Hello, I have a folder with 100 txt files ( unicode text ) and an Indesign file ( .indd file ) I need to:1. open Indesign file2. get all txt files in folder to indesign3. merge them and record all text files4. save indesign files with the text files names as indd and pdf in a folder Is that possible to do? Thank you

Hi everyone !Here I wanna make a Watering timetable (schedule) for each of my 6 Classes1- Each Class is divided into 2 groups : Group 01 and Group 02 with a LIST of NAMES2- Schedules (8h to 9h, 9h-10h, 8h-10h (sometimes for merged cells) , 10h-11h, 11h-12h, 10h-12h (sometimes for merged cells))3- Days from monday to saturdayCan someone help please with Screenshots or Excel sheet ! IMAGES below:

I use a laptop and things are fine. However, when I move my window onto my second (much larger, so I can see) monitor, I can't move objects the same.  When I click using the selection tool and attempt to move the object and/or text, the selected object randomly jumps to a location left and down from where my cursor is.  If I move the window back to my laptop, it works fine again.  Help! This is hard to explain and I'm not super technologically inclined.   All I know is I've been using this same laptop and second monitor for over a year and now, all of a sudden, it's decided not to work the same.

I cannot see any previous questions on this.  I'm increasigly opening older CC ID files. And increasingly seeing the same problem. When it's opening them it's locking nearly all if not all of the text frames on the page.  This has been happening to be for the past few revisions of ID. But it seems to be getting worse.  Obvious answers out the way.Thay are not on locked frames or locked object or master page items.  The only way I can edit the text frames is to highlight the copy and copy and paste it into a whole new text frame on page. Then I can edit the copy. This isn't a one off. It's happening quite often now on older files. I would say 3 out of 10 old files opened.  Any ideas or is this a bug.  thx!

Is there a way to create a master TOC for the top of the document showing both chapter headings and subheadings, and create separate chapter TOC's which shows just the subchapters within that chapter?

Please help if possible - I posted yesterday but cannot find the post. I am redesigning an InDesign document from another designer, and I am unable to use some of the fonts he used so I am replacing the fonts. The Replace Fonts feature will not replace certain fonts (Gotham) and so I tried to do it manually. Now I am unable to replace this or other fonts at all. This is a large document so it would be best not to have to recreate it from scratch!Thanks!

In picture 1, you can see that the page number is oddly printed on the inner corner instead of the outer corner. When I export the design file into PDF, all the page number is correctly on the outer corner. Here is my step of exporting: File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print) When I send to the printing house, I told them to print in perfect bound. This is meant to be printed in perfect bound. The reason why I didn’t go to File > Print Booklet is because the pages are not matching with each other in the preview. Any solutions?

I'm having problems moving the image in InDesign v20.1, when I click on the image it immediately moves the area away from the cursor, this makes it difficult to move to a specific place I need, both for image and text, and I'm not able to drag the pages and change their position, I've already uninstalled it, switched to other older versions but I'm still having the same problem, what could it be? 

I have searched and have not found the correct answer. I am banging my head with this one.  What I am trying to do is export individual pages as separate jpgs after a data merge. I need each file to have a unique name that is populated using a text frame with a data field labeled "FileName" and a style applied to it called FileName. What is happening is, I get the 3 unique files with the correct data for each. However, when it  saves it is only pulling the "FileName" from page 1 for all 3 pages. FileName.jpgFileName2.jpgFileName3.jpg I need each one to have the unique FileName field for identification and distribution sorting. There will be a little over 5k files that I don't want to hand name. Below is my current script. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hello, I am in need of a script to help export pages of different web sizes to jpeg with the File name + websize name. Examples: Job123_Email_600x300.Jpeg  | Job123_web_1200x700.JpegI have each page within indesign built according to the size of the web. Hello, I have a specified CMYK process colour palette in an Illustrator file that I'd like to match with an Indesign file. I saved the palette as a .ase file and imported it into InDesign.  When I copy artwork from Illy and paste into InDesign, it automatically adds a duplicate swatch of the exact same colour (plus the tints) instead of adhering to the specified swatch. I'd like to keep this neat, and be ale to adjust colours from the palette globally.  My colour spaces are the same, and synchionrised using Design Bridge. Does anybody know what might be causing InDesign to duplicate them? Thanks P.S. Export and place is the normal process, but on this occassion Id like to be able to edit the layout and content in InDesign. It's a raft of pie charts that cannot be made in InDesign.

Whenever I click on an object in Indesign, whether it's a text box or an image or a rectangle, it shifts to a random direction very slightly and I have to undo it to have it go back in place. I'm only clicking to update the shape of something or the position or the style or the text but it involuntary shifts the location for me whether it's up, down, left, right. Why might this be happening? The same thing happens when I use my trackpad and my mouse. I am certain there is a problem or a misconfigured setting in my Adobe Indesign. I have also reinstalled Indesign and also installed an older version yet it continues. This problem does not happen on other Adobe programs that I have used. I've also recently switched to a new macbook, my previous macbook did not have this problem. MacOS version: Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71)Indesign version: 19.1

I'm currently artworking translation documents in Arabic and would like a simple script to change all the text boxes in the document to read from right to left? They are now reading from left to right based on the english text. Does this exisit for InDesign? 

Hello, community! I have an issue after changing the CHARACTER STYLE/FONT; from a sans to a sans serif font; which causes the changes of the text frames. Usually, when there is overwritten text, it will be highlighted, with a "+" symbol. However, it is not happening this time.  On the Preflight Panel, it shows 1 error, and I click the #1 nothing is selected/happened; after I duplicated the page(because I have two background colors on my page setting for the design), it changes to 2 errors with a #3; click on them and nothing happens again. Is it weird? If I duplicate ONE error, then it should be 2 x One error, right? What I've tried so far:1. I have backup my old document and I try to find out where are the error. The error appears after I edit that character style, so I believe it's the text issue. That's why I try to find it out in my "txt" layer. So I have tried deleting the whole text frame. Unfortunately, the error is still there even if it is just a blank page(see

Is there a script somewhere that allows you to move all contents from 1 layer to antoher? ex.. Layer 1 to Defalut? I have a script that creates a layer and adds a text frame to it but i cannot figure how to move everyting from that frame to a different one. Thanks as usualChris

How do I increase the gap between the title and the text? 

Hi due to computer problems where I had to send my computer that has capability to run InDesign to the tech store for repair, I had to upload my InDesign file to Adobe Express to keep working on it. Now I have my Windows PC back, I want to upload the Adobe Express design back into InDesign to keep working on it. My google search says to upload it as a PDF which makes me concerned since it isn't a design format, will it interfere with the quality of the design? Would it be better to keep working in Adobe Express to finish the book? I really want it in InDesign to use ruler guides as in the attached screenshot to ensure everything is lined up exactly right. Eg, I want the headings on each page to be in exactly the same place on each page. With Adobe Express, I've had to hold a ruler against my screen which feels really imprecise.  I hope you can help. I always try to self-resolve with Google/Adobe online info first but I really appreciate your real-life expe

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a strange issue in Adobe InDesign. When I try to move a selection or frame, as soon as I click and hold, it suddenly jumps far to the right of my cursor. If I drop it outside the page, it gets stuck and blocked. I’ve tried resetting preferences, checking snap/grid settings, re-installing InDesign, but nothing has worked so far. Please see the attached video for a better explanation. Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions would be appreciated!Thanks in advance!

I am dealing with the 'failed to export to PDF' error - however I have gone through all the possible solutions including saving as IDML, checking all missing links/fonts, exporting smaller sections at a time. It changes which page it has an error with every time, and even if I delete all the content from that page - it says it still has an error with them. The only thing I can find is when I try to package the file it says there is only missing font, however this is on a different page, but all it doesn't say the name of the missing font and just says '???'  If i take the content into different indesign files and export smaller sections, sometimes it works - sometimes it takes an issue with random pages again. Please help?

Hi community,   I created some text boxes and added some a fill gradient property. My client requested to leave some room on the left side of the box for an icon. However, "Bottom" , "Left", and "Right" settings are blocked along with the chain icon at the center.   The only setting available to adjust is the Inset which affects all sides as equals. The only workaround I found was creating new text boxes and going to the "Text Frame options" pop-up box, which is time-consuming. Do you know why that happens?   Thanks!     <Title renamed by MOD>

Sometimes the table is too long, even several pages, you need to exclude the header, continuation, and end of the table, dragging and selecting may be your best way, but it is still a bit cumbersome and troublesome.What's the best way to do this?Or a script that selects only the cells in the columns that have the body style applied to them.After selecting a column, you can perform many operations, and then selecting a row is faster! Thank you very much.(Attachments available) 

This green arrow had no blue dotted line around it until I hyperlinked it to an external web page. You can see from the screen grab shows that its box has no stroke applied to it. Any thoughts on why InDesign is imparting this unwanted dotted line? Thank you in advance! 

Good afternoon, comunity,I am trying to help a friend create a table where data will be pulled from an Excel spreadsheet. The Excel spreadsheet looks as follows:Report Number Date Title Recommendation Number Recommendation Text Funds      Please see the attached picture for reference.The outcome should be sorted based on the last five characters of the report number (in descending order), and the date (in ascending order). Additionally, the data should be grouped based on the Report Number, Date, and Title. Finally "open Recommendations and Potential Monetary Benefits" as seen in the picture should be repeated on each page. Hi, Has anyone seen this? It happened when I dragged the panel into the dock. Now, it's stuck like this. It's perfectly useable, but just a bit annoying. It appears like this no matter which workspace I use. The panel is a specialised one from a company I work with, but it has been fine up until now. I'm on a Mac with InDesign 2023 (client required). Thanks in advance, Karen
