InDesign

I can't do anything in InDesign except move the document around because the cursor is stuck on the handtool. Also, the space bar closes the file (also in Illustrator). I've tried everything I could find that was similar. HELP

What's going on?I'm ready to export an entire book and all of the sudden it's not showing me so many fonts!!

My book in Book Antiqua font is no longer supported by Adobe InDesign and alternatives I tried caused text to over-run or not fill up page space causing great gaps. Is there a replacement font that is supported and will be of the same size so as to avoid my rewriting the entire book!

Hi, Dear Friends!I have a paragraph style called "par1". This style has zero indent from the top. I want to apply character style named RED using GREP Styles/Nested Styles but only till the first : from the start and the last parenthesis. I have a lot of very short footnotes in a text (usually consisting of just one word). I think it would look better if I could summarise these footnotes so that there are several on one line. Can this be realised with InDesign? (It is possible with Affiniti Publisher, but...)

I have just updated to the latest version (20.3) and, upon pulling down on the Help menu, I couldn't help but notice that the search field that was in there has disappeared.Why was this removed? What was the rationale behind that? How can we get it back? I will gladly revert to 20.2 and stay there if this is deliberate. 

hi, InDesign keeps crashing when I save a file and renames my files to 'Testfile981xxxxx....' It has been like this for months but it has got to the point where it is unusable! I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no change. When it crashed I get the errors attached.I'm using a Macbook 15.4.1 Software and 16GB Memory, M1 Pro. I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign many times. I use idrive to save my files to, but have also started saving locally with no change. Can anyone help please as I have a print deadline looming and I need to get the magazine I'm working on finished. The first one is: how to change these font preview samples?I want to customize the samples.Where are they hiding? The second one is: Preferences>Text>Preview on hover, how do I see the effect of this, I don't see any change.I see that checking it, or unchecking it, previews the font effect of the currently selected content in real time.I don't know where it says preview.Thanks.

Hello! I would like to creat a GREP that bolds all numbers (including commas, decimals, and percent signs), but excludes a number that follows the name of a month. I also need one to italicize the phrase "The Movement." Example sentence below: In August 2024, we wrapped a year of strategic initiatives. Our survey found that 100% of respondents agree or strongly agree that The Movement was a successful film rollout campaign.  I have two character styles and two GREP created:bold numbers applied to (\d{1,3}(?:,\d{3})*(?:\.\d+)?%?|\d+(?:\.\d+)?%?italicized movement applied to \b(The Movement)\b when I add a third character style and try different GREP to exclude the August 2024 from bolding, 100% is no longer bolded. any ideas?

For the last year or so my InDesign crashes when I 'save as' to Google Drive. It happens 9 out of 10 times and is very frustrating. Some notes:When it crashes, the file will open up when InDesign restarts with the original file name. The new file name I tried to save it as will be in the folder where I tried to save it. If I 'save as' again and select that file, it is able to replace the file without crashing.It does not crash when I 'save copy'. So my workaround is to 'save copy' then 'save as' and replace the file. It's a tedious workflow.Sometimes when I 'save as' it doesn't crash, but I'm unable to determine what factors influence this. Any help with this would be massively appreciated!Thanks,Calum

Hello,I have created an EPUB (fixed layout) file with animations in Indesign, which works without problems on a Thorium reader on PC. When I checked the file on the EPUB checker, it reports errors with the animations, and it reports similar or the same error everywhere with all the animations: »data-idGenAnimationEndState« is not valid custom attribute (it must have at least one character after the hyphen, be XML-compatible, and not contain ASCII uppercase letters). For example, if I try to change the uppercase letters, it no longer reports an error, but the animations don't work anymore. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to solve this problem?

Hopefully one day the positioning object will have a wrap-around effect on the text above it This issue is too bad.It would be so nice to locate objects without this problem.This one turns down, picks up, do you have a better way to control it? 

I have placed a rectangular image to fall between two columns of wrappiing text. The text will not wrap. The object has been brought to the front. The screen shot attached shows the page and the text wrap box.It  is on the last page of "Sanskrit Article," attached.

I have a project from one of our client in which source InDesign files are XML tagged. Challenge is that as per the localization/translation process when we convert these XML tagged InDesign (INDD) files into IDML format for our localization use, those IDML files are not opening in InDesign CC 2018 or any other CC version and resulting the InDesign application to getting crashed. Can anyone kindly check if similar issue was faced by anyone and if there is a solution to convert these INDD files to IDML and open these IDML retaining the XML tagging even after the localization process? Bonjour à tous, En tant que graphiste et directeur artistique avec presque 10 ans d’expérience dans le domaine, je tiens à partager ma frustration face à la dernière version d’InDesign (CC 2025). Depuis son installation, je rencontre une lenteur insupportable dans toutes les actions, que ce soit sur des projets complexes (livres avec de nombreux styles, gabarits et fichiers TIFF lourds) ou même sur des fichiers simples et neufs. Chaque clic ou déplacement semble prendre une éternité. En plus de ça, les polices d’Adobe Fonts refusent de se synchroniser correctement : le téléchargement reste bloqué en permanence, ce qui complique énormément mon flux de travail. Pour ne rien arranger, plusieurs imprimeurs et éditeurs avec qui je collabore m’ont conseillé d’éviter cette version et de continuer à utiliser InDesign 2024, ce qui en dit long sur la confiance qu’inspire cette mise à jour. Je suis surpris qu’un outil professionnel, vendu à un tarif aussi élevé, puisse présenter autant de problèm

Greetings!  I have read over many of the posts in this thread, but none are quite the same as mine.  I have a document with seven pages besides the TOC page.  There are separate text frames on each page being used as headers and subheaders.  They are formatted with Paragraph Styles.  All the entries show up in my TOC but in the wrong order:  page 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  I originally built the page with five content pages, then duplicated spread at end of document on two of the original pages to create pages 6 and 7.  The pages appear in the correct order in my doc and the page numbers (from Parent page) are correct.Thanx,Jay
