Feature Requests

I noticed on the new beta, if you right-click a clip in the sequence, it now is condensed and many options have been grouped into categories: "video actions", "reveal, edit in", "New", etc.    This is just plain confusing. It should be reverted back to how it was..   [title edited by mod]  

I want duration to be displayed on clips in the timeline

I have a sequence made up of several sub/nested sequences:The timecode of the main sequence starts at 00:00:00:00. When I get feedback from a client saying "remove the shot at 00:07:11:03", I go to that timecode in my main sequence and open the nested sequence. The nested sequence has its own timecode, by default starting at 00:00:00:00, so finding "the shot at 00:07:11:03" becomes meaningless, because that sequence actually starts (in the master sequence) at 00:06:47:05. So, to make things tally up, I change the "start time" of my nested sequence to the same 00:06:47:05, which makes everything super duper. It would be nice if, in the "Start Time..." dialog box, if there was an option to "Inherit Parent Sequence's Timecode" to set the start time to whatever it is in the master sequence. Not sure if this start time should then auto-update if I then change the position of that sequence in the master sequence or not...I haven't thought it through that far yet!

A Remix tool for video would allow you to take a video on the timeline and drag it down to the desired length in order to condense it down to a few key moments/shots. You could use this on complete videos made up of many shots (in which case it would trim out a few shots that define the essence of the video. Or it could be used on a single shot, in which case it would locate the most interesting bit and generate your select.  Good for highlight reels where your source material might be a bunch of 3-4 minute videos, and you just need a key shot or two of each. AI would be able to grab the essence of that video in 1-3 shots, for example. This will quickly allow you to get to a rough cut stage. 

What I'd like to see is a "screen shot" command/kb shortcut.  It would take a screen shot of the program window contents at full video resolution and park it on the clipboard, rather than saving it as a file. It would operate like Snipping Tool but without having to draw the area. Then the screenshot can be pasted into an email, document or slide without having to save and import.

I can open a Premiere Project with software guides/templates like "Social Media 9x16", "Instagram 1x1"," Tiktok 9x16" showing off the 3rd party app interface to make sure we do not cover the hot spots of the infernal app interface.Here's my problem: I am running a social campaign on a timeline. I was just asked to implement changes to upload to TikTok/Instagram/whatever it doesn't matter. There is no way to re-implement the guides and safe spots on this timeline without creating a new "Social Media Template" project entirely. Can we please get a graphical template library to load into any current project? Maybe in the "Graphics and Tiles" menu.... maybe in the "View" -> "Guide TEMPLATES" submenu?

When I put an Adobe Stock track into the timeline to preview it, if I choose to license it, it would be convenient and time saving to have Premiere overwrite it so I don't have to drag in the licensed version on top of the preview version. This is especially useful if I use the retime music feature in the Essential Sound panel. Because as of now I have to start over with retiming the track.

The processing of thumbs at each opening of the project is really distressing. I would like to have the option to save these metadata at disk for faster start.

Can you include dissolve effects in the next version? The fade out and fade in doesn't look as good when moving between clips. Thanks.

The "reveal in project" for a clip feature is great. I want to be able to select *multiple* clips & hit that button, but that's not an option currently.

When displaying bins in free format, the text is too small. I'd like it to be larger. I'd also like the sort order to be corrected.

I would like a function that allows me to repeat the last number I typed by pressing Enter on the numeric keypad.

I would also like a monitor function that allows me to see the contents of the clipboard and add it to the timeline as material. I would also like a function that allows me to copy directly to the source monitor when copying on the timeline.

I originally switched from Avid MC, and I'd like a timeline function for source clips that can be accessed with the push of a button.

Currently, Premiere Pro adds audio tracks to a sequence whenever a file with more audio tracks than the sequence contains is opened in the Source Monitor. So, say I have a sequence with four audio tracks. If I open a clip in the Source Monitor that has 8, four more tracks are automatically added to the Sequence. This is behavior is fine for the auto-generation of NEW sequences, but frustrating in that it modifies an existing sequence with no user input whatsoever. The functionality for adding tracks, as well as source patching and track targeting, works fine, and this behavior is more of a bug than a feature.

In DaVinci Resolve there is the functions "Swap clips towards right/left" so you can easily change the order of clips. This is very useful in the editing process and good for organizing. You can swap clips by command-drag in Premiere Pro but that's very slow and impractical.  Shortcuts for swapping are an essential function, and it’s quite shocking Premiere Pro lacks it. Because this important functionality is missing, I can't really go over to Premiere Pro as the main editing program, DaVinci Resolve simply is so much quicker to edit with.

As a video editor who relies on automation to speed up my workflow, I'm requesting a feature that enables recording and replaying a sequence of actions, similar to "Actions" in Adobe Photoshop. While effect presets and copying attributes are useful for single clips, a macro-style recording tool would be far more efficient for complex, multi-step operations.Problem: Many repetitive editing tasks involve more than just applying effects. For example, a motion graphic might require creating new tracks, moving keyframes, adjusting positions, and applying multiple non-preset-friendly actions. I have a few questions about advanced usage of the transcript window - I use transcripts as an essential part of my work flow for unscripted documentary work; but I find the transcript window to be a bit flaky & unreliable at times, but I can see the potential for how this could be a much more valuable tool for me (and other non-scripted format editors) if there were a few tweaks to the functionality.A big user request from me would be greater flow through & adjustability of transcripts while editing (I edit using multicam clips to group dual record material, and I find that I have to match frame back though a couple of layers of material (edit sequence to multicam clip to source clip) to adjust who's speaking and split transcripted comments). Perhaps there is better functionality that I don't know about.Also, I'd like to be able to teach the AI language model how to pronounce some words, as I find that with both technical jargon and accents (coming from a Land Down Under…), th

If you all haven't used the Facetune app, you're missing out. It's incredible. It can autotrack your footage and with just a few clicks do a great face refinement that includes a ton of stuff (Even more stuff than what DaVinci Resolve can do). It's really good. Adobe should just buy the FaceTune company and build it into Premiere. It seriously is a game changer. No masking/rotoing/tracking, or any other time consuming tasks. Seriously, it's a 10/10 for features and how well it works. It costs like $72/year though, so I canceled after the free trial.It blows my mind that Premiere isn't the leader in all of this. I've gotten used to having separate workspaces, but if I have multiple timeline tabs open, it means I need access to them. Would it be possible to keep all my tabs open between workspaces without making me reopen them every time I change workspaces. Also, they seem to randomly close as you go back and forth. For my workflow, if I open one, I'd like it open until I close it, thank you.

Up to 2024 an obsolete effect. As of 2025 removed from the program Please bring back Bevel Alpha, as there is no alternative for this effect.

We are currently looking at blanking and black frame detection. It'd be great if Premiere could run a black frame / blanking detection tool and drop a marker whereever a black frame or line of black pixels was detected within a sequence. To have a text report exported as well would be the icing on the top! Currently looking at unning Nobeomniscope or QCTools to detect and write reports / add markers where these occur in a video but it'd be simpler if it was all in Premiere Pro. The reason for this is to do with QC before delivery.

The current Metadata effect was a good attempt to accomodate more advanced burn-in needs but it's capabilities are still very undercooked.   Here are some key features that I find missing and really need to be adressed to make this a usable tool for professional work.   Ability to define a font (globally, not per Line) Per Line option for text alignment (left, center, right) Metadata option for Sequence Name   Especially point 2 is incredibly important because you are otherwise forced to place all metadata on the left of the canvas if the string as varying width depending on the source input.  e.g. clip name 1 = C0041.MP4, clip name 2 = B001C001_180327_R1ZA.mov Putting this data center in canvas looks completely off when the longer name displays. Putting it on the right makes the longer name totally cut off.   Hope to see this addressed soon.  

I would love to be able to "lock in time" any clips or tracks on the timeline as we can do in Audition.
