Found something interesting & I'm not quite sure what's causing it - Basically, I have some pages with two unconnected threaded text boxes.When I fill one up the text flows normally.However, when I fill the other up after the first (in this case, big frames first, then small upper frames), all the content of the bigger frames gets pushed and doesn't start again until the content of the other frames ends.Adding text in the small upper frames seems to add pages that won't connect properly. In this shot, you can see the thread from the last "big box" going straight down, where it connects again many pages later. Strangely, the content on the first page is fine. (Well, maybe it's not strange, but I don't remember seeing this before... 🙂 ) And the file gets weirder every time I change stuff.Any ideas what's going on here?I have some experimenting to do...thanks!

I need to have a Primary Text Frame I can fill & have Smart Text Reflow work so that I can paste text & have the Primary Text Frame fill, but only one side of the spread.In this case, it may be a string of names of vegetables or state names or something, but would only fill the blue Primary Text Frame here:Since I'm not linking frames across the spread... it's not working.Any way around this?thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my InDesign file. the margins and bleed settings appear correct in the document, but after exporting to PDF, they look different or misaligned. I’ve double-checked my export settings, but nothing seems off. Could someone explain why this happens and how to fix it?

I’m trying to set up a baseline grid in InDesign that stays perfectly consistent across facing pages in a print layout. Even though I’ve aligned text to the grid, the lines don’t match up between left and right pages, especially with different margins or columns. How can I make the baseline grid uniform across the entire spread?

Dear All,This is my 1st question on AC (Adobe Community), so i will explain what i need here in details and excuse me about my few or even none Experienced in Coding specially in Javascript.I have a book with many INDD files, these files has a lot of images and objects and text frames are anchored to main text box.i was searched on AC for way to release all my anchored object and text frames from main text frame. so i found script way.i found one its name "ReleaseAnyAnchor" and created by "Dave Saunders" to release anchored object (Graphic/text/else) But one by one. and this will take too much time from me to release all the objects on the book. When pressing right-click on an image the app crashes/shuts down.I already tried to remove the cache. Does anybody have an idea on how to fix?

Is it possible in InDesign to change the color of the handles/frame of an object or image. I've looked through Preferences but can't find a way to do it. Currently, object and image handles are a high yellow, but i find it difficult to see/find the handles when i'm manually resizing.

When I select a text that had is in more than one text box, it doesn't allow me to change font or edit text, it doesn't even show up in the properties panel. When I choose a text box that isn't linked to another it allows to edit in properties panel no issue.

Hello everyone,I have to create a data merge document including a plain text qrcode.My source is a CSV file from libreoffice.The trouble comes when I try to insert a line feed or a carriage return.Using excel formula CHAR(10) or CHAR(13) does not work, because the rendering return just the first line of the text.Is there a way to fix the issue?Thanks

 From previous post I've found (from 2011) this was supposed to be fixed by closing the file if it is opened elsewhere. However, it still persist for me.  My source file is saved in .CSV

Is there a way to make “long text variables” wrap automatically?Sometimes I encounter very long chapter titles, and when using variable headers, they don't wrap automatically. Is there a good solution for this?Currently, all the text is crammed into a single line.

I have a 22 chapter book in Indesign. Formatted ahead of time in Parent Pages, sychronized successfully, images embedded. IND tells me I have no errors. Chapter Title appears on top left page, Book title on top right page, page numbers at bottom left and bottom right. Last chapter, I noticed it said, in lower. case instead of all CAPS (as formatted), "chapter 22" instead of chapter title. All the others are correct as formatted.I decided to say Chapter 1 , Chapter 2, etc. at the top of the first page of each chapter and moved the chapter title down at bit and centered. Now, every other chapter lists chapter title # at the top left of each left page for that chapter instead of chapter title. What have I done wrong? I copied and used a test book, synchronized the book but now the page titles (top left) alternate with chapter numbers instead.Anyone have experience or information about this? Would appreciate some clues. tanX

I have a 24 page doc consisting of basic text and images. Everything looks fine and there are no preflight errors. When I export to PDF the majority of the document is fine and then sporadically from pages 6-11 some text and photos go missing. I  have cleared all preferences, I tried turning texted into outlines, I tried deleting images and exported to see if i could find a bad file. I've got nothing. Ideas?When I view the exported PDF I get "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."  I created the PDF and there were no errors.What it should be: What is exported: (Renamed by MOD)

I have made a custom OTF font using FontLab.  It displays properly (2 colors), when I view the installed font in Word, or the Font section of the Control Panel.  It also appears correctly when I open it in FontLab.  In InDesign, however, it appears all black (single color) with some sections inverted. I try to attach the OTF file, but it says it doesn't match.  Not sure what that's about.  A link is provided instead, if that helps.  I know very little to nothing about font design.  I struggled to make this one font, which is all I need for the product I am making.  Any help would be appreciated. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1x6QxABsYhhXD0EbYDxGG8l86sbZjS6rl/view?usp=sharing Thank you!

I'm encountering an issue with the character direction in Adobe InDesign and I'm hoping someone here can provide some guidance.I'm currently using the latest version of Adobe InDesign with a premium subscription (up to date as of May 25, 2023). According to the information I found on the Adobe website, there should be a "Character Direction" option available in the "Character" panel to control the direction of individual characters within a paragraph. However, I cannot seem to locate this option in my version of InDesign.The absence of the "Character Direction" option is causing difficulties for me when typing text in Arabic or Hebrew. For example, when I try to type a period, it is positioned behind the text instead of appearing after it. It only moves to the end of the text if I type another word. This behavior suggests that the character direction is set for English, but I need it to be adjusted for right-to-left languages.I have alread

Object Styles, Paragraph Styles, I'm really trying to get a grip on them but my god. Simple example. I have an image frame and a text frame. The text frame contains the caption for the image. I want the text frame to sit at the bottom of the image frame. The image frame is a placeholder, because each page will have different size images. So the captions need to move with the image dynamically.  Anchored object? Group? I tried and at some point, the caption text remained underneath the image, even when scaling the image frame! But what about the image and text frames underneath them? I just want to make certain that the margins between each frame are the same for every page, and that I can increase a margin that is then corrected on all pages equally...editing in html is more user friendly than this. Everything is jumping around and it just reminds me wrestling with excel.

I'm having issues with all floating menus like this, this is the top right of my screen. When clicked on stroke menu for instance, the floating goes off the screen and I can't rearrange it. Is there any fix to this. Only happens when using dual monitors. <Title renamed by moderator>

Hi, does anyone have an idea when the regular support business hours are? (For help with InDesign)Can't find anything about business hours anywhere on Adobe's websites.I already tried to chat with Adobe this Saturday, around 09:00 CET, and 16:30 CET. First you need to answer a LOT of questions with, and then after like 10 minutes, it responds that Adobe is ready to help within their business hours, without telling when that is. 😞
