I am unable to open Framemaker 12 file in Framemaker 10. Please suggest some way, if any.
Hi,Thanks in advance. I have a wired challenge in Adobe FrameMaker. I have created a small equation using MathML editor, and when I generate the PDF, the equations appears as half-tone image in the PDF, ie., I can't do any search in the PDF. I want the MathML equations in PDF to be searchable. Here is the document I am referring with a small equation mathml_halftone.pdf - Google DriveAre there any way, can I fix this issue?
Newbee here.Is there a way to save a ditamap from Vasont to a FM book with components and have it create a book with all the topics instead of Chapters? I would like to have one large book with chapter headings but with separate files for all the topics. Is this possible? What I get now is FM book with chapters where the files are combined into chapters.I am using FM 12. I am extracting the ditamap and topic files from Vasont, and want to edit them as FM files and then load them back to Vasont. I do not have the plugin for FM to vasont. Anyone have an idea of the cost of those extensions? Thanks,Bob
Hi All,Has anyone else had problems with FM 12.0.2 crashing every time you exit the program, regardless of whether any files are open? I just installed it on a new Dell Precision M4800 w/ Win7Pro and spent literally all day yesterday on the phone with Adobe Tech Support just to get the 12.0.2 patch installed. I have crushing deadlines this month and cannot lose another day to tech support's lengthy and cumbersome troubleshooting scripts.... Any ideas? Thanks,Rene
I am converting from unstructured to structured XML in DITA.In my conversion table, I have multiple paragraphs tagged with p, like this:P p[otherprops="ProcTitle"] ProcTitleP p[otherprops="Paragaph"] ParagraphI apply my Conversion Table to my Unstructured doc, then save as XML using the Dita1.2 application. The conversion to structured completes fine. The save as xml has errors, but i expected that at this point.I now want to edit the Dita EDD to use my formatting. When I apply the Dita EDD, all the "p" paragraphs convert to Body. How to I configure the EDD to see the difference among the types of p paragraphs? I tried the following command in the EDD, but it was frankly just a guess based on similar configuration I saw in the EDD:Under Body ElementText format rules if context is [otherprops !="ProcTitle"] &nbs
Hello ,I am having problems creating a pdf. When the printing starts it gets to a certain point and then Cannot print some imported images. Click OK to continue. comes up. Acrobat then produces an error log, as follows:%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%%%[Page: 1]%%%%[Page: 2]%%%%[Page: 3]%%%%[Page: 4]%%%%[Page: 5]%%%%[Page: 6]%%%%[Page: 7]%%%%[Page: 8]%%%%[Page: 9]%%%%[Page: 10]%%%%[Page: 11]%%%%[Page: 12]%%%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: exe ]%%Stack:{/@FL --where-- --not-- {--pop-- --end-- --end--} {--pop--} --ifelse--}-dict-%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%The reason it will not print is because I have images that are placed inside a graphic frame that are very large. The only solution is to crop the offending pictures.Does anybody have a more elegant solution?
Can anyone confirm that the Alt+arrow-key and Altt+Shift+arrow-key shortcuts to move selected text items in the arrow directions are no longer working in the latest releases of FM? FM8 still works as expected, but it looks like starting with the new interface in FM9 this was borked. All of the commands and shortcuts are still there in the current Wincmds.cfg file.
Using the Notification/Notify (FA_Note_PostMouseCommand/FA_Note_PostMouseCommand), I can check where in the structure or which element was clicked and if a specific element was clicked, a dialog window opens to perform certain actions. But I would like to have that action occur only on a double click.Any suggestions? Thanks,Trent Schwartz
Hi All,I've built a structured application to read and write a custom XML. The file is opened just fine. However, when saving the XML in FM, some XML attributes appear in the XML twice. For example, in the original XML I have the following:<object_group doc_name="xxx" parsed_by_sym="false">...</object_group>After I save the XML, it looks like this:<object_group doc_name="xxx" parsed_by_sym="false" doc_name="xxx" parsed_by_sym="false">...</object_group>After the XML is saved, FM refuses to re-open it aborting the parsing. If I remove the doubled attributes manually in Notepad, then the XML is opened in FM again.Should I define anything in read/write rules? What am I doing wrong?I'm using an XSD, which I defined in structapp.fm. Thank you very much!
Upgraded ro Frame 11 recently and now I cannot add a new document to Documentum. I get the following error.I still have Frame 10 installed and can check in the document with it, but Frame 11 does not recognize it as a FrameMaker file.
FrameMaker 7.1 on Windows 7 using Acrobat 11 – Need to print many books to single PDF files – Save as PDF works fine – however some books have Registration (Printer) marks – Can turn this off manually but not via code – Tried F_ApiSetInt( FV_SessionId, docId, FP_PDFRegistrationMarks, FV_PDFRegistrationMarksNone) – also tried on session and book – anyone know how this can be done? Or even just changing the default settings for everything – the setting seems to be on the book – I assume I have to make the change and save the book and then save as – the code does not give an error but does not work – any help would be great – thank youI do not have the option to upgrade anything at this time.
In Frame 12, I started with the standard template for the User Guide and have put all chapters in the one file. Then I successfully published to epub and HTML5.Both files show the blue chapter number across the top of the chapter. Both files show the different paragraph style for the first paragraph following each new chapter (now temporarily identified with Heading1)Neither file shows the running headers or footers. Can I change this?Only the HTML5 shows the small caps Character Tag with which the first words of each new chapter are tagged.Advice for correcting the last two points? Thanks in advance.
I have this file, translated from EN to PTBR (Portuguese). The source file links correctly. The target PTBR file has this problem. I checked all the codes, etc. Everything is fine.Problem: When I update the cross-reference, one figure always links to the wrong one. I can manually re-link it, but right away, I see it shows the link was the figure before it.Anyone can shed any light what's causing this problem? Thanks in advance!
One of the product managers has asked me to include tolerances in a spec. sheet. The way I've received the information, in a technical drawing, it looks like this: what's the simplest/most maintainable way of reproducing this in a textual description? I could use superscript for the +0.2, and subscript for the 0, but have no immediate idea how I could then stack the two elements. Thanks in advance for help and tips!(btw – still soldiering on with FM10, if that makes any difference)
Hello, I'm looking for a solution to convert from FM to Word (important: not to RTF). Please, do you know an app (free or not) that allows me to export from FM to Word? I have been a time searching and I can´t find anything solution. I Imagine that what I
Hi all,I have formatted my <prolog> element to display named images frames from the reference page above and below. The intention is to distinguish this area for the editor. However, the lower frame is displayed very unreliable. For example, if I insert a <keywords> element with a single <kexword> child element then it is not displayed. As soon as I add another <keyword> child the line appears. But if I delete this second <keyword>, the line stays visible the way it should have been from begin with. After saving and reloading it usually is not visible either, moving the elements in the prolog around a bit makes the lower line visible again.I could not get this to work reliable, does anybody have a recommendation?Robert
Hi, I get Internal errors 8004, 4867936, 4920984, 4921436 when saving the document. Im using FM 8 on Win 7.Any hints of what I could do (except buying a new FM)?
I use structured FM with tags and formats defined in and inherited from my old company. When I print book, select PDF setup > Bookmarks, select Elements in Bookmark Source, the Dont's include and Include Paragraphs column are all empty.P.S. I read the guide of FM, but still cannot understand what is the use of Thread by Colum and Thread by Text Frame. Thanks in advance.
I recently bought TCS5 after having TCS2, so I'm trying to come up to speed with the new features. One of the features I have seen lauded was the ability to use 3D graphics in FM files which output to PDF could provide an interactive 3D graphic in the PDF. Seems like I remember seeing RJ Jaquez demo'ing that a few years back, so I don't think it's quite a new feature; hopefully a more mature feature by now.Where the proverbial rubber hits the roadOur onsite Mech Engineer uses SolidWorks for all the CAD drawings. He can give me a PDF that does indeed retain all the 3D interactivity when I open it in Acrobat XI. Cool. Sweet. I have CorelDraw Technical Suite X6, because the PTB decided that was more affordable than CS6/AC. I can import a DWG or DXF into DrawX6, but it is a 2D bunch of vector lines; much is lost. So, the shortest path to getting a 3D interactive graphic into FM would be to take the 3D PDF that SolidWorks generates and insert it in an anchored frame in FM as a referenced gr
I make all of my graphics to size and I save them as AI files. When I link them into FrameMaker (11 / DITA1.2), it adds height and width attributes (in POINTS, of all things) based on the native size of the image. That's fine. However, I have had to resize graphics on a few occasions, which means the size attributes cause problems--the graphic frame is now too big or too small. Can I get FrameMaker to NOT put in the height and width attributes, and just always bring a graphic in at its native size?
I am working in FM 11. My document has an TOC, LOT, and LOF. My LOF wouldn't update so I created a new one from scratch but can't seem to get the LOF to show the chapter number in the Figure number nor in the page number. The format should be Figure X-Y Figurename ............ X-Z. Where X is the source chapter, Y is the figure number in that chapter, and Z is the page number (Figure 1-1 Architecture.............1-5 showing the first figure in chapter 1 is on page 5 of chapter 1.) The reference page for the LOT which is correct:Compared to the reference page for the LOF which only shows me consecutive figure numbers and a page numbers without the chapter prefix:I tried to copy the reference page from either the TOC or LOT. My LOF looks like this:
FrameMaker 12: neu eingegeben Worttrennungen werden ignoriert, obwohl die Worte in einem dokumentenspezifischen Wörterbuch richtig eingetragen wurden
We have definited about 12 color for conditional texts in the framemaker files. One of the colors defined needs to be modified. On using View>color>definition, we are able to use the color palate and do the necessary modification, however, the "Change" option becomes inactive. Request a solution for the same.

I'm preparing to publish a huge (2000+ pages) genealogy of the Grinnell family. I did one in 1997 using Frame 5 or 6 (so long ago, I can't remember) that ran about 700 pages (covering about 15,000 names and 4-5,000 marriages), which I had printed on a Xerox DocuTech from three rather large PDF files (due to glue-edge/tape binding restrictions on the DocuTech, I couldn't go any longer than 125 sheets per volume). It was a successful project and we sold many more copies, on demand, than anticipated. Now, I'm doing it again and I want to add more value to the project by offering it not only in paper form, but in one or more electronic forms, such as ePub or Kindle (this new version will contain information on about 40,000 individuals and 15,000 marriages). The only thing keeping me from considering going with Frame for this project is the need to confirm whether or not I can include a FrameMaker-generated index (indexes are absolutely vital for a genealogy) in those electronic formats.
