InDesign

From what I remember from working on Mac for many years, in InDesign there was an option to call up smart lines with the ctrl key only for a moment, you didn't have to have them on permanently. Now we've moved to Windows and it doesn't work here. Is there a way to turn it on, or is it simply not available in the Windows version of ID? If not, maybe it's worth giving the user such an option somewhere in the options.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Please can someone help me out. I am so fraustrated. I have designed one indesign document with individual pages all with different people and information. (Doc A)I have another indesign doc (Doc B) where I have placed Doc A - and laid 6 up on 1 page all in a specific order. So the artwork is linked. When I make changes to doc A - I expect the changes to filter through to Doc B and keep the correct order of the pages/people. But when I relink - the pages (doc a) change order and mess everything up in Doc B. Not too sure why this is happening? Is there a way to keep the links linking to the same pages - but update artwork.

Can anyone confirm they get the same behaviour? And if you're in the know, could someone explain to me how something so unambiguous as 4 geometric points is being interpreted so strangely?

I want the script to read the value on the filename as the actual setting for the script to run.For example, I have a piece of code. It is used to change the table row height (denoted by bh). I need to create a GREP style for a price with a word that I want nested under the superscript cents.For example, my price is $9.99 EACH. My dollar sign and 99(cents) are superscripted. I want to tuck the EACH underneath the 99 cents. I can't find a way to do this. See below. Please advise! Thank.

This Script is use to convert first row to header, the last row to footer, it delete my content.Sorry, The original post seemed to be posted by me. I have been using CS4 for 12 years on an old 17" Macbook pro that hasn't been online in 9 years so apple can't update the OS. Worked great, however, in order to take in new features I just bought a new iMac running Monterey 12.1. Do you know how to remove fonts from Mac OS or Adobe? I have 390 fonts, over 300 are foreign language. Its brutally inefficient navigating the menus. Its completely an apple issue (I spoke with them and Monerey does not allow removal of fonts by design). This is simply a nightmare. Fonts are not displayed even alphabetically, they are categorized bizarrely. Apple really screwed this one up. Is there a setting in Adobe products that only allows certain fonts to be displayed when using. I primarily use Indesign, but use Illustrator and Photoshop as well?Even better if you know how to delete out of Monterey. Hi! I'm relatively new to InDesign - and I've been having trouble recently. I've been trying to test an effect (opacity) excluslvely on the blue square - but every time I apply the opacity effect, it affects the rest of my image (makes the background look darker, and ruins the text somewhat). Any information would be highly appreciated!

I've had this problem several times. I always either find a workaround or restart everything and it fixes itself but I would really like to figure out the reason so I can fix it permanently. The first issue is that, often, when I create a new shape the shape will automatically have a gradient feather applied to it and I have to go in and change manually. This is not a huge deal but it is annoying and I would like to know how to make it stop.The second issue I have seems to only happen after correcting the first issue, but I am not sure if the two are mutually exclusive. The shape (the same one that defaulted to gradient feather) will not appear as a solid color over-top of other objects. Hello,Since some time, my InDesign became slow on heavy documents (more than ten pages...). This happens specially when I edit some text or any image in the document. As soon as I do some modification, even a small one, the application will start processing and freeze for about 10-30 seconds. On every interaction it happens so it really impact negatively my workflow .  To know, I use this computer since a few years and I often work on "heavy" documents and I never had this issue before. I tried the "IMDL solution" but it doesn't seems to solve the problem. Working on a server or a local file doesn't impact the slowness. While working on my secondary computer, I have the exact same problem. Any ideas on what I should do ? Thank you by advance 

My boss has an issue that when he is opening PDFs made from Adobe inDesign some of the images rotate.  (See image attached.) Has anyone had this happen and any settings I can use at my end or his? I've never had this happen so at a loss as to what to suggest. He wonders if it is to do with pages viewed as a dps, but cant see why. I output as single pages viewd as 'two-up' in Acrobat. I am running latest Adobe CC on an up-to-date iMac. He is opening using Adobe Acrobat PRO on a Windows laptop. thanks

HiFor some reason, running variables in my document is showing British pound symbl.I have attaced a screenshot and also few pages of documents. It is driving me crazy. Why ain't the data showing in document pages.Thanks

Is there any way for 2 or more pages to be visually joined and not vertically separated? In the pasteboard I already reduced the vertical space to zero, and it is certainly at zero, but even so, there is separation, and I require the pages to be together because they have a background image that appears cut off when going to the Presentation mode, and also when sharing the file for review, the image is cut off because it goes from page to page, and the final file is supposed to look together, continuous. The attached images serve only as a sample of the actual file, which is composed of almost 20 pages containing background vector images, generated in Illustrator and linked in InDesign, so that when going to Preview within the software or send the link, almost 20 cuts appear, which also generate a break in the concept, reading, focus etc .... I thought of generating in both Illustrator and InDesign a single file with the dimensions of the almost 20 pages, but Illustrator

As many other I read about inline, I had to change my old pc with a new one and I wasn't able to reinstall my old InDesign CS3 I do use very rarely with old files. My job doesn't require to purchase a subscription. Online activation no longer works, but I was able to install and older Photoshop CS2 because some years ago Adobe let me download an activating free installer. I do have two licensed PageMaker, two InDesign I bought as upgrade and a Photoshop CS2. A dozen years ago I paid almost 4000 euros for those apps and now Adobe's support tells me my licenses is wastepaper. Does anyone have the installer free for InDesign CS3 so I can open my files? I do repeat: I do have two purchased, regular licenses.And don't tell me about "old software bla bla bla", because it worked ok with Win 8.1 and 10, and I don't need a new one as I use it very rarely.Thanks 

I've tried some codes on the internet and they all failed. There doesn't seem to be any online for individual tables.A. I am trying to clear the table style “Preferred Options”.B, cell styles “preferred options”, “non-custom style properties”.C. Paragraph styles “Preferred Options”.D. Just starting to work with this feature and I wondered if these files can be exported with crops and bleeds into Adobe Express so the end user can export to print. 

I am writing a script in vbs for InDesign CS5 in Windows, and cannot find how to clear cell attributes not defined by a cell style in a table. I need this when importing tables from MS Word.

Exporting a reflowable epub, and while I have discovered that epubs will not retain paragraph shading styles how I want, I can't get the workaround right. For context this is my InDesign file: I would like to have a section of text called out with shading. I've inserted the paragraph as an anchored object and set up object styles for the text box to have a fill color. I also set up the epub/html settings to export this at full width: But my epub is coming out like this:  The text is reflowable, but running of the page in the epub file. Any ideas on how to fix this?? Is the anchored object/object styles not the best work around for shading? I'm working only in InDesign, not much CSS knowledge otherwise. Appreciate any help!

This unit of measure is copy/pasted from another doc - mm2. The 2 always needs to be superscript. I have tried looking up grep styles but haven't found a way to make it so that the 2 is superscript. Basically, need to do a find/replace for all mm2 and make it be mm2 (superscripted 2) Is this possible?

Today is the first time my indesign app keeps crashing everytime I open my cloud file. It worked fine yesterday, and now the file will crash the app.
