide so there is no scrolling in the playback, but after searching i have not found a way to do this  Any advice on this would be appreicated  Cheers Neil

Hi, I am looking into how to print a certificate from a slide at the end of the module (HTML5), I have come across a couple of things using javascript, which gives a result as shown below: And also using the print button on a slide (This does not print correctly though, it prints as though it is in the top right corner of the page as shown below) Does anyone know of a better method to print an actual certificate from a slide, as the window.print(); function just does not seem to work in html5 output. Any help on thsi would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Paul

When putting an apostrophe in the string of a variable in an advanced action (as well as the Javascript formatting for a carriage return, e.i. `\r`), it seems like the advanced action will cease functioning. I would like to test someone on typing in correctly this statement:                            "I shouldn't have done that." But currently I can see no way of doing so through advanced actions. I am trying to build without the use of Javascript in my captivate file, help would be much appreciated.

I am working on a project that needed to be done hours ago. I am at my wit's end.  The sound in the project stops playing on several specific slides. It will restart if I open the TOC or turn Closed Captioning on or off.  I have tried:- Deleting preferences- Clearing the cache- Turning off the TOC- Resetting closed captioning preferences- Using a different skin- Deleting and re-adding the sound files- Deleting and re-adding affected slides - Copying all of the slides into a new project NOTHING has worked. I'm pulling out my hair in frustration. Please help- thanks in advance. 

Hi,  I am using Adobe Captivate 2017, publishing to HTML (HTML5) and using Internet Explorer 11.On pages where I use one of the Learning Interaction widgets:  such as glossary or a drop down selection menu, I get a brief flicker of a blank screen.So say I have a series of screens showing a software application that I am teaching the student how to use page 1 just uses a click button interaction(s)page 2 includes a drop down selection box widget (learning interaction)page 3 includes text entry fields and click box interactions.when navigating from page 1 to page 2, or from page 3 to page 2, there is a brief 'jump' showing a blank/white screen before page 2 shows.  The drop down widget works fine, but this 'jump' is ugly and I wonder if I have something set incorrectly/incompatible..  I get the same behavior when going to the glossary page (uses the glossary widget/learning interaction)  - a brief blank screen.Has anyone else experienced this and have any suggest

Captivate 2019 -  Is there a way to edit the mouse points once they have been recorded in a software simulation? I know you can change the shape from a curve to a strait line path but I want to access the points in which it starts and stops.

I have several web pages with embedded YouTube videos that I created in Captivate last year, and they're working fine. Yesterday, I updated one of them (using Captivate 9.0.2.437 and MacOS 10.14.6), and now the YouTube videos do not show up. There is just a big blank area where the video should be. I get the same thing whether I create an HTML5 page and view it in a web browser or use Captivate's Preview function. All other features of the web page appear to be working normally. All the pages I created previously are still working, so this doesn't seem like it's a problem with the YouTube API (like the problem that happened a couple years ago). And it happens even if I take a project that worked before and simply repeat the process of creating the web page for it. Is anyone else having this problem? And does anyone know of a solution?

Can a web object be transparent? I am using survey monkey questions as a web object to collect data from participants using Adobe Captivate 2019.  I need to display the web object on top, but transparent with the frame background.  Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I am in Captivate 9 and windows. I added a drag and drop interaction and everytime I play it, I get a brief white background then it plays as normal. How can I fix this? Angela
