Why are my paragraph tags splitting into individual lines (all in their own tag) when I export out of Indesign CC to an accessible PDF? I've tried both with and without using the articles panel. It makes for a much more complicated document structure in Acrobat when you need to make some changes. Have checked all of the proper buttons such as "Use for reading order" in the articles panel, and editing the export tags, etc.
Has anyone else been having issues with the baseline grid since the last InDesign update? When I align text to the baseline grid, it suddenly jumps around or doesn't align properly—even though I've set the option correctly in the text settings panel.
I 'd like to use the new Indesign option to insert MathML for equations. I have a Word document with a lot of equations that I need to convert to MathML on a Mac. Anybody who has done this before and knows how to do this? <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi Community,I'm venturing into new territory and trying to place an .XLSX table into my .INDD class syllabus. I have watched a handful of videos and read a few threads. I must be making a BEGINNER'S mistake somewhere. To troubleshoot, I made three different .XLSX files, descending in complexity from my desired file, down to a test file with only single digit integers and no formatting. I have create links to placed files turned on.I have import options checked. After the import menu, there is nothing loaded on the cursor and it's as if I didn't use the Place function at all. Exactly NOTHING happens. Bleep blorp bloop. I'm attaching SS of the .XLSX in Excel, the destination .INDD, and the Import options menu as it populates for me (mostly greyed-out, allowed to set cell-range, table style, that's about it.) *also: I realize the cell range does not match the test dataset, it does match the desired dataset in screenshots further down the post). Your he
I have always shared my creative cloud with my wife. She only uses indesign and acrobat and now there are requests for her to update and sign in. How and why does this happen?
Why is that, it says the findWhat property setting is invalid?What it should say is that gre doesn't have any data I originally got it right by writing it directly like this:var res = getGrepSearch("@", app.activeDocument); gre = new RegExp('@'); main(){ var res = getGrepSearch(gre, app.activeDocument); } . . . .. . function getGrepSearch(fp, s) { app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = app.findChangeGrepOptions = null; app.findChangeGrepOptions.properties = { includeHiddenLayers: true, includeLockedLayersForFind: true, includeLockedStoriesForFind: true, includeMasterPages: true } app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = fp; //return app.findGrep() return s.findGrep() }
I have a document with page numbers on the master. If I data merge to a ID file everything is good. If I export directly to a PDF my page numbers get whacked. If I pull the page numbers off the master it works fine both ways. The pages should go i, ii, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 when they go wonky I get i, ii, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1 And its like this in 3 files so something is whacked. Any ideas other than the obvious answer to just put them in the doc??
I discovered an issue with a PDF file exported from InDesign. The document contained a text object with a gradient, partially overlaying a photo. So essentially, a text element with a transparent effect placed on top of a pixel-based image. The PDF was exported using the PDF/X-1a preset, so I expected the file to be fully flattened. Visually, the file looked fine, and PitStop Preflight reported no issues. The next step was to place the file into Kodak Preps for imposition for offset printing. At that stage, everything still appeared correct. However, the imposed PDF exported from Preps showed the text object without the gradient. Instead, the text was filled with just one of the gradient colors. After testing and replicating the issue, I found that it did not occur if I flattened the PDF a second time in Acrobat, or if I removed the photo underneath the affected object. Another workaround was converting the text to outlines. My conclusion is that a text object with a gradient over a photo
I need to create a aphorism in the first chapter using the paragraph Then, in Chapter 2, I want to start automatically in 10The problem is that I have 35 chapters to include. Thanks Jorge Ribeiro
For example, a character in my regular is determined by using a certain character on the filename. It may or may not be @.But that doesn't mean you can use @* for either case. It's not an assumption, it's that I have to determine which case to use based on whether the filename has the @ symbol or not. afterTheAtSymbol = /\@(.*)(\.[^\.]+)$/, afterTheAtSymbol = /\^(.*)(\.[^\.]+)$/,
The code below, which I tested with alter,The left popup is "empty". The right popup is [objet charater]. This shows that there are difference. Since it is different, the choice can be judged. But when I use if(!qz===''), It always prompts (!qz===‘’) with a result of false. What do I have to write "if ( )" to get it right? Another problem:If an @ is found, and there is only one, also execute the subsequent code.If the loop does not find an @, it prompts alert(“No one @”).How to write this?Thank you very much. for (var h = 0, k = 0; h < sa.length; h++) { if ("TextFrame" == sa[h].constructor.name) { if (sa[h].overflows) { sa[h].fit(FitOptions.FRAME_TO_CONTENT) } //alert(sa[h]); var qz = getGrepSearch("@", sa[h]); alert(qz); alert((!qz === '')); //for (var k = 0; k < sa.length; k++)
Recently updated to InDesign 20.1. When I click on any box or shape, text or picture it takes 10-15 seconds before it shows that it is selected. Sometimes I can move/edit the box although it doesn't have the blue lines indicating it is selected. Other times, I can not. Selecting multiple items often crashes InDesign. Today I selected to text boxes and a picture. Crash. As a result to the time killing aspect of the update, I have had no choice but to revert to InDesign 2024. (19.5.2), which you might imagine, is also an inconvenience. I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 on M1, 2021 iMac with 16 Gb Ram.
I have installed the beta version of InDesign to try the feature to convert PDF to InDesign files. When trying to open any PDF, InDesign won't do anything. In my team, one of my coworkers can open a PDF, while the other has a similar problem. It starts to analyze the file, but after that, it closes. There is any reason why it works for some of us, but not for the rest?
Hi , how are you allI want a script that cut selected text from me , and paste it in a new text frame at the exact place of the selected text without changing anything in its format or placeThanks

If the character you're looking for is in the overflow text, findWhat won't help.Any ideas? var queries = [ { findWhat: '@', objectStyleName: "CapCenter"}, ];Maybe have the overflow text expand first in the same text box?
I've been trying to solve this very annoying issue all afternoon. I'm working on a document that we update annually, so the file I'm working from is a 2019 file. I wanted to use the new review feature to let other memebers of my team know which information I needed them to update for me. Unfortunately, all my comments show up on the web portal as "unmapped", even though show up as linked to the annotations in my InDesign document. A previous thread suggested saving to an IDML format and opening the IDML so the document can be a 2020 file. That workaround did not work for me. I decided to create a new document, upload it for review and test to see if I could get comments to link. The blank document successfully took annotations and pins, so I copy and pasted the first two pages of my document in and tested the comments again. Again, the annotation linked to the comment, so I added the other 20 pages of my document, updated the link, and tested again. The third test annotation linke
In the sample Adobe script for InDesign, SplitStory.jsx, there is a note: "Any overset text at the end of the story will be deleted." This seems to be not true, at least in the most recent versions of InDesign (I tried it on InD 19.5.4 and 20.4.1, on Windows 11): the "duplicate" method of the TextFrame class copies also the overset text in the duplicated frame. The sample script is from 2009, so I guess that sometime between there and now the application's behavior changed. Do you know the InDesign version when this happened, or where to find this information? I tried to look for the release notes of the old versions of the program, but the links in this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/indesign-releasenotes.html) are all redirected to the release notes of the latest version.
I'm setting English text in Scala Pro, which has a Stylistic Set that makes the "1" look like a "1" rather than the default "I" for Old Style Figures. So far so good. But, if you change the hyphenation to "No Language", like you would when setting URLs, the number "1"s change back to "I"s. Is there a reason for this? Seems like a bug, no?
I have worked on it for days and its not working, what can I do, please help me out
The client wants the box to not be filled (empty) when the PDF form is first opened.I took a shortcut and used two spaces " " to make the first field appear blank. What is the proper way to do this?
Greetings, as of today, every time I attempt to use the generative AI feature in the contextual task bar I get a pop-up prompting me to check my available credits (I have 6000 credits avail.) and then I'm locked out of the app. I can't work, I can't cancel out or close out of the popup window. I have to force quit and then restart — but the same thing happens again if I want to use the AI features. Super annoying. Can you pls advise. I'm all up to date on Adobe app installs. currently on a Mac Mini with an M2 Pro chip and current OS. Thanks.
