I'm talking about this tab, above the pasteboard where it just shows the file name and then that whole area is emtpy to the far edge:  If I could hide that it would give me a little extra viewing room, which is important on my laptop.Thanks!

I make wine menus and I'm creating a template using GREP styles that will allow me to copy and paste a full menu from Excel into InDesign with character styles applied to all the right bits so they can be quickly personalised. I got it working perfectly on the prices, but on the wine descriptions which appear on the line after prices, I'm having no luck. Here's basically what it looks like for a single wine: Wine Name Here     £2.50     £5.50     £8.50     £20.00Wine description text here. I'm trying to make it locate the description line by having it first find a price (£\d+.\d+) followed by a carriage return (~b), then start applying the character style (\K) to any set of characters till the end of the paragraph (.+\r) I'm sure this should work, and it works just fine if I use this code in GREP find & replace instead, but it just won't apply it as a GREP style. How to search text in indd files, without opening it?  have atleast 50 files, & need to search words in the file, everytime I have to open all 50 indd files, and then using its find dialog box (search all documents) i get my work done. but opening 50 files every time is very much crazy. Do we have any solution for that?

It activates again InDesign.You have to push Alt+Tab+Tab Same thing happen if you close the window in the InDesign and want to go to Active folder by alt+tab it doesn't work. You have to push twise (Alt+Tab 2x) For lots of users will not found this as issue (they work always with mouse) -- however these slows down the work quite when you work with lot's of kayboard shortacts. I hope you could solve the issue. Primera vez publicando aquí.  Verán, creé un documento interactivo donde coloqué 3 botones en una imagen que, al clicar, aparece una ventana emergente con información, que a su vez tiene un botón con una "x" para cerrar esa misma ventana emergente. Cada "ventana emergente" la organicé en una capa diferente, por lo que tengo 3 capas que contienen la imagen/video emergente + el botón que cierra esa ventana.  El problema es que cuando tengo 2 capas activas (Screen_cityline y PopUpVideo), los botones de "cerrar" sirven perfectamente de ambas capas. Pero al activar la 3er capa (Laminados_cubierta) de mi última ventana emergente, tanto en el preview como en Publish Online sólo sirve el botón de "cerrar" de esa capa, y los de las otras capas ya no. Es decir, puedo abrir y cerrar "Laminados_cubierta" pero sólo puedo abrir y NO cerrar las otras 2 ventanas emergentes. Según yo, las acciones de los botones están correctamente desglosados, pero no sé c

I created a Burmese manual to be written with Burmese unicode enconding and found an error on the texts to be generated by Section Marker and Running Header features.<figure 1><figure 2>Problem is:In figure 1, the blue-colored box is the heading to be input directly and the red-colored box is the bookmark to be generated automatically by the Section Marker feature.  In figure 2, the red-colored box (upper one) is the heading to be generated automatically by the Running Header feature. The blue-colored box is correctly displayed but the red-colored boxes are represented INCORRECTLY. I tried to change a few of settings such as the fonts to fix it, but there was no change. Is this a bug of InDesign?

I have this problem since a few days: if I open a layout with a version of InDesign earlier than 2023 (I use 2020 and 2021 for some projects) I see that all the small caps put in previously are skipped.A white space appears instead of the word in small caps, I have to select and remove the small caps so that the word “reappears.”Has anyone had the same problem?

I am trying to create interactive checkboxes like "Yes" and "No" where if Yes is selected, No greys out as an option to be selected. Basically, I don't want someone to be able to checkmark both for any given question. Any help?

I am on a Mac running Ventura 13.2.1 and InDesign 18.2.1 and just began to receive this error when trying to package a document: This document contains links to files/URLs that are not accessible. lease check your network connectivity or the original source of content.I checked the privacy/security on my Mac and made sure all the Adobe products have access to files and folders.I made sure InDesign had all updates.Currently the CC Libraries do not load, I did what was suggested to no avail.I tried opening a prior file (from several months ago that had no issues) and get the exact same errors as I am getting on my new file that I am trying to package.

Here's my experience:I draw a line with the line tool, stroke it, and position it where I want it.  No prob.If I should need to adjust its length, I choose the appropriate end on the proxy to lock in the direction toward which it will adjust, and then adjust the length numerically in the length field, point by point, so I can get it exactly right.The stroke changes length just fine throughout the process, but it also simultaneously creeps upward and a little to the side, toward the anchored end. Basically, the line doesn't stay where I put it.I thought it might have something to do with the object scaling settings in the General tab of Preferences, but I'm not sure. I've attached a screen shot of my current and most common settings of this preference. I've noticed this behavior many, many times and usually just drag the line back to where it belongs and keep going with my work. But I thought maybe it was time to ask about this to find out if anyone else has had this experienc

Greetings,I have a coworker on a Mac using InDesign v19.4 and they are getting the error below when running a script, but other coworkwers on Macs are able to run the script with no problem. I'm on a PC running InDesign v19.5 and the script runs fine for me as well. Hello, I'm working in a 500+ page InDesign CC 2021 book document that keeps crashing ID when I'm trying to reveal the contents of an overset text box at the end of the doc. This file's history is that it was completely rebuilt from scratch with text and graphics pasted from a previous ID file I inherited from someone else that also had crashing/corruption issues—thus the reason for my rebuild. Now that I'm almost done rebuilding many hundreds of pages, I'm experiencing these problems again, but I don't know why, and if the issue is with the content I've had to paste in from the previous problem doc. But this is nerve-wracking, as we're fast approaching the book's deadline.  I'm working on a 2021 MacBook Pro with Big Sur, 11.2.3. InDesign 2021 is up to date, I've reset ID preferences several times, and I've restarted my computer. I'd super-appreciate any help!! Thank you so much in advance!

Hello there! I have a project with 20 pages. I want to change a few pages to have 3 or 4 columns, depending on the content. Some pages need text columns within the paragraphs, not across the whole page. I tried adding the text columns on separate pages using the page edit option, but it didn't work.I have the "primary text" turned ON because I imported the Word file to get the content on all the pages.In Design Sample Video

I have a file I need to postscript for our Navigator RIP and make color separated plates. I have the XitronRIP ppd but can't install it in Mac Sonoma as a physical printer. Where do I put the PPD so I can create a device dependent PS file?Thank you

I've noticed something weird with InDesign.Sometimes it loses the location of the previously saved document.When this happens, the path that it chooses seems to be random.An example would be if lets say I save a file called file001.indd in a folder called 100047.If I go back to that folder the next day and make a revision to the file, sometimes the file save location is not pointing at the folder 100047.  It seems to pick a random location.  So if I'm not paying close attenton, I may save my file thinking its' location will be in the same folder, however it will be pointing at the random folder location. This happens when saving or exporting out to PDF.This does not always happen, however it does happen on a regular basis.Does anyone know the cause of this?

Hallo zusammen - seit langem frage ich mich schon wie ich im Programm InDesign ein neues Dokument erstellen kann und zwar so dass man die Lineale nicht automatisch sieht. Weil das erste was ich tue ist dann immer "Command + R" um die Lineale auszublenden da ich diese zu 99% nicht verwende für alle meine Designs.Habe dazu Web durchsucht Suchmaschinen und Youtube aber nix gefunden.Hat voung wie man sich das ersparen kann????Danke für eure Hilfe schon mal im Voraus!! 

Hey guys,I have a strange issue with pdf transparency that I just cant wrap my head around, probably because im not really a print guy, but anyway here goes.Im trying to print some playing cards I have put together, the way I do it is that I have each individual card as separeate indesign file and then I link all these into another indesign file to put them on a grid (SRA3 size).Issue Im facing is with transparency - I have some layers in the cards themselves (see image no 1) that need transparency. It looks alright in the card indd. It looks alright when I export the card indd into card pdf. It looks alright when I link either the card indd or card pdf into the A3 grid indd.But then when I export the a3 grid indd as a final print pdf everytime I have these layers with transparency in those linked cards it makes holes into uderlying graphics (image 2) - uness I use X1a-2001 preset. And if i do that, I get issues with text quality when the page gets printed (theres some small 7.5pt text

Hello everyone - I have been wondering for a long time how I can create a new document in InDesign without automatically seeing the rulers. The first thing I always do is press "Command + R" to hide the rulers because I don't use them for 99% of my designs. I've searched the web, search engines, and YouTube but haven't found anything. Hello,  I am working on a company product catalog that we more or less finished all the grafics for. Its quite a lot of custom designed pages (more than 70) with vector grafic, transitions and text. Now i need to add interactive elements like menu, buttons, logo selections and filtrations, videos hyperlinks etc.  I have seen a lot of people doing this in Indesign and need a way to convert the entire document to indesign. I probably dont need to be able to edit the grafic designs of the pages any more just to add the interactive things.  How can i do this ? Is there any effitient way ? Also i kinda need the ability to add new pages when i finish this document when new products arive, but that will probably be using a template of a diferent product to add a new one just swaping text and image. thanks.

Hi all, I'm trying to have a script which creates a 'document progression bar' on pages within a document, and the bars height gets larger as the reader goes down the pages. Scoured the internet, done my googling - there's a few solutions where people have written scripts which create a progress bar, however all seem to be an increase in width whereas I'm looking for height. The best one that I came across was from Arno Richter which creates everything from the styles and swatch, to drawing the bar from a user set position, width, and height.
