InDesign

I want to place an excel spreadsheet into my InDesign file. In the place dialog box/formatting section I selected the Table: Formatted Table but the next dropdown menu for Table Style: is grayed out so I can't select the table style. I have been able to do that in the past. Is it a bug? I have been playing around with it some and I find if I click on the table style on the panel in the interface BEFORE I go to the Place dialog, that table style will be pre-populated in the Table style dropdown, but only that style. (I have three table styles in the document).

My team uses InDesign books all the time so multiple people can work on a project simultaneously. Books are supposed to only allow one person to open each file within the book. If someone already has a file open, the book is supposed to show a lock icon next to that file and no one else can open it. However, this week, InDesign has stopped doing this. It allows us to open a file in the book even if someone already has that file open. Instead of making the file read-only like the few previous times we've had this problem, InDesign allows both people to edit and save their changes, and makes a new duplicate file when saving the second person's edits. This is a very frustrating problem, because we now have to check ourselves if someone else has each file open - which InDesign is supposed to do and has always done before - and manually re-merge duplicate files. Hi,This is a 2c colour book; open the PDF file because black does not appear on PDF files. Only pantone colours are presented. However, simulate overprinting in the separation preview to PDF files and visible black colour. How to fix the issues. Please check and advise. I have attached screenshot for your reference.   

I am working on a book with fairly complex documents. InDesign was running slow and was crashing, so somewhere while working on the book I had to reset my preferences. All the documents in the book were still pretty slow/laggy, but I figured that was just because they had a lot going on (many different styles, images, cross-references, captions, etc.). But now I think the problem is with the book itself. Today I worked on a new chapter, and InDesign worked quickly and smoothly for the entire layout. When I was nearly finished doing the layout, I realized I had forgotten to add the document to the book file, so I went ahead and added it at the end. I updated all numbers for the book, and then when the numbers finished updating I went back in to do a final lookover and fix any mistakes. Performance immediately dropped to barely a crawl. Indesign CS5 MacHave a lage document with portraits - 1 of the portraits needs to come out and need to shift them over. In Quark you could copy and past image into another image box and get same scale and X&Y location. I have tried the direct selection tool copied the image and paste into the empty box next to it but the scale is off. Is there a work around this in Indesign.

Any suggestions on how to make this work properly? The code like it is, the maxvlue of scrollbar shows nothing and my array of items (which has 50 elements) shows up to #40. While working on a project, I made sure to fit the red, yellow and light-red boxes right next to each other. However, when I export to PDF this alignment is off. In my picture, on the left you can see they fit perfectly. On the right side you can see the PDF-version, where there is somehow a sliver of the bark-red background picture visible.This is not the only place in my document where this happens, but there are also places where the PDF does show the perfect alignment from my indesign document. Because this document is meant for printing and I need to deliver it to the printers as a PDF, I need this sliver of background to not show up in the final product.  I would love some tips on how to make sure my alignment sticks while converting to PDF

Hi folksI am currently researching about the scripting capabilities of InDesign. Actually I want to know whether I can run a script in InDesign to do a feature that is not supported by InDesign. For example I want to add character limit and format to a form field created in InDesign. But it is not possible in InDesign. Is there any way I can do it using scripts?

Hello, I'm pretty new to InDesign and I can't seem to fix my page number issue. At first a few page numbers were missing. I tried to follow a few videos and couldn't fix the issue. Now I have opened my book and all the numbers are missing. I don't understand how to fix it. I've tried everything. Thankyou for any help julie

I am moving a document from Google docs to InDesign. That's because my 50 page Word document which is 20 mb, gives me the spinning wheel of death every time I try to copy text from it (a whole other problem)! So I moved the whole thing to Google Docs. But now, I am getting this, the text not touching the right side.  I have googled for a long time and can't find this exact problem. Any help is appreciated! 

How can I change the font in all cells of a table at once? Minion Pro is a horrible font and my client wants their brand font in every cell but it seems like I have to change each cell one by one. This is not efficient and I can't seem to figure out how to change the font for the entire table.

I have a document where I juggle two languages thru keeping the text boxes for the two languages in difference layers. However, when a text frame (in this case the caption for a picture) is of different sizes for the two languages (layers) I would like the text to wrap around this frame only when it is visible.At present I have to set the smaller frame (for the language which has a shorter picture description) to text wrap around and then for the other language I have to make manual line breaks to make space for the lager text frame for the caption (because if I switch on text wrap for that frame, this text wrap will also be active when I hide this layer (language A) and show the other layer (language B).An alternative (which is used in the attached file) is to let the space for the caption be the same for both languages, but this creates a white space in the language B version. Is it a way to set the properties for the text wrap of a frame so that it is only active when the

Is it possible to limit a line to display a fixed number of full-width characters (punctuation also counts as a full-width character).I've tried squeezing with punctuation and it's very difficult. My keyboard shortcuts are no longer working in the 2024 update, even after resetting preferences. Help!

I'm trying to create a booklet from InDesign, but when I try to select "Save as PDF" from print booklet I get an error that says this is not supported. I'm on a relatively new mac, with the newest version of InDesign CC.I tried a workaround and saved as a Postscript file, with the idea of opening it in Preview or Acrobat and saving as a PDF from there. When I went to save the Postscript file, the Setup dialog box would not allow me to specify anything:However, the print booklet preview looked okay, so I went ahead and saved it. It should be a booklet with the spreads trimmed out of an 11x17 page, but when I open it in both Preview and Acrobat, it shrinks to fit an 8.5x11 page. Because I can't specify the size when saving (see screenshot above), I don't know how to change this. The actual size of the InDesign document is the correct size — one spread fits on an 11x17 with crop marks.Basically, my questions boil down to this:- How can I save my document as a file with imposed spreads?- W

Question as subject, I try to adjust the image frame in table graphic cell, but the cell will follow the frame size and auto adjusted the cell itself. Is there any way the cell not to follow the image frame adjustment, i try fixed row and colume size but the cell size still being adjusted following the image frame.

Hello, everyone.I'd just like to ask if it's recommended to copy directly from Illustrator to InDesign.I am working on some vector shapes that I need to use for my book layout.Would it be recommended to directly copy-paste or do I have to save it as .PNG?Thanks a lot.

Every time I use any Adobe software I have to deal with the insanely annoying boxes that try to teach me how to use basic features that I've been using for years. I'm not an idiot and don't need Abobe to explain how to use these things every single time  I open the program. How can I turn these off for all Adobe programs? It makes for a poor user experience. 

Hi all,I'm subscribed to Ind3esign 2024. The program is not defaulted to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer, as I've read is the case with other users, and when I select it and change the keyboard to Arabic, it does not work, showing the characters as rectangles. Most of my documents will require both Arabic and English. Has anyone faced this issue before? Are there any additional steps I need to take first after selection in order for it to work? Thank you.

Within the last few weeks whenever InDesign has force quit itself, my custom workspace resets (I lose default swatches I set, lose my preset font, hyphenate turns back on, lose my balance ragged lines, overprint is checked on) & end up with InDesign's defaults. Even if i click "Reset Workspace" it just makes sure I have all of my tools in the same order. I'm super annoyed, have tried restarting & reinstalling with no luck but to manually go through all of them again. Anybody else having this issue?
