Feature Requests

When lots of layers populate a Layer Control drop menu, it will be good to have icons such as Lock, Visible Shy - will be much quicker to make selections since it's quite often layers that are lumped together have similar names.Also, if I accidentally hit CTRL + SHIFT + W, is there a way to at least get the last comp/timeline I was at, and/or is there a Toll-free Number to call for assistance? If no, then this is not a good shortcut to have cos it's quite disruptive. 

Hi all, a bit of a fewbie posting here.Why can't AE go on native MacOS Fullscreen? Photoshop now does, and I think that would be useful for AE too.Any reason for this being not currently possible? I have the latest version of AE as of March 2025.Is this in the future updates pipeline?TY–Giovanni

Hi,I recently created a template for “Essential Graphics” and I was annoyed that the default thumbnail was a black image (since the animation starts in the black image). When I was looking for a way to change the thumbnail, it was only with difficulty that I realized that the translation of the terms was simply unfavorable:- The button to set a “poster frame” / “thumbnail” is labeled "Veröffentlichungszeit festlegen" (=“Set publish time”).That makes no sense:"Solo-unterstützte Eigenschaften" also is a strange wording that shows entities that can be animated. Maybe you could find a better translation in the next edition 😉 Used Version of After Effects: 25.0.1 Best wishes

"The name of the selected Output Module is already in use" This message pops up when two Comps have the same Output Filename.Has nothing to do with the name of the Output Module - a confusing message. Please make the message more descriptive by supplying the involved Comp name - hard to find in a project with hundreds of Comps.

I didn't know that the you still can't animate the focal lenght until I needed it today.

It would be great for AE to begin supporting normals relighting and STMap texture projection. Fortunately, Normality still works, but the STMapping can get a little jagged, and the AE lights it supports are limited. It seems to be well past the time for AE to support these things, especially as actual-3D workflows are increasingly a part of the program.

Hopeful there will be a way to create a font list of fonts with, say ... more than 3 weights. In this say and age, more often than not, users want a typeface with multiple font weights. Being able to create a font list of such typefaces will be a great boost for productivity, design and world peace.In AE, lots of users could use with a lot more options in the area of Decorative/Symbol fonts. Unfortunately, the number and quality of such typefaces at Adobe Font is largely of poor quality and damning in quantity. It's quite shocking actually.  

I love after effects. It's great. I've been using it for 25 years or more. But the tracker is a sad relic of an ancient, dead civilisation. In resolve you draw a mask, click track and it's done. Click detect face, click track, and it's done. Someone will invariably say just use mocha but thats not what anyone doing this day to day wants, people want to pick a point or draw a mask and click track and it be done, not to open a seperate clumsy, cumbersome interface to do really basic stuff like this, that is one click in other apps, and actually works reliably every time. AE tracker is excrutiatingly slow and unreliably and requires absurd amounts of manual intervention just to track basic things. Please please pretty please, with sugar on top: give us a modern tracker.  It's about time the built in tracker in AE was updated so AE users can experience the warm, magical glow of click track and it's done.(You would think AI would be perfect for this)R.

Like you can across multiple Transform parameters, it would be useful to be able to simultaneously copy and paste multiple Essential Graphics parameters across their values. Currently, this can only be done one parameter at a time.

I don't currently see a way to generate simple 3d primitives such as cone shapes directly inside AE without a plugin... or a way to create new translucent textures and outlines within the app as well. Currently I am experimenting with Spline.Design to achieve what you see in the attached screenshots, but it seems to me that AE should be capable of this kind of simple 3D modeling/texturing. I understand that Substance is being promoted for 3D purposes, but that seems like overkill for my needs and would prefer to stick with AE if possible.

It would be helpful to have an Expression Control effect that was a text input field. Having a place to store and reference text strings other than Text layers' Source Text or Marker comments would be useful when creating expression rigs that use strings to reference parts of layer, group, or effect names.

I'd love to be able to paste raster graphics directly into AE.  It should just make a new footage element and save it to disk. There are so many cases where you need to bring in a ref image, a screenshot, something from an email, a style guide, etc.  Having to launch photoshop, create a new file, paste it in, go through the PITA photoshop save dialogs, say you want to save it locally and not on adobe cloud, navigate to the file, import it, then add it to your comp is a lot of steps/insanity that should be automated.

Hey Community,I don’t like having to search for scripts under the Window tab every time. I’d prefer a search menu similar to the Effects menu, where I can simply type the script name or have them organized by categories. When you have multiple comps open, it can take quite a while to find the right script, especially since you only have those small up and down arrows to navigate.Best regards,Mischel

As a working professional in the motion space, I think having the ability to copy and paste images from Photoshop into after effects compositions/library seamlessly would improve the workflow between the apps. Much like how you can do this in Adobe Animate ( former Flash ), it allows you to paste from Photoshop and Illustrator seamlessly. I often like to import 'reference' frames from approved layouts as guides when I animate and construct my various compositions. This works so well in Adobe Animate, why not in After Effects?  Thank you for your consideration. Adrian

It would be great to be able to open the essential graphics panel with the correct root-comp already selected by right clicking on a pre-comp layer in the timeline, the same way it works from the project window.  It would be much easier and faster to navigate by right-clicking in the layers where you're actually working. It's a hassle to have to use Reveal Layer Source in Project or worse, search for the primary-comp you want in the huge dropdown in the Essential Graphics panel.

Hi,I love to use the repeater and wiggle transform features on my shape layers as a way to simulate how C4d cloners work. With this I often stack multiple wiggle transforms with the wiggles per second set to 0. I do this to mimic the random effector. Then I like to add some fun variation to my strokes by adding a wiggle path with wiggles per second set to 0. I play with the index until I get the desired look I like.   The issues I am running into with this:1. Often when I add a new layer in my timeline, these functions appear to re-index themselves. The index number doesn't actually change, but a new variation is created (Lets call this "False Re-indexing). The look finessing I worked on goes to waste. 2. For objects that I want to animate and have the wiggles per second set to something other than 0... They often do a similar index shifting as I work on my project. Resulting in my shape layers making big jumps at random positions during preview. My hunch is that it

Color Swatches are flat but the love for gradients is not going to stop. So, I'm looking at a way to display a Gradient within a Color Swatch. Should be useful for Gradient Fill and Gradient Stroke in Shape Layers.And as an aside, who decided to name Timeline Markers, Composition Markers???  😄Having Composition Markers is actually a good way for leaving/exchanging notes directly in a Composition; where a Marker Comment may have more contextual relevance than a Timeline Marker. 

Can we please edit Warp Stabilizer's Methods by selecting each Position, Scale, Rotation separately, instead of being forced as a group, because sometimes we only want to change position and rotaion, but not scale, asd it tends to go crazy zooming in and out, which forces us to only use position and manually change rotation. It's really pain and been the only issue of me since the begining. Why can't we select the desired methods, as many as we need?

I just finished a lighting fix I needed to do for an interview shot by someone else.  It went okay, but I feel I could have had more control.  I'll explain. Instead of just having spot lights where you adjust the cone, etc., I'd rather see a more accurate simulation of how film and video lighting is done on a real set.  First of all, if you're trying to fix a video that's already been shot, even if you convert that layer to 3D, it's still going to appear in 3D space as a flat plane, so you can't do things like backlighting, etc.  And if you're fixing lighting, or trying to do something creative with lighting, you need to be able to light objects separately within the frame.  WHAT IF Adobe could use AI to automatically detect and separate all the individual objects in a flat video, then the user could drag each object along a Z axis to determine how far apart those objects were?  Then you could pick virtual lights according to commonly used lights (e.g

Many FBX models come with looping animation. When bringing them into After Effects, it'd be really great, if they could be set to loop. Right now, if you select an animation option, it just plays it once.
