Hello Adobe Community I'm using Indesign and have created a table, the upper cells row I have done as Header and introduced an image in each cell. The header repeats in each single page after and this is fine. The problem appears when exporting in pdf where the header appears only on the first page and not on the followings. File was created with CS3 first than converted to the last indesign. Thanks alot for your help. Beppe

This is a new behavior I have observed with the latest InDesign update. I am running Version 18.0 x64 on Windows 11.   When I hit the Setup button on the Print dialog, instead of going to the printer-driver-specific dialog, I get a generic Windows Print dialog. If I click on the More Settings button on this dialog, I can get to the printer-specific dialog I want, but all the settings in that dialog have reverted to their defaults, and I need to reset them all. The settings revert to default even if I print the document again immediately. Previous versions of InDesign went straight to the printer-specific dialog, and saved the preferred settings there not only from one print to another, but as part of the file when saved and reloaded.    Is there some setting to turn off the call to the Windows generic dialog? Having to reset everything in the printer dialog for every print is time consuming, and a source of errors.    <Title renamed by moderator>

I have to add a paragraph style to all the chapters in a book, and I'm wondering if there's a way to do this as a batch rather than "Load paragraph styles" chapter by chapter. Any ideas?

I have about 15 mostly single page indd files that I need to merge into one InDesign file so I can run a script to change page size. Anyone know how to do it? Book option doesn't work. 

I'm having issues in the above environment. The 2020 version works OK but this new version is giving me fits. I can start a file and then sometimes when saving it tells me the file needs repairs or worse it tells me the file is corrupt and can't be saved. Sometimes it does save and reopen. Still giving me problems when I save. I can make PDFs that represent where the work was when I finished. I can't work this way anybody have any suggestions?

I'm trying to display some Arabic text in an InDesign document. It's a label which should read:المنطقة الباردة However, because the text box wraps over two lines, it's displaying as:المنطقةالباردة As you can see, this is bottom to top, rather than top to bottom. I've also attached a screenshot from within InDesign, showing it incorrect (on two lines) and correct (on one line). I am using the Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer, and character direction is set as Right to Left.I feel like I've hunted through all the settings, and searched online for an answer, but I can't find it anywhere! Can someone please point me towards what I'm assuming will be a very simple fix!

Hi, I'm having an issue where my fonts look correct in the InDesign document, but when I export to PDF, some fonts, seemingly at random, will change to other ones. I have had this issue on a few different documents in the past, and have been able to just create outlines of the type to deal with it, but it's becoming frustrating. I have the most up-to-date version and have attached visuals of what happens. Appreciate any help! after export before export before exportafter export

Looking through the docs and some example code in github for the InDesing APIs through Firefly services I can see that the input/output assets list AWS S3, Dropbox, and Azure as the supported assets. However it looks like these are just utilizing signed/ pre-signed URLs, and they are not the only cloud services which support this style of access to assets.   Is it possible to use a different cloud storage system for assets with Firefly InDesign APIs assuming it can generate a signed url for use by the Adobe backends? Specifically I want to know if it is possible to utilize these APIs with signed URLs for Google Cloud Storage assets.   From the reading the docs, I strongly doubt this would work as is, since there's likely a domain based whitelist for these assets. Hi. The other day, all my CS5 apps were working fine. I had a project open in InDesign that was missing some fonts, so I installed the fonts and tried to restart InDesign to make the fonts register, and the app would no longer open. When I click on the app icons, I get a quick spinning wheel, then nothing happens. Task manager shows no trace of the app being open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, and at first, just attempting to uninstall gave me a Runtime Error. Today, I was able to reinstall the software, but the apps are still not responding. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 

Hi! I created a 3D rectangle in Indesign using only lines. How can I fill that "rectangle" with white color so that it's not transparent? Since it's not recognized as an actual rectangle, it doesn't fill it for me. I need to stack these 3D rectangles for a project I'm doing but don't want the lines from the rectangle underneath to be showing. Anyone know how to fix this?Thanks!

I am trying to use the new 2025 version of InDesign - but it is really unusable. Running latest version (20.3) on Macos (15.4). Mac Studio with M2 Max CPU and 32 GB memory. One major issue I am having is that when I select a text box, it will actually not select the box until I move the mouse again. I click the box and nothing happens. When I start moving the mouse - it suddenly gets selected. If I do not move the mouse - nothing is selected - until I move the mouse. This makes it impossible to use. I've seen some tip on Document Font folder or Contextual Task Bar or Magnet app - but none of those are relevant for me. InDesign 2024 version (19.5.2) works fine and it does not have these issues. I did a test on my Macbook Pro (Apple Silicon) - and no issue there - even using the same mouse as on the Mac Studio. I see some posts that Adobe has fixed InDesign with latest update - but that is definitely not correct...   I uploaded a video to YouTube showing the issue. In the video one

Becoming increasingly frustrated with this.Copy text box from a document and paste it into a new document, and the text will alter its position within the text box. I am assuming its a background format/preference interacting on the new document.I have looked at the settings between documents for text frame options (baseline) and that isnt the solution. I have checked the indesign preferences have pasting text and tables all information is checked - but it doesn't change the outcome.Have also checked it isn't reacting to a grid - and again the document settings seem the same - so no conflict there.Does anyone have any idea of any other things to check?

I've inserted an image into some text (blacked-out shape). It's got no object wrap, it's set to the same body paragraph style as the rest of the text before and after it.  The highlighted return is the return between the inline image and the paragraph next to it in the next column. You can see the bounding box of the inset image is above the return and the text at the bottom of the page is really far down from the stuff above it. There should be space for the final line of text to within the margins but it doesn't because this return is so low compared to where the image is.  The image is made of a group of assets. I've checked every single one, both the bouncing box and the link/image placed inside it and none of them have wraps which would be causing this additional space.  The paragraph style for the sub title under the image does not have any "space before" and the "space after" of the body text is also not as large as the space I have. Hello, we encountered a weird glitch when creating documents by InDesign server that contain anchored textframes.The textframes get created and anchored, but when opening the file in InDesign Desktop afterwards and selecting the frame, the "anchor mark" is invisible. I have often exported my files to HTML - but now encountered a problem with a missing chapter

Hello,In a desperate attempt to save the hair on my head, I would be very grateful for some help in solving what I hope is a simple issue. I create a calendaer each year using a script that creates a table for each month.  The table includes the month and dates - all that works well.  The table overlays an image but depending on the image, some of the calendar text is difficult to read so I want to apply a glow (or any other suitable effect) to make the text more readable. I select the text tool and can highlight the affected text but all effects options are greyed out.  I have tried selecting the table (and a specific cell) and can see an option to apply an effect to the text only but the effect is applied to the whole table.  Such a simple thing to do Photoshop but not in InDesign .. Help!! 🙂

Hi AllI created a document in InDesign Desktop version, imported xml (didn't 'tick' create link while import). When I open that document in InDesign Server it throws xml link missing..but in InDesign Desktop version I'm not getting any xml link missing..Please suggest, thank you.

I am unable to start indesign because this message pops up "Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonts or CMap files. Please reinstall InDesign". I have uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled the InDesign App to no avail. Any advice on how to fix the problem?

tengo un problema recurrente con InDesign. Creo un archivo y enlazo varias imágenes sin problema. Cuando cierro el proyecto y lo vuelvo a abrir después de un par de días, las imágenes aparecen rotas en el documento.Lo extraño es que los enlaces no parecen estar perdidos: en el panel de Enlaces no me aparece el icono de error rojo, y las imágenes siguen en la misma carpeta, sin cambios de nombre ni ubicación. Creo que podría ser un problema de caché o de visualización, porque al actualizar manualmente un enlace a veces se soluciona.El problema es que esto me ha afectado a todos mis documentos de InDesign, no solo a uno en particular, lo que está poniendo en riesgo mi trabajo.¿A alguien más le ha pasado?

For example, my current column width is 81mm.I want this image to scale proportionally while preserving the cropping state.Rather than reverting to the uncropped state and then resizing to fit the column width. Following the traditional approach:item.fit(FitOptions.PROPORTIONALLY);item.fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT);This appears to restore the image to its original state before scaling it to a width of 81mm. 

Hi can we please fix two things for the next update. - Export to pdf .. currently settings defaults to last previous file you were working on. So if last week i worked on a file exported page 1 of all. next week i may go to work on a diferrent file and that setting is still to export page 1 of all. - Solution is to have it default to the previous setting used of that same document.  not whatever last document.  (This has caught me out several times when I send a pdf off to someone and it only has one page in it which was puled in from as setting I may have alloctaed on a different project weeks ago). - Shift plus direct selection tool. (a) - when selecting multiple objects in this mode + holding shift.. some dissapear out of the selection.  

My mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 won't voice read text I've typed into an Indesign document. All it says is "Adobe stock 2025" whether I have the cursor in the text box or have text highlighted to be voice read. How do I get my Mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 to voice read the text I've typed with a True Type font in Indesign. I've  retyped in Indesign using an Open Type and the same thing happens.
