Captivate

Hi, I'm using Captivate 2017. I have used the Text Animation object in my cptx. While previewing, I can see the text effect. But, when I publish the cptx in HTML, the text effect is not visible. The text appears in sequence, one after the other, minus the effect. Is this a normal behavior?Thanks,Rupali Desai

I have a USB headset / microphone that works great for phone calls.  I'm unable to record in Captivate 7, what am I doing wrong?  I was able to record using Captivate 5.5, my old computer and headset / microphone (which was NOT USB), so I'm familiar with the process in Captivate. 

I am developing content for an LMS (Moodle) using Captivate and Dreamweaver.I am using Captivate to provide the wrapper with Scorm interfacing with the LMS.Dreamweaver is used to create a web object coded with Javascript (a lot). The object opens in a window.It's all working to plan with the exception that when activity is exited in the Moodle window, the object window remains open and the object Javascript no longer functions as intended.The issue is that my web object Javascript isn't informed by Moodle that the activity has ended.Is there an event that I can pickup via the Captivate/Rustici Scorm Driver that I can use to trigger the closing of my web object window/tab??I'm having difficulty finding anything suitable.

I have done quite a bit of research on these forums and abroad, and this may have been partly answered already but here goes.For a Blank Project scalable html which resizes (maintaining aspect ratio), is there a setting to align the project to the top? I understand that there will always be a gap on portrait screens but at least if this gap was below the project as oppose to above, since from top to bottom having a gap and then the project is not the best experience. Other than playing with the SCORM's CSS is there a setting in Captivate to achieve this?

Hello,I am working on a sample project in responsive mode and having issues viewing a pdf file after publishing and then running it through phonegap desktop version for testing.Need to know if viewing pdf files in responsive mode works for other people and what options or fixes I can implement.Keeping in mind, that I don't want to use an external url, but instead have it locally stored in the source folder. When user clicks on text or button, the pdf file should open up in a new window on a smartphone or tablet. <<< Does not work, but it works when testing it in desktop mode.

I was wondering, if you publish with both Flash and HTML5 which will the browser use if it can do both? We used to do it in Captivate 9 and HTML5 would go as first choice. But in Captivate 10 Flash is coming first choice. What is supposed to happen and did something change between the two versions?

Hi all! Kind of a wide-ranging question here...I downloaded the trial version of CP on my Mac as I'm hoping the company I work for will purchase it for me because I've used it for a few years (they aren't using an online learning development software at the moment); however, I'm having a lot of problems with it freezing, I can't preview my lesson, I can't get the software simulation to work properly. Are there known issues using a Mac Pro? Any advice on how I can get it to work like it did on my desktop...I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong? I really want to use it but I can't recommend it if I can't get it to work properly. Thanks,Tanya

For buttons in a quiz I've used a Image Button to replace the default button. I've imported my own .png file. It looks fine in the development environment but when I publish a .swf and view it, the image is missing it's right and bottom edge.I've gotten around the problem by recreating the image file with 1 pixel of extra transparent canvas all the way around. This extra transparent pixel might be cut off as well but you can tell because it's transparent.Why is Captivate cutting off the right and bottom edge of my image? What can I do to prevent this? I remember the same problem with Flash several years ago.

Hi, from  today Captivate 7 does noc start. Short Splashscreen-thats it. Try re-install, Clean Registry, everything. Start as Admin, and so on. Nothing helps. Windows 10 Pro. Any Idea??? Thank you, Peter

Hi,When uploading a scorm package from captivate 2017 to moodle, the file opens to a white screen with a buffer wheel and doesn't go any further. This hasn't happened with previous files - using the same configuration - and I am lost for an explanation.I also tried exporting to scorm cloud, and this just hangs on a blank, white page.Preview in browser doesn't work either - though previewing project works ok.Any ideas?Thanks, M

I work for a company that creates e-learning courses for users all across Canada.  Lately the courses we are creating are getting a fatal error message that reads: "A fatal error has occurred, communication with the server has been lost" when viewed in our LMS (Halogen).  Alternatively if they don't get the actual fatal error pop-up they are still getting an error because after completion the course won't register their score and completion status in the LMS. This issues seems to be happening for pretty much all course created in Captivate 2017.  Additionally, course that have been tried and true and created in older versions of Captivate seem to also be having issues now where there were no issues previously.  Please help! I'm relatively new to Captivate and would really appreciate any assistance you can provide in this matter.  It might also be prudent to mention that I seem to be having issues with previewing courses in SCORM Cloud. I have a .cptx presentation that starts out with a few measures of music playing over 2 slides. There is a glitch, or dropped beat, between the first and second slide that I can't get rid of. I also have a few measures at the end that spans two slides, but I don't have the glitch on that end.Has anyone experienced this? If so, were you able to find a fix or at least a workaround?Thanks

I am using Captivate 2017, publishing as HTML5, have slide transitions set to fade. Looks great in preview but once published and played back, white flash between every slide. When i set to No Transition for the slides, there is no issue. Need to have slides with the fade transition. Thanks in advance...

I am trying to create a Presenter module to import into our LMS. When I try to upload the zip file, I get this error message "Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml". I thought Presenter files were SCORM compiant and able to be uploaded into a LMS. Is this not the case? Any ideas/help would  be appreciated.

The following problem seems true of all projects that are based on a template, but I will give just one example:I have a template that already has a value filled in in the "Project Title" field of the Publish dialog. (The value is Quiz Template).When I create a new project based on the template and open the Publish dialog, the project title is initially "Quiz Template". I then change the title to one that is suitable for the actual project and publish it, and save and close the project. However, the next time I reopen the project to republish it, the title has reverted to Quiz Template.Is there a way to make Captivate store the updated project title so I don't have to remember to correct it every time I republish the project?

hi, primary admin Ela Molek see Mucko Zvezdana (user) as normal user of captivate license, but Mucko Zvezdana has in her portal only option to buy Captivate license and not to download it. Why is that? Please help. thank you, Ela

I have recently converted a course to HTML 5 and it includes the Jeopardy Learning interaction. It worked fine when the file was saved as an SWF. The new HTML5 version works perfectly in Chrome, and it also appears to work when I preview in Internet Explorer. However when it is deployed through my LMS the interaction will not work in Internet Explorer. It does work in Chrome. Any suggestions?

I have been learning to use Captivate 2017 on Windows 10 and have begun with a simple responsive project. I wanted a rectangle that was rounded on one end only, and so I manipulated a round-corner rectangle and made the shape desired with relative ease. I was then able to save the custom shape as well. However, whenever I re-open the project, or open a new project,  I see no way to re-use that shape again short of copying and pasting it or saving it again with a different title.Ideas?

I've published to this connect account before and I had just published another file to connect from captivate before I starting getting an error on the next file.Error"Connection Failed. The audio plays and the closed captioning (CC) appears when the CP9 project it played from the desktop.  When the project is hosted on the server random slides do not play the audio or show the CC.

Hi all,i was searching for this issue but didn't found a solution for us. So i writing down here my problem.We think to buy Adobe Captivate 2017 for us. For this reason, we decided to test the 30-days trial version, to see if this Product is the right one and we are not running into problems. Before we will spend our money for the licens.With the 30 trial version we run into some Problems.Adobe Captivate 2017 crashes all the time when we insert some "Objects" or "Text Fields" and changed the Fonts, Colors or other style attributes of these.This issue occures on 3 different Computers. It happens also after a fresh Windows intallation.We started Captivate with "run as administrator". Created an empty Project.Then we inserted some Objects and changed the style attributes of these. Thereupon Captivate crashed randomly with the "fatal error" message.Any idea what is going on ?? Why this happens on all our test computers?Below you find our Computer setup and a dump file from Captivate.Regard

Hi Guys, I've got some pretty outdated captivate scorm packages that I don't want to host in our new LMS, but some staff still need to access them as a resource from time to time. Is there a way to remove the scorm aspect and just host it on a server as a normal webpage instead? I don't have the original captivate projects, so can't republish with scorm disabled. I've tried to unzip and host, but when naviagting to the htm files, it keep throwing up a "Error - unable to acquire LMS API..." message. Any help would be really appreciated!!

Tonight, upon recommendation from my customer who needs video tutorials for software selloff, I downloaded PVE2017 to try the 30day trial to compare it to other screen capture and recording programs.  Sure glad I didn't buy it...After installation, I get a single little pop-up stating:'Insufficient disk space.  Ensure that the disk contains at least 5GB available and try again.'I have a computer running 4 hard drives, the primary drive (C:\) is the only drive with less than 5GB.My secondary SSD has 120GB remaining.  My tertiary SSD has 420GB remaining.  And I have a mass storage platter drive with 1.2TB.The program doesn't even load to the point of allowing me to select an alternative location to do my recording and work.In the days of multiple storage options, can't you at least give customers the ability to select another source, rather than fail outright and not even let the application load?  I would imagine that a company that does so much work with media,

Is there a way to adjust the volume to the same level across all slides in one project? If it can't be done "globally" for the entire project & must be done individually to each slide, how can you ensure consistency in the volume level? BTW the audio was recorded in Captivate to each slide. Thanks much for any assistance ....
