Hello! I really hope someone can help me.My end goal is to make a PDF of an Indesign book file that has been re-ordered for perfect bound signatures with 16 pages in each. In the past I've been able to do this through Print Booklet --> Create a PostScript File with all my settings --> then save it as a PDF from there. My problem is, I'm on a new computer now and I cannot customize page sizes or options for post script files (It's an 8.5x11 file but the PostScript file always comes out portrait orientation and cuts off part of the book (Basically won't rotate)I tried the "Solution" where you create a PPDs folder in the Presets of Indesign and then download ADPDF9.PPD . It does not work for me for an unknown reason, I still only see "Device Dependent" under PPD Options.Please help!

I have a file with several hyperlinks imported from a Word document. Is there a ways to export a list of all the hyperlinks that includes the source, the destination (url, email, location) and the page the source appears on in the InDesign file? Something similar to the Hyperlinks panel with the destination viewable in a list. Exported file can be text or csv. I don't script so am not sure if this can be done or may already exist. Working in InDesign CC 2015.2 Release. OS: Windows 8, V. 6.3.Every time I try to open the Effects dialog box, it opens on my primary screen and only shows the bottom half of the window. I can't move the window by grabbing and moving it with my mouse; I've tried more configuration changes than I can even recall, and absolutely nothing is allowing me to move this window so I can see the whole thing.Any suggestions? I literally cannot use the effects because I can't see the entire dialog box to make selections. It's driving me bonkers.

Hi there I was hoping to find a fix for this. I have noticed when placing a document from Microsoft Word into Indesign all images, when exported to pdf, turn blue. Is there a way around this or do I have to first save all images  from the Word document into a folder and add them as seperate links?  Thank you

I am working on a catalog with around 700 text hyperlinks to web URLs that I inserted by hand which is a tedious and time consuming process. I first had the part with the hyperlinks in a separate document for easier management. When the linking was finished I copied the whole text with the links over into the layout of the final catalog. After that I noticed that a substantial part of those links was missing for no apparent reason and with no system behind it. I had to fix those links in the layout. I typically regularly save numerbed versions of my layouts to document my progress. Now I notice that again a huge part of the links is gone simply by saving the document into a new version. What is going on there?   <Title renamed by MOD>

I've had lots of problems with InDesign's Table of Contents generator, but this is a new one! In addition to the correct page number of where the heading appears in text, the tool added another tab and then the page number of the Table of Contents itself. Has this happened to anyone else and do you know how to fix? Photo attached, the black bars were added by me. Running InDesign 20.0.1 on Mac Sonoma 14.7.2

Hello I'm running the latest InDeisgn 2025 on a macbook pro (Apple M1 Pro) and have noticed that my force paragraph return shortcut is not working.  And it's only this one shortcut from what I have experience. It's been like this for many months now, and I've been using the dropdown menu to select this manually which takes up a little time. I've tried restarting InDesign while holding down Shirft + Control + Option + Command but this has not affected anything. Also, I'm not sure how I would check for conflicting shortcuts from other software (such as Webex).Any suggestions?Thanks

I am a beginner. Following a well-done tutorial. Snag....the paragraphs line up perfectly right side and on the spine side until the last sentence at the end of the paragraph example.sort                  better                                end.        I am hoping someone can advise me on how to fix this.

Hello, I'm working with Indesign 20.0.1 on a Macbook Pro 14" 2024 and Sequoia 15.1.1.Please find bellow fullscreen shots that describe the problem.01 : I'm working with a 3840x2160 HDMI external monitor.02 : I'm often using the shortcut Shift+W to see the current page in presentation mode.03 : When I'm pressing again the shortcut to exit fullscreen, Indesign's window is reduced,and I have to extend it to fit again the screen (shot 01).It also happens on my old Macbook Pro laptop.This is wasting time in my workflow, does anyone work with the same setup and an external monitor to see if this happens too.Thanks!!!       

How do I achieve continuous numbering for my Figures when the figure captions are in individual text boxes?  I set up my Figure paragraph style to be a numbered list starting with the word "Figure". But the numbering starts over in every individual text box (as shown in the image).  I've explored anchoring the objects to the page, but this requires that I format the figure IN LINE with other text. What I like about the individual text box is, I can position it anywhere on the page, allowing for more design flexibility with my images. 

how do I alter the position of the text in the text field when exporting to a PDF? 

what would be the standrd size margins I would use for a book?

in adobe indesign 2025, when i use Adobe Arabic font, i found a problem that some of full stop glyph"." not appears in the final PDF file. need to slove this problem. 

Bonjour,J'ai créé un style de paragraphe avec une numérotation comme ceci : Tableau ^# alors à chaque tableau le numéro se met automatiquement. Tout fonctionne sur mon gabarit 8 1/2 X 11, mais lorsque j'arrive à mon gabarit 11 x 17, il repart au Tableau 1. De plus, j'ai 3 tableaux sur ma page 11 X 17 et ils sont tous nommés Tableau 1. I couldn't find scripts to reduce the number of character and paragraph styles, and parent pages across multiple documents without reducing unused styles I might need later which were in use in other book documents. I found a few scripts and community posts that would reduce the style or parent page by comparing only within one document at a time. What I couldn't find were scripts to iterate through a set of documents and keep styles or parents in use across all documents and remove the unused across all open documents. So I tried my hand at authoring scripts with help from an LLM. My goals in these scripts are in context of managing book documents and combining various documents and then reducing clutter. Hello, A customer has contacted me with a problem they are experiencing in InDesign. They are three users who all use Mac and they work against a file server on a Mac Mini, the files that they open and work with are located on this said file server on their office network. They currently use InDesign version 20.0.1 but have experienced this problem for 2+ years. The problem that sometimes occurs is that when one user has closed an InDesign file (.indd) the other two cannot open this file and it says that it is locked/read-only. However user 1 who had the file open has closed it completely. To get around this they have to resave the file with a new name and this is frustrating and risky for them if they happen to open an old file and work in it believing that it is the current latest version

Hallo liebe Community,  ich habe kürzlich einige Schriften aktiviert,bzw. wollte sie aktivieren. Die Aktivierung liegt jetzt in den Hintergrundaufgaben, wird aber einfach nicht abgeschlossen, wodurch ich aktuell keine Exporte mehr machen kann. Ich habe bereits auf allen möglichen Wegen versucht die Aufgabe abzubrechen, sei es InDesign schließen und neu öffnen, Computer neu starten und Version updaten. Sobald ich InDesign neu starte ist die Hintergrundaufgabe wieder da. Weiß jemand eine Lösung? Ich bin für jede Hilfe dankbar 🙂

Hi there, I need to scale down Grouped objects on a layer in Indesign. How can I target this in a script. Layer is called "Layer 1" objects are called "Group 0" to "Group 9". Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Steve

Hello,I've created some manual hyperlinks in my document by selecting  text, then select new hyperlink from the hyperlinks panel, and paste the destination in dialog box as you can see in the screenshot.The hyperlink was created, it's working and can be edited but will not show in the hyperlinks pannel (see screedshot).Info:Mac, OS Mojave 10.14.6InDesign 15.0.2 (Middle Eastern) Any idea why? Hallo, ich arbeite bisher mit der Datenzusammenführung von InDesign. Leider erkennt InDesign seit einigen Wochen nicht mehr alle Spalten meiner txt-Datei. Die Ursprungsdatei in Excel hat deutlich mehr Spalten.InDesign hört einfach nach 7-8 Spalten auf, die weiteren Überschriften anzuzeigen.Kann mir hier bitte jemand weiterhelfen?Vielen Dank schon mal!  

Hello guys, i have a very annoying problem with my .eps files (math equations exported from Word document with Mathtype) on my Mac studio M2 (running Sonnoma 14.3.1). If i import them into InDesign document or open those .eps files in Illustrator symbol/glyphs disappear. I have tried same process (Word -> MathType export to eps -> place eps files into Indesign document) on my coworkers PC and they show up fine, BUT when i opened them in illustrator where glyph is suppose to be i get the X mark for missing glyph.Screenshot from PC, the one with link not missing (eps was untouched just placed into InDesign). You can also see the one eps (that one has been opened in illustrator) below is missing symbol for multiply. Screenshot what happens if i open it in illustrator on PC (on Mac there is just empty space) If i cant open them in illustrator to edit them that i can live with since i can edit in Word and then export, but if i don't touch them after export and
