Opening a Package in InCopy from different clients (that added a Layer to a Assignment) or the .icma file results in many "Object is Locked" messages and after that InCopy crashes. We can repeat this over and over with different documents.Nothing is locked, no Layer is Locked.Thought I ask here as it is hell today for us..Any thoughts??? Hi gang, When you export text from InCopy .icml files, AND the text has embedded NOTES within it; do the notes survive an export to RTF? Do embedded NOTES become RTF comments/annotations? Will the notes be in the RTF file when opened in Word? My test suggests not; but maybe I'm doing it wrong!
PROJECT: A 300+ page book that has a few images/graphics but is mostly text.SYSTEM: We are all using CC versions of InDesign and InCopy (latest) All are on PC.USE CASE: I am designer. I laid out the book chapters as separate stories because (a) the book is extensively referenced and we wanted to use chapter-based endnotes, and (b) so the author and editor could both work on sections of the book at the same time. Both of the below issues happen from local files on my own computer and are not related to sharing. ISSUE #1 - One story, the "Intro", has no graphics or image inserts, but does have endnotes. Worked fine for a while but then it began throwing error when we try to check-out this story, InCopy indicating that there is a linked file which has not been added (and must be) to the Assignment. There is no drama when checking-out in InDesign. I have tried removing the Assignment, then removing the link-files, then deleting the content files from the folder and rebuilding assignme
Hi Adobe Support, In InCopy's Galley mode, when I have "Show Changes" on, some of the lines of the copy will break into another line when there isn't a real line break in the document. When Hide Changes is on, it previews fine. Why does InCopy preview a break here? Please see the image below. Thanks, Roland
The layout includes a colored footer at the bottom of the page. When I add text using an assignment in InCopy, the text overflows onto the colored footer. Am I able to scale the text box so this doesn't happen? Or does my designer need to do that using InDesign and then send me an updated assignment?
Has the layout mode feature changed in InCopy? When I open an assignment file in InCopy and go to Layout mode a one column page of text appears. No layout like I'm used to. Is this a bug? This is happening on all files and across multiple people in the department.
Vielen Dank
For the life of me, I can't figure out why InCopy keeps un-ticking my Use Typographer's Quotes box in Preferences/Type every single time I reopen a file! Can anyone help me? I'm not turning it off with a shortcut, or any other weird thing. It just shuts off by itself.
My designer has InDesign CS6. I'd like to install a compatible version of InCopy on my Windows 7 64 bit PC in order to continue working with her. Can someone tell me how I can get hold of this version of InCopy? Thanks!
CC 2019 and CC 2018 are throwing the message: An error occurred opening the package file. Files that had zero issues opening in the past. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Restarted the computer. It's not just mine, it's happening to my editor and my managing editor.Anyone know what's going on?
I know this is probably no use to the average InDesign user, but me and my editorial team are seeing the issue in InCopy as well. I've tried everything suggested in this thread to no avail. If anybody has any suggestions, or if a solution has since been found, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.{Branched and renamed by MOD}
Can anyone tell me, does InCopy CC 13.1 have a full screen mode? I've looked everywhere I could think of but haven't found it.
Is there anyway to take an InCopy file and make it into a pdf file? I need to email this book to an editor but he is unable to access InCopy. How can I do this without having to rewrite the entire thing? Please help!
Here's my problem. I open the .icma file, which is stored on the server. It opens in InCopy just fine. I check out all content, make a few changes, then do "Save All Content." When I do this, I get an error saying "The following content could not be saved. The files could be locked or you may not have permission to change them." The file appears to save, but then I am unable to check in any of the content. I've restarted InCopy and my computer, and still have the same problem. Indeed, after restarting my computer and opening the .icma file, all the content was marked as check out—by me—with the line through the pencil icon. I am the only one working with these InCopy files; the designer does not have the corresponding InDesign file open.
Since the updating to InCopy CC 2015, I can no longer view past the first page of a document in layout view. (Previously, the icon in the bottom right of the page would be a red box with a white arrow, indicating runover; not the plus sign one usually sees in InDesign runover.)Does anyone know of a fix? Or is the new behavior of InCopy CC 2015?
Very simple. How do you put a carriage feed, line feed, lead, extra space, whatever you want to cal it between lines in Adobe Ic? It should not be that hard! Every other word program out there simply has it at the top of the page to select. I can find it nowhere, and writing a book..well, we double-space for the viewers reading comfort. It makes for less printed material, but that is what everyone is accustomed to now. Someone must know how to do this. I have figured out the rest of it. ...and it ain't "intuitively obvious." -Bill
I have a user who is working on text in InCopy, he will make some edits and then check them in, then a little later (as short as a couple of minutes) he will come back to make another edit and it will insist that he needs to update even though no one else has looked at that file in a week. This was mostly just an annoyance as the update would run and no new edits would come with it and he would just keep going about his work, but yesterday it destroyed some of his edits on the update reverting to his previous check in. Any ideas on what would be causing this?
I am working with multiple files that are often versions of one another. Rather than starting from scratch on some that are very similar, I unlink the assignments of one file and do a "save as" to create the new file, then create new assignments in the new folder. This works fine, but each time I open the file, I get the message "One or more assignment files cannot be found...". The new assignment files are there, are linked and work fine. Anyone know how to clear out the file's memory of the old assignment links?
Hello,New to forum, and Adobe in general.A few weeks ago I added some of the Adobe CC programs to this laptop. This morning I logged in several times, but have been unable to get any of my selections to download. I thought it might be my internet security app, so I turned it off, but that didn't change anything. I am using a Acer Aspire R7 with Windows 10.If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated.Thank You
Text sections are wrapped differently in InDesign and inCopy. After inserting a flush space the wrapping is correct:The Paragraph Style has a Hyphen Limit of 4 hyphens, Hyphenation Zone is 5mm, Language Deutsch 2006 Rechtschreibreform, Justification is Adobe Single-line Composer, Full Justify.CS6, CC 2018 and CC 2019
I have track changes turned on, I can see the tracked change, but I can't see which user made the change. Anyway to identify who is making which changes?
Does Adobe have any platform like Behance? to publish content from Incopy or InDesign?
We have products at my corporation that require the same content but different size documents requiring different font sizes, leading and tracking. Is there a way to have all the text linked into one icml file and disable font attribute changes? If there was it would make our workflow so much faster. We've got one main product with 10 different size labels that go on different packaging. If I could make the content/text updates to one file instead of ten it would be amazing!
I'm getting error: This file is already open by another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it" when trying to open ICMA files. Either get the error or InCopy crashes. Have removed and reinstalled InCopy and cleared preferences. No luck. This is a Windows 10 Pro system with Adobe Creative Cloud. Please help.
