Some years back I saved some pdfs to usb drive from my work computer -- the files saved and displayed as pdfs. Now, when I try to access the files on my various Windows computers at home, file explorer shows those files with .pdf.xml suffix instead of .pdf. The files were originally saved as pdfs. I cannot open these files despite trying to use Adobe Acrobat, various Windows browsers (Chrome, etc). I have tried renaming the files to .pdf, eliminating the .xml suffix. I have tried opening the files in Word. Nothing works.
Just wondering. I need InCopy for a project, and Adobe Portfolio would be a nice perk.
Why do I get so many links? How can I get just one link to one incopy file??
Good morning everyone. I would like to introduce the use of InCopy in our company. However, the editorial team is also made up of other external resources, who we do not want to ask to download Adobe onto their computers. My question is whether it is possible to use InCopy via web browser, without installing anything. Thank you
Our InDesign users are all on MACs. They are using ALL Adobe activated fonts. Our InCopy users are all on PC's. They activate the exact same fonts as the InDesign users. Whenever our InDesign users select a Font that already exists as part of the Windows OS, InCopy reports it as a missing font. We cannot remove the font from windows. How can we FORCE InCopy to see the Adobe activated Fonts? We have the preference set to Enable Adobe Fonts. The ONLY way the font works is if we REMOVE it from the Windows Fonts folder - we cannot do that or Windows applications will break. I was on a chat with Adobe for three hours and they had no solution. They just kept having me activate and reactivate the Font. Then they said the InDesign font was wrong, but it was not. Any help would be appreciated.
Had something weird happen for the first time tonight. Our designer, working in inDesign, notices entire sections of text were missing from his file. Seemingly randomly, we can't quite figure out why some are gone and others arent. When I open the .indd file in inCopy, I see the same thing, whether I'm looking in Layout Story or Galley views—The text frames and assignments still exist, but random assignments are just blank, with no text at all. But when I close the .indd file and open either the .icma file or the .icml file for the supposedly blank assignment, all the copy is still there. Anyone have any idea whats going on? I'm thankful the copy still exists somewhere but we're really hoping we don't need to redesign it all.
I'm seem to be having a strange issue in InCopy when I try to open PB covers. Instead of showing me the Cover in "layout" view, it shows me four blank pages. And this is the ICMA file that I opened. Btw, Im also accessing the file through a VPN server not sure if that is related to the issue. Thanks in advance
Hi,i´m curently working at a very small company and try to implement an Indesign-InCopy workflow. So far it works fine but changes i make to an Indesign Document are not reflected in the InCopy file. Example: After the intial creation of the icma file i add a couple of textframes to an allready existing task in InCopy.Indesign asks if i want to export the new settings, i want.Opening Incop the newly added textframes are not available to the editor. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello, I have been having an issue with InCopy creating overflow where it shouldn't be. For example, if I check out a text box with 5 lines and delete a word, the last two lines disappear and I am not able to write more than 3 lines. When opening the file on other computers, every line is visible. But then once I go back to my computer the lines disappear again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling InCopy, but the issue persisted.
I purchased Incopy - As a low cost script writing tool. Outside of the standard {Code orientated - .txt format} Why the software requires 16GB of RAM in order to function doesn't even make sense. It doesn't use GPU or any processor functions. So what's up with that ??? ... Does anyone even reply here ... {I'm not sure}
Help me, please.Yesterday I accidentally uninstalled InCopy from my macbook, through an uninstall program. I wanted to restore it, but I couldn't find a file to reinstall it, and it's not available in My Software on the official website. The programs were downloaded to me by another person in the official Apple store. If you need more information, I will post
Trying to implement InCopy but find when I export stories the page layout gets all jumbled. The main text boxes are now full page rather than smaller. The notes to the left of the main body (separate text box) are in the middle of the main text box, they need to stay in place and be editable .. is that possible? The main text box is a running text box story.
I've (badly) built a script for InCopy that allows me to export multiple InDesign files as PDFs with the "Include Notes as Annotations" option checked for the PDF export.I can't figure out the right terminology to accomplish the following:1. Make it so "include notes as annotation" = true2. Make it so "view pdf after exporting" = false3. Each InDesign file is closed, either after the PDF is successfully created, or after all PDFs are successfully created.I'm using InCopy 19.1 on a MacOS, and Visual Studio Code to build the scripts.Any and all advice is welcome, thanks in advance.
Hello, I've been reading through several threads here about exporting/packaging assignments and sharing them with collaborators by email. I now know this isn't the ideal workflow. But, I'm too far in to get out now. I exported the assignments, packaged from InDesign and shared with my HR partner. She edited the handbook in InCopy and checked the assignment in. But, we can't package it. The menu items are 'greyed out' and unavailable. She sent me the files I sent her and I can see her edits in InCopy. How do I get my InDesign document to update?
All the recent changes to Cloud are great (when they work), but I don't get why the InDesing - InCopy workflow is not supported in cloud. It has completely disrupted the workflow we had in my team between content creators and designers. Everything was smooth sailing until Adobe started messing up with stuff, now we're forced to look for third party solutions which is not great because it means further expense on our end. Seriously. I don't get it. Our content creators all cancelled their subscriptions because they are now useless to them, and Adobe doesn't seem to be giving viable solutions.
When I open my icma files in InCopy to check the designer's layouts, I'm bumping into a problem -- specifically with photos. On a couple of occasions, the designer has had to change a photo in the layout. She claims the images are displaying correctly in her InDesign file; however, I can only see the old photos, not the replacements in InCopy. The text portions of the layout seem to be behaving and updating appropriately. Why would certain photos not be updating in InCopy? What should we be checking to fix this? Let's start this post off with an image:My primary query: How do I change the measurement units for the Edit Stroke Style panel to inches? I have already tried the non-helpful step of Edit > Preferences > Units & Increments. In that panel, the only choice that comes remotely close is "Other Units", from which I can choose either Points or (of all things) Millimeters. Really. In an application which also employs points, picas, and inches in the same document. I know that changing the units to inches in the Edit Stroke Style panel is possible, because in this video: Create New Stroke Styles in InDesign cc (youtube.com) Amy's panel displays only inches (the panel in question displays beginning at 2:22). Even if I need a custom plug-in, that will do. If that is a solution, please include a link to the plug-in in your reply. Thank you.-------------------------------------------------------An aside: I have spent nearly my entire desktop publishing career (about
In Incopy when viewing the document, if a duplicate headshot is being used next to a class description, the headshot is showing as a box that is grayed out and when printing inhouse on printer, the gray box prints versus actual photo - any suggestions? We have checked our viewer display performance settings and on typical or high quality display still grayed out.
Hi. Does anyone have tips for making it easier to select and edit text frames in InCopy? We've got lots of overlapping frames, and it's tricky to tell which one we're working on. Any advice for clearer frame selection or switching?Would love to hear your tricks or tools that make this smoother. Thank you!Angie
Hello, we are having an issue with InCopy. We've saved the indesign file with Assignment in a central location and Editor 1 can successfully edit. After editing they check the file back in and save and close the file. When Editor 2 opens the same file afterwards to edit, they cannot see the changes made by Editor 1. Are we missing a step here?
Hello, I am encountering layout and display issues in Adobe InCopy that seem to be unique to my installation. When I open certain chapters or sections of documents, the layout appears messy, and the text does not display correctly. Strangely, my colleagues, who are using the same fonts, and documents, are not experiencing these problems. In addition, it just happened for no reason because I had been working smoothly the last few weeks ago. I have taken the following steps to address the issue without success:Reinstall the programRestart PC I have attached screenshots illustrating the issue for your reference.- Picture 1 is what my friends seen- Picutre 2 is mine (you will see the layout in paragraph and infographic are messy and unstructured) Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Suphanut
Hello, I've been having issues with InCopy 2024 freezing and then corrupting files. First, the program freezes, leaving me to force quit it. Then, when I try to reopen the file, it can't open it. When I try to open a new, different file, InCopy also corrupts that file. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, trying it on a different computer, and deleting all preferences. My current solution is to use InCopy 2023. My coworkers are also having issues with InCopy corrupting our files. It's really frustrating. They need to patch this ASAP.
