InDesign

Hi thereOn my Mac, on my external keyboard, I have the function keys assigned in a standard way, so i.e. F10 to F12 for audio volume etc. But this way, when I work in Indesign, I have to press the additional fn key to use the F-shortcuts (i.e. F7 for "View > Show/hide guides".)  This bothers me.Is there a way to have the Function Keys assigned in a way that they work as default when I'm not using an Adobe Application, but as soon as I open Indesign, F7 becomes the standard Indesign shortcut, without having to press the additional fn key ? So in a way, Indesign overrides the MacOS functions, or MacOS makes exceptions for Indesign?(I hope I made it clear, English is not my first language).Thanks and best regards

Hey there   I've been teaching University students some InDesign layout basics and noticed the students with Chinese language versions of InDesign don't appear to have any Snap to Baseline features. Or, at least, there are no options appearing in the Paragraph or Paragraph Styles palettes. Has anyone else encountered this and is there a way to get them to appear? Dear Forum Members,Problem: InDesign won't boot after it's closed. After the program has been uninstalled and reinstalled, the program will start normally. Hi,   I'm having trouble with export to pdf with bleed. When I export the same file from indesign and illustrator, bleeds are just notr the same. I have indesign file with numeration with dimensions 80x150mm + 3 mm bleed and ai file with the same dimensions. When I export to pdf from both programs artboard dimension stays the same but bleed is different.   IDD file:  AI file:   PDF export (first one - Indesign file has actual 3mm bleed and Illustrator file has actual 5mm bleed when printed):     In indesign I use options High quality print and in Marks and in bleeds settings I check the boxes Crop marks and Use document bleed settings. In Illustrator I use export options High quality print and in Marks and in bleeds settings I check the boxes Trim marks and Use document bleed settings. If I save the same file from Illustrator in Indesign than the bleeds are aligned.   Any idea why this problem occurs?<Title renamed by MOD>

Hi - running into an issue when centering text in small text boxes. I'd likely never have noticed if there wasn't a colored fill in the box. It's most noticeable with a longer line of text (see Madeline's box in the sample). When I select the line, it appears that InDesign is adding a space at the end of the name which is throwing it off center (see second image). If I attempt to delete that space, it deletes the paragraph break. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix??  I've been using InDesign for over a decade and have never noticed this before.          <Title renamed by MOD>    

Beim PDF-Export von Idesign kommt folgendé Fehlermeldung: Die eingebettete Schrift SourceSansProBold kann nicht entnommen werden. Einige Zeichen werrden möglicherweise nicht korrekt angezeigt bzw. gedruckt. Wer kann helfen? 

Say i want to change the color ##7862AC to a CMYK variant. When use one of the thousand online converter tools i get this : 30.23%, 43.02%, 0%, 32.55% But.. when i change it in Indesign by  swatches-> swatch options -> colourmode "CMYK" i get: 65%, 68%, 3%, 3%)  Which method is right? (the Indesign version has less colour difference (on screen). thnx

I've noticed that fonts are often missing when I open older ID files. However, when I examine those missing fonts, it's not that the font is missing; it's that the font style, instead of being something like "Regular" or "Bold," is set to either "Custom" or, in the case of the document I just opened, "10pt," in brackets, of course, because there is no "10pt" style.   Does this have something to do with variable fonts? I use ID irregularly throughout the year, so may not be on top of some of the more recent changes. It does seem odd that these files are somehow changing.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi all Need help with Indesign documents exported as accessible pdf files. I've been producing accessible files for a couple of years now without too many problems (always sorted). But recently after lastest updates to Indesign and Acrobat I've found that when opening the pdf file and checking accesibility tags – the document displays No Tags available? The indesign doc I've set style sheets – added H1/H2 etc and P style for output to pdf (originally I used to leave these as default for Indesign to manage) , but nothing arrives in the pdf – I'm having to manually set all styles and tags within acrobat. Frustrating to say the least. Please don't suggest I check the Create tagged pdf in the output to pdf as I have a preset for Accessibles. Any suggestions welcome – life has become tiresome with accessibility lately!

I need to know if there is an option to add language in indesign?Is it done simply by adding a dictionary? If so, where can you get such a dictionary? I need the following languages: Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Thank you in advance for your tips

Bonjour, Lorsque j'importe dans InDesign au-dessus d'un fond sombre (bloc couleur ou tre image)une image transparente venue de photoshop (PSD ou PNG)le fond de l'image importée reste bien transparent à l'écran, de la même teinte que le bloc à l'arrière-plan.Si j'exporte le tout en PDF, le fond de l'image semble toujours parfaitement transparent sur le PDF.MAIS lorsque j'imprime, la transparence est mal gérée : le fond transparent n'est plus invisible, la couleur du fond apparait plus dense, plus éclatante, comme s'il y avait vernis sélectif. Pouvez-vous m'indiquer comment éviter cela, svp ?Merci de votre attention.

Hello, if I want to see any image (pdf, tif, eps etc.) in full quality, then this preview is still the same,  doesn't matter if I choose High Quality, Typical quality or Fast preview. Seem still as Typical quality. Any idea how to solve it? Thank you... Ilja   <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a paragraph style that has a nested style that triggers after a forced line break. What I would like to happen after is if there is something in parentheses WITHIN the nested style section that gets another different style.  I was able to get this to work just using another nested style, but I watched a MAX class that involved GREP styles and wanted to see if I could make it work.  I got as a far as (\s\(.*?)(.\)\s) which changes the parentheses everywhere and this (?<=\n).+ which changes anything after the forced break. I can't figure out the glue that will make it start the search for open parentheses after the break AND the following characters until it finds the parentheses, then change.  Any ideas or should I just stick to nesting styles?

Needing to urgently online publish a document in InDesign but keep getting the 'Document Not Found / The document you requested does not exist...' page. Have troubleshooted, restarted, updated, used different browsers. The problem started approx 1hr ago and I wasn't having trouble online publishing until then. The document also doesn't appear on my Publish Online Dashboard either - so either it's not going through or is automatically deleting. On one attempt it did work and appear as online published then upon refreshing it immediately disappeared with the Document Not Found page. Urgent help please!

I am laying out translations from english to multiple languages. Having completed all the european ones I now move onto Farsi (Persian?). Before I mess it all up im looking for advice.   Are there any special requirements other than using, for instance Adobe Arabic font, setting my paragraph to align right, and using 'Adobe world ready single-line composer'?   I currently have facing pages for my document also also 2 column grids on some pages.    I am importing from a word file also. Hi.I do the layout for an association's journal. They are an association of software developers. In the normal body text, quotes (both single and double) and apostrophes need to be typographers'/curly quotes. In code listings, they need to be straight. This is in a single article (file).No matter which option I have for default, the whole lot becomes that variety when pasted. Finding and replacing seems to replace with whatever the default is, no matter what I type in the 'replace'. This is a real problem because I have to find, select and replace manually with a keyboard shortcut. I then have to repeat the exercise if for any reason I cut/copy/paste a chunk elsewhere. And I miss some.With FrameMaker, I could paste as straight (the default), put one into 'curly', then step through a find/replace exercise. It took 4 passes of a file (left single, right single, left double, right double) but was still quicker than having to visually select and manually type the replacement. Wha

Nachdem meine Kollegen und ich gestern unsere M1-Macbook Pros auf macos Ventura 13.3 aktualisiert haben, erhalten wir ALLE beim Öffnen von InDesign-Dateien aus dem Creative Cloud Files-Order die Fehlermeldung… Fehlender erforderlicher Parameter "from" für Methode "open" PDF-Dateien werden ebenfalls nicht mehr im Acrobat geöffnet. Acrobat öffnet sich, die „Zuletzt verwendet“-Liste ist leer… und mehr passiert nicht! Da dieser Fehler offenbar vor Jahren schon mal auftrat, haben wir die Lösungsansätze dazu bereits ausprobiert (Programm zum Öffnen neu zuweisen, Zugriffsrechte kontrollieren) – ohne Erfolg! InDesign und Acrobat liegen in der aktuellsten Version (18.2.1.455 und 23.001.20093) vor.Die Dateien öffnen ohne Probleme über den Datei > öffnen-Dialog aus den Programmen heraus, aber das kann allenfalls ein kurzfristiger Workaround sein und nicht für Programme, für die wir monatlich hunderte von Euro ausgeben!

I have an ID document created by another. The stray line at the bottom of the table cannot be selected, dragging the bottom of the table will not hide it, but instead hides the table rows. It appears embedded. Does anyone know what is causing it and how I can remove it? Thanks much!       <Title renamed by MOD>

No me funciona el atajo "comando + alt/mayúsculas" en InDesign para redimensionar una imagen/objeto. Llevo toda la tarde buscando soluciones por internet pero no encuentro nada. ¿Alguien tiene alguna idea de como solucionarlo? Gracias

Hello everyone, quite a newbie here.    I'm creating a timeline that is split into 3 pages.  I'm adding text boxes for the centuries and one of them falls in between 2 pages.  Is there a way to have the text centered like the other boxes, but split correctly in the different pages?  The page wil be cut where the black dashed line is. Hi There I've published online before with no issues, but for this document, none of my buttons appear. The rollover does not display and the inter-document linking does not work.
