Good morning everyone who may be reading this. I'm exploring the possbility of using Character Animator for a project, but when I load the program, I recieve the following error: "Could not delete the file '\\cslg1.cslg.net\USPLHomeDrv\HDrive\William.Camp\MyDocuments\Adobe\Character Animator\Character Animator Project 4\Ch Data\temp.noindex\complier\Behaviorparambootstrap.js'." After clicking "OK", I am able to continue; however, when I attempt to open a template or puppet from the home page, I recieve another error: "Internal error code: (1109000933:349+8) bad argument #1 to 'Localize' (string expected, got nil)" I'm attempting to use Character Animator for a fairly large animation project coming up; however, if I cannot figure out what is causing the issue, I may have to go with a different program. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Warm Regards, -Billy
Is it possible to record a Lip Sync with phonemes comprised of a cycle of 3 layers? I've currently got them as a trigger but I'd rather automate the process than record the trigger myself as sometimes it doesn't pick up my keys.
Hi guys I finally figured out the culprit behind these bugs that make Character Animator unusable. This issue is common with After Effects and Adobe Animator. If you have anything on Dropbox, it causes issues with the files so they're best saved locally. After Efects files won't save until the file is completely synced, and Character ANimator just doesn't work at all. Hope Adobe fixes this as it's been persistent for the past couple years.
Hi everyone, I’m using Adobe Character Animator as part of my Creative Cloud plan, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to automate a puppet’s arm movements based on imported audio. For example, in Adobe Express, the animation automatically includes lip sync and some body movements (like arm gestures) when audio is added, but it’s limited to two minutes. I’d like to achieve something similar in Character Animator but without manually triggering every arm motion. Is there a way to automate this, or do I need to use manual triggers for the puppet’s arm movements while it talks? Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Is it possible to set up my own .maker files for the Puppet Maker within Character Animator? I'd love to set up some puppets in this way but I can't find any information on how to create my own .maker files.
I'm trying to stream with my puppet, but ACA freezes up when I click away. The Puppet is in OBS via NDI just fine. The "Disable Mercury Output" option is unchecked, but I've fiddled around with checking it I don't know what else to try. It seems so straight forward! Thanks so much!
im trying to use CA(character animator) but the record tab is a all black screen and im very confused i just updated it
Hello everyone,I stumbled upon Ch while looking into character rigging for games. I’m searching for a simple way to create character animations that I can export as frame-by-frame sequences for Godot. My game is top-down (similar to Binding of Isaac, Pokémon, Stardew Valley, Brotato), so I need 4-directional animations (front, back and both sides). Is it possible to achieve this in Adobe Character Animator? I’ve had trouble finding tutorials or breakdowns for creating frame-by-frame animations in 4 directions without using pixel art, so any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated!

I have not used Character Animator much, though it is included in my subscription. This past week or so, I ran updates. While I'm not sure what audio formats were previously supported for pre-recorded audio, but I'm on a Mac and m4a audio isn't supported? Seems like a face-palm moment for the #1 most common audio format on Mac to not be supported. These files are greyed out when selecting "All Supported Formats" and the pulldown only shows AIFF, MP3 and WAV. WTF Adobe?!?! Version 25.0 Build 46 on MacOS 15.3.1 (MacStudio / Apple M1)
I've run into an issue that I haven't experienced before. When I use recorded audio, my lip sync jaw doesn't move, but when I speak using my desktop mic it does. I believe my settings are the same as a previous episode I did where it worked, so no idea why this might be happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!- Mark
Hi everybody! I’m new to character animator and have been working on creating a puppet with 5 facial profiles (LP, LQ, Frontal, RQ, RP) and 3 body profiles (LP, Frontal, RP) in illustrator. When I had my character rigged with less behaviors, things were working well, but as I’ve added a couple of new behaviors (walk, motion library & breathe) along with the LP & RP body profiles, some things aren’t working anymore and I’ve noticed a couple of other quirks with the character. Any help or suggestions to fix these issues or improve the character are much appreciated, thanks! Issues:Head is flying off of the bodyWhen head turns, shoulders and arms are movingHaving Issues with walking behaviorHaving issues with motion libraryEyebrows are barely moving at all only on Left Profile. I have full expression in all of the other 4 facial profiles.A couple of “rigging issues” present on the puppet that I can’t get to the bottom ofI’d like both arms in the frontal body view to be in fro
Good morning I am having issues trying to sync my Character puppet with a Greek MP3 file. My intent is to have the puppet lip sync to the music but when there are no words the puppets mouth still moves. What would be the recommended actions to resolve this. I have tried to use the timeline compute to lip sync scene audio but that does not seem to work.
Hi, I'm using my character as a narrator in a news story, and I will add video B-roll in the background (I do this via the dynamic link to After Effects, and add the video there). As my b-roll switches I want to be able to switch the position of my character. Therefore I have sliced my puppet into shorter sections in Character Animator, and set different x,y positions and scale for the different sections, synced with the B-Roll switch. I would also like the arms (for example) held in a specific position the beginning of each new section. For that I put the arms in the position I want them to be, press record and quickly stop the recording. Then, drag this "Dragger" element in the timeline to be as long as the section. But the problem is that in the first few frames, for some reason the character "moves" into place before taking and holding the position of the arms I want to have as the starter position. See video attached and you will know what I mean, the wrists are mo
I can get my puppet to move body and head but not mouth movement at all. See attached my mouth open and her closed. Thanks
Hi, I have Adobe Animate Pro 2023. Is there supposed to be a toolbar as I don't have one. For example, I've read you can use text but there is no toolbar that would have the text. Thanks
Hi, I'm working on a project and when I tilt the head, the mouth doesn't move with it. I have gone through and search through my tags and groups. I can't seem to find the problem. Can anyone help?
My voice recording won't work even though it's calibrated. It does match head movement.
I know there is a solve - but I have a specific kind of eye that I am drawing for a character. I am starting with the blank template now from pro and going step by step. eyes are proving to be most difficult. My pupils will NOT move with my eyes left, right, up or down. THe pupil is inclusive of BOTH the black center with the white dots to show light reflecting. I haave them grouped together in AI when i am building the puppet. Any thoughts on how i can get my pupils to move with me? Otheriwse eyebrows and blinking are working great.
I feel like this must have been asked 1,000 times, but I have searched and gone through the tutorials and Help Articles, and I feel like i am spinning my wheels. Yikes! Maybe this just isn't cut out for what I was trying to do... but before I give up for now.... Is there a way to make a puppet from a single image by using a template? I was hoping I would be able to import/apply my own fixed image to one of the included puppet templates to get this rolling, then make adjustments, updates, etc from there to make it work with my image. Maybe not....?? (Clearly all new to this.) What is the best way to make a simple puppet from my image? Can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial by chace? Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give! Much appreciated!! Rebekah
Hi,As the subject line states, it is taking about 15+ minutes for Ch to open. It hangs on "Initializing MIDI". This was not an issue before most recent update or two. I do not have a MIDI controller connected. I do have a USB audio device (Scarlet18i20) that has not caused this issue in the past, I've been using it for several years with Ch as well as a camera (GH4) plugged in HDMI>USB webcam cable. Why would the opening process hang on that instance? The caveat: My machine is an enterprise machine, could this be a permissions issue? However, I do not have this issue with any other Adobe application we use with our enterprise account. Thanks in advance for any ideas on what this might be.-Andy
I made a character originally in Illustrator but I was having issues with it and put it into Photoshop. So, I have a Vector version of the character. I made the character at 1080p, without thinking about the fact I was going to have to scale up the character in the scene, so now I have a pixelated version of the character. I optimistically thought I could re-make the character in an 8K photoshop file and switch it out within Character Animator but sadly it didn't work as all the handles and everything stay in their original position. Does anyone have any advice on whether this is possible? Sorry if I've not explained this well. Happy to give any further details if necessary.
I'm working with a character that has three views (left, frontal, right), each in a T-pose by default. In the frontal view, I manually positioned the arms down to create a natural resting pose. When transitioning from the frontal view to a side walk, everything works fine. However, when the character stops walking and returns to the frontal view, it quickly flashes back to a T-pose for a split second before settling into my intended frontal resting pose (arms down). I was also curious if there was a way to reduce the vertial movement on my character. When walking his chest seems to be moving up and down too much.
This erro occured when Opening Ch. It was slow to start with, then I opened my project file and got this error. Anybody got a fix for this?
