I've been folowing Okay's, Creating an Illustrator Puppet tutorial. First let me say, that it is very good and gives a lot of valuable insights along the way. However, I have a quick question about the need for +.I noticed that both in AI and PS files, there are no added +. I was always under the impression that this were needed to give independence. Has this changed? I also noted that sometimes, the crown does not show in the Rig mode, when going back and forth to AI. However, sometimes everything seems fine when checking it out in Record mode. Is this just a cliche?
Hi Fellow Puppeteers. I created this Rockie Racoon character and wanted to breath some life into it without doing a lot of rigging. So I used the "Breath" behavior to animate the chest, the ears and the wiskers. As needed each group mentioned previously was independent (+chest, +ears, +wiskers). I set the Breath behavior controls as shown in the attached image. Also you can play the video at this URL: https://vimeo.com/459501624 If you have any questions, create a reply post. Be well fellow puppeteers, - Platty

Hello, Does anyone know of a way to calibrate or improve the "Compute lip sync take from scene audio" I'm working with a puppet and after syncing the audio the vismeme's are very inaccurate. I have to completely re-do them which is incredibly time consudming. The audio was taken from a Zoom H6 and is clear without any background noise. Thanks in advance!
My character shows up as this now:What did I do to cause this and how can I fix this.
Hello community, I very commonly get this error when working in Character Animator (Beta) It seems like the program can't find the source audio file which I never move. I always have to re-drop the audio in so it can find the original audio clip. Is there any work in progress for this not to happen or is it something on my end I am over looking?
please help if someone can fix it, i am not able to understand how to fix pupils as they are moving out of the eyes when i see in right side of character. also the mouth is not moving with the face although the face turns right side of character
Can Someone please help?? I have a project I have been working on for a month or so for a client. The project was almost done and due out this week. I was in the final phase of production when the program crashed. Then when I tried to restart, It gave me these codes and errors. I can provide a link to files if needed..
Hello guys, I am testing Ch for my degree project. I have a character that is working almost in anything. The issue I am having is that the character is walking, but the wings and the rope (belt) are not moving with the body. To create the model I used the tutorial of "Walker". but still I could not find any tip to rig the objects that are attached to the body. Could you please suggest how I can proceed, because at the moment I tried everything I could by my self and I don't have any success.

Hey! So I am trying to follow this tutorial: https://youtu.be/JOHZlW2e_Ro on animator moving background. However I am struggling a little bit because I cannot find the walk cycle behaviour. (Apparently, in Portuguese, it is called "andar" and i can't manage to find it). It says to give the image the hip function and then give it the walk behaviour but i simply don't see it.
Hi, I recently started using CH 2020 as well as Illustrator 2020 and have been working on a puppet with 6 legs. Thing is, when I added the 6 legs, CH gave me an internal error code and suggested I attempt to index a nil value. I'm not familiar with nil values and where to even look so I tried reducing the leg count to just 2 (one on each side of the puppet)... same issue. Any help would be appreciated!
I've used the swap set previously, but when I set my Frontal layer as default it just kept Frontal visible while continuing to do whatever funky nonsense it was doing by keeping my Quarter position as the default then switching as I turned my head.
Hello Folks! There are frequent jitters in my puppet whenever I use face parameters. Can anyone help in resolving this issue?
When I try to open a project from a local drive, I get error 3.3.1x6. "Unable to open project. [project path///repo.noindex/] If it is located on a server, copy it to a local drive and open it from there." Is there a way to recover this project?
My character when trying to record a replay trigger does this weird bend to his elbow/wrist/arm when transitioning from rest to waving. It looks like the elbow is just flapping around and flipping over. This is the resting position I tried to play around with the settings but still cannot fix this issue.
I am about to start a project that will use Character Animator, AE and Premiere. I am looking to buy an Individual plan rather than a Team plan. I will do 80% of the work but want to hire a couple of freelancers in another country to do some specific clean-up and edit work. They each have their own licensees. My question is (having not yet used CC) is how do I share my ≈ 60 minutes long, potentially large GB file/project with other licensed users? Thanks in advance!
What is the best workaround to be able to have a swap set with arms that go in front of the head and then behind the head?I’ve experimented with make shareable, duplicate etc. nothing seems to work any ideas?Help and thanx.
Hi all, I want to hand-draw the individual frames of my puppet's walk cycle. To achieve this, I can use the cycle layers behaviour and trigger the walk cycle in a swap set (with "standing" and "walking" groups). However, the frame-by-frame animation involves the torso and neck bobbing up and down, so I need to animate the attach point for the puppet's head to match the motion of my walk cycle. I can add the transform behaviour to my puppet's head to manually sync the head position, but I would have to do this in every timeline every time I activate the walk cycle. That's a lot of keyframing, even if it's mostly cut-and-paste. Is there any way to set up the rig to bob the head automatically when the walk cycle is triggered ? Cheers,Harvey.
Hi guys. I'm creating a bunch of human puppets. Setting up my source files I have the arms sticking out at 45 degree angles, which I saw in a bunch of the tutorials. The problem is that I don't actually want the arms sticking out in the performance - I want them hanging straight down. I can sort of do this by holding down the dragger handles down for the entire performance, one hand at a time. But this is annoying and also results in some awkward looking arms. Is there a way to set up a "rest position" with the arms by the sides, or is the rest position always the way the Illustrator document is set up?Also, is there a way to keep the arms from stretching in length? I don't want them to elongate like Mr. Fantastic - I want them to follow the mouse but stop at full arm extension. Thanks!
Hi, I'm a complete beginner on Character Animator and have a couple of questions. First, as above - can I create a character and lip sync it with a pre-recorded video and voice? Second, if I want to create a character with a likeness of a real person, from a photo or video etc, does CA have any tricks to do this or help achieve this, without me having to design a character from scratch? Is it even possible to put a photograph of a face on a character and it then animates somehow? Thanks (btw I have asked Adobe online chat for help but it's been terrible - they either don't respond at all, don't understand anything I ask them, or ignore everything I write and send me links to tutorials that aren't anything to do with what I asked! Anyone else have this trouble?)
