InDesign

I've got a page where if I use the 'W' shortcut to switch to Preview and back, the content changes. Just happens to be on a retail press advertisement with pricing and discounts. SCARY. It's confidential at the moment, so cannot share, but have a video I can share when the ad hits the newspapers. I've got a 1 month old Macbook Pro M3 Max with 64gb RAM and an up-to-date version of Sonoma running. It cost me nearly $8,000 and the Indesign experience is hopeless. It's only marginally faster than the 2020 Intel i9 32GB machine that I upgraded and has far more bugs. The upgrade specifically to get better performance in Indesign so far has been a waste of money. Desperately hoping that future releasees of Indesign are compatible with the newest hardware.

Whats the command to type a slash zero (number)?

Hi,I am working on a book. Before the first chapter, I have an imprint and a table of contents. In these two sections, I don’t want any page numbering.When I set the first chapter to start at page one, for some reason they dont stay togheter.  There should be two pages next to each other, not one on its own. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it? 

Share for Review is not showing skewed items as they appear in InDesign  There are a lot of things I like about Share for Review, but it seems like it's not being worked on. One big thing that would help would be the ability to show a slug in SFR.

After adding a paragraph style to the CC Library I can see the style listed. When I select a text frame, then select a CC Library style, the CC Library item highlights but the text box does not take the style. After I click on it (the CC library style) for a third time it applies the style. Not sure why it doesn't take on the first click. Any guidance?

As the subject, my Indesign automatically set any new text box I create to left align even though I'm sure I set the paragraph style is center align - This happens with all the file I open (for license, I just use a brand new IDNN file when recording the video) - Everything in paragraph style in the new text box is correct, except the align.  I tried to check the paragraph tab, object style, deselect all before creating new text box etc. but everything doesn't work. As in the video, when I use edit -> deselect all the paragraph tab turn back to center align as the basic paragraph setting, but when creating new text box it auto turn back to left align. This happens after I uninstalled a normal Western and reinstall an Arabic feature version of IDNN, I wonder if it is the default text box style of Arabic version? Is there any way to fix to center align when creating new text box? The Western version of IDNN I used before worked smoothly for paragraph style.

Long time photoshop user, first time Ive used Indesign for a job, so not sure if this a bug or not.Was just trying to do a quick test print of a couple of pages on a 24" roll of paper and couldnt see how to enter the custom paper size I wanted.  The only way I could get the desired value in window A was to save it as a preset in the print driver window C, then it shows up in the dropdown on window A. If I just entered the paper size in windows C (as normally would in photoshop) after clicking OK the only option I get on window B is to print (and that just comes up with an error) , I cant seem to get back to the Indesign print dialogue A from window B with the new values for paper size. Is there a way to disable the window B which seems to be some part of Windows 11 ? Or is this a Bug?

Bonjour à tous, Depuis la mise à jour de Sequoia, je rencontre des problèmes pour la gestion de l'afficheage et l'export des images, dans indesign, photoshop et after effect. Lorsque je mets le mode l'affichage de qualité supérieur, mes images apparaissent avec des bandes de couleurs, comme si elles etaient déteriorée ou corrompues. Si je les ouvre sur photoshop pour vérifier c'est identique alors qu'elles étaient correctes encore la semaine dernière.Cela se produit également lors de l'export en pdf pour l'impression. J'ai cherché sur intenet mais je ne trouve rien.J'ai essayé d'installer des versions ultérieures mais cela ne change rien.Je suis desespérée! Unfortunately, I don't have access to a big printing facilities - so, can anyone suggest (most common) folding patterns?    Something linke this:    TIA   

I have turned off every spell check feature except mispelled words and it still takes 5 to 8 minutes of the CSWOD to check 50 pages. This is on a Mac Studio that blows through every other ID process like butter. Yes, I've complained before when this was a 1,200 page document, but now that document is a book of documents around 50 pages each. I'd be satified and would shut up under 2 conditions: Either tell us why this should take so long, or fix it so it doesn't.

Does anyone know when or if the Share for Review function will be improved? It's really good, but there are a few functions that are missing. For example, being able to share a single spread only, or being able to sign a document off. 

I often work on ducuments with hundreds of hyperlinks, but I find if the hyperlinks have the 'Shared Hyperlink Destination' checked it causes issues when copying elements from different files. It would be really handy to have an icon in the hyperlinks panel to easily see if a hyperlink is shared, like ther is in the links panel when a link is missing or modified, rather than having to open hundreds of hyperlinks individually and uncheck them.Curious to know if this feature would be helpful to anyone other than myself.Or perhaps it would be better is all hyperlinks defaulted to have Shared Hyperlink Destination' unchecked. 

Hi there, I am working on an existing design job in Indesign which uses the font ATF Franklin Gothic however it has an error saying "Unable to Install InDesign. Sorry, InDesign won't run on your OS. To continue you'll have to upgrade" I'm using macOS Mojave version 10.14.6 and wondered if there is a way I can use this font without having to purchase it on ATF website for NZ$291 just for four of the fonts in the ATF Franklin Gothic Family. I only need it for this one job which will be finishing in 5 weeks. I have tried other versions of Franklin Gothic but they don't appear to be the same which I need, as this work will be printed next to previous work. On the Adobe support page it states: Support for macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) has been discontinued. Installing the 20.x versions on macOS 11.0 or older isn't possible. Thanks for your help with this query. 

I have been using InDesign for over a decade, and now, all of a sudden, I am not getting input options for page range whenever I go to export. I can select All Pages or Range, but Range doesn't open up to input (page number) options. WTF?!?!? I have already uninstalled and restarted my Mac, but to no avail.

Hi, everyone, I am a graphic designer at a small business and I'm trying to do a catalog design - but I am running into an issue when splitting my spreads into pages so that I can output them for the printer. The majority of the catalog is fine but the table of contents completely loses most of its content so that the result is basically an empty page (screenshots included). Does anyone know why this is happening/have a fix? The only reason I can think of is that I have my page numbering order altered so that the main page count starts at the table of contents as page 1, however, I have used this catalog file with this exact same page numbering setup before and it has not been an issue previously. Help?

I have been working on getting my styles in Word to match my InDesign styles. This way when I put my word document into my InDesign file it goes smoothly. I have most of it narrowed down now. There are two things that puzzle me that I can’t figure out. I will only talk about the one right now. When I import my Word document into InDesign the hyphenate is on. I don’t want the document to be imported with the hyphenate on.How can I make sure that it imports and hyphenate is turned off after it gets imported?

I can't find help on this anywhere.I want to make a boxset of series novels. I did this before by pulling all final files into Scrivener, and compiling those as one document/book, then importing/placing it into a new ID template.Problem is, the books I'm working on have been updated in ID, and the final files are now ID files.I tried using the move pages, and get an error with ebookexport and section plugins.I tried using the book template, and using the plus to add them as documents with the same result.I looked for those plugins, but couldn't find them.Notably, I am using the last 19 version of ID, because the 2025 versions kept crashing and no one could figure out how to help me. Nothing worked. So I rolled back to 19 and it stopped crashing. Problem is, I have some files created in 2025 version and have had to save them as 2024 version to get to them again, and now, this problem with combining books files into a series boxset.Is there some trick to this I haven't found?

Often I receive "print ready" art from clients to print who do not know how or what bleeds are which lead me to get creative with their stuff.  Sometimes I can just place the image and expand the image box and run Text to Image to automatically generate decent bleeds.  Other times it seems nothing I try will probably add acceptable bleeds to it.  Is there an actual text prompt I can type it so the AI can understand that I want actual bleeds added?

Rookie with great tech skills, just funny know best so and process. Any suggestions welcome.  

Hi everyonefor the past couple of weeks, InDesign has been crashing all the time, 4-5 times a day, even though I haven't changed anything on my computer. Yesterday I installed the update and was hoping it would fix it, but today the same thing happened twice. Is there a bug? Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi, I am at the end of my book project and have prepared my books for export using a PDF preset from the printer (FM_Text_FOGRA52). For some reason, on the first page, it includes some of the graphics from page two. If I export without the PDF preset ([PDF/X-1a:2001]), this doesn’t happen. As you can also see in the image below, there is nothing on page one, so I don’t understand why this is happening when I export it. Is this a common issue? Why might this be happening? Thank you very much!    

This is driving me nuts now!What I'm trying to achieve is from a start up script that has an afterOpen eventListener then adds a afterSelectionAttributeChanged eventListener (I'm not sure if this is the best thing to use?) to each document that is opened. This would then check any images that are placed for their itemLink. However I'm getting an error message come up saying cannot handle request because a model dialog or alert is active. I don't have anything active. Strange thing is if I put an alert after the 'var doc = app.activeDocument;' line that breaks the script the script then works. Can anyone please explain what's happening? Hi, I want to publish an interactive magazine online for a final year college project. Im under a big time crunch so if anyone could get back to me asap it would be very appreciated. It has a lot of interactive elements eg videos, popups, clickable linkts etc so I dont think that the interactive pdf will work.  I would love for the pages to "flip" and also be responsive so that a two page spread is shown on a desktop, but only one page is shown on a mobile screen/ tablet screen. Is there a way for me to do this easily? I also would love to host it on my own website or have its own domain eg "magazinename.com", is this possible too? I have heard of using in5 but unfortunately the cost is an isssue for me. Is there any free or cheap places i can do all these things?? Please let me know! -Keylah
