FrameMaker

I have an account with a company and a personal profile.The company profile has an Creative Cloud subsription while the personal one has the subsription for Framemaker. Now I want to start Framemaker on my PC, yet I can not choose a profile during the startup so it seems to select automatically the company profile and brings up the message that I can only start a test subrsiption for 30 days or end Framemaker.How can I change the profile for Framemaker?

I create many cross-refs in my documents but for these references to be useful they should be in some way enforced on the end-users with their corresponding buttons on the acrobat reader (or other pdf readers). People usually do not know that these buttons do exist. My question is if there is a way to enforce the display of these buttons when creating pdf outputs from an FM project.

In the UI of FM the flow is reported as A That's the cause of my problems reported in this post. → I could recover from this strange situation by Create a new document portrait Import all styles from the existing Copy all contents of flow A to the new doc   But the question remains: how this property can disappear - at least for the script.

Dear friends, Again I need your sharp eyes. I am creating a service manual for a product. I want the user to click on the 3D view to exploded it and then click on the part to find more detailed information about the part. Following the instructions on page 386 of the Adobe Framemaker User Guide I am getting the following dialog window: "The document does not have a multimedia or 3D object for adding links." Please let me know any additional information needed to help solve this issues. Thank you.

Hi all!In my current work, I use unstructured FrameMaker. Of course, I know that the developer's site has a document with a complete description of the program («Using Adobe FrameMaker»).I have never worked with structured documents and the manufacturer's tutorial is difficult for me to understand.Can anyone recommend a Structured FrameMaker tutorial for a beginner (for a quick start)? Thanks!Igor

This is baffling me. I have several tables in the book I'm working on, and most of them are fine. There are, however, a handful which either had no outer "bottom" rule  at all, or it was present when viewing the FM file, but saving, printing, or publishing as PDF results in those rules disappearing. I used Custom Cell Ruling and Applied Ruling style "From Table" and the frame rule appeared on screen, but still won't show up in the print PDF. Any ideas?

We use Structured FrameMaker with a custom EDD (no DITA). All our documents are in .fm format (not XML). We produce all our materials to PDF, which has been working great and we don't want to change any of that. Some of our content is also made available via our LMS. To retain the formatting, the content is rekeyed in the LMS platform in plain ("simple") HTML format.  For example, the following content in FrameMaker:is rekeyed in the LMS in HTML:We're investigating whether it is posible to export the content from FM into "simple" HTML so that we can copy and paste the raw HTML into our LMS. We tried using the Basic HTML option from the Publish pod, but found that it contained a lot more than we need and would require a lot of "clearn-up" for it to be usable for our purpose. Any suggestions from the community how we could achieve a "cleaner" HTML output without going down the XML/DITA route?

Back in 2016, Thomas Aldous did a series of webinars on moving unstructured FM content to XML. The links provided on his site (http://tmaldous.com/2016/02/14/7-part-e-seminar-series-unstructured-to-xml-framemaker-10-instructional-series/) take me to a meetus.adobeevents.com page that says I have to register to view the recording, but I'm not able to register as "the event is over".   Does anyone know if access to these webinars is still available? I very much want to watch them.

I am importing a Word docx file which has a lot of cross references built using Words book mark feature. According to FrameMakers documentation I should be able to import the text and have FrameMaker convert Words cross references to FrameMaker cross references. But what I get is this mishmash which looks really strange. What am I missing? Does the feature work?FrameMaker 2020 - Word docx 2016

FrameMaker 2020 (16.0.4) + DITA 1.3 + EDDMy client likes using a specific symbol in the menucascade elements. The definition is in the uicontrol element. Working in the EDD, I cannot make the symbol work. I suspect now that the symbol is not in the font used in the book, so I'd have to somehow indicate that the symbol font needs to be included in the document.I've tried pasting from the Windows Character Map as text, rich text, and unicode. When that didn't work, I created a variable with the character code (U+0AE) but that didn't work either.

Not long ago I came across a document that describes all the inner workings of reference pages - structure, syntax, etc. Can't find it again - anyone know about it?

Hi,I am using FrameMaker version 16.04 and am wondering how to change text in a book's master page. Specifically it's ccopyright information that needs to be updated. My company recently merged with a bigger company and they want me to download Framemaker 19 to be compatible with the rest of the new department. I was running an older Framemaker version. I have a new computer with Windows 10 21H1 installed 8/21/21. The company got me a license for Framemaker 19 through a reseller--a company called Connections. Nobody could tell me how to actually download Framemaker including all the Adobe help screens. Finally, an Adobe chat person got me to a page where I downloaded a file without having to put in a credit card number (the license was already paid for). I downloaded this file: Framemaker_15_x64_LREFDJ.zip.I ran this file and the installer quickly stopped with this message: "Your browser or operating system is no longer supported. Afternoon,I have an anchored frame set to run into paragraphs on a paragraph style that is set to 'Across All Columns and Side Head'.It works as expected until there is a line with paragraph style set to 'Side Head' and the next to 'In All Columns'. See the image attached.Is there a way to make this frame run into these paragraph styles? Cheers

When updating a book FM is altering smart quotes to straight quotes in the generated index even though smart quotes is enabled in text options.

Hey CommunityI have the problem that when opening an existing xml file, the cross references are gone. I can select the cross-reference, save it and it can be seen in the structure view and in the text. After closing the xml file and opening it again, the cross-reference is gone. The xml is saved as a ditamap. I have FrameMaker 2019 version 16.0.4.1062 and Windows version 10.   Many thank's you for your help.Dorotea 

Problem Description: To create the XML files, we use the original template from DITA task 1.3. The method that we used in FrameMaker 2019 (“File>Import>File”) does not allow us to insert files in MP4 format, because it generates an “object” tag instead of “image”: The problem with the "object" tag is that it outputs a different line when "image" doesn't. Does anyone know a solution for this?

In my FM19 document I have a table with the same width as the FM page (same as the pdf ouput.)But in the html5 output, the table has a fixed width too. This looks weird, especially when the browser window is much wider. Can I somehow make the table with dynamic, so it always fits the page width? 

Hello all,If I export the element catalog as an EDD from a structured document, I find that PgfBoxColor is not included in the resulting EDD, even though it exists in the original document's element definitions.This means that the sequence: Open a structured document;Export element catalog as EDD (Structure | EDD | Export Element Catalog as EDD, or Esc  f D X);Save the resulting EDD;Import new EDD into original document.…changes the formatting of the document, which should not happen. I am using a customised EDD template. That is, I have replaced the file fminit/fmstruct/elemcat with a file containing Lynne Price's Meta-EDD (modified to support elements added in recent versions of FrameMaker, among other changes). I thought that this might have something to do with it, but replacing elemcat with the original installed copy produces the same result. Has anyone else seen this behaviour, or is anyone able to replicate what I'm seeing? Thanks very much. J
