Hola He creado una variable de texto para los encabezados con los capítulos de un libro y le he aplicado un estilo de párrafo. El problema es que uno de los capítulos lleva una palabra que debe ir en itálica (cursiva) pero el encabezado aparece sin esa cursiva ¿hay alguna forma de arreglar eso?

Hello!I have a client who sent me an InDesign file with all the Endnotes at the end and they would like them separated by section. Is it possible to take an existing Indesign file with all the endnotes at the end of document and break them up so they are at the end of each section AND the numbering starts over at the beginning of each section?

I asked in another post about uncompiling a binary javascript and was informed not to go down that path...OK. I accept that. I have found a way to add the fuctionality that i need. I think using grep. But i know more about Quantem mechanics than i know about GREP so i am going to need help here also.here it is:Search for any text formatted with par style "sty1". this string we will call (for now) "txt1"replace that string with "I love to eat" && txt1Format that entire string with par style "sty2"Format the last word of the new string as bold. Can this be done? I am so appreciative to those who help me here! SF

I feel quite guilty about asking for help with this.  I know that the noble members of this form are not here to do work for me.  But I'm really stuck and ChatGPT just can't cut it.  In my line of expertise (life coaching)  I give a lot of my time away for others. What I would like to do is alter that it should loop through **the entire document** and execute the same for any text box that has a text overflow. The insertion text in the new text box should not be altered. Hi, I'd like to ask for help solving a problem. I received the files for repair. Unfortunately, they are corrupted. I can open them, but I can't work with them. Copying elements or even deleting the character style causes the application to crash. Even deleting all elements in the publication doesn't change the situation. Deleting the character style causes the crash. Attempting to save to *.idml is also impossible. Has anyone found a way to fix this? 

Hi there ... I am trying to resize a 24 page document just a little bit smaller. I'm using the current Indesign CC. There is one master page with not much on it. Anyway, when I try to resize the layout in Document Setup, it keeps failing because of an error. And, it says "object is locked" and a page goes blank, but there are no objects locked on the spreads. Any ideas? Thank you!

I recently updated Adobe InDesign to the latest version (20.4.1), and since the update, most of the dropdown menus in the application are not functioning properly. When I click on a dropdown, it either freezes or doesn't respond at all.This issue is significantly impacting my workflow. I’ve already tried restarting the application and my system, but the problem persists.Could you please suggest a fix or let me know if this is a known issue in the latest version?

Good Morning 🙂Sometimes it's easier to ask here than to search all over for an answer especially when the search options in adobe discussions is so poor and I always prefer to hear your thoughts about it. My favorite and so far always and forever font manager application was the discontinued FontExplorer. I moved to Extensis Suitcase Fusion even before FontExplorer was discontinued, when it started to have various problems and I didn't have time to deal with it. I never liked the way Extensis Suitcase was handling things but I could live with it. But now I can't. Now they took away the option to keep the font linked to a folder on the desktop (I always unchecked "copy to vaults" option as I hated the vault and wanted to "Reveal Font in Finder" when needed) and "forced" me to use the vault and to store on the cloud.  I do believe this option should be mine to decide. I did wrote to them about it hoping other will too and that will bring this option

I do the layout for a scholarly, weekly newsletter, and sometimes the schedule is very tight. The NL, for printing purposes, has to be exactly 4 pages. But sometimes, alas, it comes out a little longer, which will not fly. So I go back and tighten here and tighten there, and decrease font size and leading here and there. Very tedious. Is there a tool that could do this automatically, where i input the page number and boooom it does it magically while adjusting important things only minimally. I would like to automatically command all of my text boxes to align to the page margins as set up in the page masters. My book has 750 pages, so I do not want to do this manually. See screesnshot. Thank you.

I have a graph that is generated through datylon studio web directly (not the plugin). The graph is then dowloaded as an SVG from datylon. (done this way because graph is used in multiple places).When I add the SVG to InDesign, there is a weird issue where some text is getting bold. It's random on every placement, including copying and pasting the element within InDesign itself. You can see in this screenshot how there are bolded sections of font (yes, it's a mess, it's just to illustrate the point of placing the same SVG multiple times within a document is yielding different font results).This is also present when exporting, so it's not just a rendering issue when looking at it in InDesign. SVG looks fine in browsers, as well as Illustrator.I have run out of ideas on what to edit within the SVG, or if I'm doing something wrong when placing it into the InDesign document, in order to have the text display consistent according to what's defined within the SVG. I have downloaded two TrueType fonts (39 Smooth and Smooth Fantasy) to my Adobe fonts folder but I am unable to access them in InDesign. Can anyone help please?

I couldn't write a JavaScript if my life depended on it, so I am forced to bother you all friends if someone can assist me with this: I need to scan the current doc and pick up every text string with the par style "sty1" then dump all those instances into a new text frame at the end of the doc with a acsemi colon between them. But there is a little tricky issue here: these strings will always be in the footnote area. Now on many pages there are two text frames, on the top A and on the bottom B. Each one could have FN with that par style. But it is crucial *that the order be by entire page*, so it should scan the FN of text frame A on page 1 and then text of the FN on frame B on page 1 and then proceed to page 2 and repeat again etc.   So if on page 1 in text frame A, we have a footnote (again in frame A) with the formatted text "I love cheesecake" and another formatted FN "I love soda" and then in frame B (on page 1) we have in the FN the formatted text "I love walnuts " and then

I have a par style with a grep style to format the last word of the paragraph of that style (hebrew/arabic). I set teh correct char style and then used this grep code:[[:alnum:]]+[[:punct:]]?$(Don't think i know grep. I got from ChatGPT)It absoltlrly refuses to obey. Is the numeric 11 position smaller? Yet in English mode, it remains uniformly wide overall.Sometimes Chinese text aligns properly too, but I'm unsure what factors determine this.

Regardless of the level, one can directly access the text box layer.There's no need for multiple levels of navigation like .parent.parent.parent.For example, cell.parentFrame or contents.parentFrame?

I have a completed design file packaged. I've received an order from my client to an upgrade from the original design.  I want to save the original to a new project ID but have never been able to make it work as the links remain tied to the original. Is there a way to make a completed INDD file to a new one with links tied to the new file? Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

Hi all,Apologies if this already exists on the forum somewhere, if it does I have been unable to find anything that helps. I'll list all the facts that I have below. Hoping that someone out there knows something!My Indesign is displaying colours as faded/washed out. This is happening with whatever documents I work on. I have checked and double checked that the documents have the correct colour break-downs - when I export to PDFs (or JPG or whatever else) the colours show correctly, so I know that the problem is not with my Mac screen. Document colours also display correctly when my colleague opens and works on them on his Mac, so I deduce that it the problem lies with my Indesign.My indesign is fully up to date and the problem persists no matter what display performance I chose. Indesign is displaying faded on everything both created in indesign and assets imported in from illustrator however imported JPGs seems to be okay. So maybe the problem is with how swatches are displayed? (agai

Hi, I'm writing a climbing guidebook where the climbs are described by drawings, where the routes are drawn inn with lines on those drawings. Next to those there's some text with info and grades etc... I made the drawings in Illustrator and created different layers for the drawing, the route and the text. I then place the Illustrator file directly into Indesign and draw over the lines and text - this because I sometimes have to change the size of the immage, and otherwise the route line thickness and font sizes would differ from page to page. I then end with "shutting off" some layers in the illustrator file (from indesign). The problem I'm runnin into now is that the transparency of the .ai files is lost. My page number boxes get blocked by what should be a transparrent part of the layers in illustrator. Is there a workaround here or am I opening a can of worms that my limited experience will not be able to work with?  Attached a picture of the guide

Hey there, today I’m looking for a solution in this case. I got a book with 500+ pages with hundredsof headlines. This document contains just a paragraph style for the headlines and one forfollowing copytext of each chapter. Now I want to apply a new paragraph style "subtitle text" to every first paragraphafter the headlines. The second one is normal copytext until the next headline. I tried to:Working with "next style" in the paragraph style option, but it is necessary to mark the paragraphs to utilize the function. This doesn’t work so smart, because I have to mark it for every occurrence.Searching with GREP-styles (lookahead for example) combined with the paragraph"find-"selection But nothing worked very well. Do you have an idea?
