FrameMaker

It appears that Wash Via Mif does not work in FrameMaker 11 at the book level. It creates a TMB file and apparently stops. It leaves the TMB file open. I've even had FrameMaker crash trying to wash via mif for a book. Very frustrating. What's the workaround?I have a book with conditional text that crashes on a regular basis. Adobe told me to Wash Via Mif to resolve; however, that's not working. Any other ideas?

FrameMaker 7.2When I import graphics into a table (one small picture per cell), the padding is about 2,2 mm on each side. I would like it to be 1 mm on each side. Now I have to select the imported graphic, copy the height, select the frame, paste the height I just copied and then add 2 mm. Would be so much easier if I could, once and for all, adjust the padding to 1 mm.Lena, Sweden

I've applied the "Go to URL" hypertext link to a few words, but Framemaker 11 is applying the link to the entire paragraph. This is a consistent issue across many FM 11 files. Two other FM 11 users have taken my same file into their FM 11 and don't have this problem. How can I fix this? Thanks, Terri

I have a strange issue with Framemaker, it does not show formulas, I tried to uninstall, clean the registry and reinstall, I tried to reinstall fonts… Nothing happens. By the other hand, the same issue is happening with FM 10 and 11. Please note I applied the latest FM9 patch (p255) and this does not fix the issue. I hope anyone could lend me a hand.Thanks.

I am working in unstructured FrameMaker 10, and I have several cross-references that contain a registered trademark symbol. I have created a character tag specifically for the superscript. Everything works fine until I use the Update Book function. This function causes the superscript in the cross-references to be removed. I have to go back an update each cross-reference or chapter individually. Anyone have an idea how these can be updated from the book level without losing the superscripts? The table of contents is unaffected and shows the superscript after automatic updating. Thanks!

My script goes through all files in a book to find changebars. It works fine except when it tries to process two very large FrameMaker files, each one being almost 600 pages long. When I try to run one of these large files separately, it fails by not producing any output in the separate changes file into which I am pasting changed sections. There are changebars in the large file but nothing happens.But if I cut out about 100 pages from the file, then the script works and produces output in the changes file. I have watched the memory usage with Windows Task Manager when I run the full large file and it does not appear to be running out of memory.Any idea what might be causing this?Thanks,Mark

Why does FrameMaker 12 crash sometimes when saving a file to PDF? Had this trouble with FM 11, too.

Has anyone had any trouble saving as xml in FM12? Using the same structured applications that have worked through framemaker 8, 9, 10 and 11 we now get a crash in Framemaker 12.The crash doesn't seem to be in our IO client. The last notification we receive is: notification [13] sparam [TryAlternativeExtensions 0]Has Framemaker 12 changed anything in this area? regards,   Colin Clark

My script needs a Framemaker template file in creating a new file. I've made it work by hard-coding the path to the template in the script:sFilename = "C:\\Users\\gisteppen\\Desktop\\fm change bars\\dev\\changes-template.fm";I want to make this easy to distribute. I want the script to look for this template file in whatever directory the script resides in, but I find it won't work if I just put the name of the template without the path like this:sFilename = "changes-template.fm";Is there a way to get the current directory where the script is from the file system? Then I could construct the absolute path that Fm seems to need.Or maybe there is a better way to go about this?Thanks,Mark

My .book file has several chapters plus a TOC and an IX. Everything is formatted with the Letter (8.5 x 11) page size. I've saved the book to PDF several times and everything worked fine.Today, when I save to PDF, my TOC and IX files are suddenly coming out 7.5 x 9, although their setting for "Letter" page size have not changed. They do this within the book and also as individual files.The only thing I have changed today is the size of a graphic frame on the master page of the title page--a completely separate file from the TOC and IX.I have checked the page layout settings of all the template files in my C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11 folder, and everything is still set to the usual Letter size.How do I fix this, and more importantly, what caused it in the first place?

I installed a group of adobe fonts bought in 2002 in Windows 8.1 by clicking every .PFM file and clicking on the install button. Everything seems fine. According to the Microsoft support knowledge base, the .PFM file should be in the windows-->fonts directory. And they are at the right place. Each font comes with two files with different  file extension : a .PFM and a .PFB file extension but I cannot see the .PFB files. Is it normal ?The question : why my fonts look so blurry on the screen, I simply cannot work.Thank you.

I'm iterating through the Pgf objects in a flow, and for each one I look for table anchors. I find the table anchor, then what do I do to access its Tbl object and do things with it? I'm just trying to find out if there are any changebars in the table. Can I tag sections of a document and print/create separate document with only tagged sections?

I've been working with an FM 11 book and chapter files for about 2 months. Within the last two days, I suddenly cannot print the book any more. Selecting File > Print Book... and the only thing that happens is the files in the book are selected/highlighted and I see a Pages: message at the bottom of the book window with the page ranges from each file listed (e.g., Pages: 1 - 2, i - x, 1 - 16,....)As far as I know, I haven't changed any settings. I've been printing the book this way for weeks. Now... nothing. I have been able to use File > Save as PDF...Thoughts or help, please? I've Googled and searched this forum, but have not found an answer. My company uses SharePoint for our intranet. I would like to see Frame work seamlessly in SharePoint. Frame needs some sort of dialog box or option to "save to SharePoint" or something like that. I suggest the new Word 2007 format for a dialog that works with SharePoint, Documentum, or whatever and makes it easy to save to a network without drilling down to multiple levels on a dialog box.

I'm pasting several Pgf objects at once into a file (a changes file of sections containing changebars), in the main text flow. I want a divider line to go at the end of each pasted section, so I try to insert one after the paste operation. But instead of a line between each section, all lines are added at the end of the file, after all the sections. So if there are 3 pasted sections, at the end of the file are three lines. Is there any way to determine which files have graphics imported by reference vs copy into document? I have MANY MANY files that I ALWAYS want to have the graphics copied to document becauseI tend to move my graphics. I accidentally used the copy by reference to some files. I know that if the graphic is moved and you open the file the graphics is grayed out. Is there any easier way to determine which files have the graphics linked instead of embedded?

I have been trial version 4 before .. and now downloaded the trial version 5 ... but can not start it because I get the following error message: Validate license at Pre-Chrome time. The Adobe Application Manager will not start... and I get the error message, mentioned above, when I start the Adobe Support Adviser. And now I do not really know what to do! Please help me someone!

My computer crashed and has been repaired, but no software. I desperately need to get back with Framemaker 10 so I can re-open my business. I have the license number but no clue about where to go to reinstall this program. Joyce

I want to insert a paragraph with something like a line, to separate hunks of text I am pasting into a document. I see no obvious way to do this. I see no AddPgf() function, for example. Hi, I need to insert the notequal symbol in my FM 8 document. The character_sets.pdf file at the installation directory mentions 0185 as the ansi no. and ctrl+q9 as the keyboard sequence for adding the symbol but neither of these is working for me. Using 0185 ansi number is adding some other symbol. Is it that the ansi no. given there is incorrect? Thanks

HiMy setup: FM11; Framescript 5.2 (5.2R1p251); Windows 7FM11 is working fine ... but when l use FrameScript, the script runs OK until the end, then FM hangs for ages.Eventually the FM file reopens but cannot be saved, scrolled .... and sometimes even shows only blank pages!!Above applies to a file in a book, or a standalone file.Tried an uninstall/reinstall of FrameScript but problem persists 😞Anyone know a solution/workaround?Would really appreciate any help!!Mervyn[Thread moved to FrameMaker Scripting Forum by moderator]

I'm running FrameMaker 11.0.2.384. When I choose Add/List of Paragraphs and include all paragraphs tagged as "RD-RefDocs" the list generates, but it is not complete. I know there is content tagged as RD-RefDocs that doesn't show up in the list. About half of the tagged content shows up. I do have Create Hypertext Links checked when running the LOP. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!
