JUST started getting this error after using ID 2025 for MONTHS. "Adobe InDesign 2025.app is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the trash. The file was downloaded on an unknown date." This is a macOS dialog of course, and the ? button on the error window suggests that the code in the app does not match the code that was signed by the developer, and this mismatch is causing the Mac security to block the app. I tried fixing it by uninstalling and re-installing from the Adobe CC Launcher - maybe this would update the install date and code check? - but kept getting the same error.  MacOS allows you to bypass this security check and tell it to launch anyway, through the Privacy and Security setting pane - and this ultimately did allow the app to launch. But. Seriously. Adobe. Figure out why this happened at all and fix it. I've been using ID since 2.0 and this is the first time this has been an issue, ever. So, please, for the love of critical workflo

Hello, I am editing a prose InDesign document. All existing instances of single and double quotes are typographers quotes (curly quotes). However, when I type and add new single and double quotes, they appear straight. In Preferences, I have type set to Typographer's quotes, and I have Dictionary quotes set to curly quotes. I know that I can use keyboard shortcuts to type curly quotes (Shift and Option with bracket key), and that works, but what a pain. There are a few instances where I need straight quotes, like in expressing geographic coordinates minutes and seconds, but 99.9% of the time, I need curly quotes. I have the latest versions of Mac and Indesign. Any help would be much appreciated on how to fix this problem.

I am working on a document that is over 80 pages, A4 landscape, multiple sections, multiple layers. I turned of facing pages in doc settings.   I am not sure if I accidentally hit a shortcut or if this is a bug. Suddenly, there is a gap around 5mm on every page where no content is shown. I can also see a "ghost" page to the right.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi All, I am not able to reliably set createPrimaryTextFrame in a document preset. I tried the following code to test and the results show it not being able to set the value more often than not. Bonjour voilà mon problème :Lorsque j'essaie de faire des raccourcis comme glisser dupliqué ou encore la mise à l'échelle proportionnelle et plein d'autres ne fonctionne plus, j'ai vu pleins de forum résoudre les problèmes mais aucun ne corresponds à mon cas. Le seul moyen qui a du déregler tout ça c'est le fait que j'ai essayé de changer quelques raccourcis via Indesign, mais depuis que j'ai touché à cela plus rien ne fonctionne. J'ai un Macbook pro avec la version 2022 d'Indesign j'ai réinstallé Indesign mais rien à refaire. Je n'ai vraiment pas envie de réinstaller creative cloud ou même mon ordinateur. Illustrator en revanche fonctionne très bien. Merci pour votre aide 

I created a file last year in september and now I can't open my own file?It's a regular indd-file, but I get this message:"Cannot open the file. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, aplug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application"? Don't know what to do, all my work is on it and I've read some threads here on this forum but none have worked so far.Tried, resaving it on another computer, sending it to myself, zipping and then re-opening it, with no other result.I have both the 2020 and 2021 indesign versions on my Mac Powerbook.

Hey everyone! Is anyone having issues that, after plugging in the specifics of your new file within InDesign, the program switches back to the default settings? Everytime I input my information for what I'm looking to produce InDesign will revert back to the default settings of the letter format so I have to either be incredibly quick or customize the file layout from within the document once it's created. Anyone else having this issue? And, if so, any fixes to it? 

Hello, I have 20+ InDesign files, each containing 50+ links to various files, photos, and logos. Out of nowhere, InDesign has decided to unlink all of them. So now I have to manually relink everything — file by file. This takes me about 20 minutes per InDesign document, since the unlinked files are scattered all over my computer.And no, nothing has changed in the root or folder name. Northing.I'm not even asking a question. I'm just informing you. This is costing me hours of extra work. I’m wondering if Adobe is willing to compensate me for that? Who should I talk to? in that case?

Since updating to InDesign 20.4.1 the other day I'm getting very, very long save times involving the colourful beachball of woe. How can I, and is it safe to revert to a previous version?

I have a publish online document with a video that uses multistate objects (basically I show a play button initially and when people click play then the video pops up - and then there is a close button to close the video and go back to the play button).It worked just fine previously.. I had a pc tuneup so updates were done including drivers, etc. Now when I am on that page I am able to click the initial play button and it pops up the video; however, the play button on the video is now greyed out. I attached images of the video details and screenshot of how it looks. No idea why it stopped working.Anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Thanks for your time!

Bonjour, avec des collaborateurs nous utilisons régulièrement les liens de révision pour interagir sur les maquettes que je propose. Depuis pas mal de temps, les personnes avec qui je travaille n'ont plus accès aux fichiers partagé via l'option lien de révision dans Creative Cloud. J'ai beau cherché je ne trouve pas comment faire pour qu'elles aient à nouveaux accès à la liste des liens partagés. Je ne sais pas si je suis clair dans mes explications. Merci d'avance pour toute aide apportée.

Hello, I'm working on a Mac and have a basic 50 page document that I am trying to share. There are only 2 links, the rest is text and color. My program crashes whenever I try to share the file on the cloud, OR save a small pdf to my computer. Please help. This was 2 days worth of work.

Has anyone else been dealing with this issue since the update? I used to have no problem publishing an indesign document containing GIFS over any size. Now it appears any GIF over 10MB will not even appear in the document. How can I remedy this?  Image attached below for reference- the top gif does not appear as it is 11mb.    <Title renamed by moderator>

Folks, I have a word manuscript with 8000 footnotes and about a 1000 endnotes. The author wants the endnotes to appear as a second set of footnotes at the bottom of every page, with star dagger series as placeholders.  I dont want to do this manually. Any changes to text implies I'll be buried with several manual changes.  Please advise best course of action. 

Current issues:- Media in the documents are showing up as broken links, particularly .gifs (see attached screenshot) - Documents published today don't appear in the Update Existing Document dropdown in InDesign - Documents are not showing up as published documents in the Publish Online Dashboard   <Title renamed by moderator>

I'm fairly new to indesign, but I'm trying to edit an indesign file someone else created. Once it's open in indesign, it seems to be missing elements and the title says it's "70% converted." I'm at a loss... any ideas what I can do to view this file properly and then be able to edit it? I'm using the most recent version, so I don't think that's it. I would really like to edit this file rather than recreate it entirely. Thanks.

Hi please can you tell me why I can't select the photo in the top left frame to reposition the photo inside the frame? You can see the layers panel on the right. I've tried to figure it out myself but have to admit defeat. It's the photo with the name starting 1.A. I have had no problem with this 20-page document for the many weeks I have been working on it. I have had this problem with a different document and the solution there was to move it to top of the layers panel and bring to front using object menu. I have done both those things with this current document but this time it hasn't fixed it. Thanks in advance.     

I edited a small book in InDesign. I want to send it to the author to see the layout of the spread pages. How do I do that?

I have a text formatted with a serif style, but now I want to have some of it formatted with italic style. But some of the text on both sides of the marked text will also be changed to italic 

(InDesign 2019, Mac OS)Here at work, we make 48-page booklets. The template we use is set up with facing pages. I was wondering if there's a way to add maybe a 1" gap between the facing pages on screen.Someone might ask why I would want to do that. Very simply, each page is a separate advertisement, with bleed all around, and I don't want the bleed areas to overlap while viewing the document on screen.Thanks-
