I am trying to export an epub 3 reflowable but I keep getting the message: Error Formatting image '1.png'. The system may be low on memory or disk space. How do I fix this? 

Working on a catalog with 200 individual paragraph entries that need to be styled the same.There are 3 different styles within each paragraph which consists of 4 lines each.I have followed the directions in several YouTube tutorials but I'm obviously missing a step somewhere because I can't get them to work. I think the problem may lie in the drop downs for "up to" and "through" as well as the final drop down of choices to finish the line. I have tried to set up both Nested Line Style and Nested Style and neither work for me. I have done this catalog in the past by highlighting each line and selecting the style for it but that is incredibly tedious and time consuming.Anyone have any pointers?

Hi,I was wondering if someone could let me know whether the three images in this PDF have sufficient resolution. In InDesign, they're showing as 1321 PPI (effective), which should be more than enough—but in the PDF, they seem a bit blurry when I zoom in slightly. I guess it should be fine since a reader cant zoom, but I wanted to confirm in case I might need to make adjustments.  Thank you very much 

Ive just spend my whole day getting rid of two bugs i ran into when exporting EPUBS.For some strange reason i got an error message when exporting, telling me that i may have low memory or disc space "Error Formating image "xxxx.png"...." and an error about a text anchor. The text anchor problem was easy:I copied some text (including a URL linked word within that text) from an older version of the document into the new one. That text somehow referenced the URL link from the origin (the older version of the project) when exporting as EPUB and couldnt make sense of it, so it gave an error. So to fix it, i had to go to the Interactive/Hyperlinks and delete the link and create the same link again. Looks the same, is the same.. but works now The Formating image error was harder:I did a lot between the new and the older version that didnt give me an error so i tried to find out were the faulty page was. First i tried deleting pages and exporting epubs to see if the error stays.. i e

I have a question about the exact behavior of the Ctrl+Alt+N shortcut in InDesign.According to the official documentation, this shortcut creates a new document using "the last used document settings" without showing the New Document dialog box. However, I'm finding inconsistencies in how this actually works. My specific experience:I created a new A4 document and modified several settings (changed the number of pages to 5, set the bleed to 10mm, and the slug to 50mm). After working with this document and closing it, I used Ctrl+Alt+N to create a new document.What I observed was that InDesign only remembered the document type (A4) but did not retain any of my custom settings - it just created a new A4 document with default settings rather than keeping my modified values. My question:Does the Ctrl+Alt+N shortcut only remember the basic document type/preset (like A4) but not retain custom modifications? Or should it actually remember all modified settings from the last document?I

Any reason why the buttons are not consistently positioned?

I saw a lot of questions about this but they are older, so I am hoping to maybe get a different answer this time! 🙂 I have an InDesign document with layers.  One of the things on the digital layer is set up that when someone usin the Interactive PDF clicks on an answer in the Review, it shows the second layer with the correct answer and feedback.  This works great, but we would like to have audio that explains the feedback.The first one I did, I test and it seemed to work so I added the second one, now neither work. I deleted the second one, and now even the first one won't work.Any idea would be appreciated.  I do not have the option of doing an EPub, so if this doesn't work I will have to abandon the audio aspect.Thanks,Wendy

Hello, I'm looking for ways to increase the utility of data merge on indesign, and the project I've come up with is I'd like to set a different background color on each page of a merged document (lets say around 200 pages, all unique colors, kind of like a swatch booklet). I have a spreadsheet and each row has a color column (hex or rgb, whatever works best). I've been having chatgpt help me write some code, which it seems to have given a decent starting point, but of course comes up with errors. Those don't scare me, but I am having the hardest time finding any documentation to give insight on how to come up with a solution. Couple of questionsIs what I'm doing possible? (editing page of document as it's being merged, so at the end of the day each page has a different color, end of story). Where are the best resources/documentation for indesign scripts on data merges?  I'll post the chatgpt code for reference, but it doesn't work (error 55: object do

Hi all.I'm trying to understand the formatting of some docs I've inherited, and I'm new to InDesign.I don't understand what I'm dealing with in the attached screen shot. There appear to be three columns, but the text frame has only one. The area(s) containing the text are part of the text frame (they disappear when the text frame is hidden or deleted), but can't be selected in the layer view. And, as you can see, the mystery area exists outside the text frame itself. What might this be? Note: The other objects in the layer list are on a facing page, out of view.

I'm in search of a way to get InDesign to keep my original paragraph styling (color, font, justification) once I export my file to an interactive pdf. I know you can change the font and the size, but there is nothing for color or justification. Is there a way to do this in the native program or can it be done in Acrobat? Please help!

I have a document with the Main layer everyone sees and a digital layer which holds interactive items.  It works mostly BUT One of the things is an example in a Q&A format.  on the main layer (used to create the printed book) both the question and answer are visible.  On the digital layer there is a prompt to think about their answer and then click to reveal the answer.  Unfortunatley, even though the  Digital layer is presumably on top of the Main layer, the text on the main layer is showing through the prompt on the digital layer.  Is there a way to make the digital layer 'cover' what is on the main layer on page load so the answer doesn't show until they click the prompt?   It works if I put the answer on its own layer and print one layer or the other. Immediatly after installing the latest InDD release, the app began crashing randomly, specially after saving and closing a document.This happens 4 out 5 times, which means I'm constantly having to re-open the app.InDD was already displaying several performance issues in the previous releases, but this is more than I can take.

Hi everyone,I have some graphics in my book layout. However, whenever I view it as a PDF in Acrobat, the letter "I" seems to appear bold. This is not the case in InDesign or the AI file. When I zoom in on it in Acrobat, it disappears. Why is this happening, and will it print like that?

Problem in Indesign with converting text to outlines.If I convert the text to outlines, a copy remains with the original text. If you view the pdf in acrobat, you will see that the letters are also bolder. If you then edit the file, you will indeed see 2 layers with texts. Is this a bug?

I have several issues with the Malayalam language used in Kerala, India, particularly because all my work is in Malayalam. When I use the Bullets and Numbering option, the text does not display correctly. Additionally, when I type on a path, many texts and glyphs are missing.

In a document i have inserted a textframe and added myTextFrame into its Script Label.When trying to get it by js using doc.textFrames.itemByName("myTextFrame"); is says the object is invalid.When trying doc.textFrames[0] i get a textframe with label myTextFrame.Having same issues with rectangels -> var rect = doc.rectangles.itemByName(rectName); 

When I'm trying to export an interactive indesign file, it says that "One or more interactive elements are clipped in ways that PDF files cannot reproduce. Those elements will be adjusted in the exported PDF."After this message pop up InDesign software it's get automatically close.What am I supposed to do? How do I find those elements and how do I fix that so they will be reproduced?What does that even mean? I'm so confused.

Hi Experts,   We have some issue where our team having an intermittent issue when opening an InDesign's files, they're doing their workflow via server,the issues was everytime they tries to open a file, they will receive the following error "you may not have permission or the document may be open already", but it will work again on the 2nd attempt, when it closed and re-open, it won't open again, and so on... The problem is happened only on inDesign files and on the network, not other files, and this happens to all users (around 6 users), this actually also working perfectly fine before, what i have done so far, was clear preferences and caches folders multiple times, but obviously, it didn't help.   any solution for this highly appreciated! Hi,I would like to add colours to alternative numbers so that it is easy to read like this:12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) Brackets needs to be where it is placed.Does anyone one know how I can use GREP so that it is applied to the document? I find GREP so hard to understand! Many thanks for your help.

Using InDesign v17.2.1, text typed on a path becomes distorted when converted to outlines. As you'll see in the attached before/after images (overall comparison, detail of problem area), the converted text is mostly okay, but the last few words become almost illegibly small. The characters also become reoriented relative to the path ... some characters are vertical, others upside-down. I've tried changing fonts, creating new documents, and typing on paths of different shapes, but the problem persists. I was hoping that this problem would be addressed in the latest update, but it wasn't.  I'm running Windows 11 v10.0.22000, build 22000.

Hey I am urgently in need of help!I have to print my paper next week and the only thing that is left is correcting the quotation marks.My paper is written in german so "these" quotation marks are mandatory, but sometimes my files uses the french ones «these» and I can't change them.I already changed them in the dictionary in preferences but when I then try to change them in the document they just put the same ones. Sometimes in the document the german ones work, so I try to copy paste them but they change to the french ones again. This is really bugging me especially because the vary over the whole paper and I do not want to print like this.Someone please help.Thank you.

Hi everyone,I’m working with linked text frames in InDesign (v2025) and trying to keep content synchronized across multiple frames. The problem is:Whenever I update the source text, the linked text frame also resets its paragraph style to match the original – but I want each frame to keep its own style (different font, size, etc.). I already tried the “Linked Content Options” and enabled:•☑️ Appearance•☑️ Frame Content•☑️ Warn when local changes are overwritten Still, the paragraph style from the source frame replaces the one in the target, which I don’t want.Maybe somebody having a solution
