When I export all stories from my InDesign file I don't always generate an .icma file. Should there always be an .icma file? I don't understand why it happens sometimes and not other times. Also, can editors work in either the .icml or the .icma? Sometimes they tell me that without the .icma they can't see the text file to edit. Thanks for any clarification you can give on this.
I recently picked up a new laptop, it's great, it has everything I need...except InCopy refuses to display correctly. The application opens but instead of a command bar at the top or a copyfit info panel at the bottom, all I get is blank grey panels. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, nothing makes it display properly.I've seen a couple of forum posts about removing preferences folders, etc. but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Here's what I'm seeing:If anybody else out there has seen this and knows how to fix it, I would appreciate the help. Many thanks.
is Lightroom Classic CC 7.1 still supported? If not which version is current?
Is Extension Manager CC 7.3.2 supported or end of support?
I need to know if Adobe InCopy CC 9.0 (13.x) is end of support. I'd like to know if there is a web page with product end of support/life/retirement for Adobe software versions.
I have a document open in InCopy, and I don't see any option to Save As InCopy Template. according to https://helpx.adobe.com/incopy/using/saving-exporting.html#incopy_file_types Template files (.icmt) Templates are useful starting points for stand-alone documents, because you can preset them with page size dimensions, text area dimensions, styles (paragraph and character), XML tags, swatches, pretagged sample content, and so on. Template files open as “Untitled” documents and display content and styles, but no page geometry (layout information from an InDesign document). This file type appears as InCopy Template in the Save As dialog box.
I can make several changes in InCopy before I get a pop-up that says the file has been changed. "Checking out the content will automatically update to the latest version. Do you want to continue?" If I hit yes, the text disappears and I get another pop-up that says "This is not a valid InDesign Interchange document." Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
Hello Adobe In adobe indesign I have chosen a template from adobe so i did not have to make one myself for this project, now I am dutch so for my spelling I have chosen Netherlands spelling but every time in klik on the dictionary it automaticly back to english. How can i keep my dictionary in dutch ???I choose NL every time but it gets bach on english every time !
I recently noticed that spell check isn't doing anything in InCopy 2020 v15.0.2. When I select Start with the spell check dialog box open, it immediately says "spell check complete" without flagging anything, when previously it would flag completely normal words and definitely at least people's names. I've seen a few threads from a year or two ago about spell check not working in InDesign, but there's very little support for InCopy-only users from what I can tell. I introduced a spelling error and it didn't catch it, and I turned dynamic spelling on and company names and last names aren't flagged (and they aren't in my user dictionary either). I've turned spell check on and off in Preferences with files open and not open. The last step is uninstalling and reinstalling, which isn't ideal. Why did this just stop working and how can we get it turned back on? This is a mandatory tool my entire team uses every day, so it's unacceptable that it doesn't work.
I'm learninginCopy. Is there a pages panel like there is in inDesign? I've been searching for about a half an hour and haven't yet found it. Thanks in advance to all for any info.
My Incopy and Indesign Menu for adding Notes is greyed out and I cannot add any notes. I have tried looking for tutorials and cannot work out why. Maybe its something to do with my export settings?
Hello, I have an InDesign document with assigments for InCopy editing. If I update the assigments in the InDesign, and I save the file, can I delete the assigments from the inDesign? Is it safe? Thank you for your answer.
Hi. I need InCopy for my job, which I desperately do not want to lose.A while back I was having issues syncing it with Universal Type Client, so I uninstalled UTC, WoodWing, and InCopy. Now, when I try to to reinstall InCopy, nothing works. The installer runs for 15 seconds or so, and then terminates. It seems to be the exact same issue this guy is having (I wish he was active on reddit earlier than 2 years ago, but then, nobody helped him either, did they?): https://www.reddit.com/r/illustrator/comments/2a7eax/illustrator_cc_wont_install_right/The version of InCopy in the file is 2014. It absolutely has to be 2014, this is non-negotiable for my job.In the log file, I get several variations of this error:| | | 4360 | DR013: Check for Registry permissions (RegistryDeleteV2 - error: 13)(Seq 351)03/20/20 14:10:01:956 | [WARN] | | OOBE | DE | | | | 4360 | DW063: ARKCmdFS.dll:failed for command RegistryDeleteV2 - error: 0(Seq 351)03/20/20 14:10:01:980 | [ERROR] | | OOBE | DE |I have tr
I have been working with InCopy for a number of years now and we have been having a lot of trouble lately. Usually, issues are something like an image is not updating on one of my editor's computers. But recently we have been having issues with my Indesign edits not registering on my Editor's computer. I Create the document in InDesign and Insert the copy for editing in InCopy. He makes the edits which appear on my document but once I have made adjustments on my end, assignments cease to update for him. We are left in a situation where I am having to strip the whole document down and start again, over and over. This has become much more common over the last few months and people are really starting to get frustrated. I checked his version of InCopy and he was running 2019. I am running the 2020 version. I made sure we updated his version but that did not solve anything. We are running our files off of a network, Windows server 16. I have gone through the message bo
I normally use InCopy on a large PC desktop monitor. My employer just issued me a much smaller laptop to use if I have to work at home. For some reason, the buttons on the toolbars shift to the right each time I open IC on the laptop. After several close/reopens, several of my toolbars appear to have no buttons. This issues seems to affect all toolbars that can be toggled in the Window menu. A few toolbars will always show up correctly if they are turned into buttons on the left or right side of the window. These also correctly resize if I pull out from immediately under the menu bar and then snap them back. However, certain toolbars don't respond to these fixes. Unresponsive toolbars include: Command Bar, Galley & Story Appearance, and Type & Tables. These all share the common element of not being designed to function as buttons at the sides of the screen. Any ideas as to how to make all the toolbars display correctly?
Hi We're outsourcing some design work but keeping the copy inhouse. Ordinarially, when we do it all in house its a really easy and seemless process for design and copy to work together as we're on one server. As far as I can see, if people aren't on the same server, the way around this is to package up articles and email them over, then they edit and email them back? It doesn't seem very efficient - is there a way they can be uploaded to, worked from and then saved all while on the document cloud which would sync back to the InDesign file? Any help would be appreciated 🙂 Thank you
Hello! I work for an advertising agency and we use InDesign and work together with a client who makes their changes in InCopy. But it seems like the most essential feature is not working properly. We want to work simultaneous at the project, but the "check out" function is not updating between InDesing and InCopy which leads to the fact that both users can edit the same textframe or pictures and overwrite themself. We are all using the lastest Updates of InDesign/InCopy 2020 and our files are all in a shared Creative Cloud folder. Normally we work on Macs and our Client on Windows. But we tested all combinations (Mac-Mac, Mac-Windows, Windows-Windows) and it seems nothing is working. We spoke to the support, but they haven't found a solution yet... Thanks in advanceLars
If InDesign is installed on Windows of layout designer, and InCopy is installed on Mac of editor, will this work?
I have a problem that I can't seem to resolve. We have a publishing team that is using InCopy for editing articles. Each user has their own color so we can see who has done what to the article. All these show up for me, but one. One user who's color is yellow, shows up as my color and it also says I made those changes (which I did not). I've upgraded my InCopy. I've upgraded his InCopy (15.0.2). I changed my color. What am I missing? A related issue is that we change the tracking color for a different user and no mater what color we change it to, it comes up as green. What are we missing? Appreciate any help. This is getting frustrating.
Hi everyone, I've always associated InCopy with magazine, text book, or newspaper workflows. For book production, since we have longer production deadlines and is more of a linear workflow (my turn, your turn), InCopy has not been appealing. I'm taking another look to see if things have changed and see if InCopy has gotten upgraded enough to make it work in book production. I also see that the last version was in 2018. We are in Adobe InDesign 2019 and soon to be 2020. Are there any concerns there? Also, if someone can share their good or bad experiences using InCopy in book production that would be great. Thank you. Nelson
We discovered an issue after updating inDesign to 2020. When a templated word file (from an editor who is working on PC) is brought into inDesign 2020 (on Mac Catalina and Mojave iOS, we tried both) we are unable to export out the inCopy assignments properly. It takes an unusually long time to export and then the editor is getting errors like “Unclosed Token” or when we try to open it just spins until the application stops responding. The incopy files that are being exported are 10x as large as they normally are. When we try to save the indesign files as idmls to open in older versions of inDesign the export gets stuck at 33% and cannot finish. Therefore work that was done in 2020 must be redone in 2019 in order for the editors work with us.This issue is not occurring when we get icml files directly, only files from Word. We have figured out that a workaround for now is to use Indesign 2019 from the beginning of the workflow when we have to use Word documents. Is this a known issue? Is
Windows 10 64 bit InCopy and InDesign 15.0.1I work on creating product manuals in InDesign. I then have to export the text frames and graphics into InCopy assignment files. These get zipped up and sent out to a few translation companies. After a company translates these, they zip them back up and send them back to me where I link them back up to a copy of the InDesign file, which has the language name appended into the file name to distiunguish it from the orginal English version. I recently got a Japanese translation back, but the InCopy file names have been altered. Here's an example of how a file name reads when I generate the InC: itm_ref1_Japanese-初級4フルプログ When I get it back, the same file looks like this: itm_ref1_Japanese-τ▓╛τ┤ó.icml This happens whether the translator is on Windows or a Mac. They are on the same version of InCopy as I am. I'm using the Noto Sans CJK jp regular for the typeface. The translator uses Kozuka Mincho PR6N.Anyone know what's c

Hello, I work with the latest 2019 version of InCopy and I would like to know if I can send my text correction work to customers who instead paginate with the version of Indesign 2018. Is there compatibility or the two different versions of InCopy and InDesign could they create problems?
InCopy CC 2019, Windows 10 64 bitI recently received InCopy assignment files that I need to "reverse engineer" into InDesign. The InCopy files consists of a single .icma assignment file and approximately 1,100 .icml files - text and graphics. How can I output these from InCopy so that InDesign can open it with the layout preserved? I thought the File > Package > Return for InDesign feature would sort this out, but it's greyed out.
